Fuel Tech Awarded Air Pollution Control Orders Totaling $8.4 Million
Friday November 2, 4:54 pm ET
--Includes first contract in Romania--
BATAVIA, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fuel Tech, Inc. (Nasdaq: FTEK - News), a world leader in advanced engineering solutions for the optimization of combustion systems in utility and industrial applications, today announced receipt of multiple air pollution control (APC) orders totaling $8.4 million.
Two of the orders were received from electric utilities based in the Mid-Atlantic region. The first, from a new customer, is for the supply of NOxOUT® Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction (SNCR) systems for installation on three units at a single power generation site. The systems will support the client in satisfying its nitrogen oxide (NOx) reduction compliance plan as required under state multi-pollutant regulations, with project completion scheduled for late 2008. In addition, at the utility’s option, NOxOUT® CASCADE systems could be installed on these units at a later date to help the client achieve deeper NOx reductions, as may be required. The second domestic order represents mapping and modeling for potential future NOx control business for an existing client.
Internationally, an order was secured for a NOxOUT SNCR system to be installed at a cement plant in Romania, with a target completion date of year-end 2007.
John F. Norris Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer, commented, “We are gratified to have been selected by this newest domestic customer for installation of multiple NOx reduction systems, and to have been afforded the opportunity to expand our business relationship further at this important multi-unit plant site. This contract win and potential follow-on business not only reflects Fuel Tech’s capabilities in providing integrated solutions, but also the technical strength and robust design of the Company’s APC systems, which permit our customers to address ever-tightening emission requirements in a stepwise and cost-effective manner.”
Mr. Norris concluded, “With respect to the overseas order, this represents our first piece of business in Romania. Having recently joined the European Union, Romania, along with other Eastern European countries, must now come into compliance with tighter NOx emission standards, which should create more SNCR opportunities for Fuel Tech.”

PHOENIX, Oct. 30, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Radyne Corporation (NasdaqGS:RADN - News) announced today that its Xicom Technology business unit received 2 orders totaling over $8.0 million for millimeter-wave (Ka and Q-band) power amplifiers for use in military terminals. Most of the amplifiers will be used for uplinking with the U.S. Air Force's Wideband Global System (previously known as Wideband Gapfiller) constellation of satellites, the first of which recently launched. Five additional WGS satellites are planned, which will create further demand for Xicom's Ka-band suite of products for military communications applications. A significant portion of these orders are to upgrade previously installed tri-band amplifiers to quad-band with the addition of Ka-band capability.
