Order For Landfill Waste Water Treatment System In Malaysia
LOS ANGELES, PRNewswire -- OriginClear Inc. (OTC/QB: OCLN), a leading provider of water treatment solutions, today announced that its Joint Venture (JV) in Malaysia, OriginClear Water Solutions (OWS), has received a commercial scale purchase order from Envirogard, a water treatment systems engineering company based near Kuala Lumpur.
The assignment is to retrofit an underperforming landfill leachate treatment system with an EWS:AOx system. Required capacity is 100 m3 (approximately 26,000 gallons) of waste water per day, to be increased to 400 m3 (more than 100,000 gallons) per day, to manage peak flows during the rainy season beginning in October.
Rainwater causes runoff from landfills which is extremely difficult to treat, as the dense debris and high contamination level quickly overload membranes and filters. This runoff is called leachate, or "black water." Tests by OriginClear and its partners in Malaysia and China have shown that EWS:AOx effectively clarifies landfill leachate, to avoid such overloads. Scheduled for July, this is the first commercial rollout of EWS:AOx in a landfill setting.

OCLN Master Research Agreement with Florida Atlantic University
LOS ANGELES, PRNewswire/ -- OriginClear Inc. (OCLN), a leading provider of water treatment solutions, today announced that the Company has entered into a Master Research Agreement (the Agreement) with Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in Boca Raton, FL. The Agreement establishes a cooperative framework for further scientific research and validation projects pertaining to OriginClear's technology, Electro Water Separation with Advanced Oxidation (EWS:AOx), when applied to landfill leachate treatment.
"OriginClear's electrochemical oxidation process shows great promise in reducing effluent concentrations of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and ammonia in leachate with very short reaction times," said Dr. Dan Meeroff, Associate Chair and Professor at FAU's Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatics Engineering. "New advances in anode technology make this process even more exciting and less expensive, as it has the potential to achieve excellent removal of a range of organic and inorganic constituents."
"Known as 'black water,' landfill leachate is a major challenge worldwide," said Jean-Louis Kindler, President of OriginClear's Technology Division. "We are making commercial progress in China and Malaysia, and with this partnership, we look forward to bringing our high-speed leachate process to North America."
When rain or ground water flows through municipal and industrial waste landfill, leachate drains from the landfill as "black water." This leachate is a highly contaminated and complex industrial effluent. Untreated leachate can contaminate nearby soil, groundwater and surface water and lead to a health risk for local communities. China as well as other countries are implementing increasingly drastic discharge regulations for this effluent. Additionally, there is a growing awareness in the United States of the potential risks linked to leachate contamination.
OriginClear believes that its technology is valuable to the industry because it has the potential to greatly extend the life of membranes and filters by effectively treating very dirty, oily water, while reducing chemical use significantly. OriginClear also believes that its Advanced Oxidation technology will help neutralize harmful micro-contaminants, such as industrial solvents, which is difficult or impossible to achieve with other technologies. (from company PR)
OriginClear's oil frack water work continues...
Last year we proved ourselves in the nation’s most productive oil county, working with an industry water treatment agency.
This is attracting licensees and oil companies in the USA as well as Asia.
About the USA, I can say very little. But we are doing well, to say the least.
Positive signs from the White House: The incoming administration has begun to make appointments that reflect its stated plans to build up water infrastructure. The Fresno Bee reported in an editorial that "Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Tulare, a bulldog on water, is an executive member of Trump's transition team. The incoming administration also has appointed a Westlands Water District lobbyist, David Bernhardt, to head the Interior Department transition team that will make recommendations on policies and personnel."
Opportunities for companies like OriginClear: "According to the United Nations, despite having a population of 1.35 billion – 21 percent of the world's population – China only has 7 percent of the world's freshwater supplies. One large contributing factor is China's rapid economic growth, fueled by heavy water consumption for production processes. Furthermore, considering 60 percent of the country's underground water is polluted, the country's pollution problems also contribute to the freshwater supply shortage. Capital expenditure on industrial water and wastewater treatment in China is set to increase by nearly 25 percent over the next five years, reaching $6.8 billion in 2020." (company PR)
OriginClear Enters Agricultural Waste Water Treatment in Europe's Largest Pig Producing Country
LOS ANGELES and ZARAGOZA, Spain, PRNewswire/ -- OriginClear Inc. (OTC/QB: OCLN), a leading provider of water treatment solutions, today announced its entry into the agricultural waste water treatment market. Spanish farming equipment manufacturing company, Montajes Longares, is launching a spinoff to commercialize its patented Depuporc® pig manure slurry cleanup system, and has licensed OriginClear's Electro Water Separation™ (EWS) to help clarify and sanitize the slurry for water reuse and fertilizer applications.
In Spain alone, there are more than 85,000 farms breeding more than 26 million pigs at any one time, making Spain the largest pig producer in Europe, and third in the world after China and the USA. EU regulations are tightening around nitrates discharge, creating increasing pressure on animal farmers to treat their effluents.
"For some time, we've been interested in the agricultural waste water treatment market," said Jean-Louis "JL" Kindler, President of OriginClear's Technology Division. "Our technology is well-suited to extracting organic contaminants and sanitizing agricultural waste water, and pig manure slurry is a great first application in this large and growing market. We're excited to have a partner who is licensing our technology into their patented system to solve agricultural water treatment challenges."
