Small H2 jet that can be filled for $500 they say. Looks interested in the small craft realm, at least.
Maybe so, but the client should have figured that one out before they ordered the product. Now if Plug claimed the product would perform better than advertised that is one thing, but cost of H2 is based on supply and demand and that they do not control.
Agreed, good news, but short of details as to timing and value, but that is typical of the way things go with Andy. I guess they have the product already since that Canadian deal went under or do they have to hold them in inventory until the lawsuit is over to see if they are forced to take delivery and pay?
I doubt they could get a bridge loan based on the DOE loan since it is not guaranteed at this point, they ever get the money. The best possible news would be that 45V gets out with few restrictions, we get the loan money, and we actually see the revenue is up and our losses cut dramatically. That would give us reason to feel a bit better about Plug.
That maybe a blow to 2Q revenue and projections. Any idea why they cancelled the order. I suspect we had already created the products for delivery.
So, was this just a plow to get Union funds before the election and reason for the delay? Who else needs to pay up before 45V is finalized? This administration is a sad joke on the American people.
No, they all just got free shares is all as part of their compensation packages. None of them have the balls or faith in the company to buy shares in the open market, which speaks louder than any words. At this price, if they knew something big was up, like the touted short squeeze by our toothless leader, they would be buying hand over fist.
Maybe it would have a small battery or could be a home plug in like Tesla has to create the H2. It would be more of a Hybrid I guess.
I had heard very early on that electrolysers could be made much smaller to power other devices. Could one be made so that a car could produce its own fuel?
I asked Microsoft Co-pilot this and here's the answer. Can hydrogen fuel cells be used to power data centers?
Copilot
Certainly! Hydrogen fuel cells can indeed be used to power data centers. In fact, Microsoft has been at the forefront of exploring this technology. Here’s what you need to know:
Recent Milestone: Microsoft achieved a significant milestone by powering a row of datacenter servers for 48 consecutive hours using hydrogen fuel cells. This breakthrough demonstrates the viability of using hydrogen as an alternative to diesel-powered backup generators1.
Cost Parity and Environmental Benefits:
Hydrogen fuel cell costs have dropped significantly, making them economically competitive with diesel generators.
Using fuel cells instead of diesel generators has several advantages, including reduced clean air permit constraints and increased operational flexibility2.
Integration with the Grid:
An Azure datacenter equipped with fuel cells, a hydrogen storage tank, and an electrolyzer (which converts water into hydrogen and oxygen) could integrate with the electric power grid.
During periods of excess wind or solar energy production, the electrolyzer could store renewable energy as hydrogen. Then, during high-demand periods, the fuel cells could generate electricity for the grid1.
Future Potential:
Hydrogen-powered long-haul vehicles could also refuel at datacenters.
Microsoft aims to play a role in the evolving energy optimization framework by leveraging hydrogen fuel cells and related infrastructure1.
In summary, hydrogen fuel cells offer a greener and more sustainable option for powering data centers!
Well, Jack we put up with your negativity, so BB is a good balance I think.
Yes! What we have been saying for a year now!
Has Linde and Air Products and other big companies scaled back yet Jack? Maybe that would answer your question.
Could also be a positive for PLUG if they decide to use onsite green h2 or use green H2 trucked in. Also, BE can use green H2 as they are agnostic as to what the source is, but the client pays the freight. Another thing that could lower cost are the new chips from NVidia that use 25% less power.
Jack, if they already know this then why would they continue with trials? Use some common sense my man. Their priority in using H2 was to lower emission to zero at some point more than cost. Sure, they want the cost as low as possible and maybe that is why everyone is waiting for 45V to come out with the final regs. to proceed.
I thought we were doing a truck with Amazon. Is that the class 6? One would think if there was a small van and us having Hyvia in the field and gone through 2 years of trials we could get van business also.
Is this Plug or another company?
Did Paul? Well, it seems they now have religion and are making steps to implement things they should have long done in the past. Like trying to run a profit-making company. Now let's see if they can do it. I finally had time to listen to the annual meeting and it sounded like Andy is still positive, but now it seems hydrogen is not so easy, as he said building a hydrogen plants was hard. So, it seems BE is now sometimes in 2025. Where have we heard that before in the last 12 years? Also, the DOE loan is 4-7 months and plus 2 to get the money but this was before the recent news. Also, 45v now after the election. So, in reality, nothing this year is likely to get done and both could be wiped out if Trump gets in office, but not sure. Big question is why are they dragging their feet if the Green agenda is so important? Do they want to make this a campaign issue and say if Trump gets elected this will never happen or or they holding out for cash? I wonder how long the cash hold out from the ATM and how much more dilution it causes. They talk about more financing, so I have to assume that the ATM may run out prior to the DOE loan, or they want more cash to get the buildout going. I still have this bad feeling that Andy pulls a RS in the 1:10 range to reduce the share count and do another multi-billion dollar offering. I don't trust him since none of them have bought when we were in the $2-$3 range.
There is a big difference between click bait ads and general information as to what is going on in the H2 industry. It also is informative to see what others, Competition, is doing. You mention Linde all the time and I have no problems as long as it is informative and not openly biased.
Jack, you post numerous Motely Fool and Investor pieces that are laced with select information and leave out other information that formulate the whole picture and are therefore misleading. I do wish you would continue to use your factual expertise versus posting Click bait article as Bad News like they are factual.
BB is one of the few posters that adds something to the board. God, knows we need a balance against all the negative garbage.
OK, that's how you want to play? The same Investors Place said that Plug was one of 3 stocks that could make you a Millionaire. SO GOOD NEWS! Funny how you failed to report that piece and show you were no biased. Either way you know these are just click bait to sell their newsletter.
