Well, if we are to believe this 'self described' economic expert, maybe we all should dump holdings in all investments and bank accounts.

Sorry 'vid'
'especially considering how much his pig of a boss Berger stole from this company for doing far less'.
No agree. the 'doc' started this 'entity' along with 'partners' 'circa' 1991. i would think it started as a 'pioneering conception' with dreams beyond imagination. like it or not, the 'guy' was/is a very 'gifted' and talented person in the field of 'medicine'..
the 'missteps', calculated or not, were part of his 'journey'.. i have also had so many of the 'missteps' as i look back.
we go forward. as for 'Dr Berger', thanks, in spite of it all
If i had a couple hundred thousand shares, it think i would do the same. It is called 'locking in a profit', a wise and prudent move. Congratulations Mr Clackson?
Now send that out to the 'twatter' gang and tell em 'galt' told you so. I think they will appreciate the 'wisdom'????lol
galt
In mutual respect
enjoy your perspectives over these last many months as well as 'most' that share ideas here. it is a good 'thread' for sharing...
peace
galt
you forgot to mention that the 'Dow, Nasdaq, S&P500' are at 'record' highs also. 'a rising tide that lifts all boats'????
To project to '2018' is truly an amazing feat. I think and hope the 'deal' if there is to be one, happens before this year is out and hopefully before the 'election'....
'strike while the iron is hot' would be quite 'prudent' as we 'circle the sun daily' in anticipation of what we do not know??
musings from galt, which ain't worth much most of the time
would have to agree with the 'assessment'
thanks 'br' for the continued contributions to the 'thread'
lhe 'ariadne' so shall we see
perhaps the 'tide' has turned?
the 'stock market' is kind of like 'life' 'blue!!!
ups//downs, failure, joy, getting up in the morning and looking to the day.
not many enjoy 'consider the end game', but another reality of 'life'?
enjoy the 'moment' as it passes so fast
'Ariadne', always a piece of work as we press on to 'fruition' toward the 'promised land'
just money, take care of your 'health' which is so much more valuable and enjoy the ride
'Vid'
the 'senior years',,,gotta love it, as if 'we' were so fortunate to get this far in the 'journey' and the mystery of it all
continuing to look forward with 'Ariadne' for these so many years
sometimes, the music is far more 'reflection' than any particular missive
thanks for being a part of it all
Welcome Back
galt
in agreement
so shall we see
galt
thanks
galt
a blind 'shot' in the darkness?
'Aria' will sometime (now or then) come under the 'umbrella' of 'Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd'...
'conjecture', always fun for the 'grey matter' that is and beyond 'one'
it was 'mighty hot' on that so long ago night in 1972
but also so--so wonderful
and on 'that point' 'last',,,
global markets are so much more 'jittery' than i have seen for many years. "Quantitative Easing" has yet to rear its 'ugly head' perhaps in some months or beyond. the 'bond market' take a look? i remember 'October 1987' so very well.
looking out "two years",,goodness gracious.
'strike while the iron is hot', 'dow, s&p, nasdaq', all time highs.
election day a comin. could get abit 'ugly' after that affair.
not 'pessimistic' but always the 'HOPE', life in itself.
Thanks 'Vid', for the well put together thoughts, i enjoyed.
and always a favorite
'HOPE' per galt
Thanks 'Vid'
what with 'options expiration' coming Friday, the 'boyz' had to do some realigning to get it correct?
'denners' other 3 'lovelives' and i do know there are about 14 others in that 'branched out fund' created about 48 months ago, actually did not take quite much of a 'hit' today.
AEGR---/-0.03
APRI---/-0.01
VVUS---/-0.00
my fondest hope would be for 'big al' to pull the curtain back 'abit' in the not to distant future concerning this 'ARIA'. i know he is 'shrewd' and has many 'business savvy' people that surround him?
the 'hedge funds' been taking a hit this year in proportion to the overall market.
May we all hope that 'Alex' has a firm and good hand on this 'ARIAD' investment that he started some 2+ years ago?
the above were in that 2 year time range also, the exception was 'APRI' which he chose to enter about 6/8 months ago. 6 million dollar investment at about $1.01. Maybe that could be the 'one'..
good day anyway, still able to draw the breath of life and thankful for that.
peace

.." Denner just dumb (doubtful) or is there some conflict of interest here regarding the performance of his fund?
1. Denner is definitely NOT dumb (we agree!)
2. "conflict of interest"... hmmmm, maybe, maybe not. I vote for the latter, since
it's the least complicated possibility, and there's no information as to any conflict.
3. You should consider the simplest explanation of all (and the most likely one), that
Denner thinks that Ariad has the potential to increase in value over time.
As a general rule (not targeted at you) one should dismiss notions that
have their origin in fantasy:
1. $15 is "brick wall" (I see it as a butter wall, and Ariad as a hot knife!)
2. The "big boys"/"the street"/"Mr.Market" doesn't like HB (and now presumably Denner).
3. "you can stick a fork in it"
4. Pona is "toxic" (I would call it side effects, which all medications have, and
which will be controlled).
etc".