"We expect to use OriginClear's EWS to significantly reduce the need for chemicals such as coagulants and flocculants, while reducing equipment cost and footprint, and operating expense," said Francisco Longares Valero, CEO and co-founder of Depuporc S.L. "We plan to supply agricultural operators and service companies with mobile treatment units having a capacity of 7 m3 (metric tons) of water per hour, or more than 50,000 gallons per day, and fixed onsite plants able to treat between 15,000 and 25,000 m3, or as much as 10 million gallons, per year."
As part of its licensing commitment, Depuporc has acquired an OriginClear laboratory-scale unit to help its engineering team design and build a pilot system for immediate deployment at the site of a prospective client. With full support from its parent company, Depuporc has all the necessary resources for design, engineering, manufacturing, as well as commissioning and maintenance.
The Depuporc system is an integrated solution for livestock waste treatment that processes animal waste through various phases of filtering and separation, providing a source of recycled water for farm cleaning and irrigation. Depuporc S.L. plans to have the first pilot in operation before summer 2017.
According to Research and Markets, "the global agricultural waste water treatment (WWT) market has been estimated at USD 15.05 billion in 2015 and is projected to grow at a CAGR of 8.64% during the forecast period. The agricultural WWT majorly includes manure management nutrient capture, renewable electricity, and anaerobic digestion. There are more than 3,000 upcoming projects in the next 5 years, which are majorly located on dairy, swine or livestock farms since manure is a consistent and reliable supply of wastewater."
Despite record rainfall, California's drought is far from over
LOS ANGELES /PRNewswire/ -- OriginClear Inc. (OTC/QB: OCLN), a leading provider of water treatment solutions, today acknowledged the importance of focusing California's efforts on water conservation and reuse despite recent the recent heavy rains.
"California and other parts of America are experiencing record levels of rainfall this year," said Riggs Eckelberry, OriginClear CEO, in a recent interview conducted by Kinsley Street Investors Group. "But water waste is still a problem. For example, in California alone, nearly 60% of freshwater allocated to farming is lost to evaporation and runoff. And in Los Angeles, 80% of the rain goes into the ocean."
"The amazing rains of this season have given us a golden opportunity — to waste less water, clean it up for reuse, and be smarter about how we use it," continued Eckelberry. "OriginClear is here to help – with a breakthrough water treatment technology and a strong network of water treatment companies, including Progressive Water Treatment."
Last summer, OriginClear successfully completed a 60-day test of its technology in California's Kern County, to help thoroughly clean produced water from oil and gas operations for reuse in agriculture.
In a sign of increasing adoption by the oil and gas industry, this year's Hart Energy's latest DUG (Developing Unconventional Gas) conference will feature a water forum, which will "deliver insights on best practices and new technologies used in the sourcing, treatment, transport and disposal of water in drilling and completion of shale wells."
In 2017, OriginClear intends to achieve the following:
Further growth for PWT in large capacity system sales.
Serving end-users and licensees with complete systems that incorporate our breakthrough technology.
Revenue growth from our joint ventures and licenses in the oil industry in the USA, in industrial applications in Asia, and in water purification applications in the Middle East.
Continued efforts to acquire successful, profitable water service companies that can benefit from the major outsourcing and decentralizing trend in industrial water treatment.
In 2016, OriginClear accomplished the following:
Its PWT subsidiary upgraded water systems for three large public utilities, including Xcel Energy, raising the total for these utility-scale water projects to approximately $3.5 million. By modernizing these plants, capacity increased significantly while labor and chemical costs were reduced.
Its French joint venture, Ennesys, completed a field pilot in Dubai of its FREEWATERBOX® modular waste water treatment system and partnered with a leading landscaping company in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Countries) to build the first FREEWATERBOX intended to recycle 20 tons of food waste per day into clean water and high value fertilizer.
OriginClear launched a joint venture in Texas to market an injectable crude oil sweetening liquid, produced with OriginClear technology. Sweet crude commands a 10% premium over sour, making this a potentially valuable treatment.
Its joint venture in Malaysia began working with major growers to demonstrate its ability to treat Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME). Totaling more than 65 million metric tons annually, POME effluent is widely recognized as a major environmental concern because its contamination level can be 100 times higher than domestic sewage.
OriginClear's China subsidiary entered commercial negotiations after a successful demonstration of its ability to clean up the contaminants in 'black water' leachate coming out of landfills. OriginClear is continuing to pilot its process for a landfill leachate treatment system in China.
A regional water treatment facility in California's Kern County commissioned a 60-day test of OriginClear's technology to treating produced water from oil operations. Extensive third-party testing demonstrated that the technology was a technical success. OriginClear is currently in discussions with licensees and large end-users for the commercialization of produced water treatment in this leading region for oil production.
OriginClear enhanced its Electro Water Separation technology by pairing it with Advanced Oxidation, a patent-pending, chemical-free way to extract dissolved contaminants, such as bacteria, ammonia, pharmaceuticals and solvents. This complements the EWS technology, which effectively clarifies very dirty, oily water so that membranes and filters can do their job without clogging.
OriginClear was awarded the prestigious China BlueTech Award in the "Most Innovative Technology" category. Co-organized by Mandarin Environment and BlueTech™ Research, the China BlueTech™ Awards recognized OriginClear's EWS technology for its potential to break through in both the Chinese and international markets.
