Dude-something crazy happened yesterday…. NYSE glitches, my sister's plane in TX (and 350 others) were grounded for hours also due to a 'glitch', power blipped here in SC, while a transformer blew at my husband's steel mill, stranding a bunch of ppl in a crane, all at the same time.
Cool…. 40k and a new hire soon :)
What does that mean for us?
I noticed they had to change that too-- GE was pissing me off with that last year. [They are notorious for just appropriating IP]. Mark & Vivek are no dummies…. they not only defended their IP (which, btw- our quarterlies and 10ks always acknowledge the importance of this…] they not only defended their IP but have spread it out in such a way that they've given two huge, multinational competitors two different halves of the product- meaning if one big dogs tries to appropriate things illegally, our 'big bro' on the other side will step in, in defense of us, and vice versa, so as not to give their competitor an advantage. Getting on board with Honeywell was one of the most genius moves they've made, IMO- especially now that Honeywell is publicly pre-ordering our product and presenting jointly…. I assume that may light a fire under GE for announcements in the fall, since we're slowly starting to get recognized as desirable. Without that, they more than likely would just sweep us under the rug- maybe buy some modules, but quietly, while trying to negotiate absorption at a lower price….. I don't think that's Mark's endgame…… To describe your ideal model as Intel Inside belies some lofty goals indeed, and he's been orchestrating this one steadily and stealthily, like a grandmaster playing chess, IMO. Multiple products, multiple clients (who have provided a lot of the space/testing/operational funding we otherwise would have had to do on our own), grants, gov't inroads, the Los Alamos pipeline…. to say nothing of Europe--- Materialise, Additive Industries, etc. And who knows what's going on in Asia….. *rubs hands together and grins*. I get super impatient, too- been here since .028 years ago, but whenever I get frustrated, I have to remind myself how early we still are.
Rome wasn't built in a day…..
Microsoft…..1986…… lol.
Hear, hear! :)

Wonder if we'll get any news tomorrow/this week…. I would imagine DEFORM should be coming up sometime this month. [I believe it was described as coming Late 2/Early 3Q?] I would think post July 4th weekend to mid month would be a great time. The usual big AM events I think start in August…. but they ought to put out something soon if they want to sustain any momentum this summer. Also- aren't Rockwells options coming due soon?
I think he legally has to be in order to do any design work with Arete. Someone has to assume legal responsibility. All engineering co's have to have at least one PE, so if it's not him it's someone on his team.
Who are glasses, chubby, and the other old guy in the back? Just curious.
Fingers crossed :)
Arete with oil and gas industry
1st off-Arete (by itself) is listed as a partnership so there must be at least one more person (possibly his wife Molissa, who is also an engineer, and the guy Tim Bell who keeps liking everything?).
Also- found this little nugget on the company linked in:
He's also a PE- I assume in mechanical- which would be needed when actually DESIGNING parts, to sign off on it. Cola probably isn't as comfortable doing that as he is a Metallurgical engineer- though there's a lot of overlap, so he can do it- they probably wanted an expert so he could focus on the rest of the business. I imagine this guy designed a lot of the contract work for Morris and maybe GE- can't tell from his title @ GE what exactly he did there for that year and some change.
Yes! Thank you.
Agreed. I read it as it will handle the manufacturing and design side of things. Print Rite SALES are still in our exclusive tent. Though I suppose if a customer was pleased and wanted to purchase the set up based on the work of Arete-Sigma's design/consulting/printing/delivery/proof of success; whoever pitched the sale and succeeded would probably make a commission. Otherwise all module sales all still ours. IMO.
Lol I thought that too- at first I was like, ah just another Joint Deve- oh wait…. this is actually a concrete spinoff company.
I like how you've now more accurately revised the number of our employees… I believe a few weeks ago you were saying we only had 4, three of whom were 'consultants.' lol. Now we've somehow doubled, plus whatever employees Arete has to contribute.
This operation requires way less people than you may think. We're not talking some massive assembly line- but small 'off the shelf' hardware components, plus software, which a handful of people could easily do- even with a lot of orders. Remember our orders for PrintRite modules will initially (I'm fairly certain) be in the tens, not thousands.
I will still refer to the two engineers I knew in KY who did installation and hardware modification as well as wrote the software for robotic manufacturing- that is, making sure 'off the shelf' factory equipment was specialized to a given company's needs- with big name clients like :
Watson Pharmaceutical
Toyota Motor Manufacturing
Bosch Braking Systems
Trim Masters, Inc.
Fanuc Robotics of North America
Cardinal Health
Catalent Pharmaceutical
Whirlpool Corporation
Bayer
Honda Motor Manufacturing
Osram Sylvania
Texas Instruments Automotive
Alcoa
LG&E
Dayton Power and Light
and that was just TWO people- by themselves in a tiny office- with no additional staff.

