They haven't released a film yet. How do you estimate this is a "40 million dollar business"?
OK, Thanks. Didn't know the full scope of the release. I agree, the aftermarket revenue for Hunt will do quite well. Although a LONG SHOT, my prediction is still in play.
Going on record again. My gut tells me that Wild Hunt will out gross Twelve in the box office. (Has Hannover released the number of theaters Hunt will open on?)
SONY will be fighting tooth and nail for Bond franchise.
Rain, I've picked plenty of 35mm dallies at the lab. There's nothing like the smell of developing fluid in the morning! (i know you know what I'm talking about) Your story of your dad's animation house is very intriguing. But the one thing that intrigues me most is... I never would have guessed that a Native American Indian family in NYC owned an animation studio?
FYI - I'm rooting for Kells too!
That's too bad for the producers. Looks like the learning curve for this high-end animation really burned them. I hope they can land on their feet and make more adventurous films in the future.
Until break out companies like this one can get a foothold in the feature animation game, we'll be stuck with the "formulaic" films of Pixar, Dreamworks & Disney for many years to come!
rylawi - you good for now?
That makes sense. Thanks.
So how does the old ceo fit in the current picture ?
Is he the money funding the releases ?
Very true. Thank you Fotis
Fotis & Eric link below. If you google their names and Hounddog you'll find several of these.

Um... no. I'm about 1/2 step ahead of them.
The films producers (or investors) control all the rights. They make the film and shop it to several perspective distributors or sales agents and they will go with the highest bidder.
Sales agents and distributors will be granted the rights to exploit the film and in return they get a percentage of the money earned by the proceeds. 100% of the rights revert back to the producers (or investors) in 7 to 10 years and then they are free to cut a new deal with the same or explore different set of sales agents or distributors.
You can compare it to building a new home and leasing it rather than selling it.
Thanks Rain. I did some poking around on pinksheets regarding my question about what happened to old executives and officers of TDGI. Pinkshets had limited info but it led me to other places.
It seems that Eric and Fotis Georgiadis have ties going back to the Empire Film days (most having to do with the release of Hound Dog)
Is it safe to assume that Georgiadis saw great leadership traits in the Hannover team while at Empire and set them up on their own to take over TDGI?
International rights are usually handled by "sales companies" and It's a very specialized business. Movie rights are sold off to foreign distributors country by country or territory by territory.
For example if you were selling foreign rights for Wild Hunt to Germany, you could perhaps sell the "Pay TV" rights to HBO for 25K, the DVD/Blu-Ray rights to Sony for 90K, and the theatrical rights may never get bought by anyone. Now take the above process and do the same for the rest of the territories across the world. (UK, Spain, Japan, Asia, Australia, Latin America etc.)
So controlling the International rights is a "great" thing but you need a very specialized workforce. My guess is that Fred & Eric are going to build an international sales division.
(One thing to note that North America includes Canada)
agreed. The pros that have been hired to market these films are 10 or 20 steps ahead of all of you ihub message board folks.
Here is a link to "the new rocky horror". It's called THE ROOM.

Maybe Wild Hunt could venture down this same path?
So is Kells/GKIDS/Hannover deal done?
Sorry. Meant to say that most of the books in that link are not books from hannover.
Straw Dogs is currently being remade by Sony.
Can anyone explain how this all works ? Does this mean the Eric and Fred were approached by the old executives to take over tdgi and they handed over the reigns and they all walked away ?
That link isn't a complete list of hannover house published books.
Are any of the old target executives still in the picture ?
Very happy about that decision. Be prepared to see a great opening weekend per screen average on Racing Dreams. Last year when "FOOD INC." opened on 3 screens to make $60,513 (20K per screen) it made hollywood headlines. This film went on to make 4.5M in theaters and earned an Oscar Nomination. Bravo Fred & Eric.
Correct! I know the guy who distributes a tiny documentary about the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
He released it in the late 80's. Every time Hollywood does a new Chainsaw remake or sequel, this guys DVD orders soar.
your username makes sense lookingood!
I predict that Wild Hunt will perform better at the boxoffce than Twelve.
And before anyone tears my head off, I do acknowledge that just like a critic, this is only one man's opinion!
You and "gophilipgo" have a smart outlook on things.
I will find out if they're still making changes to the movie.
I'm like fox news: Fair & Balanced. Here's something positive.

From the mid 90's. Eric co~writer/director
That special feature is called "Digital Copy".
Here's a link that shows which movies have that feature.

Smart opinion evolutions1!
That's 14,000 per screen average. You really think that's possible ?
I'm following you guys regarding investment jargon. I just know a little bit about how the the movie biz works and this is intriguing to me. Hopefully I'll learn a thing or two about investing and you guys will learn a little bit about the entertainment biz.
Thanks for that info!
Everybody is looking for the next slumdog. I think we'd all ne happy with the next Bottle Shock.
another 57k this weekend. For kells
Never said Hemdale was gone because of Eric. Just making the point that this is a tough biz.
Eric is a fantastic home vid guy. I like this play because I know I'll make a few bucks this year. This is the only pink stock I've ever gambled on. I don't even know what reducing the A/S means but it sure sounds important.
