Idaho clamps down on its RINOS
By Molly Slag
Would you like to hear about a bright ray of political sunshine penetrating the dense political cloud cover?
The Republican Party has long been haunted by the specter of platform infidelity on the part of the party’s elected officeholders. Far too often, a Republican candidate fervently vows fidelity to the party platform during a campaign but, once elected, sheds this fervor like a duck sheds water. The officeholder’s primary agenda becomes re-election, and his/her stance on issues is determined by its probable effect on re-election rather than advancing platform values.
So many Republican officeholders have displayed such a high rate of platform infidelity that a new term has been coined to describe them: “RINO,” aka “Republican in Name Only.”
However, party loyalty is a two-way street. Infidelity is a game two can play. An elected officeholder may, by his/her infidelity to the party, induce voter infidelity, too—and that’s what happened in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This past November, for the first time ever in that rare conservative redoubt of a very blue state, an independent was elected mayor.
Now, something similar is afoot in Idaho.
At the June 2023 Idaho GOP summer meeting, the state GOP central committee adopted a platform-enforcement rule authorizing the state and local central committees “to call into question the conduct of a Republican official” regarding fidelity to the party platform or the state and federal constitutions.
Here’s section 3 of Article 20 of the newly-revised platform:
Section 3: The Idaho Republican State Central Committee, Legislative District Committees, and County Central Committees are hereby empowered to call into question the conduct of a Republican elected official; give fair consideration to alleged violations and provide a meaningful opportunity for the official to be heard...
Upon receiving a petition, the central committees must schedule a meeting to hear the alleged violations and allow the GOP official to respond. A majority of the committee can then vote to censure the official. Subsequent censures with a 60% majority would “remove Party support and prohibit the use of Republican Party identifiers on campaign information and advertising” during the individual’s current term and any other campaigns for five years.
Almost immediately, using this authority, Bonneville County’s Legislative District 32 censured three Republican legislators for platform infidelity.
The censured politicians made their sentiments known in the opinion pages of the two Idaho Falls newspapers, the East Idaho News and the Post Register. Strikingly, they did not even attempt to defend their actions. Instead, they objected to the party’s chutzpa in attempting to enforce the platform.
One can feel their pain as Idaho RINOs suddenly realize they are sailing too close to the wind. Who would ever have thought that lowly party plebeians would ever insist on patrician fidelity to the party platform? The nerve of these little people!
What these politicians do not grasp is that a political party is a private association of citizens banding together to bring their views to the attention of their elected officials. Their views are summarized in their party platform. If the party platform were not enforced, there would be no reason to have a party.
How refreshing to see rank-and-file Republicans rear up on their hind legs and snarl at their betters.

Snopes has finally gotten around to debunking the ‘very fine people’ hoax
By Andrea Widburg
the site degraded in quality very quickly at this time. It also took a hard left turn. And because all hard leftists are humorless scolds who ape the old Soviet apparatchiks for whom a joke was an arrestable offense, Snopes even went so far as to fact-check The Babylon Bee.
'We cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow': The leadership we need today
By Ronald Beaty
Eight score and seven years ago, our nation's greatest leader, Abraham Lincoln, stood on the blood-soaked grounds of Gettysburg and reminded us that government of the people, by the people, and for the people shall not perish from this Earth.
Today, as we face the challenges of a divided nation, we would do well to recall the wisdom and courage that Lincoln embodied.
We need leaders who understand that our democracy is not a relic of the past, but a living, breathing experiment in self-government.
We need leaders who recognize that the struggles of our ancestors were not in vain, and that the sacrifices of those who have come before us demand that we continue to strive for a more perfect union.
We need leaders who will put the people above party, above power, and above personal gain. We need leaders who will work tirelessly to ensure that government truly is of the people, by the people, and for the people – not just the privileged few.
Leaders who will fight for the rights of the marginalized, the oppressed, and the vulnerable. Leaders who will stand up to the special interests and corporate powers that seek to undermine our democracy.
We need leaders who will unite us, not divide us. Who will appeal to our better angels, not our basest instincts. Who will remind us that we are not red or blue, but red, white, and blue. Leaders who will seek common ground, not perpetuate gridlock and partisan strife. Leaders who will work across party lines to find solutions to our nation's problems, rather than simply scoring political points.
We need leaders who will stand up to the forces of hate, of bigotry, and of discrimination. Leaders who will recognize that our nation's greatness is not measured by our military might or our economic power, but by our ability to provide for the common good, to promote the general welfare, and to secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.
We need leaders who will not use the language of hate, of fear, of division, but who will speak to our hopes, our dreams, and our aspirations. Leaders who will inspire us to be our best selves, who will challenge us to live up to our highest ideals, and who will remind us that we are capable of greatness. Leaders who will call us to embrace our shared values of justice, equality, and freedom, and to work towards a brighter future for all.
We need leaders who will recognize the urgent threats facing our nation and our world, from climate change to economic inequality, from racial injustice to political corruption. Leaders who will not shrink from the challenges of our time, but who will rise to meet them with courage, with vision, and with a commitment to the common good.
In short, we need leaders who will truly put the people first. Who will truly put country over party. Who will truly put the common good above personal gain. Leaders who will be guided by the wisdom of Lincoln's words, and who will strive to build a nation that is truly of the people, by the people, and for the people.
Let us not forget the lessons of Gettysburg. Let us not forget the sacrifices of those who have come before us. Let us not forget the wisdom of Lincoln's words. Let us not forget the power of our democracy, and the potential of our nation to be a beacon of hope and freedom for the world.
The fate of our democracy depends on it. The future of our nation depends on it. The future of our world depends on it.
We cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow this ground – or this nation – without the leadership that truly puts the people first. The leadership that truly puts country over party. The leadership that truly puts the common good above personal gain.
The time for such leadership is now. The need for such leadership is urgent. The fate of our democracy, our nation, and our world depends on it.