Maybe they just liked our Greek name…. ;)
This is so awesome! This is wayyy better than a JTDA- it's actually a jointly owned company to add to our umbrella :). I think they are preparing to ramp up their manufacturing in a BIG way. And yes- another Morris connection…. :) Me likey.
GE contract with Sigma Labs re: Additive Manufacturing
http://3dprint.com/37649/sigma-labs-contract-ge-am/
The GE/ SGLB history:
watch minutes 19:30-21 ish
Anyone know if yesterday's .09 trade really happened EOD, or was it leftover from earlier and just showed up @ 4:03?
DEFORM today… would make me really happy :)
I'm seeing that in my 'extended hours' on E-Trade, though I thought there are no 'extended hours' on the OTC? Strange. The closing in the box still says .07825 but up top it says 'Last: .09; bid: .095' Real Time Extended Quote 4:03 pm…. Maybe it'll update here in a min at 4:15…. ?
That would be nice.
Isn't that the 3rd time those 'feature films' have been transferred? I think the Co. is just moving them around again…. I mean these look pretty awful. Click on the logos for clips…. http://www.luxdigitalpictures.com/site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=12&Itemid=28
1. That's a lot better than the 3-4 you said we had earlier. 2. I just read about a company in Entrepreneur magazine that makes the bar equivalent of those automated super customizable soda machines but for alcohol/mixed drinks- something called the 'Monsieur'. They started with three ppl and super minimal funding; grew to 11 this year, just pulled in 3 million in revenues off their home version (~$4,000) and now are brokering deals with casinos, cruise lines, restaurants selling commercial versions for $10,000 apiece, with an additional monthly maintenance fee for the software package. It takes a lot more 4-10,000s to hit 3m than it does a handful of PrintRites, and while I know the product is totally different, the model is at least somewhat similar (base price for machine+software licensing/maintenance, and a similar sized staff)

I was referring to Additive Industries. [I don't really think that they would just throwing it out there]. Honeywell has never been a concern of mine- they seem to be pretty straight shooters. GE has historically been bad to their engineers (source: actual employees) but Morris seems to have been fairly consistent- if a little off-putting when my husband and I met him last year. Hopeful it all plays out in our favor.
Unless it's like what Bill Gates did to Steve Jobs….
Nice buy!
Right but if companies are paying for the new LEAP engine (benefits from Additive fuel nozzles and all) they can't just go back to the old way all of a sudden; that would be false advertising.
And didn't you just say if you were GE, you'd have Print Rite being tested out 18 months ago? [2 yrs, sounds about right….]
I was under the impression the nozzles were redesigned in a way that they can only be done additively? Or am I thinking of what Morris did with one of the turbine blades? [He had a big thing about it at the speech I saw.]
This is simulation, not real-time monitoring. It can simulate the entire build process. More like 3DSIM than our technology.
That team page is very old and not comprehensive… There are more actual employees than that. If you call their phone line you get a menu with 10 names
Also there is David Clark:https://www.linkedin.com/in/ddclarknm
Alberto Castro, our Application Engineer since 2014 (who previously was a 'hardware technician' for b6 Sigma 2007-- never realized).
And, a month ago, Sigma Labs posted a job for a staff accounts manager:

They also had a contract from them in the past…. http://b6sigma.com/index.php?mact=News,cntnt01,detail,0&cntnt01articleid=29&cntnt01origid=53&cntnt01returnid=59
Personally I expect a Deform announcement in the next couple weeks. Just a gut feeling. I feel like they maybe were waiting until the presentation. Idk if it will be a full commercial launch or just an update but I do expect we'll hear something soon. I believe Mark described it as 'imminent' at one point; and we've already 'sold' it [pre-release] to Honeywell. I know the adage is sell in May but we may get a June mover before the doldrums kick in. [I do expect a bit of downward drift this summer, but think we'll get a last good 'pop' before it happens.] The fall, however, should be amazing. My two cents. :)I'm always torn at these times whether to sell and buyback or just hold and add. I wish I'd played my cards right last summer- would have about 4x the shares I do now. :/ I don't have a lot of $ to just add and add [especially since we close on a house Wed so there's everything that goes with that, these next several months.] The temptation to avg. down is real. We'll see what the next few weeks bring. I always hold a core (to keep an eye on things mostly!).
I believe it was mentioned in the Q or CC before this one as well? The 12-18 month timeframe was being talked about before our CC last week; I just don't remember where it originated.
The announcement was made in December of 2014; so 12 months from last Dec is q4 this year. I would not worry. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/sigma-labs-signs-technology-cooperation-agreement-with-additive-industries-300007213.html
Anyone expecting this to move the price tomorrow?
According to our CC it will.
Idk- I think independent validation of quality (as Mark said) by a 3rd party is kind of important liability wise, personally. Not sure if it would hurt us that much. I would want uniform quality certificates for all my machines if I was a big customer (like GE) with lots of different brand machines, plus the benefit of putting PrintRite on the older machines (without having to buy all new ones) and still being able to assure quality. My two cents.
