STONY BROOK, NY, April 29, 2014. Applied DNA Sciences, Inc. (OTCQB: APDN), (Twitter: @APDN), a biotech firm that provides DNA-based authentication and security solutions and services, announced today that its anti-theft platform based on SigNature® DNA, has played an important role in the conviction of 88 malicious criminals in the United Kingdom, jailing these gang members for a total of 448 years.
An estimated $40,000 in stolen cash from three separate robberies is being returned to an APDN customer, a major armored car and cash transportation company. All the cash was marked by SigNature DNA and recovered from criminals by police. APDN forensically linked the cash to specific robberies thus providing police with clear evidence to help convict the criminals and also enable the cash to be returned to its legal owner.
On November 18, a law enforcement official in Liverpool revealed that the convicted criminals used guns, machetes, and crowbars in their robberies; their victims "ranging from middle aged security guards--forced to quit their job out of fear--to school children," according to the official. (Source: Gary Stewart, Liverpool Echo).
"All these victims are probably scarred for life. All probably are now looking behind them when they hear footsteps," the official added.
SigNature DNA is deployed in strong boxes used to transport cash and other valuables to and from banks. When the boxes are opened improperly, the cash, and often the criminal himself, is marked with DNA, linking him directly to the crime, and leading in many cases to court convictions.
Tony Benson, Managing Director, EMEA, for Applied DNA Sciences, commented, "We are proud to be part of the effort to punish and deter these vicious criminals, protect the banks and transport companies and their employees, and return stolen cash to our customers. This demonstrates a clear return on investment in our SigNature DNA platform in both peoples' safety and in financial terms."
APDN's SigNature DNA-based platform has significantly expanded in Europe during the last year. It is used in Sweden to protect cash and valuables in transit for the Swedish transport company Nokas, AS. It is distributed in Poland by the security company Centralne Biuro Zabezpieczen´ (CBZ) and is used to protect ATMs and teller stations widely in Europe.
In areas where SigNature DNA is used by law enforcement, there has been a 75% reduction in attacks and cash losses to theft. One officer in the United Kingdom, Kent Police Detective Constable Paul Walker stated: "Our operations make use of a wide variety of the most efficient policing techniques and technologies. Products based on SigNature DNA have been among our most effective tools."

Very interesting A1, hummmm...
I think (with trepidation) once we demonstrate a few (as in 3 or more) qtr->qtr->qtr++ revenue increases we will see SP appreciation again.
Regardless of Phase II award success the DLA seems intended on persistent utilization of DNA. There just not comfortable with a sole tech.
We are the best Tech but it wouldn't hurt to acquirer/develop the next best Tech since it's what our biggest customer wants.
Each branch of the Mil. may roll their own and that may be a good strategy. No reason to be locked into providing just one solution.
Two things caused the SP to drop.
Todays PR.
I added a lot more shares back when .1204

Sounds simple enough: repost/refresher link to Phase I award.
I don't doubt our capability... OAMOT
The award is a Phase I (feasibility) grant, typically followed by a competition for Phase II (implementation) and Phase III (commercialization) grants. Said Dr. Hayward: "We are optimistic that we will be able to take this research project through implementation and move to the commercialization stage."

Effective by meaning defeating counterfeiting. Weighing the bottom line between anti counterfeiting vs. cost of lost revenue due to counterfeiting/product liability/product recalls/reputation damage is beyond my expertise.
Can I do a call-out ???
Effective.
Unable to compare cost but our tech is better than their tech(s)...
The 18 month pre DLA Mandate trial proved that.
Apparently counterfeiting Lottery tickets is common.
( can you still trust the convenience store scratch-off purchase ? )
Video(s):
Move over existing player in polyolefins anti counterfeiting.
We should do competitively well in this vertical:
http://www.ptonline.com/products/materials-celanese-offers-anti-counterfeiting-technologies-for-engineered-materials
Thanks McS, thats a burn rate faster than 12 mos.
I want to add more but with my luck when I do they would announce new financing.
Next Quarterly due out by May 10th. I may wait until after that to add more unless we drift lower.
If they continue with a 12 month rev projection I will defenetly add more if the reported cash holds up.
I would like to see an average of 3 mil shares per day so if the need to cash out some shares w/o tanking the SP exists.
OAMOT
Hey WT, I recall the good Dr. saying (paraphrasing) that their strategy is to use the military association to provide credence to our product(s).
Basically, while relatively less lucrative than other verticals it was deemed important to first seek this validation.
I believe we have now been validated and they are "picking" their vertical targets with profit potential in mind.

