Is anything going on with that Stock, is the Swap happening?
The masters definitely...
What about Tom Scholz from Boston, they were really big up here for a spell...
Right on wonder, right on, that is the real center of any problems we have...
really liked the way you said it, reposting it again,
"We need ethics and morality back in the people as a whole before anything will change. That includes CEO's that destroy and take instead of feeling a responsibility to both their employees and their shareholders. Wordperfect CEO a good example. Through his efforts, many people succeeded, his employees loved him and he did great things for the company family, sharing yet succeeding well for himself and his own family. Unfortunately, CEO's like that are few and far between......but you cannot legislate that, it comes from within, with a love of mankind. "
Absolutely Dude!
For sure Cat, but the way I read it up here, at least in most of our media, including our right-wing newspaper, they are saying the Right is too control by the Tea Party, and up here they are referred to as a fringe party that is dominating the Right.
My frustration is more that the Right is no longer an alternative for many because of the Tea Party's present involvement, just at a time we need the Right's input to solve problems.
The Right helps build up, the Tea Party seems to only destroy and tear down...
Hey tex is anything happening currently, is the swap taking place at some point?
Wow that is deep eh...how pathetic that there is still an argument for some...
"But are they really 10 or 20 times smarter than the corporate leaders of past generations?"
Don't kid yourselves, the GroupThink or GangThought are very strong and blinding with the Hijacked Right repubs IMO.
The repubs have become experts at smoke & mirrors. Framing the questions the way they want, and then being so loud and obnoxious that they get heard the most.
And then you wonder why you have an uncivilized political environment in the USA? The repuds and Hijacked Right are quite unreal at this point and it is showing more each day to more and more people.
We have problems up here too, no doubt, but man when measured against the US, you guys have gone way overboard.
Try and direct the stats as you wish, in the end the truth always surfaces. Just takes some time, sometimes...
Interesting read; The USA is unfortunately saddled with more unequal distribution, way more... and we think we have a problem!!!
The corporate greedfest undermines Canada
By JAY BRYAN, The Gazette July 14, 2011
We all know the cynical catchphrase: "The rich get richer and the poor get poorer." Sometimes we're thankful that life isn't that way in a country like Canada.
Except that to an increasing degree, it actually is.
Inequality in Canada, which was shrinking for decades, has shot back up since the 1990s, reaching a state where it's no longer just a concern for labour unions and left-wing politicians.
Wednesday, one of the country's leading think tanks on business issues, the Conference Board of Canada, issued a report warning that too much inequality could actually sap economic growth, wasting some people's skills and undermining social cohesion.
The backdrop to this is a phenomenon that has taken hold in many countries, most notably the U.S., where the rich-get-richer trend is the strongest you'll find among wealthy countries.
Canada is around the middle of the pack, with more income inequality than countries like Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Netherlands, Finland or Australia, but less than Ireland, Britain, Italy or the U.S.
But even in Canada, the change has been striking. If you chop the population into five equal chunks, the top 20 per cent of income earners increased its share of total Canadian incomes so markedly over the past two decades that every other group lost ground.
And most of the growth in inequality was driven by the very richest within this top 20 per cent. Researcher Armine Yalnizyan with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives has shown that the top one per cent took home fully one-third of all income gains earned in Canada from 1997 to 2007.
These lucky ones are the people you see lionized in business publications - the top corporate leaders whose pay has skyrocketed into the millions and tens of millions, rising many times faster than the wages of those who work at lower levels.
At the other end of the scale, the situation hasn't become so bad that the real incomes of poorer Canadians are actually dropping, but their gains have been tiny.
You can imagine what it does to work incentives when you spend years breaking your back as an office cleaner or assembly-line worker, only to find that you just can't hope to get ahead.
While some economists believe that rising inequality is just a result of a high-tech economy in which the most skilled people get more and more of life's rewards, there's also evidence that deliberate choices by political leaders have pushed this trend along.
In the U.S., researchers have found that falling levels of unionization and lagging minimum wages contributed significantly to keeping lower-wage workers down.
In Canada, there's evidence that retirees have become more vulnerable to lagging incomes in the past 15 years or so.
That's sad, since it partly reverses one of the great public policy successes of recent Canadian history.
The introduction of the Canada and Quebec Pension Plans virtually wiped out poverty among those over 65, with old-age poverty - defined as the number earning less than half Canada's median income - plunging from 33 per cent of seniors in 1977 to just 3.9 per cent in 1995.
But with investment income taking a beating during the stock market crashes and ultralow interest rates that characterized much of this period, government pensions didn't rise enough to lean against this trend, notes Conference Board analyst Brenda Lafleur. Reflecting this, senior poverty climbed back up to 11.5 per cent in 2009.