I would certainly agree, denner is 'NOT' dumb!!!
not a very good past year, as far as i can see, from in front of the curtain? maybe he can close out the last half of this year in a more 'regal' fashion. 'gawd' i only hope so?
in mutual respect
I think my point would be 'jess'
perhaps you could shed some light on the '4' years since he established 'sarissa capital'
i tried to shed that 'light' for the past year in my last missive.
i did not follow 'denner' for the first '3' years after same leaving 'ichan'. perhaps you could embellish if there was success there for the 'sarissa capital management lp'...
always curious
"Vid, there is a few on board who questioned why Denner is not doing what they think he's supposed to do regarding ponatinib. Imagine this for a second. He has the most shares among ariad investors, institutions included, so he will lose more than anybody if this 'few' group is right. He's surrounded by seasoned and savvy business people on top of the fact that he's a shrewd investor himself and that he's privy to all things behind the curtain while this 'few' group only gets their information from the boards. Isn't it amazing how they still tag along with Denner contrary to their beliefs and ideas? But they are entitled to their own opinion".
in mutual respect
Maybe 'denner' is a very astute fund manager and just having not a very good go in the past year. i wonder what he did the prior three years from this past year, when he branched out on his own? goodness
July 6 2015---'ARIA' closed $7.93 on the day.
July 6 2015---'AEGR' closed $17.43 on the day.
July 6 2015---'APRI' closed $1.87 on the day.
I do not know if that is impressive or not? i hope him well in the 'near future', he could probably use some cash to shore up the fund?
Sorry 'zzaatt'
i thought you brought some much needed 'perspective' to the thread.
Thanks again for your 'effort' to make the conversation abit more 'balanced....
galtjohn61
Keep up the good work 'zzaatt'
Quote:
'The audience for Ariad consists of patients and their scientifically oriented oncologists (you know.. the kind that read professional journals, and keep up with the science and developments in the clinic, so that they can face patients and their families in good conscience , and feel that they're offering the most efficacious medicine to them)'
I appreciated the effort you put into delivering same..
thanks again
galt
'jess, 2da, zzaatt, vid, rum, yo, tc, ak, im, ariafan, dog, piece o mind, greggors, north,,,,et al
and to a very cherished old 'cyberspace friend' 'friar24walk' who fought the struggle some years ago......'whence' if you are tuned in, thanks also for the 'music'?
'sully' & 'STOCKSEEK',,,thanks
the 'Ariad', may we pursue yet
maybe it says it all,,a galtjohn 'assessment'
"Alexander J. Denner launched in 2012 Sarissa Capital Management and at present is located in Greenwich, Connecticut. The firm makes investments mostly in stocks of businesses having their main activities in the health care industry. Mr. Denner acquired experience at Viking Global of Andreas Halvorsen working as a portfolio manager at the time of the stint until 2006. He then served at Icahn Capital LP of Carl Icahn for six years as Senior Managing Director, then he decided to create his investment firm".
'my point' and again not 'bemoaning' Mr Denner...'shrewd' would be a personal assessment and not from an 'objective' point of view....
how did you arrive at 'shrewd', since Mr Denner launched the above in 2012. under 'Icahn' he did quite well as far as i can ascertain, which again would be an 'assessment' per galt.
he is still in the 'infancy' stage of branching out on his own. we shall see how 'successful'..i wish Mr Denner much success, as i have an investment with the first company overtaken by an 'activist investor'?
I guess that is why i bring up 'AEGR' which currently does not appear to be a 'shrewd' move by 'Alex'. Maybe 'APRI' will be.
enjoy the exchange and your 'posting' here, thanks
"He's surrounded by seasoned and savvy business people on top of the fact that he's a shrewd investor himself and that he's privy to all things behind the curtain while this 'few' group only gets their information from the boards"..
Maybe, Mr Denner is 'shrewd', but he (and those that surround him) have certainly taken their 'licks' lately. Take a look at 'AEGR' and merger with 'QLT'....i believe Mr Denner was in around $24/25 bucks on that one several years ago. And the 6 million investment at around a 'buck' in 'APRI' more recently..
The guy and those that 'surround him' could certainly use a 'win' and may we hope that he does so with 'Ariad'..not 'bemoaning' the fellow, but he is most certainly 'mortal' as are the rest of us in the game of 'investing'?
'no wisdom' Jess
just a 'country boy' from the midwest, that tried to do his best. 'integrity' was always the 'host'
we share this 'ariad' story for so long now
i wish i was better equipped to be on the 'analytical' side of the 'equation' regarding above. we have some good 'folk' here that express what i lack.
anyway, this 'guy' died young, but i always liked the expression thru the music
Thanks for the 'thoughts' and sharing
galtjohn61
Wy, really a nice 'quiet time' here.
To the 'Ariad' friends, looking forward. 'the flow'
thanks
Thanks 'zzaatt' for the message today. Again on 'target' as always.
