OK I'm running a P4 at 2.26 gigs, 512 RDRAM, 80gig hard drive, Soundblaster Pro/16 sound card, Windows XP Home, latest version of Windows Media Player 9.
So, I'm gonna try to figure out why some can get all geo and tripod sounds, and why I can't. Gotta figure this puzzle out.
Ahaa! I think I've got it. Under settings in my profile, I had "play embedded sounds" turned off. (I hate being startled unexpectedly by sound in the dead of night when I open a message with sound.)
That meant that when someone posted a sound file, I had to click on a "play suppressed sound" tab to get it to work. My Windows Media player would then show up, giving me info about the song, etc. and play the tune.
I just changed the setting for "play embedded sound" to on, went to post # 3994 of Missy's Geocities song, and Voila! It played.
So, "Play embedded sound" has to be turned to "on" for geocities tunes to play.
Betcha that's the problem.
Cool! Thanks for clarification.
I thought you were trying to say that those items were exclusive to EDIG.
And I'd sure feel more comfortable that you were't being snide if you'd just leave off the last sentences in your posts to me, lol.
Kinda like the "Hope this helps" sarcastic endings some use. (Not necessarily referring to you, JD.)
LOL! Nice non-answer.
And I see no need for the snide comments about not understanding what "normal" business activity entails.
So, you're saying that this is all unusual activity for companies that have been in business for years? That none of them usually have obsolete inventory, sales at a loss, development and/or tooling costs, and "many other events?"
I guess you can't help me after all, lol.
Now, with respect to gross margins. In the past they have been skewed with obsolete inventory, sales of products at perhaps a loss, possibly development and/or tooling costs added to the cost of goods, and many other events that do not represent a normal business activity.
What???
Could you elaborate on the "many other events that do not represent a normal business activity" for me?
I was always under the impression that all the items you mentioned were part of a "normal" business activity. Since I must have been wrong on that, I'd like to know what else does not represent a "normal" business activity.
Nope. That's the other one I was trying to think of earlier...

Janis works too!
works for me.
Missy - You're doing great! Just shy away from the geocities sources. You've got at least 2 other sources that I know will/should work for all, all the time.
FWIW - Very rarely have any of the Geocities sources worked for me...either trying to post a tune or play a tune someone else has posted from them. I don't even try to post one if I see it's from geocities. There's another one that rarely works for me either....can't think of the name, but tri-something comes to mind.
This has been documented on the TEST board ibox, at least regarding charts, and I assume it pertains to sounds also...
**Known problems: You can't post Geocities images. They don't allow remote linking.
Missy - Dragonslighting is a good source. All of 'em from there should work. At least they did for me.
Ksquared - Thanks, loved your reply....especially the part about my daughter, lol. Showed it to her, and she just got this knowing grin on her face for the longest time, lol.
As for cause of the stones, they're not sure, but Dr. told me this morn that cranberry juice is not good as it contains something that contributes to calcium build-up. As do calcium antacid pills. Most stones are calcium deposits. So, no more calcium pills reco'd by my primary care Dr. as a good sorce of calcium.
Pain is manageable now...know what signs to look for and take a couple motrin at the first sign. Pain is usually gone 15-20 minutes later.
Dr. said this morning it should be just a few more days. Hope he's right.
Both the boyfriend and I are looking at my dau with a slightly different view lately, lol.
Phil - Thanks! Sorry I took so long to acknowledge your post. Haven't been on the boards much lately, but am definitely handling it much better and feeling better too.
Hey, guy, don't be so sensitive! No wonder this board is on each other constantly.
It's ok to be misinformed/mistaken now and again...happens to everyone.
I wasn't trying to bash ya or put ya down, just doing what you were doing....passing on information.
More proof that no good deed goes unpunished, lol.
You have a good one too!

LOL! Thanks for the reminder.
Still trying to get it from the kidney to the bladder. I'll worry about THAT pain later.
This is day 13 of me trying to pass a 4-5mm kidney stone. Excruciating pain, so not on boards much, if at all, lately.
If I were to be around for suggestions on who to boot, I'd suggest one of DABOSS's multiple alias's.
I nominate 9miles for das boot.
ksquared - Thanks much for asking about me.
Trust me, not bopping anywhere, lol.