It's clear that an enrichment of government pensions is long overdue.
But the big contributor to income inequality, as we saw earlier, was at the top. The biggest excesses are generally found in the U.S., but executives in Canada and other countries are hastening to catch up.
Even in the emerging powerhouses of China and India, inequality is rising, Lafleur said.
Of course, the corporate mantra is that top executives are making millions because they're possessed of a unique genius that enriches their companies, and thereby all of society.
But are they really 10 or 20 times smarter than the corporate leaders of past generations?
And excuse the indelicate question, but what of the huge incomes earned by lousy corporate bosses who actually run their firms into the ground?
Beyond this, is it really fair to keep cutting taxes on the very richest, which has been a theme for the past decade or more?
It will be hard to rein in the corporate greediest, but we might want to look to the countries that have figured out how to create high standards of living without such corrosively huge inequality.
If Denmark, Sweden and Austria can be rich societies that remain much more fair, surely Canadians aren't so dumb that we can't learn from their successes.

lol there must be a whole tribe of them...lol
Bring warm clothes, can get cold camping out in the Fall...
Sounds like fun, you should go for it...
"Anyone here seen a real Sasquatch?"
Yeah she gave birth to my wife...
There is definitely different views on that subject, but reasonableness will hopefully allow for a solution.
Say as you will, I highly doubt resetting tax rates on the wealthiest Americans to where they have been historically, before Bush, will not be an area Obama will negotiate, and most Americans don't want him too.
The rates are at 40 year lows and we have a huge deficit. This is not rocket science.
So yup, hoping up here too for a compromise, but I think many will be surprised in that the left will not back down this time, this will surprise people I think...
Say as you wish, the fallout will be painful and we will see who is held to account by the American public in 2012.
Wow man, women, really?
How hard do you have to dig to find what satisfies you?
Knock yourself out...
Amen Bro, Amen...
Ken, We The People elected a man as President.
When the side that lost starts to live up to The Will of The People, and respect that fact - That The Will of The People Has Spoken, then you will be a lot better off.
Where on your scale are the ones who lost the election I think is more appropriate, because that is the crux of the problem. They do not want him as President and will not submit to The Will of The People as IT HAS SPOKEN.
It is very unfortunate that there seems to be no resolution possible, and like most times the ones who are the most vulnerable will be the most hurt.
I'm currently watching our largest trading partner, Shining Light for the Free-World and Economic Influencer of the Planet argue like children.
And will stand against each other instead of compromise.
From the Good Book, is what I see happening in front of us and it is troubling. It will affect many very vulnerable people very negatively IMO.
"Knowing their thoughts, he said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand."
I think it's time for the Bat Signal Commissioner.
Only the Caped Crusader can help us all at this point...lol
Not looking like there will be a deal in time, so the political fallout will increase unfortunately...I guess some will be happy.
Yup, definitely need Batman at this point Tex...lol
Samples,
Samples, my apologies for the Southern reference. You are absolutely correct and I was wrong to infer the reference, I am sorry.
Stock it is hard to get people to see things they don't want to see.
Many of the posts here post negative articles that they seem to try and sell each other on, on how bad Obama is, it is quite funny actually, when you see how much effort is being spent on trying to convince each other of what they already are convinced of.
It is like watching two salesman at a party trying to sell each other the same product. And of course they agree with each other...lol
Samples, my apologies for the Southern reference. You are absolutely correct and I was wrong to infer the reference, I am sorry.
LOL are you paid to advertise for the Repubs or are you just very bored...lol
Keep it up, your changing everybody's mind, one at a time...lol
No for sure stock, the extremes on the left nobody wants. Move to Cuba if ya want, ya know...
And no doubts, of course cuts are needed...Hell man the RIGHT is needed. And by having a wall up, by just fighting and not working together, progress is not happening fast enough and many, many are truly suffering man...
Anyways...got to do some work...
Cheers,
I'll simplify it for YOU...
With your mantra you are asserting that there is only one kind of conservative, and that is best represented by the extreme fringe called the Tea Party.
And that one can not have that proud label of being a conservative if they do not do as I do and say as I say, and let's see who can be the most demanding and forceful, and most extreme. heck we'll route each other onto farther and farther extremes...
This is why you find it hard to see how I could be a conservative and reply with a simpleton argument...
We will not give into anything Obama and the democrats want and we will take our ball and go home, unless people play exactly as we say and do as we command.
No no!!! It is wrong!
The current extreme right views being espoused and the way it is being done are an insult to the conservative, republican way of being in a democratic society.
I believe marriage belongs between a woman and man, no deviations. But I do not believe gays should be otherwise assaulted or prejudiced against
I do not believe in abortion as birth control, but would not want a 16 year old seeking out a shady mexican hospital to have an abortion in also.
