I might be right behind you there around $32.50 Richard
Volume is also picking up mid-day
What's with the movement today? Just following the overall market?
Ah okay gotcha. That would have been fun.
Did anyone ever end up going to that AAL I-hub "meet and greet" someone organized earlier this year I think it was?
I remember last year I was just swing trading the weekly fluctuations when it was under $4 a share. I skimmed several hundred dollars per trade and thought I was making out like a bandit haha! Man am I glad I stayed.
Haha hey a car is a car. I bought my shares with savings I had coming out of college. Stupid decision to make at the time but obviously the reward was well worth the risk in hindsight. I just won't do that again!
"It was like losing a new car, a new truck, a new boat, and a new house each and every day"
I can't even fathom having that many shares. My only regret was not buying more AAMRQ when I had the chance.
Love seeing green on my entire portfolio today. I've gotten used to AAL being the red-headed step child of my holdings. Great way to end the week.
32.97! Great close on the day, let's keep this momentum! Earnings report in 7 days and we're going to laugh at those buying in at mid $30's prices for the first time thinking they are getting in early. Can't wait to tell them I picked up each share for the price of a candy bar.
Oh trust me I feel your pain. That's just my opinion.
I think of it this way when I'm skimming off the top... What do I think is going to happen in the long term? With AAL, I'm bullish. So even if I hold my fluff longer than I intended and it initially declines, that "fluff" will just become a part of my core shares until I can sell them for a profit along with the original shares I had for the long run.
But again to each their own, that's just my thought process.
With earnings coming out next week, fuel prices down... if it were me, I'd wait.
Sounds like I need to upgrade from a cash account at some point!
Side note: whatever happened to Rocco?
Haven't seen that guy post in a long time. He's the one who really kept me in it through the merger.
That's a great idea. Just keeping your AAL money working for you. Unfortunately I didn't invest more early on!
How will you spend your American gains?
Green days like this with AAL always get me thinking... Just kicking tires here... when the day does come that we all take profits (god help every other shareholder when guys on this board collectively closes their positions haha!), what's your plan with your capital gains? Trip you've always wanted to take? New Car? Re-invest in another 10-bagger?
Thinking I might pick up a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon I've always had my eye on...
Are you trading or are you investing?
I think this whole thing comes back to basic principles. There is no doubt by anyone that the fundamentals of this company are solid. Regardless of how the market has rewarded such fundamentals the past month or two, American Airlines is stellar.
If you are looking to trade AAL shares, not invest in AAL as a company, I too, might be concerned with the recent drop in momentum and stock price.
The AAMRQ conversion/merger was life changing for me as I know it was for others as well. I'm bullish for the long term and know that at the end of the day, when all of the dust settles, a great performing company will be rewarded by the market. My personal fault is constantly checking the stock price as if I was looking for an exit point. I'm sticking with this stock at least through the end of the year personally, and need to just let it ride.
For me, and others who invested initially with AAMRQ, the downside potential is miniscule compared to the up. Just my two cents...
Additional Share Distribution
Sorry to ask as I'm sure this has been answered, but I've been out of the game for awhile. Any word on an extra distribution towards the end of June?
Listening to the webcast....I thought this was a meeting for shareholders, not an HR and benefits session.
I agree. I think the story has just been started.
Pump? Please tell me you weren't surprised that "l2 hunter" was full of it.
Best part of that is no matter how well the business does, you are basically using free money to fund it. Best of luck to you. I'll probably at least until I hit my long term cap gains rate to sell, but even then I may just hold onto this for awhile.
Absolutely. I was swing-trading this stock between Feb and Aug of last year before I decided to bunker down in a long position. At my age the last thing I want to do is something stupid with it; unfortunately a common practice. Appreciate the support and congrats to everyone!
With this volume of trading I wouldn't say he's totally pumping, but I think we'd all prefer if he stopped posting.
Haha as another user pointed out, I mean that because of the thought that a bankrupt stock can deliver such results. I don't think I'm making the kind of earth-shattering returns that some of you did, but I bought at $4.20, and for someone just out of college this has been my cash cow!
You wouldn't define a 20% reduction in stock price as a sell off? Let me guess, it's the market makers that are doing this?
Big sell of right now... my broker is going to yell at me for how many times I've changed my stop haha.
Agreed. We all have stock quotes, we can read the prices and the charts.
Sad to say this stock has single-handedly turned my life around financially. Greatly appreciate all of everyone's input to keep us informed of what's going on. Especially to Rocco!
I don't post much but I read this board every day. Keep it up!
I just love how after the 3rd distribution we are still asking the same questions as the 1st..
Nah, just be buying and selling my shares.
Long or Short Term on AAL?
I bought this stock originally last March trading throughout last year capitalizing on the daily extreme price fluctuations. I then planned on holding my shares through the merger and sell them off after our final distribution in April.
Now after researching the financials, listening to Doug Parker, I think I'm in this for the long run.
Question, are you guys thinking of selling off your shares after the last distribution, or are you planning on holding as this company slowly becomes a Blue Chip?
You guys can laugh at me. Bought into the news, thankfully got out breaking even. I was that guy today.
.0007! Where's this volume coming from? Btw Gulf Shores, I'm on Perdido Key.
Distribution's Effect on Stock Price.
Excuse my ignorance here, but I'm unsure if these distributed shares we're receiving are being issued on the spot or are already outstanding. Will these distributions have a negative effect in the long run on stock price by way of diluting the demand by creating a greater supply driving down prices?
