Chuck Hunter said that international orders currently are in single digits. He stated that within 3 years, international sales will be at 30%.
Government is currently evaluating the new snipper light. The product line is growing and some lights are being sold in packages. Very good news
Very good movement lately on decent volume. If there the big fed contract is granted, this is going to skyrocket. The fed contract would bring in revs of over 50 million a year for the next 3 years. Easy move to 5 and possible beyond
Isn't it exciting. The conference is this week

looks like the entire product line is there
I think this will do really well long term but it sure does jump around on low volume. My main issue is that it is not very liquid for a listed stock. If someone with a 50k position wants in or out the stock will move 30% unless they spread it out over a week.
This thing is ready. Listen to the Roth conference statements

Xenonics' SuperVision Plays Key Role in Arrest of One of Fort Worth Area's Ten Most Wanted
Thursday October 18, 12:15 pm ET
CARLSBAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--"Following a car pursuit late that night, the bad guy hid in a heavily wooded area. When our search team flushed him out, one of my officers on the perimeter used Xenonics' SuperVisionTM to see the suspect sneaking out under the cover of darkness -- or so he thought. We apprehended him in a tunnel nearby. This particular bad guy was on Tarrant County's 10 most wanted list, and had evaded us seven times before," said Sergeant Richard Dotson, Fort Worth Police Department.
Xenonics CEO Chuck Hunter said, "We are gratified that our patented and proprietary SuperVision high-definition night vision played a key role in nighttime surveillance leading up to this important arrest. The experience of Sergeant Dotson and his team clearly demonstrates how law enforcement officers can do their jobs better and more safely with SuperVision. We believe that SuperVision, a new category of night vision, will be a vital tool for police departments across the country."
SuperVision is a hand-held, lightweight night viewing system that uses a sophisticated CCD sensor and digital signal processor to transform ambient light that is invisible to the naked eye into a sharp and clear image on an HDTV display. SuperVision provides unprecedented resolution, clarity, and range, and offers up to 8x zoom capability, something no other vision system can match.
According to Sergeant Dotson, "My team addresses high priority special crime issues in Fort Worth, so we are involved in surveillance, pursuit and apprehension of criminals every day. With the enhanced performance and safety that SuperVision provides, we can take back the night from the bad guys. SuperVision's zoom capability helps me position my officers for better cover, distance and control than Gen III night vision. SuperVision is a fantastic law enforcement tool that increases our efficiency and allows us to operate in ways we never could before."

