LOL the first time I walked on to a carpenter job they handed me a blueprint. I was in school for engineering and computer drafting so I could read it like the back of my hand and got hired in an instant. It's been a long journey since then. I had no idea how to swing a hammer or saw a board effectively but I learned through practice..
Even commercial stuff was tricky at first because steel framing is way different than wood. Screwguns were even difficult for me at first but now I can use them in my sleep.
Hats off to your son, not everyone can be an electrician.. Electricity is like Japanese to me. I still have to get my electrician to text me detailed schematics in order for me to make the proper connections and even then I'm worried that I'll burn the place down. He calls me a dummy and asks how I can never learn something so simple but I'm older now and just don't bother.. I just put the bones in, I can't give them the marrow.
I think what saved me was playing on the college golf team. It gave me a purpose outside of school and I was decent at it. Back then I had a ton of energy so sleeping was only an option and I was up to a ton of stupid stuff.
I got into some shady business at too young of an age but I always worked hard at my real jobs because I knew what the alternative was and didn't want to be those people..
LOL they voted me 'best businessman' in my high school class and it definitely had nothing to do with me being the next Bill Gates..
When I got on the golf course it opened up a new world for me, rubbing elbows with successful people and seeing their vulnerabilities as well as my own.. Of course I only wound up being a carpenter but it was something I could be involved in.. I tried woking in offices and it drove me nuts. It is more fun to build them.
well, not so great considering we only had a class of 250 dudes and most of them were jocks and dumb as stumps who only got passing grades because they could play sports LOL.
The real suffering came when I had to explain to my parents why my diploma was not there. I had to tell them that I had been forging my father's signature on detention slips for over two years so they had no idea what a little shithead I was.
Fortunately it was too late to cry over spilled milk and in hindsight that piece of parchment didn't mean anything to me.. I got accepted to all the colleges I applied to but could not secure any real type of scholarship so it made it completely unaffordable.. I put myself through community college because that's what I could afford. Never graduated from there but I had enough credits to do so..
LOL I graduated top ten in my HS class and didn't even get my diploma at the ceremony. I got an empty folder because I had racked up hours of unserved detention time (we called it the jug) . I had to go back and paint stuff for a couple weeks just to get my certificate.
That's the price I had to pay for being a little smart ass.
obviously not. For us it was just a gold tassel on our cap in Jr. High and High School. We didn't have sashes to wear, just a gown.
eeeew, please let me unsee that.
you don't respect anyone but I have to admit I'm inspired by your work ethic. I could go on Yahoo and round up 20 headlines as well but it doesn't mean a thing if I don't actually read the stories and be prepared to back them up with factual evidence.
I'm busy today so I can't break them all down at this moment but be sure this post is saved and is up for continued debate. Again, good job. Not the normal convoluted word salad you often provide here.
you're learning and that's a good thing..
used to love yard work but now it's like a chore. I gotta get pumped up.

man I miss these guys.....
Have you ever had a bad experience? I've always been afraid I would get scammed because it seems so sketchy. I guess I feel the same way about most anything on the internet but I see Amazon trucks all over the place and know people who swear by it.
I do order stuff for my pets from chewy though and I'm very impressed with their services.

lol I remember the first time I tried venison from the deer hunters.. Let's just suffice it to say it was not what I thought it would be. Now, I don't have anything against hunters and people that rely on food from wild game.
We all have to live and do it any way that we can. I tried a wild turkey that some dude cooked up one time at thanksgiving and again, I'm sticking with butterball from here on out.
I guess it's really where we all come from and what we are used to.. everyone's taste varies. I know a guy who goes to a well in kentucky to get all his drinking water. He fills up gallons upon gallons of it and drinks it all the time. To me it tastes like shit but to him it's very good and packed with all our essential minerals..
I don't judge. It would be unfair for me to tell them that I want to vomit. I try to be nice even when it's not really my cup of tea.
LOL I'm not sure about all that, some stone cold lincoln logs might be able to add a flavor that cherry cedar chips cannot provide.
I don't give a shit. I'm more pissed off about how he stole national secrets and tried to hide them from us in a basement toilet . I'm even more angry that the cocksucker incited a riot on our capitol that resulted in many injuries to the police who were there protecting democracy while his sycophants were screaming to kill our vice president and deficating on the walls and desks of our property..
You need to sit the fuck down.
do you have a line on the hundreds of other cases that Manhattan is trying now? You do understand that your guy is not the only one who has to go through the system and it's not up to you to decide who sits on the hot seat and who doesn't. Right?
He's lucky his dumb ass isn't sitting at Rikers now for all the attacks that you and his fellow sycophants carry out online daily. If you're such a great tax attorney then get your ass down to the courtroom and represent your client. Otherwise, let the trial take its course..
LOL I sit down to pee. If I happen to be dangling too deep there's some real issues that could arise. I'd hate to go out that way.
Thinking of pet fish I had and all the missed opportunities for a gourmet dish leaves me pondering the taste of a goldfish? Or my cichlids? I could have served them up as sea bass and nobody would have been the wiser..
It probably shouldn't be humorous but it was for me at the time. I kind of feel bad for feeling that way, but he deserves it. I laughed pretty hard.
you don't need to watch the whole thing but here's a clip...
I don't even want to know. That's definitely not how we did it at UPS.... I wouldn't buy a thing from that website, even with all your pennies that you donate to my dog catcher campaign fund.
The best one was where his tooth fell out while he was at a press conference.
Why don't you contract that man to come build a building in your back yard? You could set it all up, from the groundwork to the rooftop. Pay all the contractors as the work progresses out of your own pocket because you trust him to pay you back.
