I posted this back in November, just thought I'd bring it to the top again for any noobs scanning our board. And as most of us know, times almost up for these filings(in a good way).
Just another step in the right direction.
(the above is a copy of an old post)
All these marks are in the opposition phase of the trademark process. They get published in a trademark publication source and a deadline is given for anyone who wants to challenge the mark. Was actually just triple checking last night and still no change in status. Looking through other companies marks from Pearl Jam to Curry in a Hurry, it seems that the process can be as short as 2-3 months. We were published for opposition in Mid to late March.

Yeah I tried searching all around too, Social sites, Google..etc.

Article: Spiders create plastics with biotech silk:
Producing biopolymer plastics from silk woven by spiders for their webs was presented in a paper by Prof. Thomas Scheibel from the faculty of applied sciences at Bayreuth university at the VDI plastics in automotive engineering conference in Mannheim, Germany in April.

So the good news is German researchers continue to do research that lends itself to the real world implications of Spider silk. Another post I put up, Post # 19264 First investigation of spider silk braided microsurgical suture (which was also recently published by German researchers) proves another founded use for spider silk.
The caveat here is that AMSilk seems like a competitor for KBLB, although I haven't seent the details as to how they get their end line silk or how it compares to KBLB's silk (at this phase or in ideal phase). Many companies/researchers we've seen have different methods with different degrees of succes and cost with regards to spider silk developement. I think AMSilk is one of the projects that creates the silk in chemical vats (still looking into them & I think we've discussed them on this board before) which is extremely expensive compared to KBLB's process. I strongly believe KBLB's is still the most efficient/cost effective method .I know I've read about AMSilk before and I'm pretty sure they've been around just as long as KBLB.
I would love to have a question directly asked to Kim regarding his knowledge of AMSilk (if any..but c'mon he should know) and how they exactly measure up with KBLB.
To reiterate, the great thing here is that news is going around that Spider Silk would revolutionize the plastics industry too!

I guess it's symantex really. For me, the details as to what's been taking place = material company news.
But that's why I'm here, to get others POV.

Seriously though, with regards to Kings post #19365:
King, Great find. I do personally believe it is KBLB's silkworms being referred to in the video, but it really could as easily be some other silkworm project at the time....but c'mon it all seem to fit right in.
And with regards to Ed's post #19427:
Ed's basically saying we need not look or post any info other then what's todays price, what's going to be tomorrows price, who can guess what number for Friday...yaddayadda yadda. The numbers game is great if you don't care or want to know what your investing in and your a Blind trader (No offense Pig.lol). You should obviously know your at the wrong message board if that's your only game for KBLB.
We will all (those that brought all this DD together that make this board what it is) continue to look for information. We'll leave the very imporant guessing of what going to be the price before Mothers day to you Ed.

Where it shows the shareholder count, how does it calculate the number of shareholders?
Is it number of shareholders holding more than a certain percentage tracked? Perhaps only 26 institutions/investors hold more than 5% so that's all it keeps track of.

Never underestimate the power of a conference call. For a lot of people this will be the first real time chance to get to know the CEO of Kraig Labs and for us longs it's only the 3rd time (live that is, unless I'm mistaken, if it is more it's not by much) we get to see how he handles himself and how he presents/expresses his viewpoints of where the company stands and where it's going. Another thing to note is how many more people via SIAL and SIGMO will be listening compared to the last cc. At this point the investment is like a colander. We have plenty of substance (especially with all the DD done here) but there are many holes. Money comes in but leaks out slowly due to the many questions (holes) that even we (with all our colaberative research) still have. Any details that Kim can give will fill in those holes to allow for a more air tight vessel. I can easily see .15 as the next holding point for this stock after he speaks (and I'm trying to be extremely conservative, I really think it's impossible to put a number on this stock and that trying to really handicaps the SP, not to mention I really just hate prognosticating exact numbers).

