I am actually intrigued by the combination of the aeroponics technology and the tissue culture/proprietary cultivars.....anyone can start a cannabis growing company. But the person who controls the growing technology AND the strains everyone else wants to buy, is in a great position.
I also like the move to Boston and the connections with the group doing medical marijuana research.
You have a company with technology to grow cannabis and control the growing conditions for optimal production of the chemicals you are after, as well as meeting the stringent requirements of pharmaceutical production. You combine this with the proprietary cultivars developed with that technology, and the location and groups that are active in this area of medicine...very interesting synergy.
Also, the CEO has experience with photosynthetic bacteria applications. THAT is an interesting future possibility. I read an article that notes that if the "production processes" shift to cellular technology versus growing the actual plants, that could be a game-breaker for a lot of companies investing in land cultivations. Photosynthetic bacteria and proprietary cannabis cultivars sounds really interesting to me.
So I am willing to roll the dice on this. AND cannabis aside, a few years down the road, when the market for urban agriculture really takes off, this company is positioned to move into that arena with more crops. At some point land costs, climate change, agriculture problems, and increasing food demands will drive the need for a better way to provide food. This company's technology is positioned for that as well. Cannabis is the first and most lucrative crop to get things moving.
