Looking forward to M-J#3. By now, most of the "sell half to raise cash for rights crowd" should have cleared their positions. Of course the market may have to rally the shares a little higher once again to shake out a few more. Anyway, for those of us in the "still building positions crowd," the low share price is a double bonus. jmho
Another fabulous day...Tremendous amounts of money came out of the market in the past few days. Added to the cash on the side lines we're talking about a significant pile of coins. Some of those coins will be looking for a new home and who knows; some of them may find there way here. Actually I suspect a lot will. jmho
Keep focused on the prize...Behind every dark cloud there is a Sun. It's a hard lesson to teach but I suspect some already know that the more you dwell on the negative, the more you draw it to yourself. Of course when you think of the positive the more of it you draw towards yourself. Better days ahead. jmho
Last day to lock in extra rights...Some investors likely sold a few to raise cash for their remaining rights. Now I suspect some will sell a little higher thinking they'll buy back at 5. Of course some of us are playing for all the marbles, or lots of extra rights. Actually, with the float a little higher, things could really heat up. Of course the most important thing is that ZN receives money for every right. Raising my target to 15. jmho
Stronger and stronger hands... I suspect some investors will dump shares. This should create an opportunity for those of us building positions. Eventually the weak supply of shares will dry up setting the stage for a new placement. Of course some will talk about throwing good money after bad. Then again others will consider themselves blessed to have picked up shares so cheap. In a nutshell, this play is far from over. jmho
Think Jacob's cave...At first I thought the whole structure was like a bellows. Now I think "Geode" might be a better analogy. Anyway this play continues to capture my imagination. The deepest zone interests me most, but the well 1km south interests me even more. Still holding. jmho
The report indicated they plan to drill Ma'anit Joseph #3 3250ft south of well #2. Using some rough math, I figure well #2 went north 1833 ft. (That's where they hit the Triassic fault line and attempted to drill deeper.) Total diameter of the play seems to be 5000 ft+ so far, with an open extension south. The purpose of well #2 was to test the Triassic between 12000 and 15400, and to test the Permian. They obviously never reached the Permian target but jars of oil in the open hole offered some clues. The primary purpose of Ma'anit Joseph #3 will be to test the Permian. I expect it to be drilled vertical. The warrants are holding around 3.5 and the stock around 6.5 I expect a unit offering at 10. jmho
Nothing wrong with weekly reading. The thing is, in today's world, there is so much to read that most get overwhelmed. The trick is to be able to read through it all and grasp the message. For example, solar activity has been odd. The Sun, first quiet, is now slightly more active. Is this increase in activity/magnetism affecting tectonic plates on Earth? How will it affect the edges of the Arabian plate? Will pressure shift things in our favor? This story is far from over. My position continues to build. Good luck to all. Of course one has to ask whether it really is about luck at all. jmho
Another excellent update...The Channel 10 news report was worth watching. In it ZN confirmed they had found crude at the 5000m level. They also confirmed they were going back to see if they could produce it in commercial quantities. Of course we all saw the five jars. We also saw the jars being held with a rag suggesting that the jars were filled from a much larger vessel. We also heard of completion foam rising and pressure building. Most suspect the pressure is the reason for the big rig. More upside is expected. Of course upside is great for shareholders, but it doesn't pay the company bills, so some combination of new shares and warrants is likely. jmho
Good days and bad...As expected, the market is going through a February correction. This is actually a positive because it means investors with money will be on the side lines looking for new investment opportunity. I suspect more than a little will find its way into the Israeli "Black Gold Rush." Better days ahead. Of course there could be more bad days. Then again most investors don't care because "it's still early days." jmho
Coming together nicely...See posts 1014,1183, and 1176 "...The current working hypothesis of our geologists is that the oil matured offshore Israel and migrated both horizontally and vertically to structurally higher but older Triassic rock, onshore Israel. As both oil and gas are lighter than water, they always migrate vertically, but in our license area, the oil seems to have also migrated horizontally..." This play continues to capture my imagination. jmho
