If IBM sells its chip business, who will fab its Power chips.
Or IBM has given up on hardware completely. I think it is latter.
If these companies all share the same recipe then what difference it will make. If going forward, the new technology developed are not being shared with others.
Cost of that can't be borne out by one entity.
How about Samsung? You think Samsung is much more formidable Intel's competitors than TSMC. It is in 4th place.
I am sorry if that hurts.
Intel's tablets are mentioned in this article

EL SEGUNDO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 01/29/14 -- Fuhu, Inc., creator of the award-winning nabi tablet, has just been named America's Most Promising Company by Forbes magazine. Forbes' third annual list of "America's Most Promising Companies" recognizes 100 privately-held, high-growth companies throughout the country and companies that made the cut boast compelling business models, strong management teams, as well as notable customers and investors.
Taking top spot on the list marks the latest accolade for Fuhu, which has enjoyed much success over the past year. Fuhu was declared America's #1 Fastest Growing Company by Inc. Magazine in 2013 and PC Magazine named nabi the best tablet for kids. Additionally, earlier this month they announced the DreamTab, a groundbreaking, state-of-the-art new tablet designed from the ground-up just for kids, in partnership with DreamWorks Animation (NASDAQ: DWA) and Intel (NASDAQ: INTC).
Jim Mitchell, CEO of Fuhu, said, "We are privileged and honored to rank #1 on this distinguished list among such cutting-edge companies. This honor serves both as a marker that we are on the right path of executing our vision and an inspiration to continue forging ahead. We are grateful to all our partners, investors for their strong support and employees for their passion and dedication."
In addition to Fuhu, which is ranked #1, the list of "America's Most Promising Companies" also recognized other stellar companies over the past few years across various industries including Popchips and Thrillist. In creating the list, Forbes strove for a holistic gauge of young, privately-held businesses, attempting to pin down their trajectories by taking a range of variables into account. Over the course of four months, Forbes reviewed hundreds of applications. The final assessment is based on growth (both in sales and hiring), quality of management teams and investors, margins, market size and key partnerships. After verifying sales numbers, speaking with each company and debating their merits and blemishes, Forbes produces a final ranking.

It will happen as Lenova needs Intel for PC and server business. Intel chips needs to match at least what others offer.
Lenova will use Intel chips once they are good and competitive.
It will get most of Intel because of PC and now server chips(IBM X-86 division)
For a change, good post and a very nice article. Yes, it is pro Intel. But it also is a windows to future of computing.
No, I did not post it for reasons that if it had any effect on Intel.
It would have if Lenova was still Intel's partners in mobile. And it is not.
But Apple and Samsung will get a jolt and a tough competitor.
It tried but when realized it was not its core business, it sold it.
Lenova is buying Google's Motorola unit for $3B. Flash news on CNBC.
I think it has been discussed here a number of times. Xeon will not be replaced for 80% of the server market. Yes there could be some server markets that could use Avoton or next Intel chips. It helps Intel both ways.
Once it is determined that Atom chips or ARM equivalent are just as good as it looked on paper, everyone will come back to Intel even more.
With future core chips even less power hungry, it will become a mute point to use Atom or equivalent.
It proves the incumbency theory. That is why Intel is having difficult times penetrating phone market.
Anything is possible. There is no limit to anyone can dream off.
wish you all the best.
Whether it is true or not, only time will tell. That is the opinion of that writer. If sooner, then that is your opinion and no data to back that up.
2016/2017 and not next year. That also if TSMC has funds to start production of the same. I am using information from that article.
I forgot to mention mas name from the list. I love his rationale and reasoning and the amount of information he provides to the board.
Great article. I don't know anything about Handle and his creditability but all the discussions that started with TSMC being in production at 20nm, he puts to rest.
All this discussions was for naught. Most of these folks were talking by ignoring all the basic facts.
I agree with you. If these folks that mentioned do analysis of number posts they post. They outnumbered every one else.
I am not sure they realize it.
This board was very good with a lot of technical information along with business reasoning. all that has disappeared.
I used to love to hear from WBMW, Chipguy, Elmar, Samad, Mike, Saturn, and other who name I don't recall. They have stopped posting it completely except a few here and there.
Ofcourse. That is an easy excuse. Blame it on something else.
Point is no revenue from 20nm. Even Xilinx stated that revenue from 20nm is years away. What you don't get it and don't want to get it.
Yes, without core Atom does not exist.
Every news about any other company is a bad news for Intel. On every turn you will find something wrong with intel. Keep on going.
I heard the same and here everyone who loves to bash Intel, believes its happening now because TSMC said so.
And there is zero revenue from 20nm. It is on older generation. I might have stated that its majority of revenue will be on 28nm going forward for quite sometime.
When someone uses this kind of language, it reflects more on the person who uses. I did not expect any thing different. You have nothing here to prove here as TSMC is concerned.
This is how you feel bad and want to bail out of Intel. Too much expectations and no delivery to those expectations by Intel.
If Intel could do this, won't it show up some where in its plan.
It has not and as such stop dreaming like this.
I agree with you 100%. I have been following this board for long time. I am ex-Intel employee from the system side and not from semi side.
Last few days it has been the worse I have seen.
I am glad you are seeing the same thing what others have said so many times.
It takes 3rd generation to make a product. Where are the products from the first generation/ They must be in production and being sampled.
Some of you claiming that TSMC has 20nm process in production etc. etc. At the same time it is lying as if there is no tomorrow.
make it up as you go along. xlinx CEO was on CNBC. He clearly stated that all of its revenue practically is on 28nm. Go listen to him and then talk.
How come bonuses are higher? Company is loosing money and is rewarding management and employees with bonuses.
I never heard of this.
May be analyst will start with great quarter and congratulations.
No one is going to believe you, chipguy. Intel is just making excuses for DCG revenue shortfall.
Why that would be silly? You have implied it anyway.
BK was in senior management position as well. There was a board as well. Just to blame PO for everything. This is not Intel style and will never be.
Intel has accepted that it missed the mobile boat. Accept it and move on.
As others are bailing out, you can do as well.
I was going to post that article. That will for once lay out where Intel is and why. I clearly layout why Qualcom is not that great an investment. I like that article very much
I will post that article later.
Exactly. Some of these folks wanted Intel stock to drop to $19-$20..00 so that they could buy it. Or mostly rub it on others saying I told you so.
Despite Intel poor performance on mobile, the stock is holding very well.
Mas, you are spoiling fun of these trios. Let them live in their fantacy. It is not good to wake them from their dreams.