Water-Catching Properties of Spider Webs Inspire New Materials
Okay, I've thought of just about everything as far as uses for what KBLB is creating but I have to admit I never thought of this.
Source:http://www.ideaconnection.com/innovation-in-business/New-Materials-Inspired-by-Water-Catching-Properties-o-00132.html
Excerpts:
Breakthrough:
A new study into how spider webs are able to catch water from the air could speed up the development of manmade materials that capture atmospheric moisture. These could be used to provide water to drought-stricken areas.
Whilst much is known about the strength of webs the scientists were keen to probe the lesser known ability of spider silk to capture and hold onto rain and morning dew – a mechanism that saves a spider from having to find a water source.
Moist droplets that hang from the spaces in between are drawn toward their nearest spindle-knot, where they gather in larger droplets. The difference in texture between the rough knots and the smooth joints aids the water movement.
“As anyone who has admired spider webs adorned with dew drops will appreciate, spider silk is also capable of efficiently collecting water from air. Here we show that the water-collecting ability of the capture silk of the cribellate spider Uloborus walckenaerius (a common non-venomous spider) is the result of a unique fiber structure that forms after wetting,” Jiang wrote in the science journal Nature.
Mimicking Nature-
Following this research Jiang’s team fabricated fibers that copied these properties. To do this artificial silks were formed by coating nylon fibers with poly(methylmethacrylate)/N,N-dimethylformamide-ethanol, which dries in tiny knots just like those in real spider silk. “Our artificial spider silk not only mimics the structure of wet-rebuilt spider silk but also its directional water collection capability,” the scientists claim.
The new material could be used to upgrade fog-catching nets such as those deployed in the coastal Andes that are providing people with water that they otherwise don't have access to. If the technology is commercialized it could be of great to benefit to communities living in rain-starved areas of the world.
Pretty cool stuff to think about, even better to think that KBLB could replace what they're making.

First investigation of spider silk braided microsurgical suture.
Article first published online: 22 MAR 2011
Source:http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/jbm.b.31825/full
Full article courtesy of dadofduck, post #19257
Let's get to the fun parts:
-A high tensile strength has been described as an advantage for microsuture materials.13 The last finding in particular explains that a higher tension per cm relative elongation is possible, indicating a better energy absorbance. The unique nanostructural alignment of the spider silk's proteins, i.e. the dynamic alignment of the highly organized antiparallel beta-sheet crystals and the less orderly semiamorphous, glycine-rich phase, displays a distinct stress–strain curve.25 Loading with smaller stress values results in a large strain in spider silk fibrils, whereas loading with higher stress values leads to nanostructural conformational changes leading to a high stiffness. This suggests that for a small strain, a very high stress has to be loaded.
(To be fair I'm including this paragraph from the report that has some drawbacks to spider silk, the positive remarks here again I higlight in red)
-The manufacturing process of spider silk suture material could hardly produce as small tolerances as an industrial produced nylon suture. Another disadvantage was the fact that a braided suture usually damages the nerve more than a monofil suture; the irregular surface tears bigger holes in the epineurium than the sliding of the smooth surface of a monofil suture. However, the manufactured spider silk suture had the ability to mould, which could be displayed by the change in diameter by tightening the suture, indicating that the suture would preferentially mould itself rather than tear holes in the epineurium. On the other hand, a braided structure offers a higher surface area with a more niche-like structure, providing superior possibilities for cells, i.e. Schwann cells, to adhere.
-Spider silk was shown to have a very good cyto- and biocompatibility in studies concerning subcutaneous implantation as well as usage of recombinant spider silk protein as wound dressing19, 20, 23, 29 and also to act as an effective matrix and guidance structure for nerve regeneration by our work group.21, 22 Recently, an interesting study has been published which described the modulation of cell growth after exposure to different types of silk, i.e. two silk-worm silks and spider-silk egg sac silk as well as exposure to conditioned media incubated with these silks.30 Spider silk exposure as well as exposure to spider silk conditioned medium silk showed significantly less inhibitory effect on cell growth than one silkworm silk, indicating further investigations concerning the chemotactic effects on silk and spider silk, in particular. Moreover, besides the potential to act as an allergen, silks have proven their high antimicrobial properties, suggesting their use for medical application.31 These antimicrobial potential may lead to lower infection rates in peripheral nerve surgery, which is often caused by trauma and thus offering septic wound conditions. Additionally, recombinant spider silk displayed a very low pyrogenicity, giving further indication concerning its use in trauma surgery, where sepsis is a common problem.31 As spider silk sutures showed mechanical properties at least more than 1.5-fold higher than those of nylon sutures, it seems presumable that during the degradation process mechanical stability may remain extant that hold certain strength. Therefore, spider silk sutures may be a promising alternative to conventional suture materials in microsurgery and neurosurgery in particular. Further studies should also deal with antimicrobial properties of native spider silk fibers as well as determine exact stress–strain curves to verify the promising mechanical promises of this pilot study.

Thank you so much dadofduck. I honestly didn't expect anyone to come back with something on that one. I was thinking I'd try going to a local library for access.
The info from this gives current hard evidence of use for KBLB's silk in the medical arena. (at least that's how I see it)
Any info that reinforces our investment is good info.
Thanks again dadofduck!

