MG: HPON to exhibit at CTIA wireless 2005 trade show March 14-16 New Orleans Louisiana.
MG: Question???
Since you live in Mississippi, are you planning to attend this trade show? that should be grate. I am very sure you know what to ask and what not to ask. Your feed back should be good enough.
That should be helpful for all of us.
Any thoughts on that.
thanks
MG: One last one. If not ‘chicken or a pig’ farming, what about fish or shrimp farming? Can it be done? Anybody you know are doing. Not that I want any reference. Just for info.
Did you ever try vegetables?
Thanks MG. That’s all I have thanks for answering them.
Trk.
MG: Last Questions?: What about sugarcane? If not, will it grow in your Region.
Animal farming in the sense I mean ‘Chicken farms’ of that sort. It should be profitable.
I agree with you all regarding having your own resources(wells; m/c etc), much control that way.
If there is a problem as you mention, Is there a government support or you just broke for that crop.
Finally in general, how is the neighborhood in and around the farm fields. Occasionally will you get some helping hand from a neighbor or friend/relative etc.
Sorry for the questions. Thanks for answering them.
trk
MG: Very interesting no doubt about it. Thanks for Info.
Did you ever consider growing Corn in your fields? Do you have an animal farm too? In general how is the neighborhood in and around the farm fields, I mean are they helpful like I mean to the extant sharing machinery or water or any other needs.
I believe you need people to do farming. Good to see you have a setup with your own people. Farming is unbelievable physical hard work especially Rice, I agree with you.
You have a good one MG.
MG: Generally how is it like doing farming? Is it a year round work? Or your crop is just seasonal thing. Just like that, nothing particular!!!
Thanks
HPON: Current State of the PPS ($0.0019) – Whom to blame -- Summary.
“Naked Short Selling” – SHO List:-
It is hard to find the answer for Why HPON is in this list that is published by
NASDAQ TRADER: Threshold Security List: Trade Date: as of Friday, January 07, 2005 and it appeared only for 4 day’s.
And then Hop-on took advantage of this situation and released a PR exactly on that issue as though it is suffering form it or it is the main contributor to its state of the PPS.
HPON PR:”HOP-ON INCLUDED ON NASDAQ THRESHOLD SECURITY LIST OF COMPANIES MOST ABUSED BY SHORT SELLERS” and said “Company’s stock has suffered from abusive short selling practices lately”
That leads to as per discussion MG and PROP and others
The current state of the PPS ($0.0019) is because any or all the following factors.
1) Naked Short Selling – Company blames it on at least for now.
2) Dilution – In last 15 day’s alone 900 Million shares were dumped by the company.
3) Mismanagement – No reporting/broken promises/shady management… the list goes on and on and on.
On top of it company is now showing some sins of improvement in terms of business and its direction.
PS: HPON Stock is an ‘unsolved mysteries’ to say the least.
Thanks
HPON: billytbone by targeting the emerging markets mostly third world countries such as Mexico, Caribbean and, India and in between the rest of the countries, it is quite possible to make a reasonable margin still even at 36$ hop-on Phones and/or by coming up 30$ hop-on phones because in the third world countries except latest technology products but the rest of the products especially third party patented /licensed (need/Necessity based) products are subsidized. That applies to the need based low end cell phones. And also it is quite possible to import of such products back to developed countries.
In my view the company’s 2% market share is quite realistic at least it is not over stated.
Clearly hop-on GSM Phone prices are competitive in the industry. Now it is a matter of time to see this business clicks or not.
Slowly if hop-on can catch up the volume then this low margins will add up.
Thanks.
HPON: Question on Hop-on’s O/S Count Vs Shares Traded.
History: Since Feb 1st to date(Feb 18th) the total no of shares traded are 999 Million.
http://investor.news.com/Engine?Account=cnet&PageName=HISTORICAL&Ticker=HPON
When we checked the Outstanding share count on February 1st , 2005, It was 1.9B (1Billion and 900Million).
And when we checked the Outstanding share count on February 18th, 2005, It was 2.9B (2Billion and 900Million).
Any thoughts??? Above numbers can not be that tight.
Thanks
HPON: Thanks ragtimecowboy: I got that right now.
So HPON is not a manufacturer technically. So HPON just STAMPS it or asks those manufacturers to stamp it for them and then the finished product pass on to next who ever may be in the line. Therefore the margins are going to be cut, cut and cut. Now what about that 36$ Phone and 30$ Phone on it way now. How they may be getting it done??? any away...
That reminds me that just read the following comments from HPON CEO,
“Gannon declined to give details of the margins his company is making on
the low-cost phones, but said they are low.” – based on PR http://www.hop-on.com/pr_021705.html
That explains why Gannon couldn’t discuses the details, may be he don’t know either.
By the way the debt in 2002 financials is about 12M US $. PM’s deep pocket and lending money to HPON it is kind of NEWS to me. I heard about that before, that’s all.
Regarding O/S, what can I say…
Oh! This O/S count is now slowly getting on to my nerve, 3B and counting (i.e 2.5B since the shareholder meeting) and more or less 7B to go may be. At some point these guy's must stop this. Isn't it???
For get all this is Just a Joke...
It goes like this, there is a big conference on ‘advancements in high tech’ once held some where in Europe. There met these three scientists. They were discussing how good they were, what papers they wrote, how popular they were and all and then
this FIRST SCIENTIST found some raw material along the way it is nothing but a Iron scrap and said ok, let me see what I can do with it and he took the raw material to his lab and came out with a ‘HAIR THIN WIRE’. They are all impressed by his skill and then
the SECOND SCIENTIST took that ‘HAIR THIN WIRE’ to his lab and came out with a HOLE in it. And again they are all impressed by his skill and then
this last THRID SCIENTIST took that ‘HAIR THIN WIRE WITH A HOLE’ on it to his lab, mean time they are all wondering what he may be doing differently and then here comes the third scientist with ‘HIS NAME STAMPED’ on that HAIR THIN WIRE WITH A HOLE. They were all Impressed by his skill once again.
Stamping the final Product with style. we will take am as long as HPON gets good margins.
Thanks

