IQST - iQSTEL Announces CEO Shareholder Letter Discussing Revenue Growth And Capital Structure Improvements
NEW YORK, Jan. 19, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- iQSTEL, Inc. (USOTC: IQST) today published a letter from the company CEO, Leandro Jose Iglesias, to shareholders. The letter is included in its entirety, below:
SHAREHOLDER LETTER
January 19th, 2021
Dear Shareholders,
While 2020 was marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, with the closure of companies and countries completely paralyzed, iQSTEL was able to advance in the development of its business plan, reaching a $44.8 Million Preliminary Revenue Benchmark for FY-2020, and having a $60.5 Million Forecast Revenue for FY-2021. This was made possible by having a clearly defined vision and execution plan.
In the course of 2020, we incorporated three new subsidiaries into our business, with the acquisition of Qglobal, LLC and IoT Labs, LLC, and the creation of Global Money One, LLC. These three new companies, combined with our existing subsidiaries (Etelix, SwissLink and ItsBchain) create a portfolio of products and services well beyond just in the telecom arena.
We have also diversified our sources of revenue. Until 2019, 100% of the revenue came from the VoIP wholesale services business. That changed in 2020 where only 44% of our revenue came from VoIP wholesale services and 56% came from SMS services. Revenue diversification is a fundamental part of our business plan, and we expect this to continue in 2021 with:
The successful launch of the Internet of Things (IoT) products, where we recently won the IoT Breakthrough Award as the "Appliance of the Year".
Our entry into the Fintech arena with the release of our Visa Debit Card services through the recent agreement we signed with DTone, which also allows us to manage international remittances and top up off mobile services in 42 countries across the World.
We are focused on a continuous process of value creation for our shareholders, customers, suppliers, and employees. In this sense, our business plan includes gathering all the elements that will allow us to complete a future up-listing to a national exchange.
With that purpose in mind, we have been working on improving our balance sheet. Recently, we announced the discharge of all convertible notes and warrants, and a 48% reduction in total debt. This will be reflected in our first quarter of 2021 financial report.
To mitigate future dilution over the next three years, the company is alternatively pursuing a Reg A registered fund-raising strategy to avoid the potential need of requiring convertible notes or other forms of toxic financing. For this reason, the company summited to the SEC an extension for selling 56 Million shares within the Reg A offering statement (originally qualified by the SEC in December 2019).
At the time the Company submitted the Reg A extension, the 10 cents per share price seemed appropriate. Since then, we have seen a market reaction to recent business progress and a corresponding share price increase in turn closing the gap between our business value and our market cap.
Here is a recap on the most relevant milestones over the previous three months:
1) Signing of a LOI with ALTERNET (ALYI) to develop an IoT Smart EV device to enter the Electric Vehicles Supply Market (Technology Division).
2) Signing of a MOU with PayVMS and the incorporation of a new subsidiary, Global Money One, for the development of our Visa Debit Card (Fintech Division).
3) Execution of the Agreement with DTone for the International Remittance and Top Up Mobile services worldwide. These services will be available through our Visa Debit Card user (Fintech Division).
4) Our Telecom Business surpassed $5 million in monthly revenue for three consecutive months, setting Monthly and Quarterly Revenue Records (Telecom Division).
5) Our IoT Smart Gas winning the "Appliance of the Year" (Technology Division) award as an IoT Breakthrough.
Me too...Good luck to both of us...
Well, this guy pretty much predicted what was going to happen today...Go to the 8:45 mark...

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and two other Democratic senators said that they will push to pass this year sweeping legislation that would end the federal prohibition on marijuana.
Pot has been legalized to some degree by many states. "The War on Drugs has been a war on people — particularly people of color," said a statement issued by Schumer, of New York, and Sens. Cory Booker, of New Jersey, and Ron Wyden, of Oregon.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and two other Democratic senators said Monday that they will push to pass this year sweeping legislation that would end the federal prohibition on marijuana, which has been legalized to some degree by many states.
That reform also would provide so-called restorative justice for people who have been convicted of pot-related crimes, the senators said in a joint statement.