Zinc & Rural Urban welcome to the board. It's great to have new people to contribute to the DD here. Zinc-Really like the point of view you have especially since you came in via your investment to SIGMO. -I thought I read that in a post of yours.-
RuralUrban great info, the more information the better.
This board now has Longs, DayTraders, and Synergy investors.
Great points of view to have and consider.
Lets go KBLB.
Great board here.
Way to go Navy Seals/U.S.A.!!
So what "story" are you talking about. Do you have proof of being misled. It's one thing to be pessimistic/negative. But now your getting in to slander. So please explain to the ihub board here how you have been misled and given "storys" from Kim Thomson CEO of KBLB.
The main thing to worry about here is so plain and simple. At the end of certain trials and tests they'll say. It doesn't work. We just can't get it to work. That's it. There is no big mystery here. There is no conspiracy theory. If this doesn't work Kim (the genius that he is) will say so. Why? Because the whole project is legitamate. If it doesn't work he can go on to something else. The scientific community will say good try. Way to go Wyoming, UnivOfNotreDame, Fraser, Kim nice try.
Oh but wait. they announced it worked at Notre Dame lasy year in September. Soooo. The next worry is whether or not the Sigma addition will make it happen faster. And if not they'll say so.
Then they'll have to go the looong way and go back to what they were doing before the License deal.
Go KBLB.
All this is JMO.
I really feel the statement to lead that you've been directly mislead or fed stories is a step to far.
I'm just scratching my head after reading this one.....

Thanks Eddie. For the second time. Yeah I know. If you've been on this board you know I know when this came out. No one stickied it though and thought I should. When we get a fixed date for a CC I will (or another mod) should replace the stickie.
Since so many ,oh actually you eddie. Since you make multiple posts about the "info" being kept from you from the company I figured I should post the last communication from KBLB. So you can see it up at the top along with the other noobs to KBLB so they can see what's going on. I mean I know this company has been ever so quiet (sarc.), except for that license agreement that was just announced, but hey.
When you complain about news we know your not actually complaining about news, your wining because you want to hear that your rich and you can stop trading. Without that news all other PRs fall of your deaf ears.
Press conference.
Shareholders call.
Trademarks filed.
Year end letter to shareholders.
Notices of addition to advisory board.
Quiet time (3months) Then License Agreement Deal Announced.
Now CEO whispers, hey guys can you be a Big boy and hang on cause Im effn really busy but I will have a conference soon..and you still think he's somehow not giving info to shareholders?..
Anyone with a reason would understand that at the end of "silence" there was proof of productive work being done with your investement ie, The Sigma License Deal. You should be , oh i guess the silence was for a reason, maybe I was over reacting....maybe I should learn from what occured. Nope.. I'll keep shouting the sky is falling.
GO KBLB.
The sky isnt falling. Peices are falling into place though, but it takes time. Overposting does not create more time for things to happen. Redundant/overposts will be audited if it becomes a problem.

I guess someone took it upon themselves to get the "spidersilk" trademark. Not sure why KLabs didnt put in for it. I never really looked it up before, I assumed someone already had it. Maybe Thompson did too? Or, maybe they thought the term was too broad to trademark?
I looked up the company that put in for the mark, they really have nothing to do with anything that should say spidersilk.
So I think they're either a proactive shareholder or someone who got wind of KBLB and wants a piece of the action. Wondering if KBLB could/would/should move in at the opposition phase.
GO KBLB.
I agree with previous posters who say this PR is to most likely stop the phone from ringing with a question here and there. Kim is probably extremely busy right now and trying to keep up with the flood of calls coming in. Im sure he feels it's easier to put this out so he can answer all the questions at once, allowing him to focus on the more important tasks that need to be done. I'm sure time is Kim's worst enemy. Probably not enough hours in the day for this CEO right now.

