You'll need 19 SPORTS.
That's 55 surgical procedures per day, 7 days per week. Wow.
I like those numbers.
Good to hear from you.

Bk
I completely agree with you and your source. (?)

BK
I don't think that at all.
Meaning that I don't advocate the "just go away and come back in 2 years." I don't think it's dead money. There's a lot that will happen before mid-2-18.
I do agree with your Dr. friend. It's the future and there's a lot of IP to lock up during the first few surgical robots.
We're just starting to see/visualize the technology that will enable this device to succeed. Micro electronics and chip technology will be critical to the future of these and other devices.

I don't think so. IMO
Milestones and PR/marketing/professional conferences exposure will cause pps to rise. How far depends on the trading volume.
The market already knows what this type of product can do via ISRG. There's built in value with each milestone and progress across the timeline. It will also be beneficial when/if ever the company will share publicly regarding documentation of medical procedures.
I expect the pps to double from now to end of this year - depending on published progress. Then double again with passing the final CE audit sometime 2nd half of 2017. IMO.
Call it about - $3.00 pps 3-4Q '17. That's not a bad investment, but not why I'm invested. I see much, much bigger numbers late Q1 - early Q2 2018. 18-20 months.

BK
That's a lot of development and IP hurdles to overcome in a short amount of time. They may show something by end of year. Pictures? CAD renderings? I can see Verb announcing something or showing something, for the simple reason to try and stall any possible near-term sales. That's just shouting to get the markets attention. I'm not convinced that it will have the dexterity and flexibility to move within the body cavity as elegantly as SPORT. I've said this multiple times in the past - SPORT is a known product and NO ONE has said ANYTHING negative (that which we're aware). I listen to our professional board members and think that they would weigh in on any major flaw - IMO.
I think we're in the lead as next to market by 2 years, minimum. Unless..... existing IP is purchased to jump the development time line. And, I just don't see any company jumping the timeline necessary to design, and build a new model - or enhance an existing one in that short of a time frame. A bomb defusing robot will still need to undergo testing, documentation, and certification, just as SPORT is doing. There are still major barriers to entry in this market. ANY competitor will bump into ISRG, or Mazor IP. SPORT IP is very unique.
It may also be to Titan's benefit for another company to "jump out there," and get ISRG to focus on someone else instead of us. I really think our IP is superior.
Further, why would someone at Verb say 4 years, as quoted in that article dated this past May - found on the Verb website??? It's very hard to steer a project like this - with this level of multidimensional technological facets.
I'd like to hear from some of our industry brethren on possible competitors and timeline estimates too.

BK
Verb says robot 4 yrs away.
The article is a reference that I found on the Verb home page.
http://www.verbsurgical.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/Verb_MTS_May2016_Web.pdf
pg20, paragraph2.
The MedTech STRATEGIST - Vol.3 No.8 - May 13, 2016
As noted, Verb’s short term goal is to have its first platform ready for commercialization within four years. But Verb’s aim isn’t just to introduce a new robot; it’s to “disrupt the surgical robotics market,” says Scott Huennekens, with “a more surgeon-centric platform with greater dexterity,” as well as “a modular system” that is also more cost effective, which will open up the global opportunity.” To the end, he says, “we want to be about both technology disruption and business model disruption.”
This is a great article, from the "The world according to Verb." It's vague with a lot of - "our vision." It raises as many questions in my mind as it does provide good information - as of today.
The only conclusion that I can draw from this information - at this time, is that Verb
could
Lets see what the MM's do now.
If they would let the ASK run, the pps would take care of itself.
Could the move up be because of the upcoming conference and speculation of a real good review? IDK.
I'd like to see another video demo of one of the case studies, or a mock up of one. That would be good PR.
IMO

BK
Are your trying to give JH a coronary?
Ref #2 - He'd have to figure out how to finance that too!
It may be a "why build a better mouse trap" project.
IDK if a surgeon would want to do suction. Do the surgeons on this board want to be looking away and controlling the suction while trying to perform the procedure?
Now, it would be nice to have the following:
The first SPORT optional upgrade package - "patient-side" assistance, which would include roadside assistance (to include a Bubba tow rope, and Warn winch on the front end - for hospitals built on hills or steep slopes, and rolling hydraulic scissor jack) for the gurney or robot - in case it breaks down, or locks up in a hallway, between rooms.
The other upgrade package currently being considered is the "surgical room environment enhancement accessory package." Which consists of a battery back-up power supply to finish a procedure during a power outage (or to re-charge the team iPhones), portable A/C unit, closed-loop wi-fi for streaming music, shielded microwave and beverage cooler, just in case a procedure goes for an extended time.
Design enhancements and suggestions free of charge.