Filled my "stink bid."...Actually I had no intention of doing that, but the way I see it, if investors want to dump shares cheap so be it. The thing is, with the original shares transferred into stronger hands, placements at much higher prices become easier. Good luck to all, but ask yourselves, is it really about luck? jmho
I don't see a problem with awarding options, although the timing might be considered a negative with the stock in a bit of a down trend. Anyway, as an investor, one has the option to switch portfolios and take advantage of the sale prices while they last. Of course buying low can sometimes be a matter of faith. jmho
Why aren't we following with casing?...We know volcanics are a challenge. This company is drilling where they're drilling because "the Bible told them so," yet they seem to be struggling with faith. Let's face it. Once they get to where they're going they'll need casing anyway,so why don't they quit playing around at the fishing hole and drill up some prophesy. jmho
Perhaps no news is good news. Perhaps ZN should let the NASDAQ speculators play.jmho
Gas in the mud drum?...Perhaps no news is good news. jmho
Boosting my TFSA.... The TFSA gives Canadian investors the oppportunity to invest in high risk high reward plays like this one without any fear of tax on capital gains. The amounts are C$5000 per year and carry forward. Anyway, present weakness provides a real opportunity for the " No guts no glory" crowd. As a point of disclosure, I now own ZN across multiple portfolios. jmho
I'm not worried about the short interest. For all we know, the short could be held by a brokerage anticipating a public offering. It's not uncommon for a brokerage to do this. In fact it could work in our favor because it provides a ready market for new stock.jmho
The potential of this play remains enormous. So far wildcat wells have provided some interesting information. The Ma'anit #1 showed that the Triassic is 1600 ft higher as compared to other places in Israel. The Ma'anit #2 showed that the Triassic returned normal depth at about 2100 ft out. The Atlit ll showed that 470ft of pay is possible. Using this information and some quick math, a simple volume calculation, one could speculate on a potential reservoir of 300,000,000 barrels at Ma'anit. Of course one could only expect to recover about a third of the oil in place. Regardless, with seven potential area of interest this company continues to intrigue. jmho
It looks like Barclays Global added quite a lot. I hope it works out well for them. No doubt small investors are carrying the brunt of this company. Big gains here could do wonders for a lot of people. Actually big gains here could be just what this market needs. jmho
Judging by the negative comments on other boards, one can conclude that the market is working to digest the significance of potential fault traps on the Ma'anit high. ie Givot Olam recently announced an oil find to the south. This may be a significant find but it's possible that it's latest find may be just like it's other finds; (present but not easily accessible.) ZN on the other hand is sitting on top of potential fault traps. These traps could be just the mechanism needed to store easily accessible oil. Of course this is just speculation, but one has to believe that the oil in the bottles came from somewhere. Actually I believe Well #2 went slant right across the top of the cap rock. What they seek lies just beneath. jmho
Takeover target?...With each passing day, and each passing news clip, Zion's significant acreage becomes more and more valuable. So far we've been playing with pennies. I think it's safe to assume a major is watching each and every development, no matter how insignificant it may seem, with increasing amounts of interest. jmho
A reef can also contain a lot of water. That's why I'm not too keen on the upper four zones. I think the blessing they seek lies deep beneath the "cap rock." The oil they found could be seeping from a reservoir beneath. At any rate, this is an interesting formation. I'm glad they're taking time to think about it. Of course the oil could be traveling along an east west fracture, but I'm beginning to think not. jmho
Sitting tight...The thing is we already know they tried producing from the upper zones with Well #1. I think bringing the big rig back to well #1 and going vertical, starting at the point where they started going slant, may be a wise choice. This way they don't risk damaging any of the upper casing already in place. Of course, if they hit with well #3 then the decision with well #1 becomes easier. In the mean time, I suspect anything bought below 11.50 is a bargain. jmho
If it exists we'll find it...Think of the economy as a giant tub. The tub can be filled with inflation producing printed paper, or it can be filled with job building, hard assets. Money flows out of the tub as infrastructure for the masses, or as riches for the rich. Which do you think is best?... If it doesn't, never mind it.
