Business Wire - March 17, 2006 09:30
LITTLE FALLS, N.J., Mar 17, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- mPhase Technologies (OTCBB: XDSL) today announced that Alex Langa, Director of Business Development, will present at the Advancements in Battery Technology & Power Management Conference on April 12, 2006 in Chicago.

The presentation will detail how the existing design approaches are impractical for developing reserve type batteries that can be used for powering portable electronics. This talk will present a new approach to developing a scalable reserve battery that uses the principles of microfludics and electro-wetting to keep the batteries in an inactive state for a very long shelf life, while retaining the properties of reaching full voltage potential on demand.
The Advancements in Battery Technology & Power Management 2006 Conference is sponsored by Battery Power Products & Technology Magazine. The conference will highlight innovations in new battery designs, chemistries, power management, testing systems, and charging technology, as well as the latest market trends affecting the industry. Patriot Scientific To Now Focus On Outcome of Infringement Lawsuit in Texas
Business Wire - March 17, 2006 09:10
Northern California court grants TPL's motion to stay proceedings pending outcome of infringement proceedings against major Japanese manufacturers in Eastern District of Texas
CARLSBAD, Calif., Mar 17, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Patriot Scientific Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: PTSC), an intellectual property licensing company, today announced that the U.S. District Court of Northern California has stayed the declaratory judgment actions recently filed in that court against the TPL Group, a global intellectual property management company, and Patriot Scientific, et al, by major Japanese manufacturers. Further proceedings in the California actions were stayed pending outcome of TPL's earlier-filed action against those same companies in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Texas. This clears the way for the Texas court -- sometimes referred to as the "rocket docket" for its expeditious rulings in patent infringement cases -- to now take the lead in judging TPL's broad-based intellectual property claims for infringement of three of the 10 patents in the Moore Microprocessor Patent(TM) (MMP) Portfolio that is jointly owned by the TPL Group and Patriot Scientific.

Genesis Bioventures Announces Results From Testing of Mad Cow Disease and Scrapie Rapid Assays
NEW YORK, NY, March 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Genesis Bioventures, Inc. (GBI) (OTCBB:GBIW) is pleased to announce that the Rapid Prion Detection Assays developed by Prion Developmental Laboratories (PDL), a portfolio company of GBI, have been successfully tested at the Veterinary Laboratories Agency in Weybridge, England.
The BSE Assay, designed to detect the prion disease, Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) or Mad Cow disease, achieved the diagnostic test performance which allows PDL to apply for regulatory approval. The results that were achieved establish the Rapid Assay in the same performance class as the leading commercially approved tests presently being used in the cattle industry worldwide, but with a faster turn around time.
'We are satisfied with the performance of our assay,' said Dr. Rubenstein, Chief Scientific Officer of PDL. 'Dr. Petersen and I have worked over the last six months to increase the sensitivity and specificity of the assay that led to these results. We are equally pleased to announce that the Scrapie assay for sheep also achieved comparable results. '
'The results we achieved on the positive and negative samples for both BSE and Scrapie meet the regulatory requirements the assays must demonstrate to achieve approval to sell the tests in all major markets in the world, including the US, Canada, Japan, and the European Community,' said Dr. Petersen, CEO of PDL. 'Over the coming months we will be working closely with GBI and regulatory agencies in the major markets to prepare and submit approval applications for both tests.'
'These results complement the Chronic Wasting Disease rapid assay that PDL completed last year that received USDA approval,' said Greg McCartney President and CEO of GBI. We are very pleased that this phase of the test development is completed and we can now seek regulatory approvals for commercialization.'

Veridium Receives Fourth Order for Ethanol By-Product Recovery Technology; System to Bring Company to $5.6 Million in Annualized Revenues from New Clean Technology
Business Wire - March 13, 2006 08:00
NEW YORK, Mar 13, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Veridium Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: VRDM) today announced its receipt of an order from an Illinois based ethanol producer for the use of Veridium's patent-pending Corn Oil Extraction System(TM).
Veridium's proprietary new Corn Oil Extraction Systems(TM) extract high grade corn oil from an ethanol by-product called distillers dried grain ("DDG"). The new system is scheduled for installation later this year at the Illinois ethanol production facility, where it is expected to extract corn oil at a rate of about 1.2 to 1.5 million gallons per year.
Veridium's pricing model for its Corn Oil Extraction Systems(TM) is not based on licensing or outright equipment sales, but rather on the provision of its turn-key systems for no up-front cost in return for long-term corn oil purchase agreements based on a fixed discount to prevailing market prices. Veridium will purchase and sell the extracted corn oil and generate an estimated $1.4 million to $1.8 million in annualized revenues.
The new order brings Veridium's total annualized Corn Oil Extraction System(TM) sales to between $5.6 million and $7.2 million per year.
David Winsness, chief executive officer of Veridium's industrial design division, stated that "We launched our program to the ethanol industry less than two months ago and we are very pleased with the response we are seeing. Our Corn Oil Extraction System(TM) is just the first in a series of production enhancements that we intend to offer to the ethanol industry. We are very excited and we continue to welcome the opportunity to help our clients increase their profits as they contribute to America's energy independence with not one, but two clean fuels."

HONG KONG (MarketWatch) -- Hong Kong health authorities have slapped a suspension on all imports from a Colorado-based beef processor after discovering the firm had shipped meat products to the territory containing skeletal bones.
Imports from the Swift Beef Company were suspended with "immediate effect," according to the airport office of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, citing a spot inspection of product from the company carried out Friday.
"The decision was made following discovery of beef imports with bones from that plant during inspections," a department spokesman said in a statement.
Hong Kong permits only boneless beef from cattle less than 30 months old, with the animal's brain, spinal cord and other parts with a high risk of mad cow disease removed.
Hong Kong banned all beef U.S. beef imports Dec. 24, 2003, after mad cow disease, or bovine spongiform encephalopathy, was detected in a cow in Washington State.
The ban was partially lifted Dec. 29 after a protocol was agreed that set out the packing requirements and handling requirements.
"We will contact the relevant authorities for more information concerning the beef imports in question," the spokesman said. End of Story