You Can Own the Night - Police Mag Oct 2007
http://www.policemag.com/Articles/2007/10/You-Can-Own-the-Night.aspx
October 2007
Cover Story
Bad guys count on darkness to hide them from the law, but with night vision gear you can shed some light on them.
by André M. Dall’au
The greatest challenge that any chief or sheriff faces when deciding to equip his or her officers with night vision is how to justify the cost. No doubt the powers that be—meaning the bean counters—will see NV gear as exotic and expensive toys with little or no use in everyday police work.
Nothing could be further from the truth. While NV stuff can be pricey; it can also quite literally be a life-saver.
Let's take a quick look at some examples of how night vision equipment has made a difference in a variety of law enforcement operations.
SWAT Operations
During the first weeks following Hurricane Katrina's strike on New Orleans many areas of the city were still out of control, especially at night. The Gentilly district was rough before the storm and now was completely cut off from the world.
Accessing the area required traversing many blocks by water, then embarking on a lengthy foot patrol in total darkness. Five members of the East Baton Rouge Parish SWAT team's
maritime component were dispatched into the center of Gentilly for a midnight rescue of eight trapped and terrified survivors. A local university was torched and burning that night only about a mile away and signs of heavy looting were everywhere.
The SWAT deputies realized that if they used white light during the operation they would expose themselves to potential sniper fire. Fortunately, they had recently been issued new helmet-mounted ITT PVS-14 monoculars. Using the PVS-14s, the team was able to locate and extract the grateful survivors.
As a result of this successful operation, all of the operators on the entire team have now been equipped and trained with ITT Night Vision equipment. Notably, the entire team recently passed the SWAT firearms qualification course in total darkness, using only ITT helmet-mounted night vision and M-4 mounted IR lasers
Suspect Searches
Some time ago, the St. Peters (Mo.) Police Department was notified that a female shoplifter was stealing products used to make crystal methamphetamine from a local store. When the store security guard confronted the woman, her male partner, who was waiting in the parking lot, drove the getaway vehicle into the guard. The guard was pinned against the wall of the store and killed. The woman jumped into the truck, and they drove off, resulting in a chase through several neighborhoods. The fleeing driver lost control and crashed through a fence and drove into a swimming pool. The female was caught after a short chase, but the male ran off though the subdivision.
After numerous officers and K-9 units could not locate the male suspect an officer from the nearby O'Fallon (Mo.) Police Department was called in to search using only night vision goggles to navigate.
"After about 30 minutes I was walking slowly through a yard when I observed the suspect hiding in a bed of flowers," the officer said. "Due to the fact that he could not see me, I was able to walk up directly behind him. He was taken into custody before he could run again." Both suspects pleaded guilty to second degree murder. "Had it not been for my use of night vision equipment, I am sure that the suspect would have eluded the police that evening."
Burglary Surveillance
Most burglars will operate until caught, committing hundreds of crimes and victimizing thousands of citizens. Recently, a highly skilled serial night burglar working a Texas city even managed to pick the lock of a "bait house" and get away because the officers and detectives staking out the house were unable to see him in the dark.
However, the officers turned the tables on the perp a few nights later at another bait house. This time, as before, officers using only their naked eyes couldn't track the suspect's approach because he stayed in shadows and used trees and bushes for concealment. But an officer with a night vision unit quietly radioed, "I've got him. He's just stopped moving and is in the shadows next to the house." The NVG-equipped officer never lost sight of him as he crept through an open garage door. He was arrested at gunpoint and eventually sentenced to 25 years after being tied to more than 500 residential burglaries.
Popping Peepers
In South Dakota a sheriff's office received a complaint from a woman who felt she was being watched at night while she was home alone. With her knowledge, a deputy with night vision goggles was assigned to observe the approaches to her house.
The first night, the deputy spotted a suspect coming toward the house. From the driveway, the subject checked to ensure that no one was watching, then moved to a position at the woman's window. While the peeping perp focused on trying to violate the woman's privacy, the deputy walked right up to him. "He had no idea anyone else was out there," the deputy said later. The offender "almost died of fright" when the lawman identified himself and placed the astonished man under arrest.
1,001 Uses
OK. That's an exaggeration, but NV gear can be an invaluable tool whether it's used in a patrol car in a small town in Minnesota or in a Border Patrol chopper skimming over the Arizona desert.
"Patrol officers only need to get this equipment into their hands and see what it can do for them," says former police chief Tom Dugan who now works as law enforcement projects coordinator for ITT Night Vision, the leading manufacturer of the most advanced generation of image intensifier technology. "Once they see the rewards, they fight to get more."
There is an impressive cross-section of basic patrol applications where night vision capabilities can enhance an officer's safety and suspect apprehension:
* Patrolling disaster areas or after a catastrophic event where prolonged power outages have left areas without lights and have brought the "roaches" out of the woodwork.
* During search-and-rescue assignments, particularly in rugged or wooded areas where darkness may otherwise force a halt to the life-saving activity.
* Foot pursuits, to identify otherwise obscured hazards like tree limbs, clotheslines, stumps, breaks in pavement that could trip, bump, or blind an unknowing officer.
* Approaching domestic disturbances calls and other potentially unstable situations, especially in remote rural areas where NVG can help give the officers situational control.
* While on patrol of public property such as parks and schoolyards or abandoned structures where you may need to monitor people and surroundings before approaching.
* Rolling up to suspected gang or narcotics scenes that you'd prefer to have scanned for known suspects and possible weapons before contact.
How to Buy Night Vision
OK, we've covered why you need night vision equipment, now it's time to look at what you need and how to get it.
The first thing you need to know about night vision is how it works. This is how it works: It magnifies available light such as star light—hence the term "starlight scope" back in the Vietnam days. How it does this is the subject of a related story on this page. But what you need to understand about this is that night vision will not work in a totally dark area. There has to be some light source, no matter how faint, for the tube to do its magic.
Finally, it's important that you realize that night vision gear is an optical system, not some magical technology. And because it is an optical system, you should judge it accordingly. The key concerns about a night vision device—other than form factor and that it does what you need it to do—are light magnification capability and resolution.
The resolution of an image intensifier tube, the sharpness of its image at a given range, is expressed in line pairs per millimeter (lp/mm). Higher numbers reflect better resolution. In the real world, better resolution means you can determine the difference between a pool cue and a rifle when doing so is critical to your mission.
Another spec that you need to look at when shopping for NV gear is the magnification. This tells you how much the tube magnifies. Gen 3 tubes intensify existing light approximately 40,000 times the power of the original source.
Finally, different jobs require different capability. You may be able to save some money by using Generation 2 equipment for some applications. Generation 3 tubes last a lot longer and have better resolution, but the price differential is high.
Who Makes/Sells This Stuff
All Generation 3 (Gen 3) image intensifier "tubes" are made by one of two companies: ITT or Northrup-Grumman. By far, ITT makes the most tubes. So odds are that even if you buy your gear from some other company (other than the
SuperVision digital system), the night vision element was produced by ITT, who makes money on the deal and therefore doesn't discourage competition on features and price from companies that either distribute ITT's product line under their own brand or use ITT tubes in their own lines of monoculars, binoculars, sights, and surveillance systems.
Let's take a look at some of the offerings from these companies, and let's start with ITT itself.
ITT
While resolution varies slightly from tube to tube, ITT night vision tubes can have as much as three times the resolution of various Gen 3 competitors. That explains why the company has a virtual stranglehold on the U.S. military night vision market.
ITT's PVS-14 monocular is the world's most popular night vision device. One of the reasons for its popularity is its versatility. The PVS-14 can be used as a handheld unit, mounted on a helmet or weapon, or attached to a camera for recording or transmission. Features include variable gain control.
In addition to the ubiquitous PVS-14, ITT makes a wide variety of binoculars, weapon sights, and even systems for aviation applications.

