article on Qtrax financial problems...
but says the AK said friday that they have secured more funding...
http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-10310731-93.html
chewy, you have lost it. I won't engage in back and forths with you about playing dirty. All I want and hope is for Qtrax to launch. You simply can't seem to understand the results of your public trashing of the company. You should have kept it on this board, at the very least, as opposed to raising hell on the Qtrax blog. Ridiculous.
dogcat, lucky is simply saying that your and other people's constant yelling and complaining was not good for pulling in more money from investors. You have been told that over and over and you have not caught on. Why don't you see that your public complaints are not a good thing for getting people in? If I have $10 million that I am on the fence about investing, and I read nothing but people like you trashing the ceo and company, valid or not, it is going to make me think twice. Get with it.
your conclusion shows your ignorance, once again. Nobody claims anything- people on this board just pass along what they hear. They disappear because they are disappointed in the outcome or that they simply have lives which require them to work more than follow this board. You have really shown some silly opinions, lately.
Why would there be an update? To me, the blog, in general, has been nothing but an added headache to the Qtrax team trying to complete their objectives. Say what you want, chewy, and I know you have best intentions, but if you really sit and think about it, none of this screaming from you guys has been a positive for them meeting their objectives. Yes, you have gotten some blogs and updates from them, but I would say the negatives appear to have outweighed the positives. You have spent your energy complaining out loud for the world to hear, instead of being creative with reaching the source towards whom your complaints should really be directed. I wish you would just allow the chips to fall where they may, instead of slowly knocking them down, yourself.
Thanks for the update, Darth. Hopefully he will have some good news Monday.
not sure he's in Asia, just my assumption. Wherever he is, I assume it's trying to finalize a deal. We will have to see.
Could be, but I think it's more about them finishing a financing deal than about the Oracle. AK did say in the blog (last week) that it would hopefully be within a week (or two) that it is all done. I am guessing that he is probably out meeting with his investors trying to close the final deal... Just my opinion, but I sure hope we will hear something soon... like by tomorrow.
Wayne Rosso discusses Pirate Bay...
http://www.themusicvoid.com/2009/08/can-the-pirate-bay-really-be-purchased/
Thanks. The article below discusses the possible hurdles of Spotify, as well as what it will do for the industry. If the bottom line is that there will be a subscription for portability, $10 or $15 or whatever, then I think it won't prevent Qtrax from still making a massive impact. (this is assuming they WILL launch).
There is obviously a massive market out there of people who do not want to pay, per month, to listen to music. This is why there are billions of illegal downloads. The hurdle will be to make the service attractive enough to people who are stealing, to come try a service that is legal. It will have to be smooth, not cumbersome, and extremely portable. This will be interesting to see.

I think that the spotify model is a bit "safer" and proven for big investors. With the ads, which are in between songs (except for the paid versions, etc.. it is closer to some of the current streaming services. It is a bit concerning to me, the portable part of it, but I just read that the price is unclear, and it is speculated to be in the £ 9.99 range, per month, or about $16 US? If this is the case for portability, than IMO there IS room for more than one.
But I agree that not only does Qtrax need to launch this thing, they need to launch it with force, and they are really behind the 8 ball. They have a steep hill to climb with the press, alone. If you 'google' qtrax and then do the same with spotify, it is as if there is no chance for Q. Like spotify is the savior. If Qtrax had half the positive press Spotify does, we would be well over 10 cents right now. The Apple factor is another obstacle- of course we don't know how that would even play for Qtrax. I sure hope they have an answer to this. They really need to get things rolling...
Pirate Bay deal not going forward...
http://www.themusicvoid.com/2009/07/exclusive-global-gaming-factory-pirate-bay-purchase-not-moving-forward/
chill out. I'm just sharing what was posted.
Thanks for sharing, Wayne! Because we didn't know about this already! Come on man, if you are going to follow this board, at least follow it consistently. ( I can't believe WR would be foolish enough to post that, so I assume it's some other hater).
avdi expects update after midnight tonight, so dogcat, you can go out to dinner tonight and maybe catch a movie.. eh?
Darth, thanks for sharing what you know. I, for one, really appreciate it. Just for the fact that you don't owe it to anybody on this board, but you share anyways. Hopefully things will get worked out. I'm glad you don't let negatives on this board deter you from sharing your thoughts..
Just watching.. trying to figure this all out. Seems very strange to me that Oracle would have a problems- can't imagine it just being about money, but with what they have invested in the company, you would think that Oracle would really want Qtrax to succeed- they have a huge interest. Sure would like to hear some thing from someone that really knows- I can't seem to get any info on it.

Thanks.. chewy, that's a rather vague couple of statements.. for something sounding so negative, can you at least be a little more specific? Vagueness should not be on the board in positive or negative ways, should it?
Give him a chance, guys. He DID say this week. It's Wednesday. We all have figured that they would not launch today, from what AK wrote in the blog. Don't be discouraged just because he's not keeping investors hub up to date by the minute. Let's assume he has more important things going on, preparing for a launch. If he doesn't come through by the end of the week, then unleash on him. I still think his blog sounded like a huge sigh of relief, and I'm confident.... extremely anxious, but confident.