Yea Mike if people place a sell limit order in at a ridiculously high price it would take those shares out of availability.
Those available shares are some poor slobs shares sitting there idle.

Sounds very promising Yip - thanks for sharing...

Applied DNA Sciences Receives US Patent for fiberTyping®
"Methods for Genetic Analysis of Textiles made of Gossypium barbadense and Gossypium hirsutum cotton."
STONY BROOK, NY, March 19, 2014. Applied DNA Sciences, Inc., (OTCQB: APDN), (Twitter: @APDN) (the "Company"), a provider of DNA-based anti-counterfeiting technology and product authentication solutions, announced today that the US Patent and Trademark Office issued patent no. 8,669,079 for the company's fiberTyping® authentication of cotton-based products.
The patented technology enables forensic identity testing of Extra Long Staple ("ELS") Cotton, without pre-marking or additional preparation, and has been used successfully for more than five years by a range of large cotton organizations, with hundreds of samples tested including raw cotton fiber, greige yarn and fabric, finished fabrics, garments and other premium cotton-based apparel sold by retailers worldwide. It is currently used by cotton trade organizations, as well as mills based in China, India, Pakistan, Egypt, Peru and the Americas.
The analysis, much quicker than traditional testing methods which can take one to two weeks, determines whether a garment conforms to claims that it contains ELS - often called Pima - cotton. fiberTyping also can determine whether the cotton is blended rather than pure.
The technology allows cotton producers, manufacturers, retailers and brand owners to authenticate the original cotton DNA used in a wide range of cotton products, from bed linen, denim, shirts, and pants to other apparel. Large retail organizations are conducting fiberTyping tests, in large volume, in direct response to the need to assure quality and compliance.
This patented technology opens up tremendous possibilities and industry leadership for Applied DNA Sciences in terms of confirming the authenticity of cotton products, and providing a definitive means for the industry to protect the integrity of their supply chains. Specifically, the benefit of fiberTyping means that:
Growers can sell more premium cotton
Manufacturers can produce better quality items
Retailers can deliver a high quality array of branded products
Brand owners can ensure quality and reinforce loyalty
Consumers can make informed decisions to purchase better quality items from brands and retailers they can trust because authenticity can be guaranteed
With the ever-changing demand for cotton fiber, the need for fiberTyping continues to grow rapidly. In December 2013, Applied DNA Sciences announced the successful launch of SigNature® T DNA (external DNA marker) working together with Supima to mark and identify nearly 50 million kgs of raw American Pima at all stages of the supply chain, including finished garments at the retail level.
Applied DNA Sciences is championing the use of fiberTyping as a complementary method of authentication providing another layer of forensic evidence to confirm original fiber content.
"This new patent will allow Applied DNA Sciences to help more organizations, especially brands and retailers, as they work to improve, globally, their resilience against counterfeiting, and protect the purity of their supply chains. The number of premium cotton-based products that we are testing that, despite labeling, do not contain any ELS is disturbing, but there is a solution that we know will help improve quality, and assure compliance," said James A. Hayward, President & CEO, Applied DNA Sciences.
He continued: "fiberTyping enhances the ability of brands and retailers to verify high quality products, and we are gratified that our work has been recognized with a U.S. patent."
This patent is part of Applied DNA Sciences' robust intellectual property portfolio which includes 23 issued patents and 36 patents pending, 28 registered trademarks and 2 pending trademarks, along with its confidential and proprietary trade secrets and know-how.
