And their news feed isn't updating again. You can place a trade from the charts though.
this is weird on FXCM the eur/usd and aud/usd are slightly lighter and a big red circle with a white line through it appears if you scroll over them like you were going to enter a trade.
didn't read the link but I was thinking that it moves up first. How high I couldn't guess but if it moves in your favor I would keep raising your stop to protect any profits.
the euro is a tough trade these days. If you are short you can get caught in a nasty squeeze like what happened Thursday night early Friday morning, but like you say overall the currency is in trouble so shorting from a fundamental standpoint is the way to go.
I think everyone here has busted out their account at least three times probably more in most cases. IMO it really is about learning to take those losses before they run away from you. I know for me so many negative conversations about myself ( and there were many ) would distract me from simply focusing on where I should cut my losses. Now I just stay focused on the trade and I try and make sure I enter not too far out from where I can reasonably assume I am wrong should it go against me so I am no taking a big loss, or enter in smaller lots or both. The better I have gotten at taking the losses the better and more confident I have felt about my trading.
Maybe they would open up Saturday trading just for you. Although I really need a day off so scrap that. Cool about the job it is nice to work somewhere you are appreciated.
I feel very fortunate to have found forex trading, watching the news and people who have been looking for work for ages and have just lost hope, at least I have this.
I looked to see where you were, I am around Detroit so I know what it is like. I am in the same boat imposible to find work pretty much and I was a stay at home mom for 18 years. Now I am on my own with the kids and minimal support. I have spent a lot of time in a cold sweat in the middle of the night, but not so much lately. By hook or crook we seem to get by and we are all pretty happy and I just keep plugging away at the forex. I have learned to keep my head clear of the reality of my situation most of the time when I trade, I have to otherwise the pressure would be too immense and I would not do well. Instead I have been pretty disciplined because I have to be, our whole future is riding on this so I can't be cavalier.
I guess the smart thing to do is take the job. Lots of people would be so happy to have the offer you have. Part of me says you are young live a little do some traveling, but you can always do that later. Things are different now, so taking the job now is the prudent thing to do.
GBP/USD given up just about all its gains back almost down to the low.
That was the longest stretch I think that you have gone without posting. I knew I probably shouldn't worry but I do anyway. I hope you are wrong about your DOW prediction but we can't even really hold a gain today. People who have retired are really suffering the brunt of this now. Anyway sounds like you have found something great to do. I am happy for you. We had two wandering dogs show up here this week. It always used to be cats lol. One was right from our street one had escaped out of a car but called into animal control where I had called to report the little guy and so he ended up back with his family too.
Ok recouped my evening and overnight losses and then some. I had recouped some after I said I was going to quit in the middle of the night. Bounced around after the NFP back down to my overnight low but recouped all that plus. So closed out the week at 16%. I am going to shoot for 10% of my beginning months balance 3 times a week for the entire month. And then the new month 10% of that starting balance 3 times a week and so on and so forth.
futures starting to lose some ground.
Oh man that hurts. Been a crazy week.
My news feed isn't updating is yours working?
crazy stuff.
I made back some of what I lost shorting above 1.27 but very tricky to say what is going to happen this jobs number seems to be really skewing everything. Not sure if a better than worst case scenario number will be good or bad for eur/usd.
who knows after last night.
all right I am going back to sleep. Tried one more time at the short but bailed. My week kinda got busted up tonight still ahead but not by much just 5%. Didn't have a great start either.
I took a bit of a hit on the EUR/USD short earlier, woke up and was glad I didn't try hanging in. Who would have guessed that kind of move? What are you in?
this is turning into a very ugly day for equities. You are probably right about Worn.
ah you are back to trading live. Yeah today is tricky, I think that explains why the board is so quiet lol, everyone is having to really focus on their trades. I am thinking though that we may go into some pretty well defined ranges for a while which wouldn't be such a bad thing. Oh and I am starting to really worry about Worn, did he say he was going to be away?
I have no idea I think it may trend back down for a bit but doesn't mean it isn't good for a scalp up. Overall who knows. AIG, yeah I am with you on that. All of these companies, the banks, AIG acted with complete recklessness, knowingly, whereas the auto companies maybe were guilty of not great management and some bad luck.
anyone listening to the AIG hearing it is unreal they just don't want to tell the committee anything. Not who the counter parties are, what the risks are at this point, where the money has gone that we already gave them.......
and today is so volatile. Sorry your week isn't going well.
thank you that was really helpful.
15:40 FOREX: EBS Said Back Up New York, March 5th. According to a DJ headline, ICAP"s EBS forex trading platform is back up after morning disruptions. Some of this morning"s wild price action has been ascribed to liquidity issues due to the EBS interruption.
read my post 31564
"traders report problems with EBS matching"
don't know what that means exactly but liquidity is a problem.
OK really where is WORN? he hasn't posted since the 1st.
thoughts on EUR/USD
rolled out at 1.26. Made a nice profit. Was down more than I like to be when it was hovering around 1.2660
The euro went up last time they cut?
I was having a great day until I went short the EUR/USD
seems like almost a no brainer to be short. But that might be the problem, too many thinking that way.
very nice!
and how do you decide where to take your profit?
nice move you pretty much caught the top for the day so far.
Equity markets rocking today EUR/USD took a moon shot.
good discussion

Can we hold onto gains today in the equity markets?
