DXO Thanks for the heads up, Ico. I have some and can't believe I thought it was an ETF.
Ico, time to turn the tv back on. Erin Burnett is doing her show from Hong Kong.
Ico, I left my tv on this morning because I wanted to hear the interview with the TEVA CEO. He's attending the annual meeting of the Generic Pharma Assoc at the Ritz Carleton in Naples, Florida, where rooms start at $400, so its not just the banking execs that have extravagant expense accounts. Nothing else exciting in the interview. I always turn my tv off when Kudlow comes on.
re Dick Bove, came across this yesterday:
March 20, 2008
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- The financial crisis is over, giving investors a rare chance to buy bank stocks at attractive valuations, Punk Ziegel & Co. analyst Dick Bove said Thursday.

Hi Ico, My produce market has a sign in the banana section that due to severe worldwide weather there may be a supply problem with bananas but they will try to keep reasonably priced bananas. I was interested to see they only had Dole and Delmonte, no Chiquita.
GLD BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--State Street Global Markets LLC, an affiliate of State Street Global Advisors (“State Street”) (NYSE: STT - News), and World Gold Trust Services, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the World Gold Council (WGC), today announced that assets in the SPDR® Gold Trust (NYSE Arca: GLD) have surpassed $30 billion, making it the second largest ETF by assets in the world.

This part makes great sense to me:
"So if you took over a big bank, and you split the assets in three or four pieces, maybe you create three or four regional or national banks, and they're stronger! Nationalization -- or 'temporary receivership,' if you like, if the N-word is a political liability -- is an occasion to undo the sort of consolidation that has created an even bigger systemic problem. And the only way to do it is by essentially taking them over and breaking them up."
The markets might be happier if it was always referred to as 'temporary receivership"
I had a surprise when I received my "Powershares DBA tax package for 2008" Included is schedule K-1. I'll look at it more carefully when I start the taxes, but I assume it will be more complicated than the usual.
QID out @58.59
$COMPX Nov low is 1295, some support @ 1400. Bought some QID this am.
TSL. Thanks, Ico. definitely seems manipulated.
TSL Ico when you have a chance could you take a look at a 15' chart of TSL and tell me how to interpret the first candle today -- Huge red volume but price pretty much held. Thanks, Barb
$VIX back above 50.
Hi Bale, DSX is the only shipper I'm interested in now. I want to do some more shipping research this weekend. I have to be more patient. You'd think after 4 days of this choppy market I would stay out!
DSX Stopped out 12.69.
That man is an inspiration. I was especially interested because I know that grocery store. I have relatives that live nearby.
Bought some DSX on weakness this am. (13.11). They had a good earnings report earlier this week and a couple of upgrades.
FSLR. Hi Baby, are you still long FSLR. I bought today @132.50. 130 ish seems to be the bottom of the trading range this year and rising POO usually helps solar.
LOL, like all these folks who didn't understand their mortgages.
Thanks for posting the petition. I will very likely sign it after I read it. (Oops, this was meant for Early.)
Thanks for the article, MWM, it was very helpful.
I am so glad the market is closed and we have 3 days. I've been sitting at my computer too long and didn't have any good trades today and need to get moving.
Have a great weekend and a Happy Valentines Day!
XBI. Nice scalp.
Gapper = TSL
Thats terrible. My stops usually fill within a penny.
XBI. 54.8 isn't obvious to me. I would have thought under 54.79?? Good luck!
Thanks for the update. I'm watching.
Thanks! now I get it.
Will your new laptop be a Mac?
MWM, I don't understand. I see POO today at 37.24, March @37.94 and ea succeeding month higher.
PEET, I just noticed Peet's had good earnings yesterday.

XBI If you get it will you place a sell stop?
I'm glad to hear that oil is moving up, it usually helps the solars. Any idea why DXO is down?
OT. One exception to my previous post is Ken Lewis, BofA. I have no confidence in him and he's been with BofA through this whole mess.
Hi Paul. i have a different take on the bank execs. The grossly incompetent guys that presided over the outrageous risk taking are mostly gone/fired: Stan O'Neal, James Cayne, Dick Fuld, Charles Prince, Mozillo. These current guys inherited the mess and for the most part they seem good to me.
I have to turn the tube off when Kudlow comes on. It was so annoying this morning because I wanted to listen for news of stim passage but it was Kudlow AND Gasparino, so I turned it off.
Hey Ico, when you have time, I'd love to hear the good ideas about how to solve the mortgage related problems. Barb
Down. Sell the "news"
CSR Down 8% apparently on S3 filing for $125M in new shares