"The War on Drugs has been a war on people — particularly people of color," said a statement issued by Schumer, of New York, and Sens. Cory Booker, of New Jersey, and Ron Wyden, of Oregon.
"Ending the federal marijuana prohibition is necessary to right the wrongs of this failed war and end decades of harm inflicted on communities of color across the country," they said.
"But that alone is not enough. As states continue to legalize marijuana, we must also enact measures that will lift up people who were unfairly targeted in the War on Drugs."
The senators said they will release "a unified discussion draft on comprehensive reform" early this year and that passing the legislation will be a priority for the Senate.
The trio also said that in addition to ending the federal pot ban and ensuring restorative justice, the legislation would "protect public health and implement responsible taxes and regulations."
Schumer co-sponsored marijuana decriminalization legislation several years ago.
The statement comes as public support for legal marijuana has grown. A Gallup poll in November showed that 68% of Americans, a record high, favored marijuana legalization.
Every initiative that involved the decriminalization or legalization of marijuana on the ballot in 2020 passed.
Voters in New Jersey and Arizona chose to legalize marijuana for adult recreational use. Mississippi voted to legalize medical marijuana use, and South Dakota legalized the drug for both recreational and medical use.
So far, 15 states and the District of Columbia have legalized marijuana for adult recreational use, and 36 states permit medical use of the drug

Cannabis got a big win in Congress, but legal weed isn't around the corner
By Alicia Wallace, CNN Business
Updated 6:53 PM EST, Fri December 04, 2020
San Francisco(CNN Business)Cannabis just had a victory in Congress. But the industry and its supporters may not want to get too excited just yet.
The US House of Representatives on Friday passed a bill to end the federal prohibition on cannabis. But the historic vote on the landmark legislation -- which if put into law would be momentous for the emerging multibillion-dollar cannabis industry and broader social justice movements -- ultimately is largely symbolic.
Four more states just legalized recreational weed. Here's how long you'll have to wait to buy it
Four more states just legalized recreational weed. Here's how long you'll have to wait to buy it
For now, the House is likely to be the last stop on the line for the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act of 2019 (MORE Act), which would effectively legalize cannabis by removing marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act and creating a shared federal-state control of cannabis programs -- although it does not force states to legalize. The bill also would reduce barriers to research, solve current banking and tax woes, expunge some cannabis offenses and further diversify efforts in the industry.
Although public sentiment for cannabis legalization has grown, not all in Congress -- notably Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell -- feel the same.
"I would give it less than a snowball's chance of passage in the Senate," said drug policy expert John Hudak, the deputy director of the Center for Effective Public Management at the Brookings Institution think tank.

Any bill not signed into law by the time Congress adjourns on January 3 will have to be reintroduced, so that most likely will be the fate for the MORE Act or any other prominent cannabis-centric legislation, said Jodi Avergun, a former US Drug Enforcement Administration chief of staff who is now a partner at Cadwalader and chair of the law firm's white collar defense and investigations group.
"In my view, more than anything, the House wanted to show the incoming Biden administration that it is serious about cannabis reform and that it expects the administration to advance the ball on legalization or descheduling," Avergun told CNN Business. "Folks were disappointed that Biden's transition documents did not reiterate the cannabis loosening pledges he made during the campaign. Maybe this is a subtle statement that the House did not forget what Biden had promised during the campaign."
However, while industry advocates hailed the passage of the bill, not all were pleased with some last-minute revisions that they say watered down the criminal justice and social equity provisions of the bill, including narrowing where tax dollars can be appropriated and who would be eligible for records expungement, said Maritza Perez, director of the office of national affairs at the Drug Policy Alliance.
"While we recognize and celebrate the historic nature of today's vote, we know we need to put in significant work in the next Congress to build a bill that fully aligns with our principles," she said in a statement.
Moving by inches
Still, Friday's action is considered a significant win for both legalization advocates and the advancement of the legal cannabis industry.
It also was the first time that a chamber of Congress has voted on a standalone cannabis bill.
"We move by inches," Chris Walsh, CEO and president of industry trade publication Marijuana Business Daily, said in an interview. "Each inch is significant in an of itself, but they have to add up together before you get to the big win."
