Hey. If you mean his question about you pays the thousands of dollars that each of us owe, I've heard the idea bantered around that the government (including the "global governments") will simply devalue the currency. It's been done before.
Care to share what this MIGHT mean? or imply?
Good point - but isn't that TO BE DECIDED? No judge has ruled yet.
Well, surely someone on this board holds shares of Berkshire stock. Anyone care to comment on the submission that Berkshire shareholders can find out what stocks Berkshire buys/bought?
Yes I was an adult DURING RR.
You make some persuasive points. Are you a lawyer? Congrats on being wealthy also.
Totally agree with your pragmatic approach.
Read philosophy? If not, I highly recommend reading Richard Rorty, one of the great American thinkers. His words strongly influenced me toward my libertarian bent.
Maybe I'm wrong but don't shareholders of Berkshire funds have a right to know what investments Buffett makes?
If Buffett has indeed been buying (any way to prove that?) then I don't think anybody owning FnF has anything to worry about.
And Bush got voted back in also. I'm not defending Bush, just trying to put your opinion in a context. No offense.
Remember, I'm a libertarian.
But you sound like some of my liberal friends. Anytime anything is pinned on Obama, they always "blame Bush." After 5 years, isn't it about time to drop that one?
I did NOT vote for Bush.
No, not at all. Union township is further inland. Union City is right on the Hudson river shoreline.
Sorry I did not convince you of my point. I can't accept your conclusion. Oh well.
OK, but he IS the leader of our country so he should stand up for what is the rule of law. He's a lawyer after all - he can read.
Don't know where you live but I live in Union Township, NJ (work in NYC).
I can give you an example of why local media does NOT work. In Union township, after Hurricane Sandy, it was brought to the attention in the local press (by a crackerjack reporter) that several employees of the township had "borrowed" generators from the township to power their own particular homes. The reporter stayed on this story a LONG, LONG time. After hearings, legal proceedings, etc. ad nauseum, guess what? The Judge ruled in favor of the employees.
This is just one example. Point is that the people in power get there and try to stay there - and that's all they care about.
Can you give an example of local reporting that was effective?
I apologize to all my Obama people; I'm a liberterian; but this guy really scares me sometimes. I think if we all get screwed on FnF it will be Obama to blame. JMO
A little extreme there but if the day comes that I hear that a guillotine is being built on the DC mall, i just might crack a smile. :)
(Please Secret Service: I'm not advocating anything, just commenting)
Yes. I'm surprised by the amount of "levity" and maturity today in most of the posts. Usually these kinds of posts occur on weekends or after hours trading. In the meantime, during the day, we get all the cheerleaders and bashers. YAWN. I prefer the dialogues we are having today.
Maybe you are right. But the French revolution was a long time ago. The power people control things now - not us. I think that's called democracy. JMO
well, you pretty much burned up your keyboard on that reply Z :) I'll bet you get numerous responses.
Where to start? Are you paranoid? Not a classic, but borderline I would guess (no offense). You strike me as an overthinker; especially about things you CAN NOT CONTROL. I've been accused of that (but I plead guilty because I am a pianist and I consider it part of my discipline to overthink the way I play - it give me comfort); and I CAN THEN CONTROL IT.
Bless your wife - she seems solid as gold. As long as the both of you are honest and open, you shouldn't have any problem.
Jeez: I sound like a counselor - don't mean to.
All those examples you mentioned: I could care less. The deck is stacked against us. The people in power control things - so why worry about it? The only way we can deal with it is try to make our own way in the world the best we know how (and hope that FnF PPS goes way up)!!!
I've done a lot of reading about the founding fathers as well as other presidents and people in power (Robert Moses). I'm reading the 4 volume bio of LBJ now (by Robert Caro) and if anyone thinks that we citizens have ANY say as to what goes on in D.C., then read these books.
Yes, we owe the debt (and the deficit) -- our children will be saddled with it (perhaps we will also - I'm a boomer) but we are powerless to do anything about it.
