Dont forget the cost of 24 weeks of interferon .The missed work , The lab tests etc
It aint cheap all the way around !
shortening the duration of treatment by 24 weeks
Great point that would help offset the increased cost of adding a DAA.I am sure it is being studied or will be looked at soon.
They are studying Vita D supplementation. My guess is they are deficient because the liver is damaged .Over 90% of Chronic liver disease patients are deficient in Vita D .Vita D is metabolized by the liver .I personally don't believe supplementation will increase the response rate.It is worth investigating
IL28B CC group had an 80% response . Why would an insurance company allow a doctor to add on a third more costly drug such as Bocep ? If they know a Geno 1 patients response is usually around 40% with Interferon plus rib but if they are a CC they go to 80%.Why would you add a DAA to any patient in the CC group?
Hep C quiz
At last years AASLD there were two posters that presented information that this vitamin deficiency may lead to poor response rates in current SOC therapy. This is being studied as we type
Which vitamin are they talking about ?
IL28B polymorphism's effect on treatment response would have to be reevaluated for regimens including direct antivirals
Dew are you aware of any data with IL28B and any of the DAAs ?
Also if you were a CC and had an 80% chance of SVR would they even use a DAA ? MRK licensed the test and yet it could conceivably cut into Bocep profits ?? I know they have a medical obligation to advance science. This discovery came out of the IDEAL trial i believe.
Yes
Because the mitochondria is the location of the interferon response mechanisim . by damaging the mitochondria the Hep C virus stops the interferon response
Another quiz question :
Why does HCV target the mitochondria?
Interesting debate by Sanofi s own Reps on Cafe Pharma about generic Lovenox. Not the most informed group of posters but interesting none the less

Does it have anything to do with Red-Cell Aplasia ?
I am not sure but i will guess. Is the European market share of the branded product G-CSF/Neupogen much larger than the branded EPO/Eprex ?So they generic uptake would be faster ?
Tinkershaw
Great post .I would hope you and the other bright minds on this board would send your comments to the FDA.You might be surprised how intelligent " Public " opinion can sway a government agency.I know i am going to get picked apart for that last statement but i am not too cynical to believe that smart people still have a voice with our regulators.
Just a thought and i do not think it would hurt.
I know but i have to put my resources into MNTA now.Its just as big a screamer as ONP was at 4.50 . Plus i had to ring the register to offset the beating i took in DJSP today.Maybe she will take a breather and i can get back on the train again . Good luck
Shen
Had to ring the register on this one.Its probably still a double.
Good luck
I took some lumps and sold .I should have known this one was too risky right now
I never go margin but i also did a little bit on ,margin.Absolute overreaction
I back in with both hands and both feet.I am nuts but i think this is a once and a lifetime opportunity.I started dipping my toes too early. But 17 come on
So this baby may go a lot lower ?
over 400000 warrants dumped today
The warrants are killing me.
Glen
what is your take on todays news ?
We were doing no volume and then there was some huge dumping.I am considering exiting
How will this effect DJSP ?
Wow
She is feeling good
Wow volume has really dried up !
Burp whats your feeling on ONP . I loaded up on ONP and DJSP with my CCME money 2 days ago. I think you are not high on DJSP because of stern and i respect that .Looks like ONP is making its move.

Here are some counter ideas on the yahoo thread. You may have read them and i usually don't reference yahoo.

I also respect people who will not invest in certain industries like Budweiser and Phillip Morris . I would think the for closure business is a dirty but necessary business.
Of course i am long and biased.

After looking at this company i decided to buy several shares today. She may go a little lower but i thought the stock looked very stable today. In 3 months she could be double
I bought a bunch of this today. I think she goes much higher in the next few months
"...we anticipate we will be generating significant cash
for the Company in the short-term as long as the sole generic position holds."
I think that says it all . I believe they feel a greater than 50% chance TEVA will not get approved yet they cant really say that. I also think TEVA realizes they will not be granted approval and that is why they threw such a hissy fit.
The question of MNTA raising cash has been raised a few times already and i apologize if it is getting worn out.
Do they really need to raise cash ?
I listened to the CC and i do not remember a question being asked by an analyst . If they did not ask that question i find that odd.Perhaps i missed it.
I was thinking if they needed to raise cash they probably feel the court will rule in favor of them and they would easily get more $ per share after the ruling. So i think they are very confident.Another few possibilities besides them feeling that they don't need cash short term is that sales will bring in enough cash. Finally and more of an out lier is they are very loyal and wanted to give their employees a chance here in the 20s before an offering in the high teens.
Sorry for fixating on this but i am actually hoping to get in a little lower which is risky.I may miss the train completely but i am willing to take that risk

Wash Sales and Options

Compared to me you are an expert.
Thanks for the lesson.
Paper sounds like a good idea at first
Burp Since you are an option expert.
I have an option question i am hoping you can help me with.If i sold shares of CCME in the last 30 days for a loss and i buy some calls and hold the option 30 days .The options go in the money and i execute and receive the stock.Do i lose my tax loss.
I know it is not the same animal ( Hamster ovaries vs carrot cells ) but didn't Pfizer enter into a partnership with Protalix with the Gauchers disease enzyme replacement. Interesting i though Pfizer would pursue Genzyme. The circle is getting smaller.Maybe Pfizer will pursue MNTA. I sold my MNTA yesterday above 23 after i heard him say that insiders would sell some shares to cover tax gains. Wow that was either incredibly ethical or we are going to see some big sales .
I know i am getting greedy and could miss the next few dollars on the upside but i expect a pullback to 20 to 21.
1) MKT has been up last several days
2) Void of news until mid Aug
3) Insider sales could push down a buck
Now don't shoot the messenger i am just totally guessing here.

27 minute CME video for anyone wanting to learn more about current and future HCV treatments. Its pretty basic so if you are new to HCV it is helpful
The link is asking for a log in which you can create a free account.I was able to watch it without registering ?

What i do which is probably not the easiest way when i do not know what an acronym is.
Goggle the acronym plus some fact in the post that was used
Example :
SVR hep c
HCV PI
i am sure there are easier ways but goggle is amazing with just a few facts added
Quiz: Can the SVR rate in a given trial arm be higher than the SVR12 rate? Has this ever happened?
Yes if i am understanding your question
Yes some patients have cleared at week 24 and went on to SVR
Also there have been trials that the treatment has been extended for 72 weeks for these late responders.
Interesting thanks
I know that in clinical practice most if not all physicians are using EOT plus 24 weeks to test for relapse after a successful 48 weeks of Peg + Rib. Perhaps that will change.