While the federal needle may be advancing tick by tick, at the state level the cannabis industry has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years -- and 2020 has certainly been a significant one for the industry.
In the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic, cannabis businesses were deemed "essential" in many states and allowed to stay open to serve medical patients and recreational customers. Sales continued to climb and set new records in mature markets such as Colorado.
In November, cannabis legalization measures succeeded in a clean sweep at the ballot box, with voters approving recreational cannabis proposals in Arizona, Montana, New Jersey and South Dakota and medical cannabis measures in South Dakota and Mississippi. Now, all but three US states have legalized the medical use of cannabis and 15 states have passed adult-use measures.
The US cannabis industry is expected to post north of $19 billion in sales this year, according to projections from the Brightfield Group, a cannabis industry market research firm.
It's a far cry from eight years ago when only 18 states had medical marijuana laws in place, voters in Colorado and Washington state were the first to OK recreational cannabis programs, and CBD and edibles were not part of the common lexicon.
"When you've got a growing number of states going green in some way or another, that's what pushes federal change," said Walsh, of Marijuana Business Daily.
Earlier this week, the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs removed cannabis from its schedule of dangerous drugs, a move that could accelerate global medical cannabis research and legalization efforts. That decision could affect how the US DEA approaches cannabis, Avergun said.

House set to vote Friday on bill to legalize marijuana

The House will vote Friday on a measure that would decriminalize marijuana use at the federal level, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said Wednesday.
Lawmakers will begin debating the measure on Thursday and will vote on it Friday, the Maryland Democrat said.
The bill would remove marijuana from the list of illegal drugs under the federal Controlled Substances Act and would end criminal penalties for growing, distributing, or possessing marijuana.
Democratic leaders initially planned to bring up the bill for a vote in September but postponed consideration after some Democrats objected to the measure taking up floor time ahead of the election.
Story continues below
The bill would implement a process to review sentences and expunge convictions for marijuana offenses and would bar the denial of federal benefits for those convicted of marijuana-related offenses.
The legislation would create a 5% federal tax on all cannabis products.
The bill would follow in the footsteps of 15 states, so far, that have legalized the recreational use of marijuana. Other states have lowered penalties and legalized the medical use of the drug.
The House measure was introduced last year by Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, a New York Democrat who believes the criminalization of marijuana unfairly targets poor and minority groups.
“The hysteria around marijuana is starting to lift as states across the country lead the way in reforming their marijuana laws,” Nadler said in a statement about the bill. “It is time for the federal government to follow suit.”
Republicans have criticized the Democratic majority for prioritizing the legislation in the final days of Congress when both parties are struggling to pass a critical coronavirus relief bill.
“Are Democrats comfortable with Speaker Pelosi prioritizing pot over paychecks?” Mark Bednar, a spokesman for House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, said in an email to reporters this week

PayPal announced today it’s dropping the waitlist to buy, hold and sell cryptocurrency in the U.S. With the move, all customers in the U.S. will be able to purchase cryptocurrency directly from within their PayPal accounts. U.S. customers will also be alerted to the new feature through both an email and a push notification in the coming days, the company says.
The feature was already partially available in the U.S. before today, but PayPal had been onboarding interested customers via a waitlist. With the update, users will no longer have to wait for a spot to open.
In addition, PayPal says that due to initial demand from its customers, it’s increasing its weekly cryptocurrency purchase limit from $10,000 per week to $20,000 per week.
In October, PayPal had first announced its plans to enter the cryptocurrency market by way of a partnership with cryptocurrency company Paxos. This partner helps to power the new service for PayPal, enabling its customers to buy, sell and hold a range of cryptocurrencies — initially including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin.
By next year, PayPal plans to allow users to make PayPal purchases with cryptocurrencies as well, the company has said.
In terms of exchange rates, PayPal will charge $0.50 USD on transactions up to $24.99 USD, 2.3% on transactions from $25 to $100 USD; 2% on transactions from $100.01 to $200 USD; $1.8% on transactions of $200.01 to $1,000 USD; and 1.5% on transactions over $1,000 USD.
