Thank you. It was interesting reading, especially these two facts: (1) The stock certificate was issued on June 1, 1964. AT & T did a 2:1 forward split on June 23, 1964. Hmmmmm.
The other interesting item is that they were serious about their dividends back then. For example, the last two years they owned the stock, the dividends were $2.60 a share. What would that be now, about $10.00 a share?
TCLL chart - Thoughts on this turkey? News out today is posted under the chart. I know squat about the telecom sector, but this must've been good news, look at the volume.

OT: Just for grins, I bought an old AT & T stock certificate on eBay, issued in 1964 and sold in 1971. The certificate is for 26 shares.
Does anyone know of a web site that will show me the historical prices per share that far back?
TIA.

But the most important question, Buzz. Is it getting jiggy yet?
OT: Are you old enough to remember "D" and "E" tickets at Disneyland?
"E" ticket rides were always the best. A book of 10 "B" and "C" tickets, 6 "D" tickets, and 3 "E" tickets was $15.00.
We're talking 1967 here...
I agree with flota. The whole party could be over by 10:00 in the morning.
Or hell, it may run up to 50 cents. That's why trading pinks is (A) very exciting and (B) very risky.
My darling wife, (who is also sexy) was lucky enough to be in this POS when it started running. I think she got in at .021 or something like that.
I, on the other hand, missed the boat. "Nah," I said "that thing will never run."
*SIGH*
SpillWay, and his famous last words.
Darn, up 12%... everyone disobeyed the rule: "Buy on rumor, sell on news".
See message #11091 for the attempt at humor in my post.
Todd, best of luck to you whichever way you go.
Nothing worse than a job you hate with a passion, especially if the benefits are good.
My son-in-law works for a railroad, terrific pay, great bennefits, crappy hours, and a schedule that really sucks. But he loves his job. Go figure.
Well, things were pretty much back to normal today, I'm pleased to say.
My boss said he was "glad we cleared the air" and the we should "just put this behind us and move forward".
I realized that my attitude was all wrong. It's his damn family and I'm not so sure I wouldn't do the same thing if I were in his shoes. Who am I to be so judgemental? He was an ass about the whole thing, sure, but OTOH I wasn't completely blameless either.
I should have kept my big mouth shut about his family, is what it boils down to.
Thanks for the info on the health insurance. I don't have any health problems except for a bad case of the dumbass, but I've never had a by-pass surgery or anything like that.
The last time I was in the hospital was 6 years ago to have a hernia fixed. I got the hernia from playing soccer with my granddaughters. HA! Fifty year old man playin soccer with a bunch of 10-year-olds. I'm lucky I didn't bust my fool head.
These weren't covered by an analyst at Fulcrum were they?
My goodness. Who would have possibly thought an upstanding pillar of the community like an analyst for Rectum Global Partners could do such a thing?
I'm shocked, I tell you. Absolutely shocked.
And to think that I have long maintained that stock prices are never manipulated by rumor or inuendo.
...I'll quit if it hurts.
...your check is in the mail.
...it's never used any oil.
These and other fairy tales brought to you by Bernie Ebbers Entertainment, Inc.
Thank you. Good point, and that's why I asked for other points of view. At this point in my life I need all the encouragement I can get.
Doc, I have three cats in the house. I wake up to the smell of PP in the mornings.
Gents and ladies, I may be joining the ranks of full-time traders shortly.
My boss's 69-year-old uncle is still working in our office. He is absolutely worthless, should have retired long ago, but the boss (his nephew) keeps him on the payroll at $80,000 a year, a full ten grand a year more than I make, and I've been there 14 years and my peers are making between 75-85k a year in my area.
Well, about a month ago I said something sarcastic about the money we're paying his uncle during a budget meeting and my boss really got pissed off.
Then the other day I went out to the warehouse to resolve an inventory issue and my boss couldn't find me at my desk, so he wrote me a letter of reprimand for unprofessional behavior.
Purely contrived, but he wanted it in my file so that when he fires me for bad-mouthing his family, he can say he had just cause. It's dangerous to fire someone who has been with a company more than 10 years and is over 55 years old, so he's now cooked up a "reason."
If that comes to pass, I'll just become a full time trader. I have the benefit of having my brilliant wife sitting next to me, she's been a full time and highly successful trader for the past 2½ years.
Heck, I'll probably be better off anyway. But I hate to lose that health insurance, which my employer pays 100% of the premiums.
Any advice from someone recently joining the ranks of the unemployed?
ROFL! Good one.
OT Football: It looks right now like the weather gods are smiling on the Patriots. Cold, windy, and blowing snow. That'd make me pick New England, but what do I know? I was long in Enron.
