Yep. It finds WI-FI fine, accepts the password, and even says it's connected when we open settings. But, a message pops up on the screen that there is no internet connection. As sure enough, she's not. She can only connect to the internet using her data.
Excellent point. I'm just speculating, but that could have been a reason for some of the delay with the launch as well. That would have required quite a shift, reorganizing, prioritizing etc. Quite a good bit of tech stuff.
I also decided to install a new router today to get more than 25 Mbps max from At&t. It was as low as 5Mbps at times. Pathetic. Only thing is, I can't my wife's phone to pick up WI-FI again. Struggling to get her phone back up now. hahaha Viva is streaming A-1 though
So whitie,as new customers are checking out they no longer have to select Viva's set top box? And also, ROKU can now take care of Viva's in coming movies, and DVR also?
Gotta say. Today it was one of the best days I can remember on this board in months. Felt really nice!!
The one thing that concerned me hdsmonkey, was the availability of their set top boxes. If they are flooded with orders, will there be too much of a delay/back log. In a way that's a good problem, but you don't too many upset customers to cancel.
Goodness Chemist823, its hard to even imagine that ride. But it seems like this surely has all the potential to give it a go though. Go OTTV!!!
If that's the case, maybe people will stop blaming PB as the one who is screwing around with the share price when we see these huge 30/40 hits in the ask. lol
whitie, I think this ROKU update speaks volumes big time as well. Of course channel selection, and sub numbers are big picture items. But what lies underneath is so important. I'll say it again. They are really serious.
I could be wrong. But it seems as if they are trying to get all elements set in place for the roll out after thanksgiving. When people see this for the first time, they are going to really be impressed. And, I think they are trying to make everything user friendly. I friggin hate Direct Tv's web site. It's so damn cluttered that I can't figure out how and where to go if I just need to add or delete channels. Sometimes more is not better.
Don't know about anyone else. But on my guide, everything just says live programming. No discriptions telling you what the shows are about. More updates no doubt, totally loving it.
Yup. I saw that also, jreesey88. They have totally revamped the on demand categories. Something is really brewing.
Yep. I noticed the new opening page around 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon. The shadow of all the channels on the opening page looks awesome. Some channels have their new HD signals as well like VH-1, Bravo, and OWN. It just fires me up to see the continued improvements amid all the bashing. I've said it before, if they never made any improvements to the channel since late May, or early June when they flipped the switch, then there would be need for concern. But these guys are damn serious!
I know right. They are continuing to make changes to the service as we speak. The black background they had with my account, guide, channels, on demand etc... has been replaced with a shadow background of all the channels they offer. It really looks professional to me. And it also says they are continuing to improve the product. JMO
Man, if they don't put that PR out tomorrow, this board will be crunk with nothing but speculation and hyperbole the entire weekend. I'll probably be one of the people in on it. haha
The only reason I will even think of watching my local stations, is for the weather, or maybe local sports. People will ask me sometimes, if I've heard about this or that about local stuff, and I will say to them, I have no idea what you're talking about. lol
I've thought about the same thing Luv2gigl when it comes to Elon Musk. Mark Cuban is another one who is more than animated when it comes to Twitter rants.
Not saying 20 million in volume is a lot, but if that many shares had been retired, I feel we would have seen a tremendous amount of movement in the stock price.
I think they wouldve announced a share buy back/retirement if that was the case. Would be nice though.
Those within the Hispanic community that I've had the pleasure to work with are a bunch of proud upstanding and hard working individuals. They love family as well. That comment is really really sad. I guess that was supposed to be funny. I'm praying for you
I continue to hear the same thing over and over again about the awful service with Sling LenaTrade. But our friend here on this board enjoys ruffling a few feathers telling us that Sling is the best thing since sliced bread. Just wondering, are you currently subscribed to Viva?
Let me take that back TKane, it's HULU I'm thinking about, and not Sling. My apologies. I still stand by what I said about Sling as they entered the market with only 20 channels though.
We've got the Walking Dead on AMC with Viva, and it's not on Sling! Sling have been around a lot longer than VIVA, and when Sling first started out, they only had 20 channels. But, its just going to take time. When I get the time, I'm going to see when Sling started adding more channels to their 20 channel line up, and how ling did it take to get to where they are now. I'm sure they didn't just flip the switch and get all the channels they have now in five months or so. God Bless.