This is day 11 of trying to pass a nasty 4-5 mm stone that's had my name on it from day one, trying to inflict as much unrelenting, unbearable, agonizing pain on me as possible as it sloooowwly claws it's way into the bladder. It's personal now, lol.
Twice now I've opted for surgery to remove it, but.....
First time they were ready to do it right then and there at the urologists center until they discovered they could not use a general anesthesia due to my severe asthma and emphysema. Said it had to be done at a hospital, and couldn't get it scheduled for 3-4 days. So...back to doing it on my own.
Just back from urologist appt....had promised myself going in to tell him to schedule the surgery....but he talked me out of it, said x-rays showing it's made significant progress, it's very close to the end, etc. Since my urologist just left on 2 week Hawaiian vacation, I was seen by his son. The son has a MUCH better bedside manner, takes time to explain things, answer questions, seems to just give you the full 15 minutes instead of the usual 5 his dad does.
So, here I sit, being a general grump pain in the butt to my daughter, who's taken the time off work to be with me. Funny thing there is her boyfriend just had a 5mm stone a month ago. What are the odds of that?
Drinking water, water, Gaterade, water, juices, water, broth, water, going straight through me through the catheter.
Sucking down Motrin and Vicodin like candy just for the sake of going through the motions, I think, since they don't seem to have much effect on the pain. 3 doses of morphine at emergency 4-5 days ago calmed me down for a few hours though, lol.
Wish I'd kept notes, I'm sure there's a book in here somewhere, lol. Pain and painkillers are already making some things a bit fuzzy.
Hoping this makes sense.
Again, thanks!
Colt - Thanks for the welcome.
I usually don't post much, tend to ramble on too much when I do. Mostly content to listen and learn, but for some reason ksquared's posts about her house remind me of my childhood from about age 4 to about 9 on a farm in Minnesota, and later, in the country in Wisconsin. LOTS of good memories there.
I mean, can you imagine being turned loose all day by yourself to roam 160 acres of hilly farmland and forest at 7-8 years old with a single shot .22 rifle? No adults...no anyone...to supervise or keep watch on you?
Did you know that if you place a piece of straw against a frogs back and blow, air gets trapped between the frogs body and skin for a few minutes, and the frog cannot go under water? Make good moving targets when the blackbirds are not around, lol.
Driving a team of horses, again, by yourself, with no one else around, pulling a loaded haywagon from one farm to another?
Or driving one of several different tractors for just about anything it's used for on a farm?
It's a kidney stone I'm trying to pass....don't have the foggiest idea why I called it a gallstone in my earlier posts.
I really hope I can pass it naturally, as the alternatives are not sounding too appealing to me at all, lol.
Rambling again....
ksquared - Need to move this off the politics board...understand they get a little touchy there sometimes.
Hope ya'll don't mind me bringing it here, even though it doesn't have much to do with the outdoors either.
Been lurking for a while now...looking forward to your descriptive, interesting posts. Almost feel I know you a little, and maybe even a little jealous of the other guys here.
Anyway, wanted to thank you for your "condolences" on my passing the gallstone, but need to clear that up a bit.
Don't know what I was thinking when I posted that. It's a kidney stone, not a gallstone, and it hasn't actually passed yet. In fact, I think it's still trying to get from the kidney to the bladder.
But I did spend almost 10 hours in the emergency room, freezing my tail off while being poked, prodded, blood samples taken, x-rays, a cat scan, and all in one of those silly hospital gowns, lol. Seemed like it was 50-60 degrees in there, and cold hard steel (I think) for the x-ray machine.
And would you believe...from the time my daughter drove me to the hospital, until we got back home, not one bit of pain! Felt almost embarrassed to be there, even thought the c-scan did show the stone almost to the bladder.
Plenty of pain before and after though, and "ouch" does not begin to describe it, lol.
It's been compared to child-birth, and if so, I cannot understand why any woman would go through that more than once, lol. Even with Motrin and Vicodin, the pain is almost unbearably relentless.
Thanks again for your thoughts.
$2.02 per gallon here in central California this morning.
Noticed it just now on the way home from 10 hours in the emergency room passing a gallstone. Need to fill up, but just want to sleep a bit first, lol.
Prolly go up while I'm trying to catch some zzzzz's.
Man, this getting old is getting old already! LOL.