MG: I know that HPON acquired all the necessary GSM and, CDMA technology licenses from all USA manufactures. But I thought HPON has an advantage going in to market place with a little or no over head on their cell phones there by they can sell them at competitive price.
Just to revise the HPON business lines, as I understood look like HPON is targeting ‘lower end consumer markets’. By definition as per GSMA 'Connect the Unconnected'.
Since as you know that all the big guy’s with an eception MOT are going ahead with advanced all-in-one cell phones, which cost more, sophisticated and, user friendly but again to those who can afford, but same time they are neglecting basic needs of lower or middle class consumers.
My understanding is HPON is trying to grab that lower or middle class consumer or one can define them as the rest, by manufacturing basic featured low cost cell phones. As per the research, the lower end consumer market is huge. Literally billion more connections to go, that is plenty of the business to come and guess what it can not be done by one competitor I suppose. so competition is not a worry at this point I think.
Basic characteristic of such market is ‘the need bases’, they could care less about the brand name(s). Cost is the driver. But one important thing is if the cost is close enough then the brand name may be picked.
Since we know that HPON can match that competitive price, now it is a matter of time to click this business.
Therefore I am keep saying ‘Company is in good position with regards to GSM cell phone business’.
PL welcome any comments by anyone.
Thanks

Subject: Regarding “Choosing Motorola to 'Connect the Unconnected' by GSM Association.
Your decision to award the GMS contract / tender to Motorola for to 'Connect the Unconnected' is not in the best interests of the consumers. This action has cost your Association and the consumer’s confidence. Basic open market rules have not been applied in this case. GSM does not seem to believe in modern capital market model.
Note: the consumer will pay the price for GSMA’s incompetence.
Consumers want to know is there any other company that quoted/matched Motorola’s 40 US Dollar price.

HPON: Hop-on Current and Future Sales and Estimates. – Summery
Chief Executive Dan Gannon said in an interview with Dow Jones Newswires.
Sales and Estimates:-
Hop-on.com aims for 2% Global Mkt Share in three years time.
Hop-on expected to ship 5 Million handsets in 2005.
Hop-on.com expects its estimated sales of between $150 million and $200 Millions in 2005.
Hop-on.com expects to make a net profit in 2005.
Business Note:-
Hop-on.com said it will probably take part in any future tenders the GSMA launches.
Hop-on.com said it has plans to release phones priced at $30.
Hop-on will offer a third-generation handset in two months' time.
Look like Hop-on is having a great exposure at 3GSM and also lot of mobile operators were stopping by the booth to check out
PS:-
Company is moving in right direction with a positive note.
Business making by this company is in progress.
Company is in good position with regards to GSM cell phone related business.