So this will totally revolutionize the aerospace industry if they achieve what they are trying to do here, right? And a slew of other industries also. The amount of overlap this project has over everyday mundane things all the way to the space age stuff is jaw dropping remarkable. Some companies make a lots of pebbles, when they let them go small waves of change happen over the industry they're in. This will be like a meteor crashing into the planet of industry. Everything will be effected. Wonder if the new silworms taste any different too, lol (people eat silkworms...eww)
JMO.
Go KBLB.
This is a research based investment. The company doesn't have anything that generates income /yet. This going concern has Always been a factor and is nothing new. So I did't highlight it as it isn't anything new. The company is striving to remedy that problem as it tries to complete the silkworm project. If the companies ability to continue as a going concern surprises you or scares you out of this stock then you haven't read any of their 10ks before or you've never invested in a biotech research stock and this isn't the investemnt for you.
Funding is always a concern with research stocks that make no product/profit yet. Obivously important yes, but not the most, and not news.
This is the kind of company/idea you put some money into and hope it pans out in 5-?years. Where it is now is at the tail end of that time. And you can take away, that the last 5 years of the ability to remain a going concern and continuance to remain steadfast towards their goal shows the leadership within. They are almost (seems as if) done with what they're trying to accomplish, and in that will not just be able to continue but flourish.
IMO.
GO KBLB.
That's pretty funny (the football reference).
In regards to longs post, I just don't see Fraser leaving the University all together. Aside from his Piggy Bac work/ contribution to KBLB, Fraser's work and research in the field of diseases is pretty substantial. I don't think he'd stop his research in that direction for KBLB. He can work for/with KBLB, profit from it and continue his other works.
The other thing is I'm sure the University has a ton of other projects it could be using it's facilities for instead of this project (not saying this isn't important or more important than some other project) but if this project's CEO has a chance to finance it's own lab rather than using Notre Dame's resources, it could benefit both groups. I do believe Sigma is pretty good at running/outfitting labs and has all sorts of resources related to(anything is possible).
And I'm not sure if the Zinc Fingers replaces the PiggyBac Technique. I thought it worked in conjuction with. The Zinc Fingers tech creates a really specific formula in which to insert using the Piggy Bac tech. But hey, I really have no idea. Going through Sigma's website and reading into thier processes is mind numbing.
My thought (in gun terms) was Zinc fingers is the improved bullet and Piggy Bac is the laser sight. Without each you have imperfect ammo and you can't aim for nothing.
We should work up a list together of Important and reasonable questions to ask at CC (when and if we get one).
JMO.
Good weekend to all.

Our collaborative research agreement with the University expired on March 1, 2011. The Company is in discussions with the University on renewing the agreement for anther twelve months. Management anticipates that it will enter into a new research agreement with the University on substantially the same terms as the expired agreement. NOTE 9 SUBSEQUENT EVENTS
Management has evaluated subsequent events through April 12, 2011, the date which the financial statements were available to be issued.
On March 22, 2011 the Company issued 2,083,333 shares of common stock for $100,000 ($0.048/share).
On April 8, 2011 the Company entered into a five year consulting agreement for research and development. Pursuant to the terms of the agreement, the Company has to issue within 10 days following the effective date $70,000 worth of stock and pay a license fee of $30,000. The Company has a five year right to exercise the option for a commercial medical license or the commercial textile license. The fee for the first license is a $289,000 and shares equivalent in value to $675,000. The fee for a second commercial license is $75,000 and shares equivalent in value to $175,000. All payments are non-refundable.
On April 1, 2011 the Company issued 1,000,000 shares with a fair value of $70,000 ($0.07/share) to a consultant for research and development services.
Adventurous:Potential upcoming dilution? Gotta get cash somewhere. Still LONG!
"We anticipate that our operational, and general & administrative expenses for the next 12 months will total approximately $750,000. We do not anticipate the purchase or sale of any significant equipment. We also do not expect any significant additions to the number of employees. The foregoing represents our best estimate of our cash needs based on current planning and business conditions. The exact allocation, purposes and timing of any monies raised in subsequent private financings may vary significantly depending upon the exact amount of funds raised and our progress with the execution of our business plan.
In the event we are not successful in obtaining financing, we may not be able to proceed with our business plan for the commercialization of our products and further research and development of new products. We anticipate that we will incur operating losses in the foreseeable future. Therefore, our auditors have raised substantial doubt about our ability to continue as a going concern."

Hilarious! I really didn't think you'd get it. Or maybe you looked it up.
Every time I see your Ihub Pic that's what pops into my head.
Yeah no sea monsters here. Just Silk Monsters hehe.
Or rather Monster Silk.
Go KBLB.
So we're in the last hour.
It's been a very fun week for both traders and investors here.
At this point with so many things on the burner news can pop at any time allowing for the possibility of a gap up in price.
10k Filing, Sigma agreement details, Conference call TBA(maybe to explain 10k and Sigma agreement), Sigma's actual delivery of the Zinc Fingers tool set to the lab, Trademark update, also Sigma will discuss financials Apr 26 and they have a shareholder meeting on May 3rd I believe.
Whew! That's all we have going for us. hehe.
So traders should not take their eyes off of the stock and Long to Medium Term investors should be basking in a stream of news and a reaction in pps with a steady wind for the next couple months.
All this is JMO.
GO KBLB.
That's excellent, I gladly accept.
Really months? Geez..I should have noticed that sooner.
Hey Dive, d'you know this quote?
"Sea monster Ate My ICE CREAM!!"
Just had to ask.
Go KBLB>
Hey just noticed I'm an assistant. How'd that happen?
Go KBLB.
