Testing Begins for KIND(TM) Laundry Products in Vending Machines
2/7/2008
Laundromats and Other Settings Targeted for Special Dispensable Bottle Sizes
BARRIE, ON, Feb 07, 2008 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX News Network) --
Winning Brands Corporation (PINKSHEETS: WNBD) (FRANKFURT: WMU) www.WinningBrands.ca reports that field evaluations have now commenced for its new KIND(TM) Laundry Products line in settings where laundry products are currently sold by vending machine or can be sold by vending machines. The new class of sizes is illustrated by the rectangular 5-6 fl.oz. package range shown in the photo. Industry watchers have speculated whether Winning Brands will approach the laundry detergent sector as a niche brand or mainstream. Snr VP Lorne Kelly says that nothing prevents KIND(TM) laundry products from becoming a favourite in any households that discover the friendly new brand; "We are not confined to settings where people are already looking for green products -- we are going to go out there to be available where people shop for laundry products in general, even including Laundromats."
An evaluation relationship has been established with a leading manufacturer in the vending machine sector and real-world tests will now be applied to performance of the packages, distributor supply chain delivery details and confirming final consumer response. The purpose of this final pre-launch stage for the KIND(TM) vending machine SKU variant is to identify and remove obstacles to commercial order volumes for this size range, estimated to be in standard batches of 166,000 bottles per run. The retail value of each such batch in consumers' hands is approximately $500,000. It is estimated that existing vending machine small-dose package sales in powder and liquid form for all brands is between 50-100 million units per year. Final production of KIND(TM) will take place at the Grand Rapids, Michigan facilities of Surefil LLC where the most recent additions to the plant have increased capacity for its brand partners to a new threshold of 75 million units per year.
Winning Brands CEO, Eric Lehner, points out that a systematic approach is what Winning Brands prefers. "We make this announcement because the testing phase is the last one before implementation. The program commitment is now in place for this initiative to become a reality."

Deep Down Inc.(OTCBB: DPDW, http://www.marketwatch.com/quotes/dpdw )
Deep Down, Inc. Ships Three BS Latchers
Last update: 1:41 p.m. EST Jan. 30, 2008
HOUSTON, Jan 30, 2008 -- Deep Down, Inc. announced today that three Bend Stiffener ("BS") Latchers, for the BC-10 project, were shipped to Singapore. These BS Latchers will be installed on the Client's Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessel ("FPSO") which will be bound for Brazil upon its completion. An FPSO is a type of floating tank system used by the offshore oil and gas industry. It is designed to receive oil or gas produced from a nearby platform(s) and store it until the oil or gas can be offloaded onto waiting tankers, or sent through a pipeline.
The BS Latcher is a proprietary Deep Down design which offers its clients significant cost savings as compared to many of its competitors' products. These cost savings arise principally out of the unique quick-release and locking mechanism which can be engaged by a single ROV without any need for divers for any phase of its deployment. As bend stiffeners get larger and heavier, it is also important to note that the bend stiffener can be carried behind the bullnose of the Deep Down BS Latcher and engaged into the mating bellmouth quickly and efficiently. Upon completion, the bend stiffener can be released to allow the bullnose and umbilical to be pulled up through the remaining length of the I-tube and hung off at the topside hang-off flange.
"The Deep Down design has handled high load transfers for very high bending moments of up to 350,000 foot pounds. As umbilicals, and attached bend stiffeners, are subjected to higher cyclic loading in ultra deepwater developments, these bending moments will increase. Our BS Latchers can be engineered and designed to handle these ever-increasing loads and bending moments. It is gratifying that our client has chosen to use our services in an international installation in Singapore on their very first owned FPSO, which is to be operated in their very first development in Brazil," says Ronald E. Smith, President & CEO of Deep Down. "We continue to strive to engineer innovative solutions to save our clients time and money in the continuing search for oil and gas reserves," he concluded.
About Deep Down, Inc.
Deep Down specializes in the provision of innovative solutions, installation management, engineering services, support services, custom fabrication and storage management services for the offshore subsea control, umbilical, and pipeline industries. The company fabricates component parts of subsea distribution systems and assemblies that specialize in the development of subsea fields and tie backs. These items include umbilicals, flow lines, distribution systems, pipeline terminations, controls, winches, and launch and retrieval systems, among others. Deep Down provides these services from the initial field conception phase, through manufacturing, site integration testing, installation, topside connections, and the final commissioning of a project.
The Company's ElectroWave subsidiary offers products and services in the fields of electronic monitoring and control systems for the energy, military, and commercial business sectors. ElectroWave designs, manufactures, installs, and commissions integrated PLC and SCADA based instrumentation and control systems, including ballast control and monitoring, drilling instrumentation, vessel management systems, marine advisory systems, machinery plant control and monitoring systems, and closed circuit television systems.
The Company's Mako subsidiary serves the growing offshore petroleum and marine industries with technical support services, and products vital to offshore petroleum production, through rentals of its remotely operated vehicles (ROV), topside and subsea equipment, and diving support systems used in diving operations, maintenance and repair operations, offshore construction, and environmental/marine surveys.
