March 17 (SeeNews) - US firm HyperSolar Inc (OTC:HYSR) said Tuesday it has applied for a full utility patent for its method of making low-cost and high-voltage multi-junction artificial photosynthetic cells.
Together with the University of Iowa and University of California, Santa Barbara, HyperSolar is developing a technology for hydrogen production using only sunlight and any source of water. With the patent application, it wants to protect its low-cost and high-voltage multi-junction solar cell made from a single material. It says the voltage achieved so far in the lab is “very close” to the 1.5 V needed for splitting water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen.
HyperSolar chief executive Tim Young expects the hydrogen fuel industry to become as competitive as solar and wind energies. “This patent ensures that we not only protect our technology, but also allows us to facilitate licensing efforts as we progress towards commercialization,” he added.
The company believes that its technology will be able to produce renewable hydrogen that is cost competitive with hydrogen produced from natural gas.

Unlike hydrocarbon fuels, such as oil, coal and natural gas, where carbon dioxide and other contaminants are released into the atmosphere when used, hydrogen fuel usage produces pure water as the only byproduct.
By optimizing the science of water electrolysis at the nano-level, HYSR low-cost nanoparticles mimic photosynthesis to efficiently use sunlight to separate hydrogen from water to produce environmentally friendly renewable hydrogen. Using our low-cost method to produce renewable hydrogen, we intend to enable a world of distributed hydrogen production for renewable electricity and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
In recent news HYSR said that it had reached 1.25 volts (V), an important milestone achievement in its effort to split water molecules for the production of renewable hydrogen fuel.
HyperSolar’s research is centered on developing a low-cost and submersible hydrogen production particle that can split water molecules under the sun, emulating the core functions of photosynthesis. Each particle is a complete hydrogen generator that contains a novel high voltage solar cell bonded to chemical catalysts by a proprietary encapsulation coating.
The theoretical minimum voltage needed to split water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen is 1.23 V. However, in real world systems, 1.5 V or more is generally needed because of the low reaction kinetics. So far, other researchers have only been able to achieve this voltage level through the use of either inefficient materials, such as titanium oxide, or very expensive semiconductors, such as gallium arsenide. Also, overcoming the corrosive degradation of these “artificial photosynthesis” systems remains a monumental challenge and has thus far eluded commercialization.
Back in October HYSR achieved a significant technological milestone in its pursuit of clean hydrogen fuel production, by eliminating an expensive hydrogen-oxygen separation process. This will dramatically reduce the overall system cost of hydrogen fuel production from sunlight.
The Company has developed a novel reactor design and system architecture that uses a high voltage solar cell, that can be wrapped in the company’s patent pending polymer coating, that serves two functions: (1) convert sunlight into electricity to split water into hydrogen on one side, and oxygen on the other side, and (2) acts as a physical barrier preventing oxygen from combining with hydrogen. The respective hydrogen and oxygen gas bubbles to the top of the reactor as two separate and pure gas streams. This novel design circumvents the need for membrane separators all together.

Short sellers running rampant there im even wondering if my position from the other day was smart

Patent is what makes us money without patents we are nothing
Our patents are dependent on the intellectual property of a large group of scientists and researchers who have signed over their work and product of their research to this publicly traded company we know and love.
That means they are at the tenure of our management and ceo by recommendation of our Chief Scientific Advisors, past and present
Now in the case of HYSR many of our researchers have also have contributed intellectual property which backs up our patents
For this many have been compensated with shares which they have perhaps also traded up to a large sum - I feel we are a solid base of shareholders cohesively
And since so many of us are long holders the trading floor belongs to money managers who are balancing HYSR on their pinky whil spinning every other stock in their portfolio too
Anyways as we begin to trade more and build upon our own balances
With that said as we determine the details of the patent we can be assured it is a fantastic step in the right direction

I am worried about SLTD drop and am now convinced that short sellers on Nasdaq are going to be a big threat after our own uplisting
Someone knocked SLTD off 8.88 and down it goes if you watch KNDI the same thing happened after its rise
It is one of the most shorted stocks on Nasdaq we are going to have to learn some lessons in trading because it appears that we are going to be shook out and shook up ad shook down

HYSR collaborates with Dept.OfEnergy labs, no child's play
They are funded and well connected -- they have relationships necessary to fund 2 major research groups at two leading American universities
Their product works as is right now at any scale!
As soon as they hit 1.25 volts they could of taken it to mass production and made all of you happy
However it wouldn't make sense because why buy an iPhone 1.25 when the iPhone 1.5 and iPhone 1.85 are coming?
Also there is no large scale market demand for H2 that cannot be met with reformed natural gas at a lower price.
The concept is to perfect the product as the market demand evolves
The market for cars for consumers is people who buy H2 Cars because it's GREEN -- so they want GREEN hydrogen not BROWN like reformed natural has made by burning coal
Soon people will want GREEN H2 to power their American Homes
My point: No investors will be filling Midwest America with H2 Gas Stations until next year. So why rush the product?
I wouldn't build a 1.25 gas station if I can build a 1.5 or 1.65 by this time next year

HyperSolar is a submersible solar panel so you don't waste power to charge wires and fill the electrolyzers with charge.
When you run current across wires you lose lots of power in many ways.

The optical resonances of plasmonic nanostructures depend critically on the geometrical details of the absorber. We show that this unique property of plasmons can potentially be used to create panchromatic absorbers covering most of the useful solar spectrum, by measuring the light-to-hydrogen conversion capabilities of a series multielectrode photocatalytic devices, based on functionalized gold nanorods of appropriately chosen aspect ratios. Judiciously combining nanorods of various aspect ratios almost doubles the H2 production of the device over what is optimally possible with a device using gold nanorods of a single aspect ratio (all other key parameters being equal). The estimated quantum efficiency (absorbed photons-to-hydrogen) averaged over the entire solar spectrum of the best performing plasmonic multielectrode array was approximately 0.1%, and the measured H2 production rate for all of the devices was found to be approximately proportional to the hot electron generation. The device was monitored continuously for over 200 hr of operation without measurable diminution in the rate.