So none of that crap haunts me - i'm looking for 3 squares a day and a roof over my head and my great piano to play. That's all I need (and for FnF PPS to way up)!!! and see Detearing in Vegas.
(Sorry to be so longwinded everybody)
1. Local media will do nothing - they don't care and even if they did care they would claim they don't have the "resources" to do that kind of investigating.
2. And let's just dream a little and say they actually did do the digging. Do you REALLY think that would change the minds of the power people in Washington?
Excuse me, but I'm a realist. All politicians are liars, cheats and thieves. We longs only have the rule of law on our side (as Obit and Detearing continually point out). And the "rule of law" doesn't mean much in D.C.
The last word anyone could use to describe me is "paranoid." And I'm no conspiracy theorist (I believe that Oswald shot Kennedy all by himself)
BUT
just like last quarter, the closer we get to earnings, the more crazy, looney and strange events seem to take place. There are some very powerful people manipulating/controlling this stock.
Right. And when our "leader" speaks, the price ALWAYS goes down.
Agree with Zargis as Alice said: It is getting curiouser and curiouser.
Do you (or anyone else) know that if a "basic membership" in IHUB (which I'm in) can post private messages?
LOL - are you talking about mine and Stockprofitter's bet? If so, I sent him/her a message yesterday saying that we should "get together" at the end of trading today. If the stock is below $3.50, then he owes me 300 buckaroos. That's the bet. And again, I hope he wins!
You have to consider that many of us on this board have been long on this stock for months and months. The PPS has gone up, has gone down over and over and over and over during the past 12 months. We don't get overly enthusiastic over .10 increases/decreases on a daily basis. We are looking for $1.00 or more increases. But we are all realists and we know that only 2 things will allow these increases: release from conservatorship and uplisting out of OTC trading. Until then, you won't get much excitement from us longs. When it goes over $5.45, then you will see excitement. And if you hang in until Detearing calls for the celebration at the Wynn, then you will see what excitement really is.
"Bulling engulfing" - Man I love to hear traderspeak. :)
Ha! I assumed you were watching (as well as others) out there in Fannie land. I'm sure he is aware that his reputation is on the line. I'll still trying to figure out how to arrange payment.
Hey there stockprofitter. Remember, we need to talk tomorrow afternoon at 3:59 p.m. EST.
Why do you say that DT? Aren't there over 100 names on the list? If this stock pops to $60, I don't see why not at least 50 or more attend the restoration toast . . .???
Advice taken Z. I trade with Schwab and really like my Schwab rep. They hold tutorials from time to time at the local office on trading techniques. I'm planning to use those as well as Internet videos. Now I'll add my fellow poster ZARGIS to that list. you are ON.
Hey - if I were at home, had a couple of monitors, learned how to chart, took a few investor lessons, I'd be flipping and trading all day. I admire those people. I can't do that because my $$ are in a retirement account and I have to wait for the 3-day settlement period in order to flip.
But when I retire (soon I hope) I'm gonna take some investing lessons from some experts, set up my home computers accordingly, and do some trading/flipping myself.
They are flippers and day traders. It's OK - there's nothing wrong with taking profits. You (and I) are apparently long and strong.
Can we attribute this rise to Yellen? What did she specifically say to trigger the rise? if anything
You can safely bet that the traders (MMs) are paying attention also. As well as "long" hedge funds.
I'm sure she's choosing her words "carefully." But it could be a catalyst of some sort.
Betcha if it "touches" 3.20 it'll go back down to 3.10 by EOD. That seems to be the pattern. UNLESS EARNINGS ARE ANNOUNCED.
Could someone post today's WSJ article about fannie/freddie? I don't subscribe to the Journal.
Blue: HOw do we follow you on "blue sky breakout"? Is there a website, link, ??
A few years ago, I emailed the CEO of this company (when it was a different name) and he said that there were millions of shares shorted. I'm wondering if the present price increase is due to shorts covering? I don't do Level II and am not aware of what types of shares are being traded today.
Anyone have an idea about this issue?
I'm in. Thought about selling some profits today but I think I'll just hang around. I'm generally long in everything.
Why the jump up? Any news?