BK
They may have hidden it behind the subscription offer.
I saved it as a pdf if you can't find it. But I can't attach it in a reply to your message.
You can send me a PM at BIGKAHUNA57@GMAIL.COM if you would like me to send it to you.

Good to know. I think so too.
Thanks

The invitation in August should be very positive.
I think the PR was strategic and circumstantial. It is a mid-year update about milestones and I don't think JH wants to be on the outside looking in.
I'm hopeful that Titan will shoot more videos of SPORT in action at the booth AND use them for PR purposes. Dr's at a convention being interviewed about SPORT - how does that not translate into great PR?

Only "several" thousand line items. Great!
Meaning more than 3 and less than 10. IMO
If my understanding is what they mean, then it's not as much as some may think. With reference to all of the sub-routines of code that both address each function and those that coordinate multiple movements simultaneously. "30 engineers working on 11 different software systems."
Here are just a few other items as food for thought to illustrate my point.
Those line items also include all of the sequential steps to produce the custom circuit boards - which should be modular and system/function specific, with capability to run a full connectivity and system check using diagnostic software during the manufacturing process (circuit board, to wire harness, to control module), which can also be used as a system pre-op check, and to assist with field maintenance (possibly remotely). Remember these are line items for designs and plans for production, and not "wired" boards for alpha or beta units.
Then there's the documentation. It's all about the documentation. Those line items also include the engineering documentation necessary to follow each function, and where to look in the future to troubleshoot issues. It will be the source for preventative and field maintenance routines.
I'm surprised it's only "several" thousand truthfully. I'm content that they are this far along.
IMO

BK
Interesting theory.
The pieces fit. Feels very odd though.
It would make more sense if mgmt would go after those that are limiting the pps.

BK
Huh? Where did you go in such a hurry? Tornado?
Nice to see ya.
If you prefer off-line PM. BIGKAHUNA57@GMAIL.COM, goes for anyone.

Yup. Saw that he was part of the International Committee.
Seemed like a real opportunity to get exposure to the UK and anyone interested in taking a trip from western Europe.

I thought that too……but clearly can't be sure.
Anything to do with IP and tech in China makes me very nervous. If I was to do business with any corp in China, I'd make the "partner" secure an insurance bond to protect the IP, if it were to be stolen or compromised.
Real happy to hear Exec's went to Japan. Look forward to hearing more about that trip as soon as any new info becomes available.
Regards,
BK
It's been a very interesting couple of days with a lot of information presented on this board. First a trip to Japan by Hargrove and Fowler, then a separate message/conversation regarding 20 units and reverse engineering risk. (Very real IMO) Then brief, but interesting commentary about Titan speaking with Stryker.
Today's just quiet - so far. Typically content & commentary will pick up after 6pm eastern.
I'm curious to hear if there is any news or chatter from the Hamlyn conference. Does anyone on the board have friends over the pond?
Thank you.
Regards,
BK
Interesting to hear of Japanese tech co's.
I threw out a few Japanese co's a while ago.
Sony was not on my list. I worked for Canon for over 20 years and they have a rocking Medical division. Digital radiography and digital ophthalmological equipment. I know that they are also into nano-tech, among the more obvious consumer products.
See...2 messages later and now we know more. Thanks

BK
It's not your voice necessarily that we appreciate. It's your access, numerous sources of information, and your willingness to share what you've heard and know. We have a great board, and many do a lot of research to find patents and provide new pieces to the puzzle. What we've all hoped to find, are resources and access to what's going on in the company regarding direction and decisions. Again, thanks.
Regards,
BK
That's another $5.00, now $50.00 total in the jar.
Regards,
BK
Appreciate the update and your candor.
I'm not the person to defend those that seem to make a career of complaining on this board, however it would have been appreciated by all if there were a few more communications from Titan mgmt. as to the defense of the product. If for nothing else than to know that another company, or whomever was trying to take the product down another path. And.... anything else they would care to share would be greatly appreciated. The product as been unveiled so I'm hopeful that the new PR group will be more effective. We're all in this together. Some with more to lose than others, but none the less invested.
Thank you again. Please don't be a stranger. You've only been on the board this month, but have provided great info.
If Fowler and Ms. Hargrove went to Japan, are you aware of any Titan Mgmt in London? I'm assuming that they wouldn't go 15 hours east, then back to the US, then another 20 hours west in the same week.

BK

Hi IAG. I'm here every day. Reading and looking for more information. At this point, IMO - it's a waiting game for the ITA. The patent announcement and application was unexpected good news. My thoughts are that we're building up for increased value as more progress is made toward the Phase 1b trials.
Sorry - didn't read the previous post. Agree - what he said.