PayPal notes there are no fees for holding crypto in your account. And, to get things started, PayPal is waiving fees until 2021.
The company somewhat quietly disclosed the news today via an update to last month’s press release. It says users can download the PayPal app or log in to their PayPal account to learn more

Electric Vehicle stocks continue to set record highs as sales set new records every month. TSLA, SOLO, NKLA, NIO, WKHS, BLNK have been leading the way and now Alternet Systems, Inc. (ALYI; OTC) announces they are getting closer to production of their multi-passenger 3 wheel Revolt Electric Motorcycle designed for giant ride share market where a lower cost and more efficient vehicle can be used to transport the majority of ride share passengers requiring only one seat at a time.
Alternet Systems, Inc. just introduced MODUS, the engineering and design partner leading ALYI's electric mobility innovations. MODUS comes with more than 20 years of experience and over 200 patentable claims and referenceable experience with many industry household brand names to include Malibu Boats, Peterbilt and Corning, to name only a few.
www.modusai.com
After initially building a pilot electric motorcycle on a classic BMW R71 clone, ALYI engaged MODUS to bring the pilot into production and begin the design of future electric vehicle platforms.
Below is an overview from MODUS co-founder Maro Radenovic on their work with ALYI:
MODUS Applied Innovations
MODUS is a multi-disciplinary product development firm with a focus on strategic innovation, creative design, and precision engineering. Our areas of expertise range from consumer goods to transportation, aerospace to medical devices, and beyond. We are a new firm coming together contemporaneously with the ReVolt Electric Motorcycle initiative but bringing with us over 20 years of experience, more than 200 patentable claims and referenceable experience with many industry household brand names to include Malibu Boats, Peterbilt and Corning, to name only a few.
All on their own, ALYI piloted an electric motorcycle that in its first rendition was a BMW R71 clone retrofitted with an electric motor. The BMW R71 is a breathtaking iconic image popularized through decades of frequent Hollywood screen appearances in addition to the real engineering breakthroughs that maintain the bike's relevance.
ALYI came to us to productionalize their pilot and design the idea of a maximum occupancy, affordable, rugged, long-range, electric motorcycle with a retro aesthetic into the future. On the surface, as designers and engineers, we both loved the concept and at the same time, quickly recognized the rational market opportunity ALYI was targeting.
As all likely know, ALYI's initial target is the motorcycle taxi market in Africa. The African motorcycle taxi market is a widely accepted mode of transportation locally referred to as boda boda. Financial margin opportunities for boda boda operators are thin allowing much room for the entry of a vehicle that can improve profits for operators above and beyond the obvious environmental benefits garnered from an electric vehicle.
Furthermore, the vast majority of the boda boda motorcycles are produced off continent further increasing operational expenses and depriving the local economy of the economic benefit that could be derived though local production.
Boda boda operators tend to compete for customers by attempting to outdo each other with the customization of their vehicles. ALYI's retro design based on the globally recognized BMW R71 introduces a compelling new customization vector.
ALYI's electric mobility vision extends far beyond the initial ReVolt Electric Motorcycle initiative. Rather than defining a set line of products, ALYI's electric mobility vision is built on defining a process for coordinating the evolution of electric mobility design where future products result from the process instead of a process being forced upon an arbitrarily defined product.
We believe in the iterative design process and are confident our expertise and experience can serve a vital role in the management of ALYI's electric mobility evolutionary vision. At our request, we have engaged with ALYI in an equity relationship and are enthusiastic about becoming long-term participants in the ALYI electric mobility ecosystem.
BMW R71 And Beyond
It appears the Ural Motorcycle company attempted to beat ReVolt to the punch on introducing an electric motorcycle based on the BMW R71. Ural already produces a combustion engine motorcycle reminiscent of the BMW R71 and after ReVolt announced its BMW R71 clone conversion initiative, Ural quickly brought an electric version of their own to a trade show. However, no electric Ural is for sale today that we have found.
That's probably because the Ural bike, while rugged and robust, weighs 700 lbs. The BMW R71 is surely durable and has a compelling retro aesthetic, but it's not the best platform in the long-term, at least not in it its raw format, for a commercial electric motorcycle.
