Trying To Be Optimistic? Why has Great Basin Gold not been completely removed from the www.shantagold.com website? Do they still own some shares of this company??? How many???
Please read:
Shanta Gold’s portfolio of properties includes 31 prospecting licences which cover a total surface area of approximately 962 km2.
The joint venture with Great Basin Gold in Chunya district adds another c2,500 km2.
Mining licences are held at both New Luika and Singida and mining production commenced at New Luika during Q3 2012.
Why is this information still on their website??? Have they just not updated their website??? If so very sloppy!

Wits Gold CEO Philip Kotze worked for GBG. Leaving GBG was probably the best move he ever made. I think he is just rubbing a little salt in a few wounds right Ron Thiessen and Bob Dickinson. Really, Wits Gold is just fishing for information like the rest of us and really hoping the Chinese do not put in a serious bid for Burnstone. I am quite positve they are one of the bidders but they do not have a hope in ...
Well, sorry to inform you Phil the Chinese are interested in Burnstone but I think they have no interest in Hollister so...
Now you know!
Brian Morris is now the Vice President Exploration at Premier Gold
bmorris@premiergoldmines.com
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Do any of you know him and could you contact him and ask what he thinks of Hollister etc.?
Brian Morris
VP Exploration
With more than 23 years in the mining industry, Brian's experience encompasses exploration and production in Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Colorado and Alaska. His background includes senior management experience with several highly regarded companies, including Hecla, Barrick and Newmont.
Prior to joining Premier, Brian served as Vice-President and General Manager for Rio Grande Silver, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Hecla Mining Company. In this role, Brian was instrumental in the permitting and re-opening of the Equity Mine and in completing a re-evaluation of the Bulldog Mine, both located in Creede, Colorado.
Brian was also formerly employed at Great Basin Gold Limited in Nevada, most notably as North American Exploration and Business Development Manager between 2008 and 2010, and as Chief Geologist of the high-grade Hollister Gold Mine from 2007 to 2008. Brian worked at Newmont Mining Corporation's Midas Operations (2002-2007) in several senior capacities and also served as a senior geologist at their Nevada District Exploration Group. Prior to this, Brian was a production geologist at the high-grade Meikle Mine for Barrick Gold Corporation.
As the new Vice President of Exploration, Brian will help advance Premier's Canadian-based assets and spearhead Premier's Saddle Project in Nevada. He also will assist in identifying prospective US project opportunities to grow the Company's US property portfolio.
Brian holds a B.A. in Geology from Humboldt State University in California.

Hollister Geology and New Discoveries
Morris, Brian, Great Basin Gold, Ltd., 4000 W. Winnemucca Boulevard, Winnemucca, NV 89445
An extensive gravity survey was completed over the central portion of the Hollister Property. The gravity survey results have been integrated with a number of other geophysical and geologic data sets. Integrated geophysical data includes: controlled-source, audio-frequency, magnetotelluric (CSAMT), airborne and ground acquired magnetic data, airborne radiometric data, and induced polarization (IP) surveys.
The objective was to delineate structures, lithologies and alteration related to veining in the Paleozoic basement.
The gravity survey confirmed and refined the concept of a “hornfels rim” around an interpreted intrusion east of, and along strike from, the main vein system. Hornfels are excellent host for vein mineralization. Mapping of the basement surface by the gravity was confirmed with integration of the available drilling. Based upon this, a complex structural regime is identified across the northeast portion of the survey area. This regime is comprised of ring and radial structures which drop the basement to depth.
Large scale basement structures, first proposed by James Wright, were revised based upon the gravity results. The most significant revision is the addition of a third structure between the two initially proposed along with a complex intersection immediately west of the main vein system.
Evident in all data sets are offsets, terminations and lineations produced by the proposed structures. Perhaps the most important contribution from the gravity survey is the revision to these structures, which indicate entirely new areas for exploration.