Adams Industries
Formerly known as LAMSA or LAMSA Weapons Systems, Adams Industries sells night vision gear to law enforcement and military customers. The family owned company says on its Website that it does it all for the men and women who protect freedom and "keep the wolves away from the door."
Adams sells a wide variety of monoculars, binoculars, and weapons-mounted devices with Gen 2 or Gen 3 tubes. Its latest PVS-14 monocular offers a greater than 64 lp/mm resolution Gen 3 tube and features manual gain adjustment.

N-Vision Optics
N-Vision Optics is a distributor of tactical night vision equipment such as ITT's PVS-14 in addition to being a manufacturer of high-quality products, including Gen 3 and Gen 2 monoculars, binoculars, and weapon sights.
Two of N-Vision Optics' most popular products are the GT-14 Night Vision Monocular and the GT-22 Night Vision Weapon Sight. Both devices are manufactured by N-Vision using ITT Gen 3 image intensifier tubes.
The GT-14 monocular features an innovative ergonomic design that enhances user comfort when operating the device with one hand. It can also be helmet mounted. The lightweight system runs on one CR-123 battery and features a built-in infrared illuminator so that you can read maps and make equipment repairs in total darkness.
N-Vision's GT-22 Night Vision Weapons Sight is designed for use with daytime weapons optics. It easily mounts on any Picatinny rail and offers 100-percent image coverage through most scopes. The GT-22 is powered by one or two standard AA batteries and offers excellent tactical power management. One of its best features is a centrally located push-to-turn power control switch.

Night Vision Systems
An ITT Night Enforcer master distributor, NVS sells a complete line of Gen 3 PVS-7 and PVS-14 optics. In addition, the company makes three clip-on night vision rifle sights: M810, M820, and M830. All of the sights feature Gen 3 tubes and offer half MOA boresight retention. The recognition range for a man-size target is 250 meters for the M830, 500 meters for the M810, and 800 meters for the M820. They range in weight from less than 1.25 pounds to 3.19 pounds.