Electric vehicle design should start with a white board. Vehicle design before the advent of electric vehicles has followed a consistent evolutionary path for over a century now, and that path needs to end so a new one can begin.
It is time to rethink what an electric vehicle is, and how it integrates into the world at large. Vehicles no longer need be designed around an internal combustion engine and a fuel tank. Electric motors and power sources need not be confined to traditional design restrictions. Electric vehicle design is less complex than internal combustion vehicle providing for more flexibility and new opportunity.
When we came to the ReVolt project, we identified a fork opportunity in the project path. In one direction we pursued the refinement of ALYI's original BMW R71 clone design. In the other direction we initiated the ongoing future design process for the ReVolt maximum occupancy, affordable, rugged, long-range, electric motorcycle with a retro aesthetic.
The ReVolt for the African boda boda market will ultimately be an entirely new electric motorcycle reflecting the retro BMW R71 aesthetic designed with interchangeable modular components that provide operators with both a diverse range of economic engagement opportunities and customization options.
The boda boda ReVolt production motorcycle will provide operators the opportunity to own the motorcycle frame while selecting from a range of modular components to bolt onto the frame that can be leased or purchased. The modularity facilitates customization and the leasing aspect reduces the upfront expense required to get into operation. The leasing option also enables rapid adoption of future technological advances.
But fear not, the BMW R71 electric clone will live on. In respect to ALYI's roots and retro brand, U.S. motorcycle enthusiasts will be able to purchase converted BMW R71 clones or conversion kits to electrify on their own BMW R71 clones.
Ongoing EV Design
Electric vehicles (EV) require less airflow with no requirement to cool an internal combustion engine. With reduce grill requirements, opportunities for aerodynamic efficiencies improve and will be needed to compensate for battery life challenges.
With a strong demand for connectivity, software and user interfaces become an important aspect of EV design. With the reduced complexity of EV design compared to internal combustion engine design comes a reduced need for switches, buttons and gauges. EV interiors and exteriors are likely to change dramatically from what we are currently familiar with in internal combustion vehicles.
Purchase paradigms will also change. EV systems are likely to be engaged in components rather than as a whole. Batteries and motors may well be leased or purchase separately from EV frames.
Government standards for EV's will impact design. Safety will certainly be one area of regulatory impact but what about battery management?
Today, we are exploring opportunities with Samsung SDI and Gegadyne for battery solutions as well as with ALYI's own in house battery research initiatives. Battery and fuel cell technology is rapidly advancing. So, it is important to compartmentalize power sources for future adoption into pre-existing EV designs.
Our experience with the ReVolt Electric Motorcycle is being codified into our future EV design process and integrated into ALYI's overall electric mobility design eco-system.
The ReVolt Electric Motorcycle is just the starting place for ALYI's long-term electric mobility vision. Instead of designing specific future products in an isolated lab, ALYI has designed a process to bring a community of stakeholders together with ALYI's own design team to collectively contribute to the future of electric mobility in Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond.
To motivate and inspire collaboration in a rational electric mobility evolutionary process, ALYI has architected an annual electric mobility symposium and conference around an electric auto race as an anchor event. The annual event will generate revenue contributing to the local economy, at the same time contributing to the evolutionary development of future electric mobility innovations. The expense of research and development will at least be offset by revenue from the annual event and potentially, research and development may become a profit center.
We cannot tell you how excited we are to participate in the electric auto race event and corresponding design process. We know you will understand and share our enthusiasm as you learn more through future announcements.

ALYI Publishes Management Update - Electric Vehicle Races - Electric Motorcycle Design - RevoltTOKEN ICO
10:33 AM ET 10/28/20 | Dow Jones
Dallas, Texas--(Newsfile Corp. - October 28, 2020) - Alternet Systems, Inc. (OTC Pink: ALYI) today announced a comprehensive management update highlighting the company's latest progress with the electric vehicle race to be the anchor event in an annual electric mobility symposium; the introduction of an additional new electric motorcycle design path, and the status of RevoltTOKEN's pending Initial Cryptocurrency Offering (ICO). The update is included in its entirety below.