Traderine you are rignt the information is outdated and I think Michelle may have used some of this Nevada Mining Association information when she was writing her pertinent GBG article. If her facts are or were outdated???
"...The Hollister Mine has reserves of more than 1,000,000 ounces of high grade gold grading in excess of 1 ounces per ton gold. The Midas Mine had initial mineable reserves of more than 3M oz. of high-grade gold and 25M oz. of silver. Rimrock has three old mercury mines in the area, with one situated directly on top of the main gold ore target, which lies at a major fault intersection. These gold-silver targets at Rimrock have never been drill tested at depth for Midas-Hollister style gold-silver mineralization, nor for Carlin-style gold mineralization. We believe that Rimrock offers good potential to hold a large, high-grade, underground mineable Midas-Hollister-type Low Sulfidation gold-silver deposit..." "In addition to spending on expansion by majors such as Barrick and Goldcorp (NYSE:GG,TSX:G), the NVMA report identifies Great Basin Gold’s investment in the Hollister gold mine project as one the state’s major mining investments." $$$
"Other juniors are who are active participants in Nevada’s gold mining industry include Gold Standard Ventures (TSXV:GSV,NYSE:GSV), which claims to be the third-largest landholder in the Carlin Trend." Michelle Smith wrote for the Gold Investing News on March 13th, 2013.

Pre-Arranged Trades late on Friday?
Sold in huge blocks to lower our GBG price per share?
Any thoughts?
Definition of 'Pre-Arranged Trading'
The buying and selling of futures, options or commodities that occurs between brokers or dealers at an agreed upon price. The practice of pre-arranged trading is illegal under the Commodity Exchange Act and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) because it can create an unfair market for other brokers, traders and investors.
For example, two commodity dealers may use pre-arranged trading to execute risk-free trades at set prices rather than at market prices, thereby limiting risk, gaining tax advantages and limiting the market for other participants.
Happy St. Pat's to all!
I am hoping that Van Eck thinks they will be able to sell their Great Basin Gold shares at a nickle+ per share after April 16th?
I think we all need a little luck of the Irish on March 31st and April 16th 2013.
Please next week, let's focus on following the money if we can and the key players. Ron Thiessen and Bob Dickinson of HDI should be part of that focus. Any dirt would be greatly appreciated that may sway their or the judge(s) decision on how any possible profits will be distributed.
Does anyone have the time or inclination to take a look at how Hunter Dickinson or Ron Thiessen have fared at selling or disposing of mines. IMO unfortunately their track record does not look at all profitable for their shareholders. I am looking for facts and not opinions so...
I know the stress level is mounting, let's try not to chew each others ears off and get focused. We need detrimental facts or dirt ... so... ?
LearningTheTruth, thank you for your insightful posts and I concur with you about the prearranged trades.
(miningweekly.com) – "Toronto-listed Northcliff Resources on Friday said it has added Marchand Snyman and David Copeland to the company's board, effective January 31, and Snyman has also been nominated as chairperson of the board, replacing Robert Dickinson who is stepping down, but remains on the board..."
Bob, a little too much golf and not enough hard work?

More bad news for Hunter Dickinson. Well let's hope for a substantial profit when Bob and Ron Thiessen along with HDI sell Great Basin Gold?
Sorry a typo!