The list goes on and on. Right view points that have some compassion, that have some compromise, that are truthful and not designed for the simpleton's comprehension or easy jingle-ability selling of the extreme's viewpoint.
The right has been hijacked when it could be contributing in good faith, it is simply looking to line the pockets of the uber-wealthy, and to hell with everyone else.
And the lack of respect for the MAN who won the election, and the lack of good faith in contributing to the governance of your country is what is turning people (finally) away from the current Tea-Prty-Palin extremists.
I don't expect many to agree, but this is what I see...
"The British had similar thoughts about the colonists too."
Yeah okay...
An example of what I was referring to in a prior post is well exemplified with the post this responds to...
Absolutely Tex, actually I agree with you man.
Again I criticize those I care about, including Canada. But I would take a world with an America not at her best, then a world without America at all, any day of the week...
Many have the sentiment here that America is the eldest brother, the first born. We are the younger brother. Perhaps a bit mouthy but we will usually have your back, and definitely know who are family is...
Cheers man,
LMAO, the old eskimo way eh...lol
Hey Stock I have this mother-in-law... like if you have any contacts on some ice-flows nearby, maybe we should have a chat...lol
LMAO, and we thought investing was a way of making money... I'm with you, I'll watch Cat in the Walmarts...lol
Huh? (ran out of posts yesterday)
Let's look at your words Bruce and try and look at things without a steep bias...
"Joda you seem remarkably
opinionated, though not particularly logical nor enlightened
in your tirade of posts commenting on what should be done
in The US of A."
Huh, really, you have the lock on logic and enlightenment, but others should not voice their views.
Arrogant much?
Oh and BTW, as long as America screws things up for the rest of the world, then expect some dissenting voices.
Too bad if you don't like it. Suck it up!
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but you are Canadian, pas aussi?
I live a large portion of my life in Canada, Toronto, to be exact, have a place there (Yorkville - Bay/Bloor) for Business purposes, so I know first hand of what I talk."
First off, if I were you I would not attempt to speak French, you sound very American when you do.
We have many Americans living in Canada, particularly in Toronto. And by living here then you SHOULD know how diverse Canada is. Toronto life is very different to Quebec life, or BC life or Alberta life and on and on...
It is like saying I've lived in New york so I understand all of the USA, doesn'ty work like that here, nor in your country I would imagine.
And yes I am Canadian. Again if America is going to threaten the world with it's reckless leaders and capitalist criminals then expect some criticism. Gee when you guys don't like a leader you declare war on them and their country - Hello Iraq.
So the rest of world critisizes you and you get hurt. Well tough beans, next time try not to be so greedy.
next...
"I would think you would be better served commenting on the Canadian problems of high taxation, dubious healthcare, otherwise foreign policy, expensive shopping, higher energy (gas) prices, infrastructure decay etc. than ripping into US
policies."
I would be better served..?
My goodness how arrogant are you?
Yes there is no doubt many many challenges face Canada. If you would be familiar with ALL my views I am the harshest critic of my own country than any other.
I am not ripping into US policies, just George Bush's and your maniacal Right Wing Republican Party that has been hijacked by Loonie birds. I am a Conservative/Republican, but the Right today has lost it. Since Bush they are simply ridiculous.
Sit back and let the someone competent handle things for a change. I know Obama is a change from Bush, but watch and learn when a competent person holds that office...
You gave a fool 8 years, Obama deserves more then 2 or 3, just based on IQ difference alone from George...not to mention what each one inherited, unreal...
next...
"Nothing you are saying is new, we know it all and are well aware of it. How are you guys doing? without your holier than thou blinkers HuH? Housing bubble hitting yet? course not! Ha, just
wait for the next shoe to drop end of the year."
No no man, here you are way out of line. I have never held a holier then thou attitude. I have compared our medical systems with the 9% of GDP compared to 16% GDP but aside from that, no, those are not my thoughts.
I love America, have family and life there too, and am very P.O. with the recent happenings in the States and the US's loss of it's power in the world.
This is why I vent. If one doesn't care they have no real view or care...
One area where we are in definite agreement is I think the American economy will be the one to perform in 2011 and 2012, better then Canada's in my view.
I have never bet against American Business. Have never shorted a company in my life. Do not believe in it, and history has shown that those who gamble against American business usually lose.
I have great faith going forward, as long as lessons are learnt from the past.
When lessons just get justified away, and viewpoints become tribal mantras of "screw the other guy" to fix a problem, then America does not work.
Your greatness is largely attributed to your ability in dusting yourselves off, when you get knocked down, and lifting yourselves back up. America does this better then any country ever has before or does now.