Nobody in the world, other than us, really even knows they were planning to launch today. That is not even a concern to me.
thanks sir. That MV post is back up.. interesting.
funny thing... that music void article that luckybleu had posted about Wayne Rosso and Pirate Bay has 14 comments- all just quotes from the article copy in pasted... maybe to increase google hits or something? There was a comment on there yesterday where someone asked if the music void would write an article about Qtrax' launch, and how it would improve the MV credibility. That comment has been deleted.
Chewy- again, I understand your frustration and your skepticism, but enough is enough. I don't understand your purpose of venting and arguing. You are in. Vent at the qtrax site and maybe you will get some more info from AK. But I don't like the fact that as people start to hear some things about qtrax and there is a chance they come to this board to look up some things about qtrax and blln, they read post after post of you trashing the company. We know your feelings, but how about a little positive energy for a change? We've been over all of the negatives. Let's pull together for some unity and get some people on board with this thing. I have much more hope than I did a week ago.. and so should you.
why do you still think that the ipod is a deal breaker? come on, talk about no clue. with global availability, there will be dozens of manufactureres lined up to offer a product that does work with qtrax, even IF they don't work with ipods... which I think they will at some point. Regardless, it's not a deal breaker- you are crazy if you think it is.
good post, lucky...
I agree with you on the launch. IF they miss the launch, of course there will be some upset people, but in the big scheme of things, it doesn't really matter.. IF.. there is a legit reason. I have always thought that the best scenario will be if they launch with everything really working correctly. A worse scenario would be if they launch and there are so many flaws in the application that people start ripping it apart and giving up on it or just deleting the app from their computer- then you have to win those people back. If they haven't downloaded the app yet, make sure it IS right WHEN they dl it for the first time.
I agree on the announcements- not a great idea to set the date of the 22nd without having the $$$ secured. The rest of the issues can be worked out- people working the midnight shift, etc.. but if the funding was the issue, and it was out of their hands, don't promise something. With that said, if Darth is correct and things went well over in Asia, that could mean great things. If Warner catalog is loaded and the app just needs a flick of the switch, we could be looking at a nice week next week. Let's hope that's the case! If $$$ is the issue, maybe we can pay off a Dem in congress to get us some bail out $$ and Obama can appoint a Qtrax Czar to oversee the process... maybe Wayne Rosso;)
Twittered from Mike Firetti (on the board of Qtrax)
Qtraxman-
Hang in there Q fans.... nothing is easy, especially in this market climate but we'll get you to the FREE music promised land soon! Promise!
about 18 hours ago from web
Thanks, Germboy- I think things are all being put into place for a big day on the 22nd. I think, with the history of how things have gone, that we can't expect a lot before then, or even shortly after... this might take a little bit of time to build some confidence. Just my opinion and I am hoping to get a nice jump with some PR, but who knows what to expect until it starts really getting some attention.
hang in there, shot- believe me- working on the computer all day has caused me to hit refresh many times. I have to sometimes look up and say "serenity now"
they are not 'sending' it out, are they? They are posting it. probably to keep the sanity a bit, while they finish putting things together. I think they are at least aware of the fact that there will be complainers if they don't at least post some sort of update. They didn't say there would be a PR by the 6th, did they? The site is obviously down for a reason- let's give them the chance to make the PR really mean something. This PR should be bringing a lot of attention to the site- it should work like clockwork, right? If there are going to be millions of songs on there, let them be there WHEN the PR is put out.
shot, why send out a release only to direct people to a site that says, "dl's are unavailable why we upgrade our service"? That would not be very bright. Finish the upgrade first and then make the PR. Geesh.
It might be cached in your computer- it's a minor addition at the top of the page, I pasted below.. PK, I don't know about the PR... I would think they would wait until they have the site working- which it appears that they are still uploading the songs, or maybe some other part of the site to make it functional- this could be ads, etc... anyone's guess!
Corporate Update 07/06/2009
Qtrax, Inc. ("Qtrax") a division of Brilliant Technologies Corporation (BLLN.PK) today provided this corporate update.
Expansion of Music Catalogue
Contractual objective met. PR announcement to follow.
Licenses
Contractual objective met. PR announcement to follow.
I reckon that the service is STILL being upgraded. Looks like a good sign.
Criticizing the company is fair. The deadlines and promise criticism is fair, too, but you guys have definitely cut off some (what I would consider) good contacts to disappear. Plain and simple. Sure, they weren't always accurate, but they were the only glimpse you guys had into the minds of the company, and you guys cut them out by not playing your hands right. And I would say it's safe to say that this year and a half has gone by much more slowly for us, the ones closely watching out money, than it has for the world's view of the evolution of music. 10 years from now, we will be in such a different place than we are right now, technology wise, and we are right in the middle of a huge part of the change.
Looks like a massive upgrade to the site- still has the message on downloads- looks like they are at least working on meeting the goal of doubling the catalog. That is a good sign. I expect by Monday we will have a larger catalog and some sort of revised update on the site.
Music downloads are currently unavailable while we perform an upgrade to the service.
That's the new message on the application... used to say "technical reasons". Hopefully they are working all weekend for a big Monday.
Market is closed tomorrow, so maybe people will be getting in on the anticipation of a Monday morning (July 6th) update.. chewy... I am saying maybe, please don't jump down my throat.
