Wasn't there a Professor who used to post on the SPZI board about a year ago?
Any relation to this Bill Reid fellow? Same guy? Anybody know?
tia
gbathat
okay, actually the fund did quite well... just wanted to correct that error in my previous post
nevermind, this has been discussed on 141's board...
sorry for the clutter.
peace to all,
gbathat
okay, i officially have no idea what is going on... this article cites a track record that ends in May 2008
http://www.tradingsolutions.com/news/reid.html
Fund uses TradingSolutions to achieve outstanding results - over 230% in 17 months!
Bill Reid
Algorithmic Trading Advisors LLC
Mr. Reid is a University Professor and a trading advisor at Algorithmic Trading Advisors LLC who works exclusively with both TradingSolutions Real-Time and End-of-Day capabilities. Before moving to academia Bill was with IBM Corporation in the artificial intelligence area. A friend mentioned artificial intelligence might be to the point where it could trade investments. After trying many products Bill settled on TradingSolutions as the platform for developing these new advanced methods and techniques.
Mr. Reid says “the unique characteristics of TradingSolutions software have enabled our fund from multiple vantage points. TradingSolutions has leading neural process technology that can optimize trading models. Also these neural trained models can execute in Entry/Exits rule-based systems combining both neutral optimum models and rule based solutions.”
We use a very large portfolio so the ability to process with Quad Core technology and Vista 64-bit processing have enabled us to sustain this fund as the investment market moved in recession and continuing slowdown. NeuroDimension was able to add Vista support and then 64-bit processing on the multi-threaded TradingSolutions offering in a timely fashion. Keeping step with the latest technology has been critical to our success. With the recent addition of Trader68 it will make our fund easier to manage without manual transfers.
We train a very large portfolio of standard and proprietary functions using the Jordan-Elman Neural Network topology. The ability of this network to process complex contextual relations is a key. A rule based Entry/Exit system then selects portfolio neural trained entries are based on a combination of each company's recent record of profit growth; a composite rating (which includes key measures such as return on equity, sales growth and profit margins); and relative price performance over the last 12 months rules.
Skilled traders know it is much easier to enter the market correctly as it is to exit the market correctly. Our fund uses multilevel exit processing using stop-loss, trailing stop, trailing stop limit and limit market processing. This requires a prime broker who can process one-cancels-all market driven processing. From January 2007 to May 2008 the World Stock Fund: VAMI has had a return of over 231%!
The large portfolio is made up of stocks, ETFs and Commodity Funds. So far we have been just adding to the portfolio entries and the portfolio is getting large with roughly 2400 entries. Later this year we will have to find the methods and criteria to limit the portfolio size. There is a finite time between when the market closes and the market re-opens during the market week that limits the processing time and defines technology requirements.
We would like to thank Mr. Reid for taking the time to write-up his experiences and success with TradingSolutions and wish him many more great years of returns.
Allie, the contact on the site is Bill Reid. I'll try to find out who this charecter is...
My guess, Paul and Errol set this puppy up way back when and then passed the reigns to a buddy from Texas who needed a shell... looks like his world stock fund didn't do so well.