Then, when he doesn't pay you back and actually fights you in court, costing you thousands more you can come back to the board and tell us how it's all Democrats' fault that he never paid you and you lost your ass..
Dipswitch setting moved from one to three.
I owned my home since I was 30. I took lines of credit out so I could buy other homes in distress. It kind of screwed me in the end because when I divorced it all unraveled. I was way ahead of the game but when she cut me off at the knees, I got stuck in a little hole.
I've since made good on everything, after all the checks cashed but it was a bit chippy there for awhile..
Me and blackcat are going to build a tiny house town for the homeless if we ever win the billion dollar lottery. Of course there are drawbacks which were mentioned before like running water and sewers, but nothing can be overcome if you have the "big bucks".💰️
I thought composting toilets were a little strange but those things are taking it to a whole new level. I've been to outhouses in my days and that's never a pleasant experience. I prefer indoor plumbing. We have sewers but at the least, get a septic system.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Composting_toilet
oh dear, what could possibly go wrong? 😬
I'm running for dog catcher, can you give me a penny today? I promise to be the best dog catcher this neighborhood has ever seen. I have great experience chasing my own down the street and I'm really good at it. You probably have met us before, but rounding her up has shaped my life experience into a goal for my community..
Just 1 penny could make all the difference in my campaign. I promise to catch all the loose dogs and return them to their rightful owners, unlike my opponent who only wants to take them to the gravel pit.
Can you donate today?
Just one penny could make this happen.
All my best,
Newmedman
That's ridiculous on its face but coming from you I can understand it.. Please show me how alternative energy costs more. Is there a study or something?
I switched to solar power myself and I'm already saving a ton of money by putting it back into the grid that the electric company will pay me back for. I don't have an electric vehicle and might never have one in my lifespan but nobody is forcing me to make that change.
I still have my natural gas stove, furnace, hot water heater, dryer and again, nobody is forcing me to change those either.. You've been sold a bill of goods by people who only try to tickle your nerves about shit that is never going to happen.
Just like when you all were upset that people were going to come and take your guns. I still have mine and I live in one of the most restricted places in the country..
You're just full of hot fucking air and when you exhale it clouds up other dumbshits like yourself who want to believe what you're saying without having any real life experiences to back it up.
Nobody was traveling in 2020. They couldn't even give gasoline away, planes weren't flying, boats weren't sailing and businesses were on hold. Would you rather we go back to those days so you can get cheap gas again?
Your drill baby drill bullshit is nonsense. What the fuck is drilling more oil going to produce when there is no demand for it? Do you want us all to fill our swimming pools with light sweet crude? We are the largest exporter of oil in the world. Call fucking Exxon, Chevron or BP if you have a problem with your gas prices.
They said it, not me. I try to stay off the racist topic these days because I just get angry when I start talking about it. I don't give a shit who you are or what you look like, if you can walk, talk, breathe and celebrate life like me then you're in my group.
I hate bigots with a passion.. all this DEI, CRT, white replacement theory stuff has gone way too far and it's those same white elitists who are killing themselves over it. They are the immoral assholes and not the people they are attacking.
just for reference, here is one of the motels that we worked on.
https://detroitfoundationhotel.com
It was one of the original fire houses in Detroit if not the original one.. Taking apart old things and historic architecture is sad but restoring it to its original beauty while repurposing it is something I live for. I know nobody would care about some of the old door hardware that is in my possession from that place but I have it and it means a lot to me.
Of course it's just across the street from the stadium where everyone congregates on game/concert day but after that was over the people disappeared and I couldn't imagine why.
My guess was the old money that holds those other buildings hostage didn't want any "darkies" to occupy them and they crushed themselves because they owned all the property already. They let it go into disrepair rather than cater to a diverse population because of the color of their skin..
What's wrong with the budget? Look, I'm sorry you worked all your life for cash and don't have shit to fall back on. I don't have a ton either, but I will have a pension, an annuity and social security when I retire.. Maybe some decent healthcare too.
If it was up to the republicans, they'd take that all away from me. For what? I don't know but I sure as hell want to protect my own interests.
your nonsense about corporate interest stems from the state you live in, not mine. Possibly you could canvas and vote for better candidates who represent your interests and not their own? Maybe even teach the youngsters around you the same message instead of being a spiteful old man?
It's been awhile since I was in either place, so I'm not really sure, those were just my observations from the time I spent in each city .. I was in Minneapolis too when they were building the new stadium and it was a bit hectic but I liked the home town feeling. Milwaukee, I visit quite often and get the same vibe. I think law enforcement is a bit overbearing in each place but I don't make the rules.
We all have growing pains. It's how we deal with them that makes us a special community.
What do you think? If you were a juror, would you vote to convict? Or do you have concerns? Are there places where you think the government hasn’t met its burden? The question is a little bit disingenuous in that, unlike the jury, we are not watching the trial but rather, reading about it in notes from courtroom observers. (I will try to avoid my usual harangue about how out of step it is with reality not to have cameras in the courtroom in 2024), But let's engage in the exercise. Put yourself in the place of a juror. Imagine the very high burden the court has imposed upon you to do justice. With Cohen's direct testimony complete and cross-examination underway, where do you stand and why?
Good article from Joyce White Vance but I unfortunately could not be an unbiased juror. I want to see his incontinent ass roasted on a spit for a whole life of crimes he has committed to only enrich himself. I'd be the first one to say "count me out" and I believe the judge would agree with me. 🤐😇
Georgia has been bringing it to Putin lately. good on them!!
not to be confused with our American counterpart but pretty damn close..
