Hello,
Will do. No reply yet.
Have you been to ZTE's website to read the company news? If not, you should. Then look into if what was stated was then found to be true.

Hello,
I wish I was a little more direct with that post. It wasn't meant to be factual information. I am going to delete it now as to not trip up anybody.
I will admit though that I misunderstand one MAJOR part of the brief I was referring to though. I am happy this discussion ensued as now I have a better understanding of this case.

Hello,
The press release fits the established pattern of ZTE perfectly. Now we wait for a response from VRNG. I am emailing IR about this one to see if yet again ZTE is biblically releasing a lie/misinformation.

Hello,
I was being very sarcastic. I think Coupons is in trouble here but that is only based on 50% of the evidence. Also, I was hoping to scare some longs that don't do their own independent research. Do your own homework all and only rely on public communities to ask questions related to your research!

Hello,
Check out post 3835. It seems factual and relevant. I am fairly certain the link I found here with the brief from Coupons was deleted. Hopefully someone can provide it for you.

Kid
Hello,
Somebody posted the link earlier this month. It was coupons response to the situation. I have swiped my phone since then so the PDF is no longer in my downloads. Maybe some in the community can help point Does to this statement? Maybe you can find the old post if you search all of September's comments?
Coupons made claims at all three things that I mentioned. It was almost funny.

Hello,
I think we are in trouble here. I mean according to Coupons their CEO conveniently recreated DSS's technology before they received it from DSS with the NDA. AND the contract signed was conveniently changed to be in Coupon's favor after it was already inked. AND the information that DSS provided is clearly public knowledge since you can see it oh so easily...
Regards,
Hoping for some faith restored in the legal system
Hello,
My sentiment too after reviewing the SCOTUS decision for Alice although I wouldn't hinge the entire case on proving this process can only be done with a computer. The justices clearly stated one could not apply a computer to something that can be done in the physical world to qualify for a patent. The computer vs human idea should be a large part of the discussion IMO. Another being how much faster a computer can operate due to these patents as this lack of performance increasing idea was discussed in the Alice v CLS as well.
Hello,
YES! If DSS is accurate in this response you are referring to, it sounds as if Coupons is trying to alter facts to support their fabricated positions. Many times DSS quotes in the NDA and then quotes Coupons to show how they are attempting to change things in their favor. A few of these DSS explains how even if Coupons explanation is correct DSS uses facts to explain how DSS is still in the right.
I also enjoy how DDS states that the judge is the one making the final say as to not sound too demanding/pushy on the subject. Maybe playing into the pride thing here?
The briefing was such a great read about this case.

Hello,
Does publically spreading misinformation hold any power in the legal system? Does the intent matter as it seems ZTE is trying to outlast VRNG? I can't recall the specific brief but a judge was openly criticizing ZTE for misinformation in court.

Kid
Hello,
I do not recall individuals taking a hit for the financial collapse you are referring to. The banks receiving billions of dollar fines I do recall though.
Correct me if I misread this but VHC actually had their patents affirmed. They just were ordered to redo the sum of money they deserve to receive. The amount for this is unknown so speculation on this could be expected.

Hello,
I have no knowledge of factual information regarding this. It was indeed just speculating on a potential reasoning making a guess based on facts at hand. Coupons case is nearly about to recieve a court ruling and no new news has been released since DSS latest PR.
Regards,
Kid
Hello,
Perhaps part of the courts orders were to not release information until that date post market?
Giovani, are you suggesting the courts support law breakers? Coupons admits to breaking the NDA that was agreed upon thus breaking the law.

Hello,
I do remember. I actually read the 6 or so press reports from ZTE about VRNG from the past 12 months. They all have a common trend. "VRNG is a troll that is playing unfair," "look at how many patents we(ZTE) have,", and the majority of their challenges have been shut down or remain unsettled. Actually all of their press releases have been overturned or in the works. Lok at the one about the Chinese patent board review too.
I hope everybody will read these releases from ZTE for a better understanding of their approach to VRNG.
Regards,
Kid
Good morning,
Indeed. Thank you for your input. The comments from ZTE and VRNG on the recent events hold little value to me at the time. They both are going to try to spin this their way.
It is an interesting point to reduce the case to the meat of everything so the entire case isn't spoiled by the milk. Cheers to the future.

Kid
Good day,
The other side of the story matters too. VHC had a software patent withstand the test and validated. Has anyone found in other cases of this?
Regards,
Kid
Hello,
The CLS ruling by the judges mentions how a patent can't just recite something from the physical world to binary and call it patented. They also mention if a patent could be eligible if it helps improve the operation of the device. I take that as for example improve battery life due to some patented code. One could also say a software patent is eligible if it improves something's performance. I would argue this linking relationship by the Bascom patents fits this. It improves the speed of search for items thus saving time and money for a user/company.

Hello,
I have been following patent law cases for the last 1.5 years so am still learning. It seems as though it is common to withdraw parts of a companies claim as trials progress as mentioned in this UK claim. Is this accurate to consider it "common?"

Hello,
The ongoing litigation with ZTE in Germany should be the tipping point for this. It should be the soonest potential for revenue based on my understanding of how fast their court system operates. When/if revenue happens then these stall tactics by Zte in attempt to dilute/outlast VRNG will be no longer effective. Sooner if the miracle of the Google situation pans out in the next three months.

Hello,
My discounted cash flow calculates the price of DSS to be worth around 0.95. I used Q1 of this years financial sheets for my numbers. The calculation doesn't include any potential gains from ongoing litigation but judges the price on past results.
It doesn't answer your question but does answer what the company as a whole is worth. I love seeing the price this low. KEEP SELLING ME YOUR SHARES EVERYONE!!!

