Interesting article GIO...certainly makes a compelling case for Med.MJ...
The real question is how many of those "pro-MJ" (legalization), voters are really just pro-Med MJ...and if MJ plant can be engineered (hopefully by XXII, and also becoming proprietary) to reduce or eliminate THC for MMJ use...would they be for general legalization?
IMHO those "pro-legalization" numbers would probably fall off substantially (well below 50%) ...vs just "pro-MMJ legalization"...
Bottom line...IMHO XXII's focus would be well spent in the MMJ arena.
You cant help it...uplisting is a "magnet". An associate of mine told me to look at Iceman's picks three years ago...once you give your email address to these guys...they dont let you go. I requested several times, but I still cant get him to drop me from his list...so I got the email.
If you look at my post...Barry Davis, aka "Iceman", aka "Stocksthatmove" (paid stock promoter)got XXII "highly recommended" from some other supposedly "pennystock guru"...so it was already circulating on both technicials and uplisting
Opportunistic traders were eventually going to find XXII, and I guess this is "eventually"...
They will make their hits and hopefully run...and let us take the cream in "peace" as long term investors...
As Van confirmed..."first things first" also includes the biotech side.
We investors are only focused on one of two verticals XXII is "actively" pursuing... which makes for nice upside surprises when developments are announced on biotech side of the equation.
For those who either doubt there would or should be a MJ play by XXII, because 1. Nothing was definitively said by the company, or 2. It would be a distraction to management.
I would make two observations: point one, we do not necessarily have to receive definitive word to speculate on the xxii technology " fitting " into MJ modification, because it clearly could and would. Clearly it would be a big boost to SP if they announced use of tech for medical MJ modification to remove carcinogens or other means to remove negative aspects of the MJ plant and to accentuate the positives. They would be foolish in not capitalizing on their patents in this area. IMO management has not shown itself to be foolish or short sighted regarding opportunities. For that reason alone I believe they will "lock-down" an extension of their patents to apply to MJ modification and do so with a specific focus in mind. They would be foolish not to!
That brings us to the second point. "Keeping focused and within the scope of what management are trying to achieve. "
I would bet most investors have not even gone to the XXII web site to learn that XXII is a plant tech HOLDING company. XXII has two missions: plant bio-research through Hercules pharma and distribution of the proprietary cigarette through its subsidiary Goodwich. Hercules has done extensive research. How did they do so much research with so few employees? They did so through contracts with third party research universities and labs. XXII's scientific staff only needs to consult with these third parties and put them into motion, then monitor results and outcome.
Bottom line it would be foolish not to negotiate (and annouce) patent extensions to MJ and utilize them, which IMHO would not be a significant drain on man power or focus.
...tell me what you think:

Thought we would stir the "pot" a little with this story.
TALLAHASSEE -- With bipartisan backing, a Florida House panel voted to legalize a non-euphoric brand of marijuana which supporters say could help thousands of children suffering from epileptic seizures.
It is the first time the Florida Legislature has advanced any type of medical marijuana legalization effort – and comes as other states and Florida voters themselves are prompting wholesale changes to drug laws.
The House Criminal Justice Committee spent two hours listening to doctors, parents and advocates for medical marijuana testify that children whose brains are ravaged by painful and eventually lethal seizures have seen dramatic turnarounds in places like Colorado, where the particular no-high brand of weed known as “Charlotte’s Web” was created
Charlotte's Web name for the marijuana strain taken in oil form that is bred not to have THC -- the ingredient that make users high.
So we refer back to this story and XXII's relationship with NRC...the things that make you go hmmm.
...read the tea leaves...and my post 6743
Plenty of "MJ smoke"...around ...and as the saying goes: "Where there's smoke...there's FIRE"...and
IMHO ... XXII is already on fire...soon to become an inferno...
Perker
You are refering to #3 in my list of "reading between the lines" from a recent Van post.
Now we have (all according to schedule)..
#1 Uplisting - fulfilled ("any day now")
#2 ????? Waiting to happen ("likely before mid month")
#3 You are confirming "where there is smoke (funny kind), there is fire" ... ("at the AGM.. April 12th")
What this executive team does is they: "say what they mean", "mean what they say" and "do what they say"!
very exciting
On top of "good press" upon XXII uplisting...we might be the beneficiary of what is about to hit the E-cig crowd of investors.