Any professional contacts in the UK?
Has anyone heard if the robot is there?
It looks like a great international opportunity for more exposure & feedback.
Just a question - not speculation.

Interesting. What about GE?
If this mfg. partner has been working with GE for more than 30 years, they probably have a conversation every now and then about new tech that has been brought to the "shop," to be built. GE is always ebbing and flowing in new directions. The more the merrier. Just a thought.
Regards,
BK
Further - My point is.... this is ALL positive. No, I don't understand why the OEM was such a big secret. So what? The OEM has/had issues and Titan complied with their request. Again, so what.
Bringing this product to market has, and will have many challenges. Why hasn't any other "world-class" medical device company done it before now? Because it's damn hard to do, based on the art of design, and invention, and technology, and especially the existing IP. This "engineering" development and design just doesn't fall out of the sky. I've lived it.
Watch the game, not the score. (I really like that analogy.)
IMO.
Regards,
BK
I don't know of the specific "partnership" agreement details. And as far as the pps effect based on today's news - I don't base my investments on "group-think." A few folks are still watching the score and not the game. IMO.

If PLEXUS can satisfy GE Healthcare, they surely can support Titan at this stage of the game.
Plexus Named the 2014 Supplier of the Year

This is a high-tech "small-batch" manufacturer. Perfect fit for all of their markets and for the number of units needed pre HC & FDA. Also, probably very affordable. Great strategic decision. IMO

News from the last 2 days is enough 2 move pps? These steps are necessary and the news from these past two days validate the procedures for Ph1b trials. I'm very happy to see these dots and connect them. IMO

If we could only get PUMA investors.
That stock was over $250 pps in Dec '14. Now down to $30 pps.
TLTFF would give them room to potentially recoup their losses.
They would move this stock into outer space.

The Milestones have been removed. Some of the main tabs are not fully functional yet. But it looks better than before. I'd like to see a few interviews from SAGES about specific features, included on their site. That would be helpful. JMO

Thank you to those attending AGM. I hope it's an enjoyable trip and an informative meeting.

Titan's web site - still updating Milestones tab. Maybe news at the AGM? Hopefully.

Wonder why the lag in the PR? Keeping dry powder for an unanticipated delay for ITA? Not a bad strategy. Save it, or stack it on top of an ITA announcement. That would move the pps. IMO.

Very good find.
This may be broader than just Steve Grasso.

I do think that this is a significant event. It's confirmation of IP that is both a process and a product - now protected. IMO.
However, I don't think anyone would conclude any part of this process is a foregone conclusion.
I think the next series of moves will be when ITA is granted, phase 1b and any other milestone between now and end of 2016.
2017 will have its own series of moves based on progress and success.
Regards,
BK
I understand your point, but don't agree. Creating a bag with a hose on it is not the way to engineer a world-class, major leap-forward, industry changing product. I still think they saw, or they were introduced to new tech when added to this design makes it IP formidable. The tech has to be incorporated into the product design to create "function/design specific, with applications for unique features/capabilities" for patent application.
IP is the deep and wide moat for the castle. The R&D game is the "back room, stealth revenue generator." IP is everything in this game. Titan's patent lawyers better be damn good to play in this game.
Regards,
BK
I've been a part of "project" creep. My thoughts....I believe that they saw some technology that could be adapted/plugged-in to the existing platform and decided that it was a significant enhancement or significant IP element that would seriously deter the competition in the future. Sometimes all of the pieces of the puzzle are not on the table at the start of the game. I'm more curious than furious at this point to understand what decisions were made and when, once this is at a point of "design freeze." I do agree with you that a "design freeze" if possible, now is better than next year....only if the current product could pass CE. And continue to work on U.S.FDA 2.0. Or maybe it was too expensive to produce in such limited numbers and support in the EU while continuing to spend to build FDA 2.0. However, I don't want to hear any more about artificially raising pps to enable exercising warrants. Let's see what the new PR firm can do in the next 3 months. IMO
Regards,
BK
P.S. Sorry to see ST go, whatever the circumstances. Liked his participation and very much appreciated his efforts. Hope to meet him and talk someday in the future.
It's all perspective. Some are watching the score, and some are watching the game. Again, I'm in for the long play and that means plan for delays, etc. and hope for the best. (surprise milestone achievements, CE application early, more distribution partnerships, early sales in Asia, etc.) "The score is perceived competition and low pps." The game is the IP and the known design of the product and how it's been received by those in attendance at the most recent shows. Not a single negative comment, or missing feature. If Titan had permission they could sell it before the end of year. I'll never understand how some can "know" more than the SAB, or Fowler. We can only know what they tell us, and thankfully what other who contribute to the this board know, as they are a part of the profession. Navigating competitive IP is a minefield. It's not a straight line either. IMO.
Regards,
BK
