FSLR. Yep I'm still in the habit of only buying 50 sh at a time back from the high priced days. Happy election day, Paul :) I'm excited! I've never stood in a line before and didn't think it would happen in California, but my husband said there was a long line an hr ago.
Gapper = TSL
Hi Paul, TSL is up 18% and TAN, the solar etf is up 12%
Hi Ico, You can listen to it here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/11/01/masked-avengers-prank-cal_n_140023.html

Hi Mike, I checked out the NY times calculator at the patrick.net site to determine if its cheaper to rent or to buy. It doesn't seem to take into account the mortgage interest income tax deduction.
Hi Ico, NCR is up on a very good earnings report.
NCR reports stronger 3Q revenue, profit
Dayton Business Journal
NCR (NYSE: NCR) reported third quarter revenue of $1.38 billion, an increase from $1.28 billion in same quarter last year. NCR’s net income rose to $80 million, or 48 cents per diluted share, compared with $53 million, or 29 cents per diluted share, in the third quarter of 2007. Those results included earnings from the company’s Teradata (NYSE: TDC) division, which was spun off at the end of the third quarter 2007.
The company, the second-largest in the Dayton area, now expects 2008 year-over-year revenue growth of 8 percent to 9 percent, an increase from the previously predicted 6 percent to 8 percent revenue growth.
Additionally, NCR now expects its full-year 2008 GAAP earnings from continuing operations to be $1.54 to $1.59 per diluted share and non-GAAP earnings from continuing operations to be $1.67 to $1.72 per diluted share.
Bill Nuti, chairman and chief executive officer, said the company is experiencing growth in all of its core sectors and geographic locations.
“We demonstrated resiliency in a weakened economic environment,” Nuti said in a statement.
The company saw the most growth in its Asian-Pacific market, where strong demand for NCR products and services in China and Japan led to a 14 percent year-over-year growth.
In addition, the company used $104 million of cash to repurchase approximately 4.1 million shares of NCR stock in the third quarter. NCR also said it used $127 million of cash to repurchase approximately five million shares of NCR stock in the second quarter.
Shares of NCR were down $1.64, or 10.2 percent, to $14.70 in Thursday afternoon trading.
NCR had $4.97 billion in revenue last year. The company, which sells ATMs and retail automation systems, has 1,300 local employees and 20,000 worldwide.

Thanks, Brikk, I've saved the links and will study them over the weekend. In this market I've moved to a shorter time frame (from 1 day period to 15 minute period) and MFI looks like a useful indicator. Although I don't think strreet smart.com has MFI with their charts.
What is MFI? Thanks, Barb

Tanker = QLD, since Susan already took aapl. No position, but I just can't believe AAPL would be immune to this economy. I was in the store yesterday and yes it was busy, but many of those folks are there for the classes, genius bar etc.
Gapper = WAB Earnings tomorrow pm
APWR very strong this morning.
Gapper = BIIB, Tanker = KELYA, Both have earnings tomorrow am.
Enjoy your beer, Ico !
Hi Ico, based on the vol in SSO yesterday, I say green.
Just when I was about to make my selection, I lost my internet connection. I think I need a new router. I'd love to try Fat Tire. Cheers!
Whats on tap, Bale?
OT (sorry Ico but I can't help myself) Have you seen this, Bale: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/15/joe-the-plumber-speaks-it_n_135065.html
OT. Hey Bale, I thought the The whole issue with Joe the Plumber was that his small business would make over 250k.
gapper = ESLR, earnings, tanker = TPX, earnings, would expect high end mattresses to be a victim of the housing decline.
Thanks for elaborating. Its very helpful. 20% is much lower than I was thinking.
Of course the stocks on my list are usually companies that I think are fundamentally sound so 20% lower seems impossible. But this approach does appeal to me and I will experiment with it.
Hi JJ, I tried something like that with AMN this morning, the problem was it went up 10% in 15 minutes and I wasn't prepared. I thought I would have most of the day. I'm not used to acting that fast. I don't like the low float or the large spreads. Next time I will program a sell immediately. I will keep watching for "low bid tactic" opps.
AMN out @ 49. should have sold in first 10'.
Green for me, Bale.
AMN Long @48.08
Gapper = C
Tanker = BBW No positions, picked them off the earnings list.
Good point, Ico! I'm out, too. I wouldn't want to hold a long etf overnight anyway
I don't know, of course my preference is the QLD, so I haven't tried shorting QID.
I went long SSO @ 30.90. Won't lose much if I get stopped out.
Thanks, Early :)
I honestly don't like that house. Its way too big and the lawn looks out of place to me.
Hi Ico, I'm back online. I bought some SDS this morning at 94.25 and put in a sell at $100. I see it filled.
It should be interesting again. I'm just watching. I woke up to no internet connection so I came to the coffee shop to check out the market. I'll have to go home and call my provider when they open.
Come on, Early, place your bet.
Hey Jang, I'll take green, too.
Tanker = QLD
gapper = STJ earnings tomorrow am. I wouldn't expect the medical device market to be hurt by this economy. No position.
Thanks, Jang. SDS has filled the gap nicely.