The Company's strategy is to consolidate service providers to the offshore industry, as well as designers and manufacturers of subsea, surface, and offshore rig equipment used by major, independent, and foreign national oil and gas companies in deep-water exploration and production of oil and gas throughout the world. Deep Down's customers include BP Petroleum, Royal Dutch Shell, Exxon Mobil Corporation, Devon Energy Corporation, Chevron Corporation, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Marathon Oil Corporation, Kerr-McGee Corporation, Nexen Inc., BHP, Amerada Hess, Helix, Oceaneering International, Inc., Subsea 7, Inc., Transocean Offshore, Diamond Offshore, Marinette Marine Corporation, Acergy, Veolia Environmental Services, Noble Energy Inc., Aker Kvaerner, Cameron, Oil States, Dril-Quip, Inc., Nexans, Cabett, JDR, and Duco, among others. Coca-Cola buys 40 percent of Honest Tea
2/6/2008
NEW YORK, Feb 6, 2008 (UPI via COMTEX News Network) --
Coca-Cola Co. purchased 40 percent of Honest Tea for $43 million and holds an option to buy the company outright in three years, it was reported Wednesday.
Coke, through its Venturing and Emerging Brands unit, which it formed in 2007, "is working very hard to build up its portfolio of non-carbonated brands," John Sicher, editor of Beverage Digest, told USA Today.
Coke spent $4.1 billion purchasing Vitiminwater last May. The company has also purchased Fuze drinks and Brain Twist, a bottled coffee brand, the report said.
Industry trends indicate declines in carbonated beverages consumption in recent years -- down 6 percent for the first nine months of 2007. Sales at Honest Tea, a 10-year old company featuring organic teas, increased 70 percent in 2007 over its 2006 sales and bottled tea sales in general rose 24 percent for the first three quarters of 2007.
Honest Tea, with headquarters in Bethesda, Md., adds both low-calorie and organic products to Coke's standard offerings, USA Today said.

TOMO 16.43 UP .86- TomoTherapy Produces 200th Hi-Art(R) Treatment System
2/6/2008
Leading Italian Hospital to Install Milestone Unit and Expand
Radiation Therapy Offerings
MADISON, Wis., Feb 06, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
TomoTherapy Incorporated (NASDAQ:TOMO) today announced that it has completed production of its 200th TomoTherapy(R) Hi-Art(R) treatment system. The unit will be shipped to the Santa Maria Nuova (SMN) hospital in Reggio Emilia, Italy. The hospital, which became Italy's first to use intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) in 2001, cited innovative system design, higher quality patient treatments and expanded clinical capabilities as reasons for its Hi-Art purchase decision.
"The purchase of a TomoTherapy Hi-Art radiation therapy system is a major investment that demonstrates the Santa Maria Nuova hospital's leadership in the field of high technologies applied to patient care," said Ivan Trenti, general director of the SMN hospital.
Iva Manghi, MD, health managing director of the SMN hospital, added: "With the introduction of the most innovative technologies in the field of oncology, we continue a rapid transformation of our hospital, where applied clinical research is becoming increasingly necessary and crucial."
"We have a great deal of experience using IMRT," said Luciano Armaroli, MD, medical director of the radiotherapy department at the SMN hospital. "The Hi-Art treatment system will let us apply this experience in new ways, with real benefits for our patients."
Marta Paiusco, medical physicist for the hospital, added: "With TomoTherapy, we can significantly enhance our IMRT deliveries. We gain daily, CT-based image guidance to ensure the accuracy of treatments and a multi-rotational, helical IMRT delivery pattern to achieve superior dose distributions and normal tissue sparing."
"TomoTherapy, by design, allows us to explore new opportunities such as simultaneous treatment of multiple metastases, adaptive radiation therapy and hypofractionated treatment regimens," said Cinzia Iotti, MD, radiation oncologist responsible for the intensity-modulated radiation therapy at the SMN hospital.
Adaptive radiation therapy (ART) involves changing a treatment plan between treatment sessions based on quantitative feedback gathered from efficient daily CT imaging, Hypofractionation involves the delivery of higher doses of radiation in fewer fractions than are used in conventional radiation therapy. The TomoTherapy Hi-Art treatment system was developed from the ground up to facilitate these kinds of advanced radiation therapy practices, and to facilitate workflow efficiencies with no compromise in treatment quality.
"The use of this new technology will allow the Santa Maria Nuova hospital to improve and extend its current offering of IMRT and intensity-modulated arc therapy (IMAT) techniques," said Mauro Iori, medical physicist at the SMN hospital.
"We are pleased to announce the production of the 200th Hi-Art treatment system, and to partner with yet another forward-looking hospital, Santa Maria Nuova hospital of Reggio Emilia. This is a significant milestone for TomoTherapy and indicative of marketplace acceptance of our technology," said Fred Robertson, CEO of TomoTherapy. "Demand for the Hi-Art system continues to grow, and we are not experiencing the broader credit market and financing issues that are impacting some of our peers."
