Why not go further than that-Intel will not have a mobile chip at all. Not in 2016 but never ever. Any one dream things up-good or bad.
Yes. PO was like that. Gordon Moore, Robert Noyce, Andy Grove all fit that bill. I am sure these leaders created and groomed more leaders like them.
Just because Intel is not in mobile, does not mean it does not have leaders.
Intel is extremely successful company even without mobile. Every other semi companies envy it
I won't call that person leader. He is project incharge and not leader.
You are getting into the definition of a project leader. I used the word leader which means all the details you have listed.
It is not that difficult. Project team are lead by project leader and there are other players( I call them consultant) from different field to complement every one. If Project leader can use these consultants effectively, it works most of the time.
all high tech companies do it every year. Let the low performing folks go.
That is not a new revelation.
I saw that. Something in life don't change.
No. You speak for yourself. No one has given any rights to speak for them.
Two brokers raising Price target. JPM -rating overweight
Jan 17 (Reuters) - Intel Corp :
* JP Morgan raises target price to $30 from $29; rating overweight
-------------
Jan 16 (Reuters) - Intel Corp :
* Canaccord Genuity raises target price to $24 from $22; rating hold
I never said that. I only stated the facts weather it is Intel or TSMC.
You nailed it. with each process it is getting difficult-yield and complexity issue and it is taking much longer. And it costs more. Some one has to pay R&D efforts.
It is so difficult to make out what TSMC is saying. First it says we are in production now and in the next sentence it says we are in volume production now as we speak.
Good. AMD is irelevent player in this market place. Whether Kaveri competes or not with Intel i3/i5, it is not going change AMD fortunes. Would it effect Intel-may be if AMD wants to sell at lower price point than Intel. AMD has lost its credibility.
GS already did unthinkable-price target of $16.00 but Q4 will beat.
Why don't you do your home work? You just want to be spoon fed. If you are so adamant about AMD being competitive with this family, go invest in AMD. For the same price you can get 6 times more shares
why is he asking you? he can do his own search or research. Very annoying indeed.
Nothing is stolen in investment world of stocks and options. It is our money and we need to make the best decisions for us.
Based on Jan. call and put premium, it is 50-50. It can go either way.
Jan. 26 put premium of $0.30 for 3 days is a lot-more than 1%.
That is what I thought. We(most) are all in the same boat who would like to manage their own money.
Even QQQ is way up due to these biotec.
Yes. But did you invest in QQQ. I am sure you did not as you see value in your analysis. QQQ also contains Biotec which were the biggest winner.
I have heard the same. If Marvel LTE solutions are not superior to Intel, then there is a possibility Intel will fab those chips with out destroying its own product line. But it will have to pay Intel's premium price, if it makes sense for it.
There are too many ifs and that is why it will not happen.
I personally don't always ride my options all the way. If I have achieved my goal I close my positions and move on. Some I do carry all the way. It all depends. Market changes all the time.
Mas,
It is very unlikely in my opinion. How will Intel sell its own LTE solution which is made by TSMC on 28nm? This is a great way to kill your own business.
I can think of one scenario,if Intel abandons its own design and goes with Marvell design.
Here Goldman with a target price of $16.00. Every time stock goes up, Goldman is there to bring it down. Though it has some positive to say. It does want Intel to make chips for others so that $16.00 forecast can become true for it.

Goldman Sachs maintained a Sell rating on Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) with a price target of $16.00. Analyst James Covello thinks 4Q results will be above the midpoint of guidance but he thinks gross margin is likely to decline in 1Q.
"Last week at CES, we hosted Intel president Renee James for what we believe was the most open, engaging and friendly strategic dialogue we have had with the company in 10 years. While we do not agree with all of Intel's strategic plans, we came away from the meeting with a much clearer understanding of what the company is trying to accomplish," said Covello.
"Our main takeaways: (1) We believe the new management team is more open to differing perspectives and is more attuned to market dynamics. (2) We believe Intel's goal is to use mobile unit volume to fill its fabs, which would raise utilization rates and drive higher GM. (3) Intel believes it can succeed in mobile by providing the lowest power processor, but we continue to believe its core advantage is in segments that require high processing power. (4) We believe Intel should pursue its open foundry strategy over its mobile strategy, given its edge in manufacturing. We believe 4Q results will be above the midpoint of guidance but note GM is likely to decline in 1Q," he said.