Hur was right -- kind of
By Silvio Canto, Jr.
President Biden's chief problem is that our eyes tell us a different story. I don't have to be a doctor or psychiatrist to know that there is a problem. It does not help that President Biden is in the middle of some real disasters, from the border to Afghanistan and rampant crime in our cities. And to make matters worse, he looks oblivious to the events.

It is Your Economy .. yours, mine, our family, friends and neighbors -- EVERYONE to some degree is touched by the markets and their behavior. So we should be aware of the various mechanisms that make the markets and our economy tick. We live in a new era where politics, rumor, weather and just about anything you can think of effects the markets and our economy in some way, shape or form. Like it or not we are globally tied at the hip and in this new era where the advent of technology and the internet pushes information to the edge of the envelope, we can only hope to keep up with the many challenges ahead and the speed at which they develop. Technology is a double-edged sword and unfortunately can be used for good as well as evil, it just depends on who is holding the sword. This board was created to follow news, markets, stocks, cycles, trends, indicators and most of all to communicate and share ideas. Humor and Cartoons are welcome here, it breaks up the monotony from time to time and I am alays game for a good joke. I enjoy data mining, especially for info that the MSM (Main Stream Media) fail to or are not allowed to report. We must see things from all angles and aspects in order to verify what is true and what is false, basically becoming more atune to separating the wheat from the chaff. Hopefully in the long run this will help us all to make better and more sound decisions. This board is/was basically an information board, but all are welcome to post, (actually I encourage it because looking through another's eyes gives more perspective on issues). We can never learn too much about these ever changing times and the economy at hand.
* I have only a couple of rules and that is if you should post; NO PURE POLITICS or RELIGION and as always expected, please PLAY NICE !!!
>>>
>>>
NOTE: What is meant by "pure politics" as stated in this boards' iBox decriptiion is just that.., it has no real ties to the economy and is mainly a composition of political innuendo. As I assume most of you know, it is difficult at times to separate politics from the economy due to the fact that politics plays a very large part in our everyday lives; be it on an economical, personal or other level altogether. Therefore this has created problems in the discernment of which posts should stay or go due to their leaning too far toward the political side and are slight on economic issues. As hard as my assistants and I try, we cannot please everyone. But we do what we do and want to be fair, we do want what should stay as part of this forums curricular. Everyone has an opinion and/or wants to be heard and I will do whatever I can to help ensure that is what takes place and hopefully most will not feel as though they are being targeted or alienated.
In the end all I can ask is that you be patient if a post of yours has been deleted, yet it has economic undertones that state otherwise and you feel should remain. If you feel you have been wronged - relax, sit back and PM me and I will make a final judgement. I am rather liberal, therefore more times than not I most likely will restore your post if it has merit and/or fallen between the cracks. Things happen or are interpreted differently and sometimes incorrectly, we are human. So do NOT throw a hissy fit nor become a foul mouth fool. Also PM harassment is frowned upon and should carry a level of disciplinary action, but I will leave that up to iHub Admin. Besides all that life is too precious to spend in a tirade. These types of behavior will get you no where except a closer view of the exit.. Treat people as you would like to be treated and we can work through most issues. It all starts with civil dialogue, respect for another's opinion even if not agreed upon. An agreement to disagree is the way I like to see things conclude when minds cannot meld. Just because an agreement cannot be reached does not mean we automatically have to trash another for their views and/or opinions. Let's face it, we all want better, we all want to be part of something bigger than ourselves and we all want to gain an edge in the game of life. This cannot be accomplished without an open mind and a certain level of tolerance for all that speak out.
As a matter of fact I encourage as many of you as possible to post, even if it is just once a month. You don't have to take the world by storm, it could be about something as simple as a neighborhood observation such as more homes up for sale than in months past or how empty the parking lots are at a traditionally known hot spot. Post an article or commentary that hits close to home, test the waters and see if others have seen similar events around the country. We have at our fingertips virtually 100s of libraries of information and cyber chat connections we can use to find out how different aspects of the economy are doing all around the nation. I truly believe we all have a lot to contribute and share and while we all will never see eye to eye on every subject or then again maybe none at all, but different points of view may enhance our own outlook or the way we see and do things. Right or wrong, the world is constantly evolving and technology will begin to pick up speed by leaps and bounds So we could serve each other better if we take what is posted for face value instead of an opportunity to lambaste someone that sees things in a different light than our own preconditioned mindset. When opposing views are met with hostile impositions it is of no service to anyone. I certainly would not want a cult following or a bunch of "yes" men setting the tone for this forum, I want diversity !!! Variety is the spice of life !!! You cannot expand your horizons if you automatically shut down and feel as though you have it all figured out. I got news for you, you don't and you won't until you are lying on your death bed. I do not care who you are or how worldly and educated you may be, we never stop learning unless we hold ourselves back with preconceived notions. Knowledge IS Power...
AND if you should feel the need to post on an otherwise different, yet similar stage:
Your Economy OT - Conspiracy, Politics, Religion, Terrorism, War (whatever else you can think of) (YE2OT)
It's open and ready for business. Over there you can post whatever you like to your hearts content, especially political/economic articles and commentary that does not quite fit in at YE1. So now you have 2 boards - One for economics, markets, trends, data, news, commentary, etc. - a more serious site for those who want the straight dope. And now the YE2OT board for everything else. I will play Moderator, but I am taking applications for an assistant who would control 90%+ of the interaction over there.
If people choose, they can travel between boards if they need a fix of some controlled chaos at YE2OT and then want some cold hard facts as (YE1) was intended.
I want everyone to have a voice, now you have a choice .. enjoy
