silversmith,
I do not agree on your first paragraph...
but I do 100% agree on the 2nd par...
>>>The whole, near pandemic, corona virus thing is going to push things along for metal AM. There was already a wide global shift toward moving production closer to consumers. And now the virus driven global supply chain breakdown, which is growing ominous for production companies the world over, will make it clear that the way things are now is not acceptable. Single supplier, just in time delivery is now being revealed as very susceptible. I think things will speed up for metal AM serial production as a result. And SGLB is needed to make it happen. <<<
Made In China do have already a very negative image and this is not good for business...
ViperSteve,
>>>Kanya - totally understand its Ruports show. My question was around when does he also become CEO and JR is not any longer. Maybe JR is a board member only and ride it out that way.<<<
I think this is not really important in the moment.
Ruport runs the show and he will also make all necessary deals...
JR only needed to sign the papers...

Article without mentioning Sigma but interesting
https://techcrunch.com/2020/02/28/relativity-space-expands-its-rocket-printing-operations-into-an-enormous-new-long-beach-hq/
The company’s 3D printers aren’t like the simple ones used for rough prototyping, but enormous, carefully monitored robot arms that perform real-time analysis of the metal they are laying down.

Per the update, CAVS will install PrinteRite3D on a Renishaw AM400 machine, a new OEM platform for Sigma Labs, further proving the interoperability potential of PrintRite3D’s platform to an increasingly large machine base.

...again: Ruport is now the leader:
Sigma Labs Executive Chairman Mark K. Ruport said in the news release. “They have agreed to act as a test bed for new product improvements to PrintRite3D(R), uniquely allowing us a real-world feedback loop to continuously improve our technology suite. I look forward to working with the entire team at CAVS to bring a new level of quality assurance to both their partners and the additive manufacturing industry as a whole.”

Melissa Orme, VP Boeing Additive Manufacuturing giving the keynote in Birmingham, UK, at today’s Additive Manufacturing for Aerospace and Space Conference.
Boeing believe the market for AM Aerospace and defence is non linear and continuing to grow. Growth drivers divided into three categories; systems and large scale hardware, UAVs and drones, & Space.
Melissa notes a key challenge to be machine consistency- a machine bought two years apart with the same model should be the same machine, but they aren’t!
Key elements to develop; new generation of engineers for design, data driven approaches for consistent output, and scalable solutions.
In terms of digital thread, Boeing collect key data in each area.
The Boeing AM strategy was also shared, with specifications, parameters, design allowances and qualified machines as Boeing core competencies.
Melissa viewed support structures as ‘the most under rated part of powder bed’.

Todays PR resolves another uncertainty...well-done and fast IMO...
>>>kanya, The recent 8-K resolved one of the uncertainties.... 1 down, more to go.... glta! <<<
...so now Ruport can concentrate on the sales side of his appointment...
silversmith,
>>>Untold new technologies go through what we, SGLB and PR3D are going through right now with the whole story of whether PR3D will be used widespread in industry. In fact, almost all new tech faces the same thing. I am reminded of the whole story of Westinghouse backing Nicola Tesla and AC voltage vs JP Morgan backing Thomas Edison and DC voltage in the cliff hanger over whether the world would go with AC or DC lighting bulbs. The Niagara Falls power plant selection of Westinghouse/Tesla was the tipping point, and AC current won the day. This is the same thing today for SGLB with the likes of Airbus et al. Some things never change.
But I like our chances here. And I am not too overly worried about the recent financing. If PR3D goes into production the financing dilution won't be much of an impact. Short term it sucks. The price drop we experienced since the preferred sale was telegraphed in the offering statements. It is a long proven method of hedging and risk reduction on the part of investment capital firms to short a good chunk of the shares, and that is exactly what our financiers did. No doubt in my mind about it. They short the stock now, and cover later with the shares they get when they convert the preferred. It lets them all sleep better at night. I moved a bunch of shares out of the way before it happened, and I will be adding them back when it all settles down, and the wash rule expires.
Things are still good to go here, but it all sits on the head of a pin.
All the best,
Silversmith <<<

wickw50,
>>>Imo, JR never understood the technology, and after 1 1/2 years he realized that. So, it took another 6 months to find someone who might... hence Ruport.
Now Ruport wants some companies to review it.... duh....
IMO, the software will not, to this day... 5.0, or newer will not guarantee a 100% aerospace product. Why? Not enough “smart” engineers/programmers.... simply not enough brain power to make it happen. Sigma is too small to make this happen. JMHO<<<
What you post is pure speculation and most probably not true...
Two Geniuses are enough to supply the necessary brain power (one metallurgical physics and one programmer).
If the actual programmers can not make it happen, what I do not believe, Ruport will bring in that Genius...
and do not forget, yes Sigma is small but was smart enough to get all those patents approved...