ALYI Management Update
We have our heads down, working diligently, making tremendous strides of late advancing our electric mobility ecosystem vision that we are eager to share here today. We are working closely with our RevoltTOKEN funding partner and are also sharing RevoltTOKEN updates here today as well.
The ALYI electric mobility ecosystem vision is centered around introducing an annual industry wide symposium in Kenya to bring commercial and academic resources together that combine design and engineering expertise to create an original electric mobility future, not one based on merely reengineering combustion engine transportation. With low per capita transpiration saturation, Africa is the ideal location for pursuing an original electric mobility future. In North America, electric vehicle adoption requires consumers to replace an existing mode of transportation while in Africa, consumers are more likely to be engaging a transportation solution for the first time.
The ALYI annual symposium centric electric mobility ecosystem vision is intended to be anchored by a globally recognized electric vehicle race event. ALYI recently announced a major multiparty milestone agreement and that agreement specifically pertains to the target electric vehicle race event. The agreement has been in the works for years and management is elated to achieve this recent milestone and grateful to its partners party to the agreement. The agreement represents the cooperation of government and commercial participants on multiple continents that in addition to juggling the usual challenges of such an agreement, had the added difficulties of accommodating COVID-19 impacts to operations.
The agreement is confidential at this time and disclosure requires the mutual agreement of all parties involved. We are at work drafting a release that will sufficiently and fairly highlight the contributions and opportunities for all involved. We look forward to a release coming soon.
To accelerate ALYI's electric mobility ecosystem vision, ALYI has launched an electric motorcycle manufacturing initiative. The ALYI ReVolt Electric Motorcycle was conceived on the pilot electrification of a BMW R71 clone. Since the original pilot motorcycle, the ALYI design team has introduce two additional design paths. The company will produce an electric sleek retro style BMW R71 clone (www.revoltmotorbikes.com) and a conversion kit for do-it-yourselfers to electrify their own BMW R71 or R71 clone. ALYI's second design path leads to an electric motorcycle to be produced immediately to specifically support an Uber and Lyft type transportation solution evolving the African motorcycle taxi (Boda) market. ALYI's design team has now launched a third design path to develop a paradigm changing, state-of-the-art electric motorcycle. Look for more news soon on the third design path.
ALYI's funding partner, RevoltTOKEN (www.revolttoken.com) has committed to funding ALYI's electric mobility ecosystem vision through independently launching an Initial Cryptocurrency Offering (ICO) to raise $100 million. RevoltTOKEN has already created a token (see RevoltTOKEN website) and plans to immediately make the token available through an ICO once finalizing all regulatory prerequisites. RevoltTOKEN recently elected to domicile in Bermuda and expects all registration and licensing requirements in Bermuda to be complete soon clearing the way for the launch of the RevoltTOKEN ICO. In the meantime, RevoltTOKEN continues to make pre-ICO funds available for ALYI to continue advancing its business plan.

Good news for Cryptocurrencies...
Reuters
WED OCT 21, 2020 / 11:22 AM EDT
PayPal to open up network to cryptocurrencies
Anna Irrera and Tom Wilson
LONDON (Reuters) - PayPal Holdings Inc (PYPL.O) said on Wednesday it will allow customers to hold bitcoin and other virtual coins in its online wallet and shop using cryptocurrencies at the 26 million merchants on its network.
The new service makes PayPal one of the largest U.S. companies to provide consumers access to cryptocurrencies, which could help bitcoin and rival cryptocurrencies gain wider adoption as viable payment methods.
The San Jose, California-based company hopes the service will encourage global use of virtual coins and prepare its network for new digital currencies that central banks and companies may develop, President and Chief Executive Dan Schulman said in an interview.
"We are working with central banks and thinking of all forms of digital currencies and how PayPal can play a role," he said.
U.S. account holders will be able to buy, sell and hold cryptocurrencies in their PayPal wallets over the coming weeks, the company said. PayPal plans to expand the service to its peer-to-peer payment app Venmo and some other countries in the first half of 2021.
