Ken - I've seen you post on a couple of the boards of stocks I own and alot of people hold you in high regard. I've been holding AMEP for about 8 months and it was great to see you show up on that board. Anyhow I see all your spreadsheets and stuff on the page and I went to your site to subscribe to your letter, but I was wondering if anywhere you had some sort of results showing how implementation of your system works and what returns you get. I assume you give a fairly large set of stocks to take action on. Do you provide actionable advise? and are there any third party verified results of it? I can part of my question boils down to the tables above. Were they crafted based on backward looking composition, or based on you actually taking action and those were the results?
Thanks,
Bigs
I scanned the NEOM sections from the textbook. Does anyone have an idea if I can legally post those and where?

Sorry things have been crazy for me with work and we're selling our house, I really haven't had that much time to post or follow the board. We are driving to visit my family on friday. I will try and take part of the drive to write up a summary. All I would say though is the NewsGroup announcement was key. Their main focus is to work with social networking sites for introduction and help both parties monetize the channel.

I have a different take on the PP/Scanbuy piece. I believe PP is paid by Scanbuy. Its become apparent by his promotion of them over the last year. I believe that scanbuy released their PR so that PP could write his piece. It may be because terms are in their favor, or it could be to save face because they are losing. I have seen too many things go against us to not think we may have settled at less than best terms, but heck we now have NewsCorp in the wings. That is huge. Scanbuy has not announced anything of that caliber.

Prentice Hall Textbook states "No White Label Products."
Sorry I haven't posted more yet, but as an update in the question and answer in the back of the textbook he talks about how they decided it would be unmanageable to do whitelabeled products. So they decided to run it all under the Qode brand. Just to update everyone.

Copus or Someone New as CEO?
The question I have is does Martin Copus become CEO or the new rumored Senior VP. I suspect Martin becomes CEO. The fact that they made him COO when he came on, indicates that he is being positioned to be CEO. But then again, why wouldn't they have just announced that, so maybe the new hiree, maybe Joe Gorelick, will be made CEO. Either way I think its good news.
Also I doubt that David Dodge will last after the new CEO is appointed. I suspect the thought is to allow the new ceo to choose the new cfo.

I want to keep Triton!!!
I'm just going to express my opinion that I think triton fits well into our strategy long term and they are cash flow positive. I hope that management finds a way to keep them.
What most people don't realize is that there is the concept of reverse billing in the cell phone arena. You buy a ring tone and and that charge is actually added to your cellphone bill. Or you vote in the american idol contest and it gets billed to your carrier who bills you. Right now carriers take as much as 50% of the revenue.
We want to monetize qode with social networking sites and bill on a per-click basis. To do this, triton's billing service actually plays a vital role in this and the future of mobile commerce.
If we can keep Triton lets do.

I'll try and update the board about the textbook tomorrow. I got off work and needed to spend some time with my wife. The gist is that the core of neomedia's strategy is going to be using social networking sites. There was nothing earth shattering revealed, but a good outline of the strategy and a really good qa with Rick S about NEOM as a company.

Textbook Arrived!!!
I'll check it out and get the word out to the board.

Early Retirement. I think that is a fair statement. My personal opinion is if we could have kept mobot reasonably I would have liked to keep them. Their technology is actually the next logical progression for ours. Maybe 3 years down the road. If we could keep them in the fold it would have been better. We are no longer in financial position to keep them. The good news of it though is that we still keep a close tie. So maybe not in the fold, but close at hand. As far as the time they were with us, I think its doubtful much came out of the 9 months they were a NEOM company except increased cashflow burn :(, but hopefully we developed a closer working relationship that will pay dividends in the future.
My 2 Cents,
Bigs
I ordered the Prentice Hall Textbook.
Just wanted to give everybody a heads up. I ordered a copy of the textbook and it should arrive later this week.

Textbook. The University of Washington uses it for marketing 301. They are currently using the 4th edition though. I contacted the instructor to see if she had a copy of the 5th edition and if I could come see it.

Is anybody going to order a copy of the Prentice Hall Textbook?
I'm kind of cash strapped, but I saw on the prentice hall site that if you order the textbook today it would shipout on monday and can arrive by wednesday. May well be work $130 for somebody.

We can access the textbook online also.
If someone is willing to kick down $65 we can get an online version of the text book also.

If the price was going up and we had the same news that we currently have out would people be so pissed at management? Its been very uncomfortable for me to see the price go down, but I believe peoples perception is shaped by pps, and pps is often not a good indicator in the short term of the business.
I believe management has made some mistakes and are not top of the heap, but I do believe they aren't incompetant. Martin Copus is a very smart and well connected man. The legacy management is a little less impressive, but not incompetant.
Thats my 2 cents,
Bigs
beam great post and I think it would actually be useful to have on the header so people can understand the relationship with the subs. You even cleared up a few things in my head.
Thanks and have a great thanksgiving.

JP great word. Launch is coming and I am really excited. I've really enjoyed following this board over the past 2 years and there are alot of impressive people here. Lets enjoy the ride coming up. I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself. The Prentice Hall textbook comes out in a week and a half and we'll get to see the whole NEOM go-to-market strategy. Its been a long time coming. I think I'm more excited for launch than for christmas :)
OT: dlethe01, thanks for the kind words. I really appreciate your contribution to this board. You pull up alot of great connections. They have potential to be a very strategic partner. Last spring Gannett took a minority stake in them and they run key words in major papers like USA Today. Honestly they are basically doing with sms what hopefully qode will take to the next level, but their partnerships would make them potentially a great ally. They are very easy to work with also and are quite competent. I still haven't figured out their business model though and how they are going to monetize their platform. I assume as some point they want to put targeted adds at the bottom of sms.
That's my thoughts off the top of my head. Our project with them I felt had real power to be transforming from a community involvement standpoint, but we are always having cashflow issues as a startup consulting firm, so I've not been able to devote as much energy to that project as I'd like. It was one of my babies.
-Bigs
OT: dlethe the press release you referenced was one of my happiest days on this board when someone else posted the press release and I saw my name on it. We never got much funding for the project though so it hasn't gone as far as I would have liked.