'half-life', maybe less now. lol
keep up the good work, as it has opened some 'new eyes' in ways that could not have been done before...
Stay tuned, to the 'ARIAD' story, our friends..
galtjohn61
'zzaatt'
mighty short 'half-life',,,but enjoyed the 'message'
the market kind of in a 'tizzy' as 'janet's' proclamation on Thursday came out 'half-baked'....maybe related to 'half-life'????LLOOLL
interesting to see where we are headed next in the days to come. for the most part the 'Ariad' story remains 'scripted' as always. i think were fine,,,only hope i can live long enough to read the final chapter. 'Ariad' and 'immortality' seem to go hand in hand.
thanks again for the 'thoughts'
galtjohn61
"Triple witching occurs when the contracts for stock index futures, stock index options and stock options expire on the same day. Triple witching days happen four times a year on the third Friday of March, June, September and December"
usually quite ugly days, maybe that is why it occurs only '4' times a year.
'cheer up my brother'???????????
And thank you
for bringing a 'much needed' perspective to the 'thread', as we go forward into the last half of this year, in regard to 'Aria' the company?
'checks and bal·anc·es', always good, even in 'cyberspace', per 'galt', which really does not matter in contrast to a 'hill of beans'?
shall we see
I have taken the first step and keyed the 'Follow By' under your 'profile' per 'galtjohn61'..
I continue to look forward to your participation here, as i believe it adds a new dimension to the 'iHub' community on the 'thread'!!
I am with 'hope' that our gathering here will not last much more than this year (not out of unkindness), but simply maybe a sale of this company or this company becoming part of a larger entity....
enjoyed your missive
thanks
galtjohn61
I think you are very correct and so glad to have him here?
Stay tuned to the 'Ariad' story.
thanks galt
Well now, do not let it 'kill' you 'BR', that would be a 'waste' of humanity.
The way i looked at 'the brilliant deal', nothing is sold yet? If there is a future buyer, it is rather clear the 'options' for that 'buyer' would have in regard to 'AP534'!!!
Not good also to look at life 'in the rearview mirror'...studied that a long time ago, one of the precursors to 'stress, anxiety, and depression. which can, in their own right be 'killers'?
heads up, i think we head up at some point in time
take care now
I do not think so 'Vid'?
perhaps it will be 'graduation day', oh so the mystery of it all
Now, if we can get this 'Ariad' moving in on a more northerly trajectory, i think we can have some fun.
i hope it shall come to pass and remain so 'optimistic'...
nothing more than i would like to do, if the above should happen, is share a dear old 'photo' from 'friar24walk' library of 'ARIADNE' more than many years ago. the guy was something special.
thanks for being here
Thanks 'BR'
ya know, i have been selling into the 'strength' also. i would have done much better in August of 2015 if only i had listened, when you stated the 'sell' at around $10, i believe.
"This is definitely not a buy and hold stock. It really is fully valued at $1.7 billion. The market knows this as well"....
well, ya 'hit some and miss some'..kind of reminds me of when i was involved in 'trapshooting' in my younger days. what a 'hoot'
take care now
Thanks
in appreciation for your effort
galtjohn61
'zzaatt'
"To the extent that "the market" expresses an opinion, it's in terms of the
PPS, and all longs know that's a lagging indicator! Ariad longs think they're
ahead of the market, and they're right".
I think that 'assessment' rings 'quite true' in regard to this 'Aria' and where we are currently....
the other end was the 'half-life' issues with same.lllooolll
Just a little 'June Swoon' today, as in the past couple of days with most everything trading..just a month behind schedule 'sell in May & walk away'!!
maybe it has something to do with 'global warming' who knows?
galtjohn61
ps-keep up the good work here, always enjoy the observations of many
Hello '2da'
dem 'pirates', been going on for a very long time now....1929, the 'looting', well, what can ya say? history
"The earliest recorded organization of securities trading in New York among brokers directly dealing with each other can be traced to the Buttonwood Agreement. Previously securities exchange had been intermediated by the auctioneers who also conducted more mundane auctions of commodities such as wheat and tobacco.[11] On May 17, 1792 twenty four brokers signed the Buttonwood Agreement which set a floor commission rate charged to clients and bound the signers to give preference to the other signers in securities sales. The earliest securities traded were mostly governmental securities such as War Bonds from the Revolutionary War and First Bank of the United States stock,[11] although Bank of New York stock was a non-governmental security traded in the early days"
always a 'gamble' and always the 'pirates'? history
enjoy your communication here, as we all share
I think that is a very good decision also.
Why sell a 'goldmine' for the price of 'Scrap-Iron'?
we a 'heddin' north
How does that make ya feel? Maybe he is worth it.
I do not think i have any problem with it, the 'old guy' brought her (Ariadne) a long way from the beginning??
On another note, ya up and changed the 'profile picture' back. With all 'sincerity' i liked the other one of the past couple of days, oh so much better.
This 'ARIADNE' to the 'promised land'???????
at least $10 i hope for 'me and thee' and probably some others following....
Hey, take care now