Hello,
I really enjoy the terms on this VA deal. 750k for a potential stake 10 times that. It is nice to be informed of other patents that are still eligible in that portfolio.
The PR release laying out all litigation ongoing is also quite nice to see. Keep working hard and letting us share holders know what is happening!
Hello,
Companies use certain financial models to assign value to their products, patents, etc. Due to the salesforce case, they realized that part of the business wasn't worth as much so they are taking the loss as an impairment. They don't owe money. The amount was just a modelled value of things with the model changing.
Regards,
Kid
Hello,
The most recent 10k lays out the answer to your question. The max is 2 million. VA is far more than this one case for potential revenue.
Regards,
Kid
Hello,
IF Coupons goes poorly and the price declines to 0.70, the market is demonstrating it's ignorance in the company. The one case involved absolutely does not contribute to nearly 30% of the company's revenue and/or potential revenue.
Also, IF they lose this case based on the publiclly disclosed information on it, no product is safe from being stolen.
My one question from today is if the salesforce case was considered one of the seven cases DSS was involved with during their latest 10k reporting. The case sounded very similar to Alice vs CLS so the outcome of recent events seemed probable.

Hello,
If you are on a site like this asking about buying any stock, save yourself the trouble and don't buy. If you are asking targeted questions to discover if now is a correct time to purchase shares, then we can talk.

PS
I am not trying to be cruel but only trying to save your money.
Hello,
It seems as the market is not giving any value to the legacy side of the business. Look at other patent style stocks Market Caps compared to DSS. Some are much greater with no revenue stream at all. The underlying business is profitable now and being used as a bank account to fund litigation to enforce their products. Management realizes where the margins in the legacy business are the best focusing on these to help things out. The potential of their AuthentiGuard product is incredible. They are hard at work getting their name out on all fronts. The company readily responds to any inquires that they can legally talk about. Not to mention the litigation side.
I gladly am a buyer at these levels and have been loading up over the last month.

Kid
Hello,
I haven't been able to locate much on this Germany case. Will you please post a link to how VRNG "Won?" I am aware of how rapidly the German court systems moves in thesee cases in comparison to the USA and was under the impression a decision was coming shortly on this case in Germany.
For a little irony, I Google searched for this information...

Hello,
I have also wondered about Apple's two witnesses. The inventor of the patent will indeed have a heavy bias in the matter. It makes it a bit interesting that he is on the opposing side of the matter but the idea of his personal bias still applies as he could potentially feel shorted now since DSS is using his patents to attempt to make some revenue.
The other expert was still in Undergraduate in China when the patent went into the books. He seems to have a wealth of knowledge in the wireless technology space but how would he know about this "Ordinary Skill" at the time when he was 1) Not in the country where the patent was issued and 2) still in college.
DSS presenting facts from a well-known company's book at the time these patents took hold to clarify their case seems like a pretty good way to set up a case and define the situation at the time. As after the fact, almost everything becomes "Ordinary" with some background in the matter.

Hello,
It is unfortunate people have an agenda on these boards instead of contributing useful facts or questions to be discussed. Certain posters have a common theme for their agendas that are noticable in a community of this size.

Hello,
I would like to "summarize" and "simplify" a situation that we all know isn't. The Coupons and Company case has been proceeding for a few years now. I know there were initially 3-5 separate claims of infringement, and now there is one left that this ruling is going to (hopefully) clarify.
To my understanding, the claim can be reduced to Coupons and DSS filed a NDA for Coupons to test out some of the anti-counterfeit technology. Coupons then willfully used said technology on millions of their product without compensating DSS for it. Now DSS desires compensation. Coupons is claiming that because the details of justifiable compensation were not in the initial business deal, they shouldn't have to pay anything.
Is this a fair summarization?
Hello,
I am very pleased with the future outlook with the 7-10 cases by year end 2014 and expected 10-15 by year end 2015 as discussed in the latest 10k press conference. I am also very pleased at this market gift of share price and have been a buyer the last few weeks of even more shares.
"The Emergence of DSS" is definately the report that I was recalling although could not remember the name.
Another thing I enjoy about their patent strategy is their call on the Alice vs CLS decision during DSS's investor relations 10 k conference from I believe April 2014 where Jeff basically said, we don't know how that case is turning out so we will diversify away from software related patents. I really loved that thought process then and even moreso now after seeing what is happening to VRNG.
I origninally was interested in this company as pertained to the legacy business coupled with the potential litigation to protect said business. The more I read on their future, the more I realize the true potential we have here and the mitigation of down side because of the core business producing a profitable product.

Kid
Hello,
From what I have read on filing En Banc reviews, it is difficult for an extension to be granted from that initial month window. From the companies release from late August, their request was made and was unopposed. Is it an accurate read that En Banc submission extensions are difficult to receive? It sounds like only an extreme cases will these extensions be honored.
Secondly, I was also reading about how a full Appelate court reading can't be overturned by SCOTUS. Is this accurate?
Regards to all,
Kid
Hello,
I have been following this board for months and this stock since mid 2013.
I had a question for the community regarding the intrinsic value of DSS MINUS the "Technology/Litigation" side of the business. For my analysis, I viewed the financials out three years based on the first quarter 2014 financials and found a value near $1.00/share.
Has anybody else performed any discounted cash flow valuation based on the core business? I am thinking the one $4.00 per share valuation out there assigned something like $1.50 for the leagacy business and $2.50 for the patent litigation side.
Thoughts?