Well they will be chummy once Barrick or Newmont purchase Hollister on April 15th via CIBC WM?
Dear RBKMAS , thank you for the kind words remember it is Mr. GoldenPolarBear to you! In your lurid Bio RBKMAS , it mentions that you are 206 years old, so are you really part vampire?
Seriously, have you invested in this company? What sort of a realistic bounce are you looking for...
Remember if you don't have your health on St. Patrick's Day you have nothing!
Hopefully, Mr.Chen Jinghe Chairman of the Board, Mr.Luo Yingnan President or Mr.Qiu Xiaohua Vice Chairman of Zijin Mining Group Co.,Ltd (the Group, the Company) the large-scale state-owned mining group with the headquarters located in Shanghang County, Fujian Province, People’s Republic of China will show a little interest in Burnstone or Hollister mines or better yet simply purchasing Great Basin Gold this month or next?
http://www.zjky.cn/publish/english/tab1012/
Damnsammit & Wall St. et al., Do you know if in the last six months there has been an updated Hollister Technical Report (an update on minreral reserves) the last one was completed in Feb. 2011. Hmmm?
It states on the GBG website "** Updated resource estimates are released annually during the third quarter. Updated mineral reserve estimates are released each January for the year prior. " Hmmm? $$$?
Has there been tests and drilling in the last six months to get a better idea of the proven Au oz at Hollister? If not why not?
FYI, Good news!
Please note that ..."China's gold mining output has surged recently, but this growth could reverse sharply according to a leading industry figure. "It's urgent for Chinese companies to develop gold mines overseas," says Ren Guangzhi, investment manager at Zijin Mining Group, owner of China's biggest gold mine. Unless new deposits are found and developed soon, he believes China's reserves – including gold-only mines now producing 200 tonnes per year – could run out within six years."
Hollister is our Diamond in the rough!
Please take a look at these realistic recommendations on the link provided. Finances in 2010 - 2013 are an obvious issue for Great Basin Gold, Ron Thiessen and Robert Dickinson; I think Barrick or Newmont would be able to eventually solve these issues so...
http://www.epa.gov/region9/nepa/letters/nv/hollister/hollister-undergroundmine-proj-deis.pdf
Remember the third largest mine in the world, Newmont’s largest open pit on the Carlin Trend – dubbed by many as the “most prolific goldfield in the Western hemisphere.” http://www.newmont.com/north-america/nevada/gold-quarry is literally just up the road, north west of our Hollister property! $$$
I am starting to feel a little more confident, about what might be in our potential biddder's envelopes and the Canadian Imperial Bank of Comerce World Markets does not get involved with minor acquisitions or auctions so... $$$
If there is a large profit after the sale of all assets ??? The judge in British Columbia will help ensure that the funds are properly ditributed to all GBG shareholders from the Hollister property. If not probably our GBG chartered accountant(s) Ronald Thiessen will drum up million of dollars in expenses and the funds will go to those expenses. From what I understand all expenses have been determined at this point for Burnstone. Has the same been done or provided for Hollister?
Happy St. Patrick's to everyone!
Sorry Ferdi our former misguided CEO of Great Basin Gold, please forgive me Ferdi; I know your name is not "Fred" it was simply a quote from an article.
Well we all make mistakes! As you know Ferdi Dippenaar you, were very penny wise and pound foolish in 2010 - 2012 with our funds!
It was brilliant of you to cash in many of your shares GBG around the 40+ cent mark prior to this stock plummeting.
Have you picked up a pile of these shares at a penny along with Ron Thiessen and Robert Dickinson? Hmmm! Enquiring minds want to know.
In 2010 "Great Basin Gold President and Chief Executive Officer Fred Dippenaar said Wednesday the publication of the notice of intent to begin scoping for the EIS was within the time frame the company had anticipated.
“While waiting for the NOI process to be completed, Rodeo Creek, in conjunction with the third-party EIS contractor and the BLM, was actively gathering information, developing various field survey protocols and a groundwater hydrology model, as well as drafting the first two chapters of the EIS,” he said in an announcement.
The mine portal is in old East Pit from mining in the early 1990s, and the surface disturbance would include exploration drilling, new facilities and road changes. Ore would be processed off site.
“Cultural issues and Native American concerns are the primary issues,” Stadelman said.
The Hollister Project is in the area of the Tosawihi Quarries District, where the Western Shoshone mined chert (silica) to make arrowheads and tools as long as 8,000 years ago.
Great Basin Gold also announced Wednesday that the first gold pour at its Esmeralda Mill near Hawthorne that processes Hollister test ore was April 14. The company additionally reported that it has reached an agreement with Newmont Mining Corp. to process a stockpile of ore at Hollister.
Newmont agreed to buy 35,000 to 50,000 tons of ore, and Great Basin stated it expects 28,000 gold equivalent ounces to be recovered under the Newmont agreement for net proceeds of $26.3 million." As stated in the Elko Daily Free Press 4-23-10
Newmont will be very interested in Hollister!