Yes, by then they will have taken over the world most likely.
It's all the rage and a great pump to any stock that adopts it. Who knows what the benefits will turn out to be, but with all our data collection entered into the software maybe they could find ways to save or a better process? That's the idea anyway.
Yes, we wasted our advantage with poor planning and use of resources for sure. Looks like we are closer to 2 years behind schedule now. We definitely need some big deep pocket partners to continue our growth, but not sure who trust management at this point.
Bloom went up as soon as they announced the deal with C3AI to incorporate AI. While all the major firms are investing Billions in AI we should be doing the same as Bloom and find a partner. Why with all the issues in Ca. with diesel data cenetrs not being allowed why do we have no sales in the Trillion-dollar market yet?
Maybe NASA will make a big deal with Plug to buy liquid H2. Funny, Musk does not use H2 as a fuel in SpaceX rockets, but mostly a refined Kerosene.
Most likely right, but you never know. If you remember quite a few years ago we had these rallies where certain sectors went up and were darlings during sector rotations. This could happen again as highly beat up stock may get some attention after the big banks and brokerages pare back some gains off Semi and Tech stocks. Some of these stocks have become too large a share of the ETF or Mutual fund and will be forced to be sold under the terms of the fund. Fidelity has one fund that has about 25% in one stock.
Bloom up 50% because they adopted AI. Andy? Oh, Andy! You want a short squeeze, then adopt AI and hire a top company to implement it!
Nice, to see my hometown doing this, but at best 2035 so just another cost with no revenue attached at this point. I thought we had been working with Airbus for a few years now. I wonder if the smaller operator for short trips is coming along and if they will pass muster with the FAA in the next few years?
I think the FC's cost a bit more than the batteries and that would be a big factor.
This could hurt our business in long haul and vans and in the storage industry. Worried about the future unless something revolutionary happens soon. Even makes you wonder why the DOE or Hubs will be just a waste of Government funds?
From Japan= But a breakthrough from the RIKEN Center for Sustainable Resource Science (CSRS) in Japan could be about to change everything.
Their new technique reduces the amount of iridium needed in green hydrogen production by a whopping 95% – a game-changer for scaling up this transformative technology.
Not sure how much we use, but at $174.33 per gram lowering the cost to $8.72 would have to be huge. At a Troy ounce that saves $5465. Anyone know, how much we use a year?
Are you F'ing kidding me? How does the Board allow this BS. Paul could not get a job with a Subway. He has done a horrible job. So, sick of them getting paid when they cannot even make a profit, and this just sets us back even more! This is why we need a shareholder on the board to put these bastards feet to the fire.
Jack. Ask yourself who is doing the trials and who made the commitment to go with green hydrogen? Do you think Andy just did this without having interest from customers? I agree Andy has made numerous mistakes, but he does listen to his client's needs. I agree it won't happen immediately, and no guarantees, but it could happen over time 2028-2030.
Not sure Jack, but I have to think with all the work they have done in this area they have had a learning experience. Also, I'd love to know who, if any, of the current customers are demanding such vehicles. I find it interesting that unlike most Class 6 vehicles you do not need a commercial license due to the weight. This opens up a huge potential for non-professional to drive. Think in the future of all the rental fleets people use to move with Ryder, U-Haul etc. I think Amazon with their 2025 huge contract for green H2 maybe behind this to get it off the ground. This time could be different. We shall see as it will take some time. I like to think positive.
Well, that was kind of a surprise, but I almost wished they would have kept it secret until the trials were completed and plans for adoption were ready. Unless our customers have enough h2 at the site that is made there, or delivered by Plug there is no infrastructure to support a large-scale delivery fleet. This will all have to be onsite large structures most likely in the 5MW size or we have to supply a lot of green H2 we do not have yet. I see this as a slow rollout out, if the end product is accepted. Hopefully, Hyvia was a good testing ground to get the bugs out. I wonder if Renault or someone else like Ford will be working with us. There are so many questions this news brings up. This could certainly turn the tables, but we are going to need a lot more product and that means money.
I wonder how long all this garbage they toss in takes? While this conditional commitment represents a significant milestone and demonstrates the DOE’s intent to finance the project, certain technical, legal, environmental and financial conditions, including negotiation of definitive financing documents, must be satisfied before funding of the loan guarantee.
LPO works in support of President Biden’s ambitions to drive growth in US manufacturing and innovation, create jobs, and build a clean energy economy that will address climate change and make communities more resilient.
Plug’s projects under the loan will adhere to the Biden Administration’s Justice 40 Initiative. This process includes gathering input from local labor, workforce, and economic development organizations in addition to first responder and non-profit organizations. The plants are expected to create good-paying jobs accessible to a diverse talent supply and help develop workforce skills needed to drive the transition to a clean energy economy.
LPO’s Title 17 Clean Energy Financing Program, which supports innovative energy and supply chain projects and projects that reinvest in existing energy infrastructure, will provide the financing to Plug.
So, what does this actually mean and when will we start receiving the money?
Was the EV for short haul and long haul? Seems to me long haul, once there was fueling stations in place would be a good bet to go with a FC truck like what Nikola has. I wonder if they are waiting on a direct combustion hydrogen engine. The longer 45v and the DOE drag on the worse our chances look. I am doubting either of these happen in our favor once Trump gets in office. I'm thinking he may just gut the whole IRA and let the energy companies fight it out like before. With the head start and then Covid things worked in our favor, but since then new technologies and old ones getting better are cheaper competition and we have lost some advantage. If things don't get moving and soon, I fear for Plugs future and my chances of ever seeing my money.