But it is hard to do that when all problems get reduced to Tea-Party type mantras and fools.
And anytime I want comment sir, I will. I'm a born North American and I will do as I please thank you.
And how much of that revenue comes from the wealtiest, and how much is borne by the common person.
The wealthy must pay more tax!
How much are the wealthy paying?
Why are the rich paying such low taxes?
Why does a rich hedge fund pay less tax than a waitress?
Why is the percentage of wealth concentrated at the top the highest it has been since the great depression?
These arguments do not have to be sold or explained.
You don't need links for common sense.
Oh, wow a problem has only one right solution?
of course, according the the people who have raped this country we should only consider their solution.
...or they will stop playing and take their ball home...
Um but wait,
Why are the rich paying the lowest taxes then at any point in history?
We do not need to look any where else, or do any thing else but restore taxation back to historical norms.
Sorry if this upsets the low tax paying wealthy, but too bad, it is coming and the more they try and spin their arguments the more the Left will have fodder, IMO.
Hear.
Um no what you are hearing is a raising of taxes to get closer to where they have always been before being manipulated by the Bush/Cheney administration for the wealthy.
If I need 3 meals a day to live, but have been reduced to one meal per day because the rich want more food. Then increasing my meals back to three a day is not RAISING what I get, but putting it back in balance.
Of course your "Raising Taxes" statement is a favorite of the propaganda specialists though, in painting a false picture.
No substance, but plenty of spin on the Rights' side, that's for sure...
Time to retire for many IMO
Wow man, wow...
Your post does not even warrant any type of coherent response, it is so out there...
Dude that is so cool...
You'll make me think twice now next time I'm in my Walmart...
And what it makes it really bad is even though they are ripping us off, they are the loudest voices for taking away from things like teachers, police, city workers and other societal benefits.
So their taxes won't go up from being the lowest at any point in the country's history?
It is an outrage and is only a matter of time before the fire spreads with the more arguing the repubs keep doing, IMO
Context only confuses the uneducated and ill-informed from the messaging of the Republican CNBC Party of America to let the wealthy have even more percentage of the wealth.
The wealthy now have a higher concentration of wealth than at any other time in America's history since the great depression!!!
America's taxes on the wealthy are at ALL-TIME Historical LOWS!!!
Hello McFly, Hello...
Only a matter of time before more wake up IMO
"WASHINGTON STOP SPENDING MONEY!"
ON CORPORATE AND THE WEALTHY'S WELFARE!!!
WASHINGTON START TAXING THE RICH AT THE SAME LEVEL AS ALL CITIZENS!!!
REPUBLICANS, START CARING HALF AS MUCH FOR AMERICA AS YOU DO YOUR OWN FOREIGN OFF-SHORE ACCOUNTS!!!
REPUBLICANS, STOP KIDNAPPING THE RIGHT'S AGENDA TO THEM EXTREMES.
GIVE ME A REAGAN NOT A PALIN, BUSH BS PERSON!!!
I AM A REPUBLICAN, WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO READ ABOUT THE STUPIDITY, WHAT ABOUT WORKING WITH THE GOVERNMENT THAT WAS ELECTED BY THE PEOPLE?
THE RIGHT ARE QUICKLY RUNNING OUT OF ARGUMENTS THE MORE THEY SHOW THEIR TRUE COLORS.
LIKE NOW WITH THESE NEGOTIATIONS (OR REPUBLICAN DO AS WE SAY, EVEN THOUGH WE WERE NOT ELECTED, OR WE WON'T PLAY AT ALL)
REPUBLICANS NEED A GOOD SPANKING AND A TIME OUT!!!
Really?
Realsearch? Have you looked at the actions of Greenspan, or his lack of inaction.
Which just - by chance - charmed in so well with Bush's CNBC Party of America.
Oh and that little thing called Oil.
Gee, ya think the Bush family has made any oil profits?
Ya think Iraq has contributed to that?
Oh and who owns Haliburton?
Oh and what about the Hedgies, wanting to pay less tax then a waitress. Yeah for sure man, anyone can see the righteousness in that?
Yeah, yeah, clean as a whistle all the guys in the Republican CNBC Party of America.
Spin all you want, it is in vain. History always uncovers the truth and Bush will be a case in point for future students on what a bad president is, in many many ways.
They will SELL anything, as long as they perceive they will have more dollars at the end, the consequences and principles are not considered, IMO.
They older generation of White only Republicans has got to go. Enough oldman solutions for TODAYS challenges...Retire already!!!
..we need a changing of the guard and Obama is just the start of that.
Obama's race has nothing to do with this - RIGHT
Come on ByMor, maybe not for you but to say that Obama's race is not an issue in American politics...
...with Southeners? with many?
Come on man...for sure it is...