Carlin-Nevada Complex Is The Third Biggest Gold Mine In The World
It is located in Nevada as most of us already know.
It produced 1.735 million ounces in 2010. Wow!
The mine is owned by Newmont Mining Corp. Let's hope they are the purchaser of Hollister?
It includes both open-pit and underground operations.
Maybe we are all a little too focused on or infatuated with Burnstone?
I think Hollister is the real diamond in the rough? If only it was being comercially mined and not trial mined... $$$

Time for some green beer!
Imagine -4.97 % for the day!
Well this pps makes absolutely no sense with the positive news we have been provided with multiple bidders and potential purchasers of Great Basin Gold.
Obviously, the price of this share is being controlled and continually pummelled; they do not want these shares flagged for if we started to see a daily or weekly profit in the pps the vultures would be on the attack.
I just hope the judge(s) takes this into account when they give their final rulings and verdict on what should be distributed to the creditors and the impoverished shareholders.
I am becoming a little concerned!
I completely concur with your thoughts!
Bravo, and well stated.
Unfortunately, I will not bank on it until mid April though! Really, I needed the holiday this month. Et voilà, C'est la vie.
If Harmony, China Gold International Resources or AngloAshanti purchase Burnstone and Freeport-McMoran Copper & Gold Inc. or GoldCorp Inc purchase Hollister we will probably get more per Great Basin Gold Share. I want separate high bids adding up to $1 billion + or better yet $2 billion.
My worry is Barrick or Newmont will come in with one bid for everything around $800 million. With a legally binding take it or leave it clause. Not good! IMO
Thank you D. and I concur!
I must admit, I am pumping but not to dump. GBG is not the Holy Grail but it may become a small golden chalice for me.
Wishing everyone a Happy St. Patrick's Day and a pot of gold next month.
Unfortunately, if GBG sells for $ 500 million the shareholders will see 0 pps in my humble opinion. If it sells for a billion plus well now we are talking...
Damnsammit take a look back; I mentioned seven bids prior to it all being officially announced!
I stated that the Trillion dollar valuation of GBG was a joke in my very next post. I must admit, I do not read all of the post so...
I do think the entire company is worth around $19 billion dollars.
24 million Au oz * $1592 oz = $ 38 208 000 000 / 2 ( expenses ) = $ 19 104 000 000
Unfortunately, it will probably not sell for anything near what it is worth.
I am hoping for a dime per GBG share and dreaming about a $1 + pps
I really could use, no I deserve a week at the Bellagio http://www.bellagio.com/es/ and it is 65 degrees and sunny today in Vegas so...
"...China National Gold is the country's largest gold company in terms of reserves, the newspaper said, and its revenue in 2012 rose 27.1% to touch 100.6 billion yuan (US$16.18 billion) from the previous year.
The company posted a profit of 4.45 billion yuan (US$715.6 million) last year, placing it at the 47th place among Chinese state-owned enterprises, the newspaper added..." as stated in the W. China Times.
It would be wise of the Chinese to acquire Burnstone; think of the potential profit they will make over the next twenty years?
I do not think they would be interested in Hollister. Too much red tape?
I concur! Tamaman wrote~
"Barrick Gold has assets all over the world. In Africa? Kenya. Tanzania. With offices in both places. They also have a headquarters in Johannesburg SA, but no assets in SA. Hm. The worlds richest area in gold. It would not be an issue for Barrick Africa to issue a billion dollars worth of stock not spending a penny in cash on GBG and merge/acquire the company. And the best part? The tranter deal will be solved and BEE will all stay intact with no change to be made which I believe is of most importance for both sides of the deal."
Do you think the GBGLF shareholders will be rewarded over a dime or a dollar per share if this scenario comes about?
If Barrick issues another billion dollars worth of their shares which is peanuts for them on Feb 16th to CIBC World Markets; they will most likely walk away with Hollister etc and as the official pumper of GBGLF I will be at the Bellagio http://www.bellagio.com/ the following week!
Barrick would be the perfect fit please take a look at www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-DN8-USf74
Good news, Gold is at $1596!
