Pokersam, I'm gonna stick my neck out here,
I am still in the DEN, but my eyes have been stinging from cryin so much -->> OUCH, OUCH, OUCH
I think the short term top is in and I just bought few more MRVL puts (Dec 45 @ 1.4) Still got all my others from couple of weeks ago BUT, the reason that I think the st top is here is the 60 min COMP chart posted below. Note all the different DR Joe type of "Low to Hi" trend lines, as well as the "Hi To Hi" trend lines. Lookin for a 100 Point drop to bottom trend line, but hoppin for worse!!!
Be warned that I always get this right when I've been afraid to get in,
AND I always get this wrong when I trust my judgement and make My MOVE.
Ya haven't threatened to throw me overboard yet, LOL

kovu/husk ref: RYVYX/RYVNX
These 2, as well as all the leveraged funds, "STRIVE" for a particular ratio of amplification of an index. It is my understanding that this is done by using combination of futures, options, and stock. This would dictate that getting the exact target ratio would be pretty tuff and variable.
Also, thru waterhouse, the profunds have 2 series for each family -- example USPIX and USPSX. Waterhouse charges a fee for the PIX series and no fee for the PSX series. If you do a comparison chart for the two funds, most of the time they appear to have identical price characteristics, but other times they vary slightly from each other. I think differences may stem from distribution of dividends, but I really do not know. They are quoted as:
Investor Class Service Class
Ticker__CUSIP__Fund# Ticker__CUSIP__Fund#
USPIX__743185-845__009 USPSX__743185-837__029
I do not know what the distinction between Investor Class and Service Class is. Mr Cassandra/MVP probably kwows a lot of the details and intricacies of these types of funds.

husk, Well Said, I been bear food I been and Bull food,
and to your point, catching the turns like many here is the ultimate swing.
Catching the turns to go Long or to CASH,
even if one cannot go short or -2x funds,
will be tremendously more profitable for retirement,
Again thanks to all who post here and I am learning -- I am a slow learner, ya gotta keep coaching ME,

Steve, I used to get burnt that way,

Definition Confusion at Trending123.com is part of the disagreement,
LOOK at their examples again -- they have top 2 examples labeled one way, and they have """reversed""" the labels on the two LARGE Bottom Examples
AND, the bottom examples appear to be the ones that kenwong posted.
RST Explanation Again, at Trending123.com,
Very Interesting,
"A Megaphone Top" is formed because the stock makes a series of higher highs and lower lows. The Megaphone Top """usually""" consists of three ascending peaks and two descending troughs. The signal that the pattern is complete occurs when prices fall below the lower low.
---------------------------------------------
"A Megaphone Bottom" also known as a Broadening Bottom is considered a bullish signal, indicating that the current downtrend may reverse to form a new uptrend.
This rare formation can be recognized by the successively higher highs and lower lows, which form after a downward move.
"""Usually""", two higher highs between three lower lows form the pattern, which is completed when prices break above the second higher high and do not fall below it.
The pattern is completed when, """usually""" on the third upswing within the pattern, prices break above the prior high but fail to fall below this level again.

Interesting...I know the day isn't over yet, but volume seems kind of light. I've had my finger on the put trigger all day but haven't pulled yet. I'm wondering if the market will continue to hover around the highs until the close or get the rug pulled out from under it like last week. I guess we'll know in about an hour.

Vestor, your experiences mimic mine, OR maybe mine mimic yours!!!!
Everything fails occasionally, I watch things fall into place like clockwork. I continually jump on board at the worst possible moment, maybe the one signal failure in months to years,
bobjack
mvp, in 1987 I didn't know anything about the market, but i was becoming aware in 1999. I remember gettin haircuts in 2000 and all the stylists talking about stocks. Some had a stock picking club. Everbody was interested in the market.
All of "John Q. Public" isn't talkin YET, maybe in 2006 or 2007. I made 750K in 99-2000 from 300K IRA, and then lost 850K, before I had enough sense to get out. I walk around with about 2/3 of my behind missing, because I have been perma-bull, and then perma-bear, BOTH very hazardous to your financial and mental health.
I AM UTTERLY AMAZED at the generosity of this board, and the ability to interact and "disagree or agree" with good manners (not perfect, but very good), and apologies for our weak moments!!

mvp, thanks for the info,
i use TD Waterhouse, I have a sense of security from their size and they have a local office, unlike some of the others, BUT, I am pretty unhappy with them in lots of ways such as this. TD is being taken over by ameritrade, who took over datek, things may get noticeably better, BUT, maybe NOT.
I will consider brownco
well, I'm off to church,
thanks again,

Hi camelguy, You follow scamman's R3 n Dragon Tracks, don't you??
I scanned back thru a bunch of posting on spy board at CS, and saw no mention of recent R3 in message titles.
Can you throw out any info for the last few weeks (about R3's).
Looks like CME EMINI S&P had 35492 puts to 15874 calls on Fri
P/C=2.24
Looks like CME EMINI S&P had 72804 puts to 20870 calls on Thur

Hi Burk,
This chart from VTO shows where (in the past) the CPC 21 dma hi has been in sync with the price hi, where most times it is 180 deg out of sync.
I know you rely on this, please comment on this situation.
thanks,

Poker #4??
I sure hope not, I am retireing next week and I cannot stand too big a loss.

Pokersam, I gotta warn ya,
You are on thin ice, I have loaded up with puts, and my 2 little roth IRAs as well as my reg IRA are in -2X funds.

blasher, You asked
"can you daytrade options without fear of getting that notice from your broker about selling too quickly ??
I am a short-term trader (2- to 7- day holds) and sometimes have gotten a notice from my broker if my account dips below $25,000 and I try to sell in less than 4-days.
So, are options treated differently ??"
I am in the same exact situation (for the last 2 weeks),
floating above and below 25K.
TDWaterhouse treats options differently. I assume that would be the same with all brokers. I was designated pattern daytrader. I have been locked out of buying stock, till I get above the 25K, but I have been able to daytrade options at will.

blasher, thank you,

Hi Carl, I had clicked on his link with no problems,
I woulda been VERY ticked like yourself for the reboot, but I do not think his link intentially causes any problems,
he appears to have a Group of his own on i-hub. He has 4 post on this group, now 5 counting his response to me. I suppose he just stops in on other groups to throw out any kind of comment, just to get his advertisements seen -- you clicked on them, as I had also done. I suppose many others have done it also -- free spam advertising. If he went to every group here and posted (without the obvious and obnoxious advertisements), that is his priveledge. He may be a great guy on his group, and could be here.
I am just a lurker, trying to learn. I made 3/4 Million bucks in nasdaq bubble, and lost it all and then 1/3 of my 401 starting balance. I kept thinking the market would "Come Back". My story sounds much like Gleno's, I think. I also lost 150K tring to wheel n deal options in my reg acct - that was 2/3 of that account
I started out with "Wade Cook's books" (What a Joke).
I spent lots of money on Bernie Schaeffer rec.s for few years. He had some very good calls and some disasters.
Poor money management (Spell that GREED and hanging on to losers) caused me to do worse than I could have.
I have wondered about most of the other pay services -- this site has been great to hear about these other experiences and thoughts on pay services.
Yup, sheeples and newbys to the slaughter, I been there,