MG: Quick Question??? -- On your HPON GSM Phone.
As you stated in your previous post
“I already had a b cingular contact though the company /b so they got it working for free and they simply transfered the sims card from my daughters phone to the HPON phone.”
I did not quite get it. Do you mean to say you have GSM already? And you are just changing SIM card from your old phone to HPON Phone. How is it working? What cingular carrier told you about minutes here in US usage and also did you enquire about International travel usage???
Thanks for any help.

HPON: Price war: ‘HPON TELLS MOT TOP OF IT’ Telecomtv reports from 3GSM.
Must go and watch. Link is in http://www.hop-on.com/ thanks to enaduotria for the post#2134.
Things to observe in the video are ….
Dan Gannon, Chief Executive Officer of Hop-on interview He say’s ‘36 $ Model Phone 1803 started about a year ago and is in production already’.
‘He looks Professional.’
Now Tender has been awarded to ‘Motorola by the GSM Association’ – WRONG. That means this Tender is not in open market. This is not how it works. ‘GSM Association’ is in trouble. Because Tender normally given it to lowest priced quotation on a open market.
Telecomtv spokes person on “Motorola and the GSM Association yesterday announced the first GSM handset priced at under US$40, as part of a wider plan to supply the "ultra-low-cost" mobile phone market in developing nations. Except, it isn't. US-based manufacturer Hop-on says it already has a low-cost GSM handset on the market, which sells at just $36.”
Says Hop-on is welcome. Must joint the alliance.
'Emerging markets train will not leave with out hop-on'.
Big news lets see how market leader (Motorola) will reacts to it. Motorola has to say some thing.
BUSINESS MAKING IS IN PROGRESS.
Thanks.
E25: I think 'the otherwise' even though the past suggests very tough out there, but at present HPON is very much alive and kicking. You never know what is going to come in next 30 to 45 day’s time frame, but first time in this company’s history things that are going to come are promising.
I am going to say ‘Hang in there not over yet.’
Thanks
HPON: Just before closing in 12 minutes 28M shares were sold.
Any thing at all.

3GSM – NOTE: "Join us for the mobile industry's greatest event and help define the future"
“Last year marked the passing of an incredible milestone, 1 billion GSM subscribers. Now the pervading message of the industry is to reach the 'next billion'. This will be achieved via lower costs of basic communications and by delivering compelling, easy-to-use and valuable data services. The 3GSM World Congress is an essential forum which brings the mobile community together and sets the agenda for the global mobile industry's future.
Here's to the next billion subscribers! “
The Price War, the Company’s that are in the market
The Big players … Motorola … soon Nokia and, Samsung etc. will join the band wagon with out a doubt.
The Small player(s)… Hop-on etc.
The difference is
The big players can be ‘lightning fast’ to get into the market unlike as an example HPON took ages as you know in order to get here.
PS: As per research market is huge at lower end. If HPON gets about 10 – 30% of that market share that it self is a company in making. In the long run at least there is a chance for a buyout if HPON gets a decent market share.
Thanks

Glimpse to show hpon’s market awareness and what competitor is up to.
Competition is good for the HPON…. Because.
Hpon presence will be heard.
HPON Standing next to the big guy face to face.
That brings Choice to the market. And cost factor will be considered over brand name.
Sometimes some people prefer other than brand name,
That is where hpon will be cashing in.
Since hpon is relatively new if hpon can penetrate in to the market that it.
As we all know as and also as per Motorola’s research and as per 3GSM Tradeshow 'low end cell phone market is huge' and to reach out all those people it will be take several years. Here we are talking about long term business . HPON can’t do it or go alone and go with the compaction is good.
If hpon gets 10%-30% range of that market then Hpon can show $$$. We should be fine. Hang in there not over yet my opinion.

HPON: Revised: Direct price competition by Motorola Chosen by GSM Association.
Pl ignore Post# 2079.
Motorola Chosen by GSM Association to 'Connect The Unconnected' --Monday February 14, 11:01 am ET
Bringing the Promise of Mobile Technology to Everyone
Motorola has committed to start delivering these products during the second quarter of 2005 at a price point below US$40 (ex-factory) and has a strategic intent to work with GSMA members to develop follow-on products at sub US$30 price points.
As per Motorola low end market is huge…
The initial unit volume target for the first six months once shipments begin is six million handsets. This equates to approximately one per cent of the global handset market. As the programme expands, this new market segment has the potential to add more than a 100 million new connections per year.
