How late do NYSE stocks trade? I was under the impression trading ended at 6:30 pm. But this evening, in level II I observed an NYSE stock actively trading at late as 7pm eastern. Stock was XEL trading above 19. Is there some other exchange these can trade on later in the evening? Sorry for the dumb question, but I normally trade nasdaq stocks, seldom NYSE issues in the post market.
Thanks

Chavez threatens to cut off oil exports to US:
CARACAS: Venezuela's energy minister, Rafael Ramirez, said yesterday that Caracas is "ready and willing" to cut off its oil supply to the United States, if there are any signs of aggression from the superpower toward his country.
"We are prepared to do that, and we stand ready to defend our rights," Ramirez told the official news agency ABN.
On Sunday, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez threatened to end oil exports to the United States if Washington did not stop its "aggressions."
"We do not want to break relations with the US government; it is not in our plans," Chavez said. "But if the aggressions continue, ... this could put diplomatic relations between Venezuela and the United States at risk." Washington's attacks could provoke "something more serious:
These two daily boats full of Venezuelan oil could head another way instead of going to the United States," warned Chavez, whose country is the fourth-largest provider of oil to the United States, supplying some 1.5 million barrels a day.
"The US market is not indispensable to us," he told thousands of young people taking part in a youth festival at a Caracas arena.
Ramirez declared that Caracas, the only Latin American member of the Opec, had other clients to court, including China.
He admitted that cutting off Venezuela's oil supply to the United States would affect his country's economy, but he added:
"That is just the price we will have to pay to maintain sovereignty."
Chavez has become an increasingly outspoken critic of the United States, and accuses Washington of planning attacks against Venezuela, while the United States has accused Venezuela of funding efforts to destabilise Latin American neighbours and allowing weapons to cross into Colombia, whose government is battling a leftist insurgency.

ELOS up after hours, apparently on this:
The best laser stock to own, said Jim Cramer, is Syneron Medical (ELOS:Nasdaq - commentary - research). The company, which reports earnings on Thursday, may not have as much of the market as Candela does, but it still has 14% of the market. And it may not have the sequential growth that Candela has, but Syneron does something that the rest don't. It does cellulite.
The rest of the players are in the dermatological market. Syneron, on the other hand, smoothes away cellulite. Syneron does skin treatment as well, but it's the only company doing cellulite. What's more, another reason that Syneron will do well is that people who are in noncore markets -- general practitioners, for example -- are buying its devices. The general practitioners are making good margins by using the devices.
Cramer said investors should buy the stock ahead of its quarterly earnings release on Thursday.

3GSM: Nokia, Sony Ericsson Prepare Competitors to iPhone
ARTICLE DATE: 02.14.05
By Sascha Segan
CANNES, France—Will 2005 be the year we really start listening to music on our phones? Nokia and Sony Ericsson announced plans to put full-fledged music stores on their phones today at the 3GSM trade show, following up on Motorola's much-vaunted collaboration with Apple.
Nokia's announcement came as part of a startling partnership with Microsoft. Starting later this year, some Nokia phones (the first one in the US will be the Nokia 6682) will play Microsoft's WMA-format music, including protected songs downloaded from services such as Napster.com and Walmart.com. Microsoft's Windows Media Player, in turn, will start supporting Nokia's AAC music format and OMA digital-rights management copy protection. And Nokia phones will begin to appear as standard portable music devices in Windows Media Player on Microsoft Windows XP-based PCs.
"For a seamless experience around devices, it's hard to find a better cooperation than to cooperate with the king of personal computers, Microsoft," Nokia executive vice president Anssi Vanjoki said at a press conference today.
Nokia will also start a music store, powered by Loudeye, which will sell songs over the air to phones using the AAC and OMA standards. Those songs will then play on PCs with Windows Media Player, but not on handheld devices that don't support AAC/WMA.
"This agreement makes it easier for consumers to download music they want to listen to, without having to worry about whether or not the file format is supported," Vanjoki said. (That's not entirely true; users of Apple's iTunes store or Sony's Connect store will still be left out.)
Sony fans will have options, though: today Sony Ericsson also pledged to announce a line of Walkman-branded music phones next month that will "enable users to transfer their existing CD collections to their phones using a PC." That probably means that they'll play MP3s (Sony Ericsson promised "open music formats") and that they'll join up with some sort of PC jukebox software, such as Sony's SonicStage. A future generation of phones will be able to download music from Sony's Connect store over the air and use Connect-downloaded music from PCs.
"A credible mobile music player must combine a wide variety of key features such as easy-to-use software … large music storage capacity, long battery life, quality headphones, and cutting-edge design," Sony said in a press release.
The Connect connection isn't necessarily a plus, as the store's ATRAC format is the odd man out in a music landscape dominated by Apple and Microsoft. Ditto for Sony's SonicStage jukebox; Apple's iTunes and Microsoft's Media Player are the big dogs in that space. But Sony Ericsson is known for stylish handsets, and Sony knows how to build portable music players, so their entry is sure to be interesting.
At CES, Motorola hinted that they'll unveil the first iTunes phone at the CTIA trade show in March. If that's true, then this summer the mobile music wars will truly begin.
