Hi everyone. I don't normally post, but I do read them most everyday...have for a while now. I have some insight that might shed some light as to the direction of WNBD, which some might find useful, or not........you decide.
First I must share with my experience with dealing with Walmart....I have a friend who makes custom pool cues, and has most his life. he decided he wanted to sell these pool cues to walmart. I was lucky enough to tag along when he went to Bentonville, AR. to meet with them.
These people are bullies. They prey upon weakness. If they do accept your product, they'll give you a price....take it or leave it. That price will be nowhere near what you might have in mind. Very intimidating experience to say the least. My friend needed them more than they needed him. This is their perception.
My point is this : This guy Eric is very intelligent. He understands the first rule in business....NEVER NEGOTIATE FROM WEAKNESS ! IMO Eric refuses to be bullied or intimidated by these big corporations. I realize WNBD has an account with Walmart and Home Depot in canada. In the U.S., he seems to be targeting their competitors, such as Costco, which has been tauted as the next walmart. Eric is in negotiations with Lowe's, which is the largest competitor to Home Depot. Let us not forget all the other smaller chain retailers from different markets. There was a pr not too long ago where he references having better leverage down the road. IMO, I believe what he was talking about is somewhere along these lines.
If I am incorrect, feel free to correct me. I welcome all opinions, insights and facts.