Sensor Technology Systems
Founded in 1991, Sensor Technology specializes in the design and manufacture of low-profile night vision goggles. Its flagship product is the AN/PVS-21 low-profile NVG. The goggle looks like that thing the optometrist uses to test your vision when he says, "Which is sharper? One? Or two?" But it's a state-of-the-art Gen 3 night vision system.
The idea behind the low-profile goggles is that this design allows an operator to move more quickly and more aggressively than standard monocular and binocular systems. It also has a better center of gravity than larger systems, which means it offers greater comfort if you have to wear the thing for more than an hour or so. The Sensor Tech PVS-21 weighs only 760 grams and offers a 40-degree field of view.

SPA-SIMRAD
Southern Precision Armory (SPA) is the exclusive U.S. supplier of SIMRAD Optronics. The SIMRAD KN203FAB-MARK IV and KN253FAB-MARK IV Night Vision Systems are "clip-on" image intensifier devices that attach to existing day optics, including spotting scopes, rifle scopes, and laser rangefinders. All of the SIMRAD models feature ITT tubes.
The SIMRAD KN203FAB-MARK IV and KN253FAB-MARK IV Night Vision Systems are commercially available. Gen 3 systems like the SIMRAD KN203FAB and KN253FAB are only offered to law enforcement and military customers.

SuperVision
Produced by Xenonics Holdings, SuperVision is a very different kind of night vision device. You won't see a reference to Gen 2 or Gen 3 tubes when you look at the specs of the SuperVision. It's digital, and it uses a CCD like you would find in a digital camera or scanner rather than an image intensifying tube. The image is captured in pixels and viewed on a high-resolution display.
The benefits to a CCD vs. an image intensifier are pretty easy to understand. First of all, CCDs are a lot cheaper. The
SuperVision has a suggested retail price of $1,399, considerably lower than a Gen 3 monocular. Second, they don't wear out as quickly as image intensifier tubes.
Xenonics says SuperVision offers comparable performance to Gen 3 night vision. The system features 1280x768 resolution, a 2- to 8X zoom, and a field of view of 525 feet at 1,000 yards.

Paying the Price
Overall, the main reason that every LEO does not have NV gear is the cost. Fortunately, many companies have programs to assist you in obtaining funding. ITT's Grant Assistance Program offers free grant writing assistance from a certified grant writer who works with public safety agencies to simplify the grant process. CARLSBAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--XENONICS HOLDINGS, INC. (AMEX:XNN - News), a leader in advanced illumination and low-light viewing technologies, today announced financial results for the third quarter of fiscal 2007, highlighted by initial revenue from its patented and proprietary SuperVision(TM) low-light viewing system launched during the quarter.

Financial Results
For the three months ended June 30, 2007, revenue increased 20% to $1,023,000, including SuperVision revenue of $593,000 and revenue from sales of its NightHunter high-intensity illumination products of $430,000. For the three months ended June 30, 2006, revenue was $855,000.

Selling, general and administrative expenses increased to $2,158,000 for the third quarter of fiscal 2007 compared to $827,000 for the third quarter of fiscal 2006, primarily reflecting higher advertising, trade show and other selling expenses associated with the SuperVision roll-out as well as $571,000 of non-cash charges related to options and warrants.
The net loss for this year's third quarter was $1,952,000, or $0.11 per share. This compares to a net loss for the third quarter of 2006 of $633,000, or $0.04 per share.