I am not sure whether you are an ex-Intel employee. I know there are a bunch of them on this board including me.
Intel is a very conservative company by any standard. It does not believe in promoting itself.
No one in Intel is allowed to share very crucial and critical information that will help its competitors in any way.
Especially engineers are not privy to to the total project definition.
In fact that is true of every technical company. Only very high senior program managers have meaningful information but not still 100%. As such I doubt it very much that someone at Intel will share such information.
We can ask the rest of ex-Intel employees, if they are willing to share their experience.
There is only one person who has changed his position to suit his objective. He is dominating the board now. You can count his posts. He outnumbers all of us together.
There is not a single post he has not replied to.
He is not market and he can't change the stock direction one way or another.
What is there to argue here. Yes, I understand Samsung is more formidable than TSMC. That is exactly I wrote. Look at the original post to which I wrote.
Now it hurts when truth comes out. I clearly stated that nothing has changed from Intel's perspective. Yes, its designs have not been accepted or adopted by various OEMs.
You had unexpected expectations and now you are hurting. You did all kind of analysis to prove to yourself that Intel will be $30.00 or $40.00 in such a time frame. You may have spent inordinate amount of time to develop your thesis. Who did you do for? Not for me. Only for your self.
Last 12 months have been transitioned with Paul leaving and BK coming. The whole strategy needs to change and its not easy.
You can do certain things, that is not my problem. It is your money and you know what is best for you.
I will take 1-2% per month any time. It may not suit and it does suit me well.
By the way, like others, I worked for Intel in the past. I feel hurt as well that stock is not doing as well as I would like to see it. But I am realistic at the same time. I take what the market gives me.
Then what happened. Microsoft got its nose cut off-a huge loss.
The same old Windows RT. This will not work regardless of which chip it uses.
He did not say Samsung. He put Samsung and Intel in the same group. He was talking of TSMC. Very convenient of you to pick and argue.
It is quite clear to me that you have changed your tune completely. You say it is because of facts. I think there is more here than meets the eyes.
The same fact and data that you had before, you used to pump Intel with all kind of analysis. I know you used number of assumptions.
Now the data from Intel has not changed. NVDA and Qualcom has not introduced tons of new products. They made a few announcements and no product and no benchmark. Just power point slides like others have stated. Suddenly you have started believing them more and not trusting Intel any more.
NVDA announced Tegra Shield-a gaming gadget/platform. I never heard of it since its announcement. Tegra 4 is in the same boat.
You have a right to change your tune but something else is cooking underneath.
How is that any dangerous than owning outright stocks? I am sure you can close your call positions any time to free your stocks.
The only downfall of writing calls is potential upside where one may not be able to participate but if your goal is to generate 1-2% then one should care less if the stocks get assigned. In that case you would have also pocketed writing puts premium.
Agreed. One needs to start with goals as well. If some one is looking to make 100% or more then these strategies are not for those.
Who is arguing with that? Please go look at Intel's gain for 2013 excluding dividends, it is around 20-25%.
Like I stated, if you are looking for home run, I am sorry stocks will not give you that on consistent basis. Go ahead and gamble.
I thought it was pretty interesting. Up to now I have heard that Intel did not introduce any exciting products.

Google And Apple Will Hate Intel's 'Jarvis,' A Headset That Talks Back To You
JIM EDWARDS

Intel Says It Will Never Use Minerals From African War Zones Ever Again
Intel CEO Brian Krzanich launched a serious challenge to both Google and Apple this week in the form of "Jarvis," an earpiece headset that can converse with users in normal conversation.
(Jarvis also happens to be the name of the virtual assistant Marvel character Tony Stark uses in the "Iron Man" movies.)
Jarvis takes commands that can be executed by your phone, even without the user having to switch on the phone. And Jarvis — which actually speaks with a female voice, much like Apple's Siri personal assistant — can make suggestions and interrupt you with info you need to know.
In a live demonstration at the opening keynote for CES that Krzanich said was not staged (meaning the tech was used in real time), an on-stage colleague asked Jarvis to recommend the best nearby Indian restaurant. Jarvis replied with a recommendation and asked if he wanted to call to make a reservation. The colleague said yes, but for a later time. Jarvis replied that the later reservation would require he cancel a pre-existing calendared meeting. The colleague then cancelled the meeting, at which point Jarvis reminded him he had three unanswered messages from his wife.
"Jarvis is hands free, always listening, and has seamless integration in a calendar context, and it interrupts politely," Krzanich said.
Both Apple and Google — via Google Now — have personal voice assistant products. Intel's Jarvis, however, was much more conversational and hands-free than its rivals.

If you can make 1-2% per month, there is nothing like it. Yes you do miss the potential of big payout. That is called speculation or gambling in layman's term. And not investing.
Andy thanks. Of all the folks even you do get it how options work.
IBC has a difficulty in understanding the same.
Writing options add risk and buying stocks does not? It is other way round. Buying stock is risk and writing calls and puts reduces this risk and generates income in addition to that.
You question seem to suggest that you have no clue about options.