The ability to make payments with cryptocurrencies will be available from early next year, the company said.
Other mainstream fintech companies, such as mobile payments provider Square Inc (SQ.N) and stock trading app firm Robinhood Markets Inc, allow users to buy and sell cryptocurrencies, but PayPal's launch is noteworthy given its size.
The company has 346 million active accounts around the world and processed $222 billion in payments in the second quarter.
PayPal's shares were up 4% at 1418 GMT, set for their best day in a month.
Bitcoin BTC=BTSP hit its highest since July 2019 on the news. It was last up 4.8% at $12,494, taking gains for the original and biggest cryptocurrency above 75% for the year. Cryptocurrency market players said the size of PayPal meant the move would be a plus for bitcoin prices. "The price impact will be positive overall," Joseph Edwards of Enigma Securities, a cryptocurrency brokerage in London, said. "There's no comparison with regards to the potential exposure between the upside of PayPal offering this, and the upside of any similar previous offering."
VOLATILITY
Bitcoin and other virtual coins have struggled to become established as widely used forms of payment despite being around for more than a decade. Cryptocurrencies' volatility is attractive for speculators, but poses risks for merchants and shoppers. Transactions are also slower and more costly than other mainstream payment systems.
Photo
FILE PHOTO: The German headquarters of the electronic payments division PayPal is pictured at Europarc Dreilinden business park south of Berlin in Kleinmachnow, Germany, August 6, 2019.
REUTERS/FABRIZIO BENSCH
PayPal believes its new system will address these issues as payments will be settled using traditional currencies, such as the U.S. dollar. This means PayPal will be managing the risk of price fluctuations and merchants will receive payments in virtual coins.
"We are going about it in a fundamentally different way to make sure we provide the maximum amount of safety to our merchants," Schulman said.
PayPal's service comes as some central banks have announced plans to develop digital versions of their currencies, following a Facebook-led (FB.O) cryptocurrency project Libra in 2019, which was met by strong regulatory pushback..
PayPal was among the founding members of this project but dropped out after a few months.
PayPal has secured the first conditional cryptocurrency licence from the New York State Department of Financial Services. The company will initially allow purchases of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies called ethereum ETH=BTSP, bitcoin cash BCH=BTSP and litecoin LTC=BTSP, it said.
PayPal is teaming up with cryptocurrency firm Paxos Trust Company to offer the service.

Cheapest Tech Stock To Get 5x Returns: Alternet Systems (ALYI)
October 18, 2020 Asan Abdiev
A month ago Alternet Systems (OTC: ALYI) was on the headlines of financial news with plans and ambitions to develop high-quality infrastructure for EVs quickly. Several diverse plans were introduced along with the Retro ReVolt electric motorcycle that has a design of Harley-Davidson models. Being a pro in the IT industry opened a huge gate to different revenue sources for the company and the EV niche is the right one according to their expectations.
On Friday, ALYI grew 6.07% to 0.0125, thanks to trading 56,884,154 shares within that day. The extremely cheapest stock with a promising future doesn’t leave anyone staying at bay while it is possibly a highlighted target for big whales. Anytime ALYI has the capability to soar more than 200% a day.
The upcoming week is likely to give another media update from Alternet Systems as the EV market has many segments to develop. Especially, charging stations are the main part of the wide EV map while electric motorcycles have been used as secondary transport in the West. Eastern markets need Retro ReVolt lineups amid high demand from the poor and middle classes.

Time will tell... Wink
That's like saying the major car manufacturers in the U.S. shouldn't brother making electric cars, because Tesla already produces them here...I'd say their research disagrees with you...What percentage of the people that bought motorcycles in the U.S. last year would have preferred an electric motorcycle has yet to be seen...But even a small percentage could make things very interesting...
Estimated U.S. motorcycle sales in 2019, by type(in units)
Number of motorcycles sold
On-highway 300,814
Off-highway 100,186
Dual sport 46,117

The gas tank for battery storage makes sense, but think sidecar...Plenty of room for extra battery storage there...Think sidecar...
Interesting...Very interesting...