The net loss for this year's first nine months was $2,534,000, or $0.14 per share, compared to a net loss for the first nine months of the prior year of $2,241,000, or $0.14 per share.
At June 30, 2007, Xenonics reported working capital of $3,772,000 and stockholders' equity of $4,010,000. At September 30, 2006, working capital was $2,329,000 and stockholders' equity was $2,400,000. Xenonics has no debt.
Recent Developments
Chief Executive Officer Chuck Hunter said, "We are making steady progress in the implementation of our business plan for both our SuperVision and NightHunter product families."
Hunter continued, "We have achieved our initial target for SuperVision production capacity of up to 2,000 units per month, and are now focused on expanding and refining our marketing efforts and recruiting additional sales personnel to take full advantage of the commercial potential of our unique low-light vision system in recreational, public safety and other large markets. We recently announced that the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), which operates 'BX/PX' stores on U.S. military bases throughout the world, soon will begin carrying SuperVision in selected AAFES locations. AAFES joins Bass Pro Shops, Cabela's and other leading national accounts in our growing distribution network. We are pleased by our customers' enthusiastic response to SuperVision, and are confident that our product will gain traction in the marketplace in the months ahead.
"We also have recently introduced two new products in our NightHunter family of high-intensity illumination systems which address large market opportunities. Following two years of development, this week we will ship we recently shipped our new weapons-mounted illumination system, NightHunter3, to the U.S. Army for evaluation under the Crew Served Weapons program. With an initial program size of up to 70,000 systems, and procurement scheduled to begin in fiscal 2008, this program offers significant growth potential. In addition, the Army is now evaluating our tactical device designed for the Family of Flashlights (FoF) procurement program, and we are optimistic that the FoF program can become an additional growth opportunity for Xenonics," Hunter said. He added that Xenonics continues to anticipate significant orders from the Department of Defense for its NightHunter and NightHunterII illumination devices.

Xenonics Updates SuperVision Launch and Third Quarter Outlook
Monday July 9, 7:30 am ET
CARLSBAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--XENONICS HOLDINGS, INC. (AMEX:XNN - News), a leader in advanced illumination and low-light viewing technologies, today provided an update on the commercial launch of its patented SuperVision(TM) digital low-light viewing system and the outlook for the third quarter of fiscal 2007 ended June 30, 2007.
CEO Chuck Hunter said, "Response to the SuperVision launch has exceeded our expectations. We now have recruited manufacturer's representatives in all 50 states to service an Authorized Dealer network that today numbers 93 retailers, including Bass Pro Shops, Cabela's and other leading national sporting goods dealers as well as major accounts in public safety and other vertical markets. Later this month we will present SuperVision at the annual Nation's Best Sports (NBS) Show in Ft. Worth, one of the industry's most important trade shows. Our national advertising campaign in Popular Mechanics, National Rifle Association member magazines, Law and Order magazine, and other targeted publications is also stimulating interest in our proprietary digital low-light viewing system."
The CEO continued, "We have fully resolved a vendor supply issue that caused SuperVision production to fall below our plan in May and early June, and production has now ramped up to our targeted pace. While we currently expect third quarter revenue to be below our prior expectations, we anticipate significant growth beginning in the current quarter as SuperVision shipments accelerate."
About SuperVision
SuperVision is a patented hand-held, digital low-light viewing system that uses a sophisticated CCD sensor and digital signal processor to transform energy invisible to the naked eye into a sharp and clear image on an HDTV high-resolution display. SuperVision exceeds the performance of conventional night vision systems while offering the unparalleled benefit of up to 8x zoom magnification.

