China small caps up 11.49% first week 2010.
All,
The China small cap index, based on Research59's list of 93 stocks (92 tracked), is up 11.49% for the first week of 2010.
This is simply amazing considering the index was up 189% last year.

I guess that the Chinese small caps will do great this year.
The Chinese small cap index is going up by 11.38% percentage in the first five trading days this year.
It went up in each of the five days.
ALN wakes up with a 10% gain
It is been limping since the PIPE.
The people seem getting over it.
LLEN, PUDA, SGZH:
Gorilla,
This time, the demand for coal is universal, so LLEN (in S. China) and benefit as much as PUDA and SGZH, if not more.
Being in S. China, LLEN does not surfer from the brutal winter as in N. and Central China. It does not have frozen facilities and/or roads/railways. I read reports on difficulties with coal transportation since the coals are frozen.
But all three companies will see a huge surge in demand, and the frozen roads are only temporary.
Quote:"LLEN is in Yunnan province, South China - they will benefit from general lack of supply but not as directly as PUDA Shanxi province and SGZH in Heilongjiang Province. "
Good luck to all, including those in N. and Central China.
Just curious - how do you set up the cc with Crane, or any other CFO?
Joe - hope you are correct on CCME.
I am semi-loaded with it - accumulate it in the recent drop. It is a great company. The warrant drag should start fading by now.
The stock does need a little help. Most people only see the recent drop/warrant, few can see the tremendous growth in the company.
Chinese small caps take a breath?
After 3 stellar days and 9.8% gain in the first three days 2010, the Chinese small caps seem to be take a short breath this morning.
The stock index, as tracked by VMM index of 93 stocks, was done 0.5% in early trading today.

LPIH - Smart bet
A good write up on Sumfolio
A Smart Bet on Energy with Longwei Petroleum
Investors looking for a value and growth play on energy in China have to look no further than Longwei Petroleum Holdings, Inc. (LPIH) ....
Currently, the stock trades at just 9.15x its trailing 12-month earnings with strong growth potential looking ahead. The company recently announced that it would construct a new plant and storage tanks in the growing Gujiao City, which is expected to double the its storage capacity and revenues beginning in FY 2010.
In a recent presentation, the company projected 2010 earnings per share to be $0.38, while they are projected to grow to $0.80 per share in 2011. Utilizing these multiples, the stock trades with a forward price-earnings ratio of just 3.4x for 2011. And with projected net year-over-year growth of more than 100%, the stock’s PEG ratio is well below the value play marker.

ECSC Top Picks voting
Goal:
Establish a set of simple and transparent rules that will govern the selection process of ECSC top picks in a repeatable fashion. (This way, we are comparing apples to apples every time. )
The actual mechanics and methodology for the poll to be determined.
Consensus so far:
1) The poll should be open and transparent
2) The poll will take place on this board
3) Each voter (contributor) shall list his/her stocks of choice AND give the reasons for his/her choices.
4) The poll should be done regularly at pre-determined interval
5) It is a top ten pick, so each contributor can recommend up to 10 stocks (The final tally, however, may have 10 to 15)
Things to be decided
6) Eligibility criteria for the stocks?
(e.g. Bogus07: US traded China stocks, market cap ~ 1B to include RINO etc, No exchange limitation - so Pink sheet OK?)
7) Who can vote? (Open to everyone?, or just regular posters on this board)
- Rames suggests that the voting is open to everyone, but he will delete those votes who use new alias to eliminate double counting and manipulation.
- The question is actually whose votes will be counted.
8) The voting interval
- Quarterly? (This seems to be the consensus)
- Every month?
- Every 6 weeks?
Technical difficulties and limitations
As this board grows, the voting population will become large, the tally of the votes then become difficult.
Tenenbaum: Voting of top stocks
Good point here. The actual mechanics and methodology for the poll remain to be determined:
1) Eligibility criteria for the stocks? (e.g. US traded only? market cap < 500m ? Pink sheet OK or not?)
2) Who vote for what: do we want to record the each votes?.
3) Who can vote? (Open to everyone? or only those who did regular posting)
3) Poll can be online (easier) or by hand
(Note - It is technically impossible to do it by hand if the voting population is large.)
It is up to members of this board to establish a set of simple and transparent rules that will govern the selection process in a repeatable fashion. This way, we are comparing apples to apples every time.
Bogus,
I can help on the poll.
I can simply setup the poll in my website to tally the votes automatically. Just let me know how much help you need. I can help on the mechanics, or help the quarterly poll from beginning to end.
JGBO is up over 13%
I was watching JGBO, and a few other high flying stocks such as CHGS.
They are all up > 10% today.
Way to early. Re:"out @ 4.25"
BSPM is in consolidate mode right now and will be bouncing back big time.
BSPM - One lucky guy bought at $4.15.
It is a steal (although only 400 shares).
All the modeling and discussions a few days ago shows a forward EPS anywhere from $0.9 to $1.35.
BSPM's PPS has a lot of room upward.
BSPM - Bouncing like rabbits
.. Between the positive and negative.
There is a sized bid/ask spread - almost 2%.
The stock is looking for direction at this moment of time.
Baggers: Can you annotate NEWN chart?
Help show how it is going be $10 this week?
I own NEWN and definitely want to know.
TIA.
R59 and Wade,
Have you heard of covestor at http://www.covestor.com/.

