Applied DNA Sciences Partners with Swedish Police to Protect Homes from Burglary in Stockholm: Insurance Companies Sponsor Major Trial Project
http://www.prweb.com/releases/2014/02/prweb11606477.htm
500 houses in Stockholm will have household items marked with the APDN anti-theft product DNANet, branded in Sweden as smartDNA. The technology empowers police to pin a criminal directly to a crime.
Stony Brook, NY (PRWEB) February 24, 2014
Applied DNA Sciences (OTCQB: APDN), (Twitter: @APDN), a provider of DNA-based anti-counterfeiting technology and product authentication solutions, announced today it will be creating a DNA-Protected Community in Stockholm, Sweden, in a trial collaboration with the Stockholm Police and three large insurance companies.
The trial project, known as MärkDNA, uses a technology that can absolutely pin a criminal to his crime. The technology has been proven in the United Kingdom and elsewhere to be a powerful deterrent to crime, based on its strong conviction rate.
In the collaboration, 500 houses in Tyresö, in the southern part of Stockholm, may have household items marked with the APDN anti-theft product DNANet, branded in Sweden as smartDNA. The marks are designed to be forensically analyzed in an APDN lab in order to pinpoint the origin of the stolen object.
Should stolen items in possession of a criminal be be recovered by police, the smartDNA mark will link the criminal directly to the crime.
Items that are marked with smartDNA may also be scanned instantly with a UV light, which will show the presence of the smartDNA mark with a bright fluorescence. This alone has proven to be a strong tool in the arsenal of law enforcement. All police cars in Stockholm County will be fitted with UV lights used to help find DNA-branded loot.
Warning signage and other publicity in the protected communities will also act as a powerful crime deterrent. Already, APDN partner Leif Svensson, CEO of Safe Solution AB, has appeared on Swedish TV in a video explaining the initiative. The video, in Swedish, may be accessed here. Safe Solution has played an instrumental role in bringing the collaboration into being.
The participating insurance companies, which are sponsoring and financing the project, are IF, TryggHansa, and Länsförsäkringar. Others have also expressed interest in joining.
The trial is similar to one under way for several months in London, where APDN has protected over 2000 homes with the DNANet system. Law enforcement in at least two other countries in Europe have expressed interest in the system.
Two other competitor companies will participate along with APDN in the trial.

I agree and as the good Dr. commented we are beginning to deal with some very large company's.
I believe the Dr. is motivated by a moral/safety compass ultimately heading towards a clean up of the pharmaceutical counterfeiting problem and that the current focus on DLA is a means to provide credence and integrity of the product solution.
All the other verticals are game but the pharma is the apple in the Dr.'s eye - I believe.
Thanks Shail, Vans - @75 mil they are req. to file w/i 75 days instead of 90 now according to SEC http://www.sec.gov/answers/form10q.htm
APDN's SEC reporting change.
During the conf. call the CFO mentioned a change has occured in their reporting status to a "accelerated.... ?".
I did not fully hear all of what she said but I believe she mentioned they would now be required to report more often and in more detail.
Anybody have any take on this ?

Shail,SeaPigeon - we are beyond trying to prove a viable product.
Patents will protect our investments - all we have to worry about is dilution until profitable (unless "potential" pushes us up first).
Or... we get bought - hopefully for a mega price.
LOL, global clients, worlds dominant military - penny stock ?

From the SEC 10Q: Revenue Recognition
The Company recognizes revenue in accordance with Accounting Standards Codification (“ASC”) 605, Revenue Recognition (“ASC 605”). ASC 605 requires that four basic criteria must be met before revenue can be recognized: (1) persuasive evidence of an arrangement exists; (2) delivery has occurred and/or service has been performed; (3) the selling price is fixed and determinable; and (4) collectability is reasonably assured. Determination of criteria (3) and (4) are based on management’s judgments regarding the fixed nature of the selling prices of the products delivered or services provided and the collectability of those amounts. Provisions for allowances and other adjustments are provided for in the same period the related sales are recorded. The Company defers any revenue for which the product has not been delivered, service has not been provided, or is subject to refund until such time that the Company and the customer jointly determine that the product has been delivered, service has been performed, or no refund will be required. At September 30, 2013 and 2012, the Company recorded deferred revenue of $148,503 and $0, respectively.
Revenue arrangements with multiple components are divided into separate units of accounting if certain criteria are met, including whether the delivered component has stand-alone value to the customer. Consideration received is allocated among the separate units of accounting based on their respective selling prices. The selling price for each unit is based on vendor-specific objective evidence, or VSOE, if available, third party evidence if VSOE is not available, or estimated selling price if neither VSOE nor third party is available. The applicable revenue recognition criteria are then applied to each of the units.
Revenue for a Government contract award, which supports our development efforts on specific projects is recognized as milestones are achieved as per the contract. The Company recognized revenue of $100,000 from this contract during the year ended September 30, 2013.
Great summary by Patrick Cox, thanks WT.
That's already being done in England - I forget the suit manufacturer but they are using the marker thread method you mention.
RK, I believe the significance with the anti dilution vs. the marker thread is that cotton importers would be authenticating by the bin/vat/container? vs. a specific clothing manufacturer.
The manufacturers would be able to authenticate the cotton as pure and not cut/diluted from their source(s).
Chances are better than ever. They've been to these Textile Shows before but the anti dilution capability is new.
The article mentions preventing dilution. Thats relatively new and I believe attributable to Signature T.
The dilution prevention is a game changer I am very pleased with - otherwise it would be very difficult to participate in the textile market without using such things as a marker thread.
MERRY XMAS ( be safe & enjoy )
We made it to .12 w/o that .119 wall in the way.
I wonder if that was a real Ask or just a way someone wanted to accumulate below that price.
Cool beans.