here's a start
please note the company size 10-50 employees and current position Global Business Development Manager
If you check his page regularly, you would notice that it changes slightly every so often as he updates it.
Peace,
Gbathat
why don't you do some dd and check their linked in pages which usually give you "current position" and other relevant info.
gloom and doom! ahhhhhhhhh!
good try.
I got an email from Mr. Hensel with no info other than "he still works for Spooz". It was about 10 days ago. I figured most people here knew that, so I did not share it at the time.
I think they are all (wisely) gagged with regard to talking to shareholders. To me, it is a sign of transition to a company of value, not just potential value.
Just my opinions, and time will tell.
Peace,
Gbathat
Spooz Europe
http://uk.local.yahoo.com/North_Yorkshire/York/Software_%2526_Games/2016895929-e-41415.html
might be a number worth calling just for kicks...
Hey MG,
Paul said they were not looking for money at that time, but would be looking for lots (10 mil? if I recall) in the spring.
Two people jetting with the proprietary software also changes business plans a bit, I reckon, and probably makes it even harder to raise money for the company.
I am not saying everything is grand in spoozland these days, and I am a bit unhappy that so much trust was placed in an employee who was relatively new to the company and whose work history was not fully scrutinized upon hiring.
However, I still feel strongly that this company will succeed based on my DD and that shared by others on this board. Admittedly, it was tough to go from owning shares in a company on the verge of great things, that was asked by Calyon Financial to speak on a panel at the FIA expo, to a company trading at .0001 . People get knocked down, but the strong get back up and keep on moving. At the end of the day, it is the same company it was before- it is just getting back up again.
Every time I open my Scottrade account, I realize that on the books I have "lost bigtime". But the fact is that for a few hundred bucks here and there, I actually increased my fractional ownership of the total o/s. In a year or two, who knows, maybe I'll actually have benefited from this painful period.
Peace,
Gbathat
10-4, thanks MG. I agree that it is an issue we should continue investigating. It seems like IW has done so on the tech side of things. I meant to put something in the shareholder mtg Q&A to get Spooz's opinion on the matter, but forgot to do so.
I have to say the omniquant video is a bit cheesy! You can see it if you click on the trial download links.
Good luck,
Gbathat
God grant me the serenity to deal with the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can and should; and wisdom to know the difference.
MG, it may look familiar, but Omniquant is nothing like Spooz on a professional level, imo.
I've tried calling their office several times during business hours and only received an answer once- it sounded like a kid, and he answered by saying, "Hey Jeremy?". I said "what??" and he said, "oh sorry, I was expecting a call from someone else... I'm in the middle of a demo right now, can I call you back?" (which basically means he was doing a demo and could not answer the potential customer's questions) to which I said, "I'm doing research on an investment, and you've just answered my question. Goodbye."
Their product may appear very similar to Spooz, but I get the impression that they will not be competitive with Spooz. Otherwise, we'd go after them, not vice versa. IW's excellent post fortifies my thoughts on the issue.
Just my opinion.

peeved, I think martingale bounces in and out of this stock when he feels the timing is right or wrong. I have noticed his posts can be a bit bi-polar in tone, though generally containing fairly accurate and oftentimes new (to me) dd. I know he is into xxis deep at this point, but I do not know if he is in Spooz right now... by his recent tone, perhaps he is trying to get into Spooz on the cheap.
Sorry mg, much respect, but had to say it.
peace to all,
Gbathat
yeah, looks good for now endub.
i was expecting higher volume at this time due to a share buyback on the open market, but if spooz has a buyback strategy in place similar to what was discussed on the xxis board for 141, then perhaps we won't see a buyback right away on the open market.
thanks for the info allie...
This is interesting in light of the mention of a buyback for spooz at their sh meeting... wonder if we'll see similar items in the spooz financials.
Peace,
gbathat
happy labor day all
see some are having to work to defend this stock today... I won't do it- I want the company to buy back cheap, so go on, bash away!!
:D just my opinions of course!
peace,
gbathat
agreed bird
the stars previously discussed could be aligning... if the bb is happening it is gonna be a tough op, as this little movement is probably already chumming the waters... could be interesting.
and why hold back those fins I wonder? perhaps they too will bloody the waters...
batton down dee hatches
gbathat
I just tried to order spzi via scottrade and they are not allowing any orders...
they will allow sells however
restructuring into spoozUS and Spooz Europe happening today? or soon?
just my guess
Thanks Philly Mike!

