Sold my TZA at 26.70 on that spike. Weird volatility today.
Obrien- Do you think stocks will react negatively to the presser? Trump is doing it during market hours, so perhaps he think it will be a positive effect?
Trump News Conference is at 2pm EST.
Probably just got lucky on TZA. I actually shifted all my deferred comp accounts away from the Russell Index a couple days ago. Really not sure what the market is going to do over the next couple of weeks/months at this point.
TZA - Already have a decent profit on this one..tempting to sell now. I'm not sure when this is going to take place - this afternoon maybe.
wade - if the market was that predictable, everyone would be millionaires.
Obrien - you still holding your shorts? I'm still in TZA. Watching closely to see how the market reacts to news today.
Just added TZA at 23.34.
TOMZ - First chunk added at .982. Will look to buy more if it gets back into the .80s.
O’Brien- I already sold it. Probably a bit premature.
Obrien - i'm conflicted on what I think will happen next. I'm not 100% cash, but i'm definitely lightening up today. I'm also changing the configuration of some of my retirement accounts. The big question mark to me is how much the Fed is pumping into this thing. If it's inflation we are faced with, the market could keep marching higher up to 30K and beyond. Tough to say. Seems like there are so many people who are expecting a correction, though.
Obrien - in with you on SOXS at 7.08. Have a target on this? Are you a big chart guy? Your entry points are usually very good.
ARNGF - Yes it has! Wish I had more shares in this one. I've added 4 gold miners so far (equally weighted).
CTHR Earnings Out:
Q3 EPS $(0.21) misses $(0.02) estimate. Sales $6.5M beat $6.0 estimate. Was tempted to sell some today at .87 but held off for higher prices. Company still looks undervalued to me.
Just seems to me like this is a repeat of 2008/09 with the QE efforts of the Fed. Perhaps we really see some significant inflation this time around? Definitely making sure I have some decent exposure to gold.
I bought some also. High .20s. Weird action.
Littlefish- that made me laugh out loud. Thanks...
Market looks like it really wants to go down. I was going to reallocate all my funds on Monday to conservative. We may be in for a bit of pain here.
I’m in on SLTTF at 2.52.
APT getting some movement today. Added yesterday in the AH at 12.82.
HYDI - i'm cost averaged at .4275. This has been my best performer over the past year. Added since I saw the writeup on nonamestocks.
So fortunate to pull my sell order a couple weeks ago. It's already a double since then. Crazy.
Any time I need a contrarian indicator I think of Wade :P
So do we just post our picks on this board?
Why does SCIA not qualify? Volume?
Wade-
Keep fighting the market if you want..QE has a significant impact. It’s not like you just flip a switch and it immediately corrects. There was a huge amount of deleveraging that was still hitting the market in late 2008-2009.
See this:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2017/11/24/the-fed-launched-qe-nine-years-ago--these-four-charts-show-its-impact.html
Wade- I think Mermel is right. QE1 started around December 2008 and the market bottomed shortly thereafter.
“Starting in 2008, the U.S. Federal Reserve started a quantitative easing program by increasing the money supply by $4 trillion. This had the effect of increasing the asset side of the Federal Reserve's balance sheet, as it purchased bonds, mortgages, and other assets.”
My gold stocks did well today. So far have ARNGF, GORO, SKREF and TMMFF. I'm still doing additional DD to try and find others.
PVAC and the energy sector already had a nice bounce. Not sure I would buy it here..but quite the runup for anyone lucky enough to get it sub-1.
RNsidersbuying-
Thanks for doing the DD on this. I will check it out as well. I'm sure we are going to want to find the smaller guys for the chances of a bigger return. It's a pretty decent risk/reward even for a speculative position.
LNC 1Q results out:
Rev - 4.43B
Net - 52M
Adj EPS - $2.24
EPS - 15c
Book Value per Share - $85.79
Glad i'm holding on to this one...
GORO - Had a crummy 1Q $(0.050), missed the $0.040 estimate. Sales were 28 mill, 33.42 mill expected. One analyst cut the price target from $8 to $6.75 but still maintains a buy.
CPSH-
Yes, thanks for the alert yesterday. I was going to bid some in the AH but it got away from me. Turns out it was still a good opportunity.
HTZ - Any opinions on this one? Upside? With less flights, more demand for rental cars?
researcher (UNM) - What do you mean expected to some extent? Isn't that dated back in 2018? What would be different now...the environment in which to do it?
UNM - Looks like an overreaction to me. I get that they missed their numbers and some analysts were expecting higher. The Moody's downgrade probably hurts too. I'm bidding more in the AH. Like SSK says, I have no idea why this one is always the red headed stepchild.
SCIA - Nothing special in the report but I think people may be waking up to the fact that it took a bigger hit than it should have, even with COVID-19. They have very little debt and even though their profits/net income are down, they are still doing well and should be good for the future. Value stock.
CUBI - This is exactly my problem as well. There are a lot of other depressed stocks in the same industry that pay dividends and will probably go up just as much in terms of the recovery.
HYDI - Keeps moving - lots of traction (doesn't take much). Boy am I glad that I pulled that 1.50 sell order last week.
This Mr. Cooper Group presentation should shed some light on what we are likely to see from NRZ next week:
http://investors.mrcoopergroup.com/Cache/IRCache/785da0f9-c402-75c6-4f7b-155387faecb4.PDF?O=PDF&T=&Y=&D=&FID=785da0f9-c402-75c6-4f7b-155387faecb4&iid=4401869
Not as bad as originally thought.
Obrien - I was tempted also...but still holding. Have some NLY and REML also in the mREIT space.