US Defense Logistics Agency is Exploring DNA Marking as a Possible Solution to Mitigate Counterfeits in a Broad Range of Products
Presentation at Industry Outreach Event
STONY BROOK, NY, November 14, 2013. Applied DNA Sciences (OTCQB: APDN), (Twitter: @APDN), a provider of DNA-based anti-counterfeiting technology and product authentication solutions, today issued an update concerning the 2013 Electrical and Electronics Industry Outreach Forum, sponsored by the US Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) in Columbus, Ohio on October 24, 2013.
The conference included a briefing by DLA about SigNature® DNA Marking of Microcircuits. Currently there is a requirement for SigNature DNA marking of all Federal Supply Class (FSC) 5962 microcircuits supplied to DLA. That briefing is included within a larger presentation published by DLA on its website, and which can be found here, in slides numbered 24-43.
Slide 42 of the briefing, stated that:
DLA is exploring [SigNature] DNA marking, along with other technologies as a possible solution to mitigate counterfeits in these high risk items:
FSC 3110, Bearings (Aviation)
FSC 4730, Fittings, Hoses, and Tube (Land & Maritime or L&M)
FSC 5325, Fasteners (Troop Support)
FSC 5935, Electrical Connectors (L&M)
FSC 5961, Semi-conductor Devices (L&M)
While these commodities represent the higher risk items DLA procures, overall, the Agency manages 5.1 million items assigned to 548 different Supply Classes. DLA procures 93% of electrical and electronic parts procured in support of the DOD services.
These commodities are of various sizes, shapes and substrates and represent a meaningful volume of parts procured by DLA. "Applied DNA's commercial experience in marking everything from copper cables to plastic sheaths to textiles is transferable to these FSCs," stated Dr. James A. Hayward, President and CEO of Applied DNA Sciences.
Janice Meraglia, Vice President of Military and Government Programs at Applied DNA Sciences stated: "Applied DNA is poised to support DLA in its determination to safeguard any commodities necessary to ensure readiness for the warfighter."

Early notice is a good thing provided one still has some powder remaining :/
Shail, I received an email from media@adnas.com around 8:30 this morning.
Shail, if I may interject here - one of their main revenue sources from SigNature DNA is their Authentication Services. They should reap a lot of business from this service as Brinks is a global business and theoretically would perform some authentication.
Also a nice feather in their cap with such a name brand.
Thanks Cat, I think Yips post #24510 would work better since the first line of the post describes the PR and that is what is visible from the Sticky.
Hey Cat/Other - can you post the PR text so one of the Mods can Sticky Note it...
Penny land & football share a common trait.
Stats don't mean nutn.
I don't like computer trades but if I have to defer to an automatic trade I want to make sure I really like it.
The point is to test the lockup of shares in my GTC order.
someone posed on a prior day that if the shares (yours/mine) are committed in a GTC order they can not be loaned out by a MM (shorted).
I don't know if it is true but now I'm not taking any chances.
If I/we can deny the MM's ammo - more power to us.
If Adnas announces a major contract and the SP rockets temporally to unreasonable levels past $25.00 I may capture a bonus.
$5.00 would probably be more reasonable but who knows.
The theory is that a GTC order locks up the shares so the can not be borrowed/shorted by the MM's.
Before open I cancelled my $5.00 GTC order.
Now we see under Bid wacking!
I re established my GTC at $25.00.
Arrr.