Their investments will be enduring more bad press and expectation of some very strict and debilitating regulations...
Meanwhile...where might there be a place for those investors to park their hard earned money?
Hold on to your seats Monday...boys and girls..THE FUSE IS LIT...
LOL....read below; "Iceman", "Stocksthatmove" and "ThePennyDoctor" are all recommending XXII as an "uplisting" play to go to $8 by or at uplisting Monday.
Only problem is ... they are all traders,... so IMHO...expect exists between $8-$10 by most of them...and big swings in portfolio if overweight XXII....but in the end XXII will be on everyone's radar up to the AGM on April 12...THEN imho..REAL NEWS and the real fun begins...and the chase will start all over again.

Love the uplist pops - made a ton on ONVO back in the day. This one closing over $5 is perfect. We should see $8 by or right after the uplist IMO.
here...with your $3,500....you can buy this Green 1973 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series beauty...with only 133k miles (post turn-odometer back adjustment) no carfax available .....with your .07 earnings...and put a grand in your pocket for the tow/shipping from Alaska!

now some blocks (broken down) are arriving...on the ask...
Except that XXII could enter into an exclusive agreement with the researchers/university to apply the same or similar technology of which XXII has control of via their patents, to research and apply this same technology used in Tobacco plant to the MJ plant.
Bottom line, locking down the application of this same technology to the MJ plant. Could even support research with some financial ($300K-$600K) support over an extended period of time (perhaps 6 months-1 year). After all we are talking about plants(not the human body) that grow to maturity in a relatively short period of time.
no...even on IPO's like facebook..they weren't. Options will depend upon steady volume and price action. If they do come out in the next month...the MM will probably be tentative...meaning "wide" spreads to protect themselves...Wide line .50-$1.00 (which discourages trading in options) and protects MM from unchartered "risk" exposure.

don't get too drunk Jock...we need you for the intra-day technicals...or at least to entertain us...
at $5 after the close on Monday...we have all institutions and funds able to buy and "recommend".
as you must know Pinkie...boys will be boys...and some of them "aint that bright"...
what will be interesting to watch all day are the blocks at the bid...that will show initial serious buying intent...
over the weekend we should expect lots of "buzz" resulting in a gap up on Monday...
where sp going to at end of "pre-uplisting" Monday?...anyone's guess...
IMHO expect another SA piece coming out soon..., post up-listing
yes...thanks for reminding up of a great Van quote...much wisdom...
Ok...since "its not intended for that purpose" (ie not converting full feature movies) that's fine. Then what you are saying is that DSNY has a clipstream platform that currently can only convert 2-3 minute clips...(in a reasonable or unreasonable time). Let shareholders determine if they are satisfied with that "more precise" explanation of Clipstream's intended use and current limitations.
IMHO...It would appear to be the move...but as long as one keeps diversified...as you appear to be doing...GL...
Frankly, I like Steve, I don't like and question his style...I feel he could be more upfront and direct...especially where he really is and isn't with clipstream...He has to realize he is impacting peoples hard earned money and as well as their hopes of building a dream ... He has a responsibility to be clear, direct and unambiguous, so people can choose their course... In the end the facts prevail. (see you didn't take my hint)
At the expense of disclosing some of HTFBS's note to all Subs this AM:
Scott Shaffer says:
"We have been saying for a bit that "cigs" is a Big Board company dressed in nanocap clothes."
And Subs would (and should) say:
"We have been saying for a bit that "Van" is a Big Time analyst dressed in an inexpensive newsletter!"
...there still remains so many catalysts for this company...and with a bright Executive team ... IMHO they will all be well capitalized on ... with the right timing...
ps... as said earlier...worst nightmare scenario..."not having full allotment"...several of us warned scapler/traders..."not be out of this stock or full allotment"...it will be interesting to see how many join the shorts tomorrow in trying to grab back shares at a "reasonable" sp.
(anyone here going to donate their shares tomorrow?)
it is my understanding that only ad agencies are using it on 15, 30, 60 second clips...Frankly no one would care if it takes up to 6 minutes for those clips...but on a 2 hour full featured film...20 hours seems unattractive...
perhaps DSNY is working on a way to speed it up...or perhaps its acceptable...in either case none of those with an "inside track" to Steve have addressed the issue or have an answer...