You know jreesey88, that is the one thing that most streaming services may have in common. I'm reading that a lot about HULU, and Sling in particular, that their customers are suffering freezing/buffering issues. My speed is horrible with At&t. I will no doubt have to upgrade to their fiber high speed internet when I go full time to VIVA. Just two days ago, my wife tried to watch Outlander On Demand with Directv TV, and as usual, it kept freezing. At&t were supposed to have bumped our speed up, but sometimes it may work, sometimes it doesn't. My cell phone is the only thing using Wi-Fi here, no one was on a computer or anything. Frustrating.
Not yet. The people I've shown Viva to, are still on the sidelines, even though they are blown away by the quality when I show them. Those on the board and I have kinda gone around the block about Viva getting out there now. They feel it's fine without any features like DVR, movies, and premium channels. I'm trying to look at things from their perspective and say it's ok to release Viva Live Tv somewhat bare bones. But the thing is, everyone I know, they all have those features now, and it's hard for them to give it up. I firmly believe, you won't miss what you never had. But once you've had it, it's really hard to give it up. So they are on the fence for now. But the one thing I have stressed to them is if they come on board, to make sure their internet speed is on point, or they will get excessive buffering, and probably feel it is VIVA, when it just may be the internet speed, or maybe the set top box isn't hard wired to their router. I hate to here that though, I wish it was at least 4 out of 8, for a 50% ratio.
I love it! Very well said!
But, I am looking for my zip code to change, not my drive thru order!
When you said you ran a business, and you were also one of the first to ask Viva for fliers to grow the product, it kinda feel into place. Just trying to give credit, where credit is due.
I love your passion Bruins0704! What may be no big deal for one person, may be huge for the next. And it seems as if you're a schisticler for advertising. I could be wrong, but I think you also put in your own time and effort, to put out fliers, posters, cards, all on your own time. So if there is just a little bit more growl in your tone, it more than merited. Not really any bashing from you either, just being real. Once this starts rolling, I hope your satisfaction will have more meaning than those who didn't really didn't do much more than stand on the sidelines. Try to stay cool my friend.
*too many that's*
I feel u Luv2gigl. But with flexfling's CEO on or BOD, and that the fact that that is obviously where our movies are coming from as we will be using their platform. I thought that part had been taken care of. But if we look at it, it all cost money. Movies, DVR, premium channel, etc. After showing a Hispanic co worker of mine the channel line up, he was really impressed, but guess what his next question was? Do they have MOVIES? hahaha. I just felt it was important to come out fully loaded in a field with major players who now has DVR, movies, premium channels, and more sports channels. But hey, I need to be more open minded, and look at things from you guys perspective as well. Roll it out now, generate revenue to pay for additional features. It is a really good product, and I said it time and time again, that this is so good, it will sell itself. I shouldn't have said it, if I didn't believe it. GLTY
PITBULLRC, I didn't want to use PayPal as my method of payment, so I had to cancel my service, and then re-subscribe with my credit card. I did that yesterday. When I did that, CS mentioned movies again, and said that I would be eligible for a free 30 day movie trial. I asked about the return of premium channels also, they just said they will be coming back, that was it, and for me to stay in touch. No hard dates or anything. I guess you can come to your own conclusions.
Hahaha. Yes Sir. We all have been told the 15th. But one of the IHUBers was told by CS that the movies and premium channels would be back up on the 15th. We shall see.
I think the timetable for the word soon is different for the ones delivering it, than it is for the ones receiving it.
Absolutely!!
Morning madrabbit. Something is going on behind the scenes. I really think. At the sake of sounding gullible, if the official VIVA Twitter post from yesterday is any indication, it said there are bigger mergers in play than VIVA merging with ROKU. Kinda hard to imagine that, but hey holding on to see.
Thanks, I never pulled the trigger from what I saw anyway. Glad I didn't!!! lol
Good point madrabbit !!
acampors, you touched a nerve with that comment about women's shoes! I'm crying laughing right now!!!!
I feel ya JM.
Purchasing your own DVR sounds good goalltheway. But then I started to think. What if people decided to purchase a DVR because Viva's not providing one, and then decided to get a Netflix subscription, because Viva won't provide movies, and went out and got something like ROKU sticks and pay ROKU $8.99 a month per premium channel for HBO, SHOWTIME, STARZ, now the cost are starting to add up. And now they aren't so cheap any more. And the convenience is all but gone with all those additional payments to different companies. I'm not harping on you either, adding the DVR to stream tv is a great idea, but I think we are now starting to make up for some of the things we thought would have been here now that's all. I think they are going to knock it out of the park once they get rolling, and we will all be the beneficiaries. Bigglie! hahaha
