Good morning and AMEN! Do have a most awesome day Bigfootbud!
As we know...the Apostle Paul....was born Saul to a mom and dad that were Jewish and their home was Tarsus...so...Paul was born a Roman citizen. So of course Saul was a Jew that was a Roman by citizenship. And ive heard and read that Sauls mom and dad and extended family were probably roman slaves at one time. And ive read that Saul / Paul most likely spoke Greek and Hebrew. Now we know that before the encounter on the road to Damascus Saul was on a mission to wipe out all those new believers in Jesus....and for several years i thought he was working...so to speak...for the Roman government in doing this... then...i find out or figure out that actually he as a Zealous Jew and Saul thought he was doing it in the name of God...the great I Am...the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob as at this time few Jews had accepted Jesus as the Messiah....that blew my mind!
As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? And he said, “Who are You, Lord? Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads. So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?
Acts 9: 3-6
Why do i bring this up. To go along with the topic of Bible study. Without it we can sometimes be confused...so to speak...about the truth. And as we know after the road to Damascus moment Saul changed his name to Paul and what a transformation that was!
But i guess in reality...all of us that .....
Amazing grace! how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch; like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
What a transformation we all were and are!!!
Y'all have a awesome day!

Good morning....and as we know....
"For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse."
Romans 1:20
All we have to do is look around at creation and see our loving and awesome God!
Have a awesome day pinkslipjunkie!
The old Hymn..."Every day with Jesus...Is sweeter than the day before...Every day with Jesus...I love Him more and more"...So i ask you on this beautiful God given Thursday morning. Is your relationship with Jesus...your love for Jesus...sweeter today than yesterday...than last week? Do you have that awesome hunger and thirst to spend every moment you can with Jesus be it in thought...talking to Him and reading His word. Do you have a burning desire to know Him more and more? As born-again believers we know...that the God of the universe created all of us for a very personal reason...to love us beyond our understanding...to have a awesome loving relationship with us...and...to spend time with us...right? Thats the entire reason that God created us! Everything else really is secondary. So in each day...of course...there is 24 hours. In each week there are 168 hours. Stop and think...how many hours each day...each week...do you spend in dedicated...loving...intentional praise and worship to and with the very Person...One and only God...that created you? We are told in scripture to "pray without ceasing." We are told to "meditate on Gods word day and night". Now we know that we cant pray all the time nor read the Bible all the time...or...can we. When we get that mindset...that love and passion for Jesus Christ...can we not all throughout our day be in thought to Him...including Him in all circumstances of life...good and not so good...and talking of Him in all our conversation? When we do that...its kinda sorta like we are praying without ceasing...right? What does a personal relationship look like? And when we read the Bible...study the word...memorize scripture...then all thru the day when everything that comes our way we have scripture flow from our heart to deal with the day...is that not like meditating on the word all thru our day? The Holy Spirit lives in us...its not like we have to go looking for Him...so...when we open our hearts and minds completely thru surrender and obedience....all this other stuff comes easily...Right? Remember...God is thinking of us every second of every day....He provides every beat of our heart and every breath in our lungs....how much time do we give Him in return? Think about it!

Good morning brother… Well first of all… I am NOT saying that a person should not study the Bible…as we know…gaining a deeper understanding of Gods word is very beneficial...of course in getting to know Him better...but also...helping us in our walk each day and helping us turn our back to sin. So...to go along with the Bible there's plenty of resources that we can put down on the table in front of us…and as we read the Bible to flip back and forth to the reference versus that are included…to read the words that others have put in their study Bibles like say John MacArthur…Bible dictionaries…Bible concordances…and there are like five different versions of the Bible that i use...NKJV...ESV...NSAB...NIV...NLT… Yes…plenty of awesome tools for us to use to study the Bible....with of course the best tool...so to speak...as you said...the Holy Spirit. But with me… I have found…and remember I'm kind of a one track simpleminded person… I can get so involved with this that and the other with all these resources…and I end up just confused and not even know what I originally was sitting there trying to figure out…sigh...but of course...even if a run a rabbit around the hole in that study i am still learning so its all good...right. Now...again...keeping in mind that I'm kind of a one track simple minded kind of person. So I'm not saying anything is wrong with studying the Bible…but I have found…just sitting and reading the text of the Bible and as this is often talked about.... not about the quantity of reading but the quality of reading…and taking those few verses and absorb them and like you say plugger letting the Holy Spirit reveal to me through that that I need to hear…seems to be my best bet. Now of course I use other resources from time to time…and they are awesome…but i just thought I would throw that out there to go along with what you were saying. The discernment of the Holy Spirit…in our heart…living in us…holding the Bible in our hands reading verse by verse…yes plugger with a cup of coffee...im pretty sure God will always reveal to us what we need to hear in our mind and our heart at that time…how cool and awesome is that !