China's winter creates coal shortage
It is been reported that major part of China is under winter spell. The brutal weather creates huge need for powers, as people overwhelming use electric heaters and electric thermal blanket. The electric companies (majority of them using coals for thermal generators) are facing coal shortage.
A search on Xinhua News' English reports shows that the energy shortage has been reported for a while now, ever since the winter started. Much of north China are facing the lowerest temperature in 50 years.
This report should add fuel to companies such as LLFH (now LLEN), PUDA, and SGZH.

Can someone put together a CCME 101?
Totally confused by the CCME discussion here.
I even read the presentation itself.
Seems like the whole share structure is put together with the full intention to confuse all the average Joes and all but few of the better-than-average Joes.
I sort of regret that I started to accumulate CCME. As Mr. Warren Buffet said, never invest in a company you do not understand.
NFEC - This is great news.
Quote: "NFEC - $8.65 target by Harbinger Research just a little while ago. So analyst coverage is coming and will give legs to the pps. "
There are three catalysts that will help lift the NFEC stocks big time:
1) Contracts, baby, contacts: NFEC is firing on all cylinders and it keeps getting all those contracts. (See CSP's posts for information.)
2) Upcoming uplisting and analyst coverage will bring attentions to the stock, increasing people's awareness. Harbinger Research is just a start.
3) More importantly, NFEC is in the right sector at the right time: It is part of the green energy/energy saving concepts, and therefore can potentially command a high PE ratio - like solar stocks. Chinese government is into the green and energy saving big time, and there would be great growth potential for NFEC in the coming years.
Quote: "Bet the farm on it."
I am betting the YUII chicken breeder farms to NFEC.
Research95 put together the original list of the companies.
I added the performance data and provided a web page.
Just checked the three stocks you suggested. I think all three make sense and should be on the list.
Good catch, steeledge, thanks for the suggestion.

You can see the daily performance for researcher95's China small caps index here:

The sheet is still kind of rough and need some tuning. But still,I am a little surprised that there are so many companies do well today.
Maybe we as a group here can develop a fund using the index.

CBTE -
Yes, GL group from China is buying into a listing in Nasdaq.
LPIH, Someone is accumulating
It started w a hugh bid of @ $2.91. The bid moved around a little to 2.9, now it moved up to 2.94, and down to now 2.90
Anybody know how to find out who the bidder is?
CBTE Reverse merge
I read this as a reverse merge. Basically GL Group of China and CBI of MA, USA merge the operation.
Upon completion, the current GL group will control 78% of the total shares, and 5 of the 7 board directors.
Assuming the shares are purely dilutive: with a current map cap is 5.53M (per yahoo 15 min ago), the future market cap of the company would be ~25M.
There is no info on the EPS of the combined company. Therefore it is difficult to judge the 0.649 PPS.
But GL group basically buying into a NASDAQ listing, I assume they must be paying a premium from yesterday's price of 0.385.
LPIH, NFEC early trading
LPIH opens at 2.80, now 2.85
HOD at 2.87, a new 52 wk high.
NFEC opens 4.14, now 4.15. Looks like the sellers is still there.
JoTeng, LPIH in break out mode
LPIH had in breakout mode since last Wednesday, when it smashed $2.5 line. There is no technical resistance.
With a very low forward P/E, question is how high can it go?
BSPM - Uplisting is closer
Appointing independent director is another major step toward to the uplisting requirement for a major exchange. Looks like a filing should be followed soon.