Philadelphia seems to be the class act of the NFC even though Atlanta is hot right now and they have a way of pulling out the close ones.
But the three teams left in the AFC are the three best in the NFL right now. Obviously, that's just my opinion and I say that while hiding under the bed from irate fans of other teams.
If I had a favorite team in the NFL, it would be either the Steelers, the Patriots, or the Colts.
OT: I'm neither a Steelers nor a Jets fan, so I completely and thoroughly enjoyed what was probably the best playoff game so far in a year of already fantastic playoff games.
I live in the hinterlands of our great nation, so I don't really have a favorite NFL team. But I'm a huge NFL fan and I love games like that one.
I thought for sure the Jets had it won on the last play of regulation time. What a miracle if they had won their third overtime win in a row.
Who's going to stop the Steelers now? They can only stop themselves with turnovers IMO.
I got it for a double the week after Christmas. I was home from "work" that whole week and was able to concentrate, and it was a fine week in the markets for me, indeed.
LOL. I've never seen it called the "puke" line before, but it sure fits. Can I borrow that?
STOCKHOLM, Sweden - Noisy lovemaking is no cause for eviction — so long as it's done in the daytime, a Swedish landlord said Thursday.
The Tunabyggen housing company in Borlaenge, 137 miles northwest of Stockholm, made the decision after the neighbors of one amorous couple complained about their afternoon delights.
But the company, which runs the block of apartments, said lovemaking is part of normal family life and not grounds for eviction.
Indeed, it's the law. Under the Swedish Housing Act, neighbors are not to be disturbed by loud noises — be it music, television or love making in the evening. But that law also guarantees the right of tenants to a normal family life, too.
Tunabyggen's marketing director Lena Lundberg said the complaint about the lovemaking was akin to that of a family with noisy children whose crying could disturb the neighbors.
The complaint, which was filed this week, was thrown out, she added, because the noise wasn't at night.
"It's comparable with babies having colic," she said, adding that a family with a crying baby couldn't be evicted.
Well said. If it goes back to .004 I'd like to add another ½ million shares. But what I'd really rather be doing is spending some of the money I had made at 40 cents. :=))
Thanks. You gave me some points of view I hadn't considered and I realize now that I was too quick to dismiss what would obviously be a traumatic experience for both parties involved.
I think I must have projected my own feelings as universal feelings, surely a mistake with any subject, even more so when you're talking about a husband and wife splitting up.
Thanks for taking the time to post those thoughts.
My good feeling about tomorrow, other than maybe some QBID news, is that it's not only Friday, but payday, too.
Weeeeeeee!
What is that? You're not telling people how many pounds overweight I am, are you? You better not be....
Oh, that's a rumor worth of spreading around!
Hey, pssssst. Did you hear about QBID's satellite...
I wonder how much animosity there is between former spouses when one leaves the other for a gay partner. I think that I would find it hard to be mad at my spouse if they left for a homosexual relationship. I'd be like, "Well, no doubt you're going to be happier."
Odd situation to think about, huh? I guess because the jealousy aspect would be left out of it. How could you be jealous of a complete turn of events like that?
SMTX has been a good one for me this past 3 or 4 weeks. I think you're the one that originally turned me on to it.
So you think it'll do another cycle?
I actually did pretty good with it, considering I only had 200 shares. I made fifty bucks...
The truth is, in spite of the goofy market, I've done pretty sell this week. Some of it was just pure, dumb luck though.
Yep, I'd take a good juicy rumor over hard news any day for a pps increase. I think it's one of those things, of which there are hundreds in the market, that is a self-perpetuating prophecy.
Everyone thinks the pps will go down on news, so when news comes out everyone sells, thereby fulfilling the legend.
IMO anything under 16.25 is a smart move. Barring some major catastrophe, it should sneak up on 17.00 tomorrow.
Again, this is just the rantings of a flaming lunatic. Do your DD before investing in this or any other Piece of Chit.
Looks like it could go to 1.20 without even trying. If it could break through resistance at 1.30, the moon would be the next stop.
But there is very stiff resistance at 1.12. Tomorrow should be an interesting day watching this stock.
Thanks. I'm always careful with the POS stocks... is there anything special about DROOY I should know that wouldn't show up in the usual places?
My investment in DROOY right now is less than $500 but I was going to continue to accumulate shares as the opportunities arose.
DROOY - added more at 1.32 this morning.
IFLB *groan* I only had enough ready cash to buy 200 shares of it and I was going to buy more tomorrow after my cash had gone through settlement. But it's heading for the moon right now.
Story of my life, a day late and a dollar short.
CVM .99/1.00 early on. em
