John Coltrane - Theme For Ernie
Bob & Earl - Harlem Shuffle
Bo Diddley - The Beat That Shook The World
From what I know Dickinson
was the real producer of that record they made.in Muscle Shoals
He was the "yoke" between those crackers & the Brits,
with respect from both sides..
The lawyers are ironing out
the fine details as we chat, Myth.
About a year ago, I sent him
some lyrics that a friend had written.
While she is a very accomplished writer
(11 books) she had never written anything for
potential music accompaniment.
Last week they were in Napa CA, and I arranged
for Zia and a friend to see the show (all access).
As with all of us, she was overwhelmed with their talent
and professionalism, but what the thrill of the night
was when Kenny introduced her to Marty as his "writing partner!"
Yeah cap; we didn't always get along musically,
but once I started recording Carol Kaye, Billy Rich
and Chuck Rainey, I got more respect.
She DID introduce me to 19 yr old,
Kenny Vaughan, however, who I hired
to record an overdub, a week later.
Yup; cldn't tell for a minute
with her clothes on.
It was in her mom's pool in Houston,
that Dusty went swimming.
This lady was the bass player in our band.
She achieved her fame in and out of music.

I was told a few years ago by someone
who was in attendance, that a 15 yr old SRV was present on the night
that several members of our band joined Rocky & Dusty Hill jamming at a funky
after hours club in Houston named Lucille's. (It was in the shadow of a rice mill,
and more than that, I have little recollection). Apparently, like his brother, Stevie
was a big fan of Rocky's, which knowing that dude as I did, probably meant little to him.
Well, SRV was the first to get "a pass"
from my committee of associates. Once in a while real news is made,
and this kid got a banner headline.
Sadly, in my own stupid, narrow bias, I failed to really pay attention to him
until he'd left the building. I'm sorry about that.
Which reminds me of the time
I had just left my attorney's office and was walking north on
Madison Avenue when I stopped for the red light at 61st Street.
Standing next to me was what appeared to be a lawyer and his client
waiting for the same light to change.
As it did a very good looking woman started walking toward us in the opposite
direction, and as she passed, I distinctly heard the client say
"Boy, would I like to screw her!!"
The lawyer, picking up on the comment responded
"Outa what??"
Of what??
modified for general audiences, yes
Odetta/Ernie Ford - What A Friend We Have In Jesus
Myth, once again, being
redundant one more time; it's All About the Benjamins.
If it's marketable and the owners are inclined to press the issue,
acts get in, and the boys reap the increased value from the hoopla.
Ernie Ford??
Now there's a "pea-pickin'" good time!
Sister Rosetta Tharp - Strange Things Happening
It took 18 years into the current century
for the R&R Hall of Fame to recognize this amazing
pioneer of the idiom to come!

Myth, IMO, it's a bogus institution
run by people with a non musical agenda.
They write about it, promote it, broadcast it and certainly
profit from it, but they never played Rock & Roll for
a living. The recently defrocked Jann Wenner, typifies
those people. When his full history and involvement become
public, the Hall & the hype it generates will be far less accepted
as the appropriate place to honor the true creators of the form as it evolved.
(Again, only my opinion)
Irma Thomas - Time Is On My Side
& "adopted."
Mike Campbell with David Fricke trailer
It was the B side of
Hit The Road Jack, released in late '61.
I assume that "incident" might have been a partial inspiration.
EXTRA sensory, it seems.
Sleepy Hall's Melody Boys - If I Can't Have You
Ray Charles - Danger Zone
.....after, 75, Myth,
the realization hits that there isn't "always next year!"
I watched the entire thing, cap.
I see why you like them so much. Not totally my
cup 'o tea, but respect to their musicianship. I liked
the bass player. He was obviously influenced by Jaco Pastorius
You guys really seem to like those "gold tops.!"
.
I will, cap
Yeah, sometimes it just happens.
The Gap Band - You Dropped A Bomb On Me
Dr. John - Somebody Changed The Lock
Elmore James - The Sky Is Cryin'
Joe Liggins The Honey Dripper
Tower Of Power - Squib Cakes
Jim Pepper - Comin' & Goin'
Otis Redding - I Can't Turn You Loose
Sam Cooke/ Soul Stirrers - Jesus Be A Fence Around Me