I am pondering why no answer...you can draw your own the conclusion, I have drawn mine...until the company says otherwise.
yep...wish I started back then (17)...but then again...would not have had VAN! to shepherd us (me) along with such great analysis, honesty and DD.
Van's last alert IMHO telegraphed...
#1 NYES ...fullfilled!
#2 IMHO..MSA before end if month
#3 ...at AGM ...several positive developments announced...humm
nope...I know someone here with a nice boatload and only 17...
yes...and lol...and upped my bid from 4.11 to 4.18 to grab last 1800 shares...pure luck.
my worst nightmare is XXII going to $30 instead of $100, before the end of calendar year.... and in addition...not having a full load!
interesting free video on MACD...
http://technitrader.com/library/videos/play.php?video=macd
many traders and trading systems use the indicator for short term trading ... such as day traders and shorts.... but it is an invalid indicator for short term trades...
bottom line...selling or shorting at this point could be caused by misinterpreting the intended purpose and can "whipsaw" short term traders...
Have we seen that before? still looking for my fill...1 cent off. ;-((
more cheap stock is fine with me...come to daddy...
seen CA..en en, but no I wasn't even alluding to MJ...since no mention in the Annual Report to SH....or at least not in part of the report which Van addressed.
so that is bonus #4... I would expect that on April 12th during AGM...but nothing prevents management from releasing it before if they are involved in some deal or research re: MJ.
great buy...got to my computer late today...would have gobbled them up too.
Van...very bullish update...It appears we are likely to see 3 major bullish events occurring before the April 12th Annual SH Meeting...per Annual Report.
Timing: #1 anytime, #2 could be before Mid-March but before end of March and #3 April 3rd. if XXII price support remains.
kmike...that is not exactly the question I asked. The question was: How does clipstream "conversion time" compare to other transcoding "conversion times". I also stated that I have heard that a Clipstream conversion takes 10 times the running time of the video content being converted. i.e. 20 hours for a 2 hour full length movie, and that seemed like a very long process. How long do other transcoding companies take to transcode in the other formats?
Not working out too well for the short right now...strength continues...they will likely try to throw up a block at $4.50...but if we break solidly through $4.50...they will be wondering about the wisdom of the trade...
many of these "fund" short go right off technicals and are not even aware of fundamentals that could blow them out of the water...
So you checked and DSNY's had already been doing business, but now the difference is automatic adds vs. manual...so it not a new relationship, but an upgrade of product? So you are confirming it is not a new relationship.
Still no answer to a question I asked 3 times and has been ignored:
"Is 10 times the length of the content time for transcoding competitive with other transcoding companies. It appears to be a great deal of time taking Clipstream 20 hours to transcode a 2 hour feature movie. Ties up an awful lot of hardware for a large library, unless you dont mind waiting for considerable amount of time..."
ps. the other technology...streams from the cloud, save up to 90% bandwidth, reaches most devices except Apple os, which they are working on...sound familiar? The point again...it will fill the need for certain content providers...once filled, unlikely to switch.
pps. ...the second point again...when DSNY books revenue, to prove adoption and traction, it will garner attention...not before.
I am not pleased with the direction MJ is taking in this country, AND there is no doubt a bubble already with 98% of these penny stocks
...but from where it appears to be going, the commerce will be real and as a result, some companies will have actual revenues earnings and balance sheets...and be real companies...no doubt if XXII becomes involved, it will be in removing carcinogens to make it less dangerous to one's health...and real revenues will flow...if that is the case...
(and our elected officials think their is a problem with Alcohol DWI...wait and see what happens next when you add MJ...and DWStoned)
The real play is BAT controlling the entire ball of wax...
"Could Reynolds become a subsidiary of British American Tobacco?
Could Reynolds American Inc. become a subsidiary of British American Tobacco PLC in the near future?
A deal that Reynolds American Inc. made in 2004 to purchase Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co. could open the door for the Winston-Salem-based tobacco maker to become a subsidiary of British American Tobacco PLC in the near future.
According to the Winston-Salem Journal, the deal allowed Reynolds (NYSE: RAI) to purchase Brown & Williamson from BAT and BAT acquired a 42 percent ownership stake in Reynolds that came with a 10-year moratorium on buying additional shares. That moratorium ends July 30, leading to speculation that BAT could increase its ownership stake and make Reynolds a subsidiary.
But even if an acquisition were to take place, experts say the likelihood of layoffs and plant closings are minimal because the company does not have U.S. operations."
