2. Outsourcing doesn't hurt jobs. Tell that to programmer XXXX, a laid off fortune 100 software guy (friend of a friend). Oops, too late, he hung himself. Got laid off, tried daytrading and blew up his brokerage account, disappeared. Sad ending and one must assume he had other psychological problems but unemployed, middle aged, no jobs, no money.
We recently had an interesting discussion on this very topic on the foresight exchange mailing list. I believe that this whole outsourcing thing is the result of 50+ years of protectionist philosophy as far as immigration is concerned. BTW, anyone interested, check out http://www.ideosphere.com/ the home of the foresight idea exchange. Would love to have new members - especially from here. You won't make any money, but may enjoy the game just the same.
I think he was involved in the Watergate events somehow
lol
Yeah, boy did it run.
Wonder if somebody knows something? Maybe about a partner?
Pretty impressive move anyway. Right up to what I see as strong resistance at 4.75. And also falling trendline for the last 6 months. If it takes 4.75 out and closes above it, you'll know there is a deal.
Do you know any details about that study?
Do they live more "awake hours" but actually die at a younger age?
Well, there are genuine reasons to be worried. So I guess we go up!
What a phenomenal review! I thank you for putting all of that information together for us all in one place! Very nice.
Only thing that I can think of is that price is up because of increasing demand, while producers are down because of increasing costs of getting future supplies of oil out of the ground. But I think it is a couple years early for that to happen, but maybe it's starting.
Oil production has peaked, you know (or will in the next couple years certainly), while demand will just continue to rise.
Hello neighbor!
Zeev, I have been a long term investor in Cree. I wonder how you think they manipulated the stock? I know they have done secondary offerings, done stock buybacks, and have shorted puts. These all seem like fair play. Do you think they have creatively reported some of their earnings?
And aside from your contention that they manipulated the stock, which gives any sensible trader a good reason to stay away, do you have any fundamental reason for not liking the company?
This is good news! Nice to have that cushion building underneath the stock which helps to support the price in a downdraft like the recent one.
CREE up 16% pre-market - looks like the $3B lawsuit is all washed up. Huge short interest and gapping up. Nice setup.
Cree Announces Results of Special Committee Investigation
Friday October 10, 8:11 am ET
DURHAM, N.C., Oct. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cree, Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE - News) today announced that the special committee of its Board of Directors has completed its previously announced investigation into allegations of corporate wrongdoing made by Eric and Jocelyn Hunter in court filings and otherwise. The special committee's report, delivered to the full Board of Directors, states: "[T]he Committee did not discover any evidence to support any of the allegations contained in [the Hunters'] Complaint or pre-litigation correspondence. Based on the Investigation, the Committee concludes all of the allegations lack merit."
The special committee was established by Cree's Board on June 14, 2003. The committee was composed of independent directors who retained independent legal counsel to assist and advise the committee in its investigation. The special committee issued its report after more than three months of intensive investigation, which included examining over 50,000 pages of documents and conducting more than 25 interviews.
Cree also noted that the Hunters stated in a court filing Thursday that they have decided to dismiss without prejudice their claims alleging federal securities fraud and unfair or deceptive trade practices. As to the remaining claims contained in the Complaint, the Hunters opposed Cree's motion to dismiss which is pending before the court.
GENR - nice breakout to new high on high volume
CREE - shorts bailing - amazing.
CREE gapping up. Could be a nice squeeze coming. huge short interest.
7:24AM Cree upped to Overweight from Equal Weight at ThinkEquity (CREE) 19.36: ThinkEquity upgrades stock after Nichia struck a blow against Taiwanese competitors in court that will likely result in less pressure on LED ASP's in the near-to-medium term. Specifically, Nichia won a preliminary attachment order in Taiwan against EPISTAR Corp, freezing assets due to patent infringement issues regarding LED products. Cree and Nichia have cross licensed patents, but have seen ASP pressure mounting from Taiwanese manufacturers. ThinkEquity believes this represents the first shot across the bow of LED manufacturers that have not licensed IP from Nichia, which could result in reduced LED pricing pressure for Cree going forward. With this court decision, it is likely that Cree will benefit from more stable ASP's as Taiwanese vendors are forced to license IP from Nichia. Firm raises price tgt to $25 from $18.
But I am sure they will cut that in half within 2 or 3 years!
Sounds like a good idea. But I know of no code or other requirements. Perhaps there are local building codes which may cover this.
However, if I own a hundred acres of forest and want to have some trees cut and milled, kiln dried, and put in my house, I see nothing to stop me.
Uh, sure you can. There are many mills which kiln dry lumbar. Not sure what you are talking about as far as "stamped" but thats not necessary.
DROOY appears to be breaking out. could break over 3 today.
RMB$ making a nice move today
New 52-week high RMBS
And here in Central New York we are building about 4000 sq ft on 5 acres, wooded, secluded, less than a mile from town center, about 8 miles from city center, city water, sewer, gas for about 600k - including the lot!
What a country!
52-week high 20.17 - for the record.
Considering the size of the bids that keep coming in - 168,000 now - I was just thinking that it might take out the recent trading range. We'll see.
Seems to have made a nice intra-day pennant. I don't normally trust those, but with the huge bids, I am not so sure.
I can't argue with taking profits.
I have no idea, but someone wants to buy a lot, and badly.
large bids keep rolling in.
DROOY - over 200,000 share bid posted at 2.55 - largest size I have seen on nasdaq
edit - now showing 180,000 at 2.60 - makes you wonder.
edit - now 140,000 at 2.70 - that probably tops it out for the day - OTOH...
she keeps going - glad I was accumulating this recent move down.
I've been there.
Seems they did the same with CREE - almost back to flat. But that one has other "issues" so who knows.
So, were they just clearing out all the stops under 17 on the bu$$?
Looks like RMBS breaks 20 today - new 52 week high.
If a new high is made pre-market, but not during market hours, does that "count" as a new high?
RMBS new 52-week high 19.08
S up 3 right now, 9%.
Must be the reduced sales in May.
No, no... that's not it. I know!
The reduced sales outlook for June!
But look on the bright side - that's _only_ the 22nd consecutive monthly decline.
Anyone got any ideas on a short term top for CREE?
CREE squeezing... vbg
I really _feel_ for any one short this one... not.
IMAX breakout looks like 8.40 to me.
CREE new 52-week high, looks like good volume, huge short interest to keep it moving.
CREE 52-week high 25.42, 32.8% of float short.
CREE really rolling.
Gotta wonder what its like to be short right now in that one.
CREE making nice move today. Moving in on that 52-week high with all time high short interest.
I love 'em!
Actually they are lower calory than regular donuts because they are so puffed up with air.
RMBS rolling up.