Yeah that's me dlethe01. Its project we've been partnering with 4INFO on. It was shown at the DEMO conference also.

Heavy Hitter Rumor:
I don't know who posted it or if there is any validity to it, but the description that someone hinted at would indicate Joe Gorelick.
Joe Gorelick - Executive Vice President
Mr. Gorelick is a seasoned senior executive with over 20 years of experience within the international wireless telecommunications, internet and aerospace fields. Prior to joining POP Solutions, he served as a consulting advisor to investment banking and venture firms where he evaluated companies and provided business development services in the wireless applications and infrastructure space. Mr. Gorelick has held executive positions with Fortune 100 companies including Ericsson, where he was responsible for the development and management of the company’s global Mobile Internet Applications business in the areas of multimedia and mobile commerce applications. There he recognized the need for compatibility with multitudes of ever-changing hand-held wireless devices (mobile phones, PDAs, Pocket PCs), and innovated a new wireless multimedia enabling framework that provided for the delivery of renderable content to the appropriate devices. By positioning the products and their development towards an end-user benefits and usability paradigm over pure technical specifications, Mr. Gorelick helped establish Ericsson as the premier world leader in Multimedia Messaging.
Mr. Gorelick holds an Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of New York, and a Bachelors degree from the City University of New York in conjunction with Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science.
Motorola Q runs Windows Mobile. I tried to install qode on my firends q and then relized they haven't released a version for windows mobile yet. The nice thing about windows mobile 5 though is it has a standard api for usi the camera functionality of the phones running on it. So it will make it easy to develop one version of qode for all windows mobile phones.

I suppose I'm in good enough mood this morning to think that's hilarious.

Personalizit,
I realize your post was to JP, but I will reply anyhow. I absolutely believe that there is a major BP partner or even multiple for this launch. There is no way the Prentice Hall text book would be featuring our go to market strategy if that wasn't the case. That text book comes out next month. We have a $30 million cash deficiency though for the subs. Even with multiple major BP we will not be making $30 million free cash flow in the several months. By removing sponge it reduces the amount we are short down to $20 million. I don't believe divesting of sponge means there aren't good things on the horizon, it just indicates that anyone expecting us to be turning a 30 million dollar profit as soon as qode launches will be sorely disappointed.

My thoughts on the ONE announcement FWIW.
I believe the significance of the ONE announcement was to let people know we are very close. I don't think they are necessarily the first deal, but the first one announced. Since they are essentially a non-profit in a commodity market, it doesn't diminish their competitive advantage to allow NEOM announce a marketing effort of theirs.
NEOM needed to announce this to blunt the impact of the 10-Q. I believe we will be seeing alot more announcements in the next 3 weeks from commercial partners. If the ONE campaign starts in Dec, I believe it isn't the only campaign prepared.
Best to all longs,
Bigs
Who is Freitas?
I guess Scott Schafer threatened to sue Neom eh?
If you read the list of liabilities at the bottom it talks about an unreceived consulting fee of 300K for consulting about Mobot and Neom.
Thoughts?

The keyword forecaster I don't is in the same competitive space at this point in time. All it is a tool for advertisers who want to target a specific demographic with their marketing to get some feedback on how to craft their keyword purchases for search engine marketing. This is designed for traditional websearch. Demographic info is super powerful to the marketer and that is one of the core strengs of Qode solution. This microsoft is useful, but at this point not a a competitive threat in my opinion. I'm not saying MS isn't a threat, but I don't think this tech is in our space right now.

I couldn't install qode on a motorola razr v3 this weekend. Hey I just wanted to give a little update. I don't know if it was the phone, the service provider, or the install process but I couldn't get qode on my fathers v3 this weekend. He has a cingular subsidiary of edge wireless for a provider. I would get to 82% downloading the jar file and the download would fail. Tried 4 times. Wondered if anyone had any ideas or similar experience. I forwarded my feedback onto the company.
-Bigs
yeah that's what I thought also.
Flame war.
Ninja,
I think what occurred there is that scanbuy set up a myspace page. StreetStylz has a qode mypage that he set up. So he put a comment on their page which essentially creates a link to the qode page he set up. He did it more as a way of picking the publicity pocket of scanbuy, not somesort of official partnership between them.
-Bigs
Dr. if we made a public statement like that it would basically exclude an amicable relationship with MS. Until the day we file lawsuit its better to pursue love than war. Those are the word of Martin Copus to me at the SHM.
MSFT definitely traverse our IP
Text from patent #6,108,656. The device mentioned in the patent body is for a computer, but I believe it covers the decoding of machine readable data. Specifically describing a code similar to a QR code.
"In particular, the present invention is a method and system for a computer, such as a client computer in a networked computer system, to retrieve a computer file in which a symbol data string comprising a file location pointer is encoded into a machine readable symbol such as a two-dimensional bar code symbol, and the machine readable symbol is rendered within a data carrier (e.g. printed on an intelligent document). A computer input device such as a two-dimensional bar code scanner is coupled to the client computer and transposes an input data string from the machine readable symbol. The computer parses the input data string to determine the file location pointer, and the file location pointer is then utilized pointer to request the computer file designated thereby."
Thanks for trying JP.