"Sample applications to help get you started. Less experienced programmers can develop and hone their applications using Excel before migrating to a more robust language."
hmmmmm....
I've been checking out what seems to be a revamped Interactive Brokers website and have noticed a lot of similarities between their Java-based platform Trader Workstation.
http://individuals.interactivebrokers.com/php/webhelp/webhelp.htm#Making_Trades/scale/autoscale.htm
I mean, like crazy similarities... such as a DASHBOARD...
"Trader Dashboard
The real-time Trader Dashboard is an optional tool that is displayed at the top of the pages tabset. This customizable panel allows you to monitor data fields from your Account Information window. You can also keep abreast of the most recent activity for specific contracts."
lots of stuff in the User's guide...
http://individuals.interactivebrokers.com/php/webhelp/webhelp.htm#Making_Trades/scale/autoscale.htm
Perhaps some more tech savvy folks who have seen Spooztoolz demos can comment on the host of other features with striking resemblance.

I find it interesting that Jim Hensel's title is GLOBAL business development manager. Is the "global" part new? I don't recall seeing that before.

Not sure how accurate or comprehensive this data is, but some potentially interesting trends, and perhaps something to keep an eye on when the retail launch gets here.
Thanks for the info LB. I hope your theories are indeed correct. Good luck sir.

buyback clause background info...
http://www.bizjournals.com/portland/stories/1997/03/24/smallb5.html
Thanks for your opinion LB... would such sales (from company to financier) show up on the ticker?
God grant me the serenity to deal with the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can and should; and wisdom to know the difference.
Thanks Phillymike... anybody execute buys today or have bids in?
Birdito, if the company was buying back shares, who would be the seller at .0001? I don't think the public would sell at that price at this point, jmo though.
If we see another hundred million shares traded or so, no o/s increase, and .0002, then we may be in the buyback zone. jmo.
peace,
Gbathat
If I am reading the charts right, looks like we have not quite burned through this last o/s spike noted by Philly Mike which occurred on July 31st or August 1st. Since that 400 million pop in o/s, there have been about 600 million buys and sells, or 300 million shares traded? Is that right?
Thanks,
Gbathat
o/s still at ~4.75 bil
a/s still at 5 bil
per old monmouth 15 seconds ago...
I think a steady a/s is encouraging at this point, but not going to get my hopes up too much.
Does anyone know the limit for amount of shares that can be bought back each day (not saying that is happening)?
Also, anyone get an o/s recently?
TIA,
Gbathat
thanks Bermellon, Allie, GP, et al. for the comments and more info.
I am not worried about the JV too much... would have been nice, but I agree that revenues should be the focus for now.
gbathat
smcc deal cancelled a while back
I think some here already knew about this, but here is verification.

Hi [gbathat], Sorry to say, SFB/SMCC terminated its letter of intent with Spooz a while back. You can contact Spooz for further information. Thank you and Good Luck to you as well.. Lee
some new symbology files at
http://www.theocc.com/initiatives/symbology/committee.jsp
nothing too meaty (that I can see), but perhaps a more technical board member will have some insights
The Townsend Analytics ( http://www.theocc.com/initiatives/symbology/townsend_analytics_OSI_presentation.pdf pg 4) presentation had a flow chart that looked similar to the SMCC flow chart ( http://spooztoolz.com/ContentDownloads/SMCC1.pdf ) but it incorporated Real Tick... no specifics on the trading system or symbol manager system... interesting... also a reference to FIX on pg 5, but admittedly over my head as far as interpretation.

Thanks Song... looking forward to any tidbits we can pull from it.
have a good day

Song, I think we wondering about those shares in early august since they showed up in the o/s but we did not observe them being traded... I think there was a bit of a delay between time of issuance(& o/s increase) and the sale on the market
jmo
gbathat
lol, thanks song... funny how some will dig through my old posts to try to indirectly discredit my opinion (not you, obviously:D)
for the record, my opinion is that the dilution has slowed down significantly since hitting August... is it over, I have no idea. But it is temporarily refreshing.
Let's hope that A/S stays at 5 bil. That'd be a great sign, imo.
peace to all,
Gbathat
o/s 4.765 billion
a/s 5 billion
per olde monmouth today at ~ 2 pm...
relatively stable, imo
anyone do an analysis of burn rate vs. dilution revenues lately? perhaps I will tonight.
thanks allie
what is your take on the uplisting comments?