Time to finish my thought... It is also possible that they were drilling "slant" through the cap rock for a good portion of the 2500 foot section, at least until they hit the Triassic fault. This suggests that they may actually need to drill vertical in the middle of the slant section in order to get through the cap rock and into the potential reservoir below. I think the whole section could be an anticline, bordered on the east by a fault. The trick now is to find the real source of the oil in the bottle. ie. Did it come from the Triassic above. Did it flow in from a fracture to the east, or did it come from the Deep that lies beneath. I don't know, but I think we need to drill more wells.jmho
It's also possible
The road to $99.90...One has to admit that the sight of ZN's first "bottle of oil" made one smile. Despite the obvious relief, one can't ignore the other more significant point of the update, and that is that they made mention of a plan to drill well #4 vertical at a site about one km away. This is what most of us hoped for. After all one of the major advantages of going slant is to test a tremendous distance of land with just one well. Regardless of the outcome of well #2, the main focus of this whole journey is to test the "deep that lies beneath." Well # 2 may simply be a "means to an end," so test away. First target on the road, $11.50, as suggested by the warrants. jmho
Coming together nicely...With piles of cash on the sidelines, most investors are just waiting for a "concrete" news release. Of course those of us with a little more risk tolerance are using the weakness to even odd lots, or add to positions. If things work out the way I expect them to, your 6.66 will flip right over to 99.90 jmho
Another fabulous week. Waiting for a well to come in can be extremely stressful. Investors might try counting sunspots.Of course with the sun stuck in the deepest solar minimum in 100 years sunspots have been few and far between. Anyway sunspot 1034 is putting on quite a show. With all the recent news and the latest sunspot, this truly has been a fabulous week. Of course a flow of oil or gas would certainly serve to top things off. At this point, all I'm looking for is just enough flow to generate some cash.
Could be an exciting week... As expected, last weeks "good news" forced a plethora of stop buys. Could this be the precursor of things to come?
The three lowest zones interest me the most.
All we need is some oil. Investors have certainly done their jobs. jmho
Thinking is good... If thinking for yourself worked, then good for you. Even John F. Kennedy is quoted as saying (after the Bay of Pigs fiasco)"How could I have been so mistaken to have trusted the experts?"
Buy high. Buy low... Short sellers have done a fine job of "shaking the tree." Of course, just like smart investors are protected with stop losses, smart short sellers are protected with stop buys. Knowing this, one can switch portfolios and give the short sellers something to think about.jmho
Hang in there flatron...All the gold in the world plus all the gold in the ground measures about 250,000,000 kilograms. This is equivalent to 8,800,000,000 ounces. Multiply this by the price of gold at 1000 and you get 8,000,000,000,000 or roughly the value of M2. Of course, the US money supply has increased of late, so to match this increase, the price of gold has gone up. ie gold 1180, M2 10,384,000,000,000. The thing is, each dollar increase in M2 is multiplied about 10 times over by fractional reserve banking. This should result in an enormous increase in economic activity world wide. The US dollar will be with us for a long long time. jmho
Just my humble opinion.... If I was giving advice, the first thing I'd tell people would be not to invest more than they could afford to lose, because this play is still wildcat. The second thing I'd tell them is, don't be sitting on the sidelines for what could become the most fabulous play of our time. When it comes to investing/speculating there's no shame in failure, there's no shame in success, there's only shame in not trying.
The Real Rainman is very good with numbers. Rainman19 is better at picking winning stocks. At the moment, this play has factored in a recoverable find of about 10 million barrels. The actual potential of this play could be ten times, possibly 100 times greater. Your complaint about $39 is insignificant. Smart investors will pick up odd lots like yours with over subscriptions. The most important thing still is that the company receives enough from the rights to keep on drilling. jmho
Pay your broker well.... Investors are sometimes so busy guarding the pennies that the dollars march right out the door. jmho
Wildcatting in Israel....The company has made it very clear that this is a wildcat operation. Since you seem to have some knowlege of scams, I'm curious. What does the SEC have to say about shortsellers, with deep pockets, deliberately shorting more to drive the price down?