How a Water Pack Grew
To Be Soldiers' Essential
By JONATHAN KARP
Staff Reporter of The Wall Street Journal.
From The Wall Street Journal Online
An avid cyclist living in the scorching heat of central Texas, Chuck Hunter staggered into a bike shop in 1997 and says he succumbed to a "cute" saleswoman's pitch. He left wearing a water-filled backpack with a tube extending to his mouth so that he could drink without reaching for a water bottle.
Two years after that first sip, Mr. Hunter quit his job at Lockheed Martin Corp. to join the company that made the backpack-canteen, CamelBak Products LLC. At the time, the small firm had a devoted clientele of mountain bikers and counterculture types; for example, CamelBaks were ubiquitous at Burning Man, a radical art festival held each summer in the Nevada desert.
Mr. Hunter, a former fighter pilot, sensed an emerging market among a different breed of desert dweller: the U.S. soldier. Now CamelBak's senior vice president for government, military and industrial business, he has turned the Petaluma, Calif., company into a global leader in so-called hydration systems, selling several million backpacks to troops in the U.S. and some 50 foreign armies. The Pentagon, which recently placed a $17 million order so that it can issue CamelBaks to all soldiers heading to Iraq and Afghanistan, is the company's biggest customer.
That a cycling accessory could became the canteen of choice for soldiers around the world demonstrates how innovative nondefense companies have fueled growth by capitalizing on the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and the ensuing wars. Even before the London bombings this month, Britain had approved funds to equip police and first-responders with CamelBak systems designed to keep drinking water safe in a chemical or biological attack. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's new emphasis on unconventional threats heralds further growth potential for CamelBak.
Other consumer products, such as Oakley Inc. sunglasses, Garmin Ltd. handheld global-positioning-system units and Under Armour clothing, have found fresh outlets in military sales. But military products have become CamelBak's dominant business. Instead of the "Hydration on the Move" motto geared to granola-eating fitness buffs, CamelBak's current slogan is "Hydrate or Die" -- emblazoned next to a flame-emitting skull.
CamelBak contends that pivoting between the two markets has helped product development. "The beauty of this company is that military requirements drive innovation and durability, and that goes right down the line to the recreational products," says Mr. Hunter. For instance, CamelBak developed sturdier materials and a silver-based, antigerm lining to keep water clean for troops, and then adapted these for cheaper retail packs. The company's products retail for between $25 and $120, and some military packs cost up to $200.
CamelBak was founded in 1989 in Texas by Michael Eidson, who concocted a hands-free drinking system because he felt that reaching for a bottle during bike races risked collisions. The prototype consisted of medical tubing and a plastic intravenous drip bag stuffed into a sock and attached to the back of a shirt. His timing was auspicious: The advent of mountain biking, ultramarathons and other extreme sports created a market-in-waiting.
The 1991 Gulf War also helped. Navy SEALs and special-forces troops who were biking enthusiasts took their own CamelBaks into combat. Word spread, as did CamelBak's civilian models on the shelves of military exchanges. In 1995, San Francisco firm Kransco, which had marketed Frisbees, Hula Hoops and Boogie Boards as a previous owner of Wham-O Inc., bought CamelBak for $4 million and stepped up military sales by introducing camouflaged models.
But the real military push started in 1999, when Mr. Hunter arrived. CamelBak launched a military line of products and moved to California's Sonoma County wine district north of San Francisco. Here, it set up a research center to develop products that could meet the Pentagon's exacting standards.
As much as soldiers liked the CamelBak concept, early models tended to "burst when grunts fell backwards onto them," says CamelBak R&D head Robert Choi. "It's harder to carry and deliver water than you'd think," he adds, walking through a lab where machines stretch, twist, squeeze and rapidly age polyurethane and silicone parts.
CamelBak's proprietary drinking nozzle, or bite valve, gets compressed 10,000 times to ensure it won't leak after three years of combat use. The company says it spent $1 million developing a reservoir liner to protect water in a sarin or mustard-gas attack. CamelBak has received 70,000 orders for this "chem-bio" water reservoirs since its launch last September, Mr. Hunter says. Belgium ordered several thousand units and has mandated that new gas masks must be compatible with CamelBak tube adapters.
Feedback from soldiers has been as important as lab tests in molding products. Snipers wanted a sleek, body-hugging pack, so CamelBak designed a 3.2-quart unit -- enough for three hours of activity -- that can fit under bullet-proof vests.
For a different kind of stealth, CamelBak worked with Dupont Co. and other companies to develop backpack material, straps and buckles that reduce infrared detection. CamelBak markets some two dozen military models, carrying as little as 1.6 quarts of water and no gear to packs that can hold 6.3 quarts of water and seven times that volume in gear.
"Marines love them. Very rarely these days do you see a Marine without a CamelBak cinched to his back," says Col. Michael Belcher, who commanded a Marine battalion in Iraq and is now based in the U.S. "There's less sloshing back and forth, and no hip pain."
Whereas soldiers used to hook three one-quart canteens onto their belts, now they typically carry a 3.2-quart CamelBak and one canteen -- which they might use only to refill the CamelBak. CamelBaks are part of the survival kits packed into ejection seats in many Air Force fighter planes.
In 2003, New York investment bank Bear Stearns Cos. bought CamelBak for more than $200 million. Bear Stearns doesn't disclose CamelBak's sales and profit figures. With more than 90% of the U.S. military market and solid brand awareness among troops, "We're like Kleenex. Everyone calls a hydration system a CamelBak," says product manager Shawn Cullen. The company's main military competitor is its biggest customer: The Army, working with a former canteen company, has fielded a similar hydration system.
CamelBak has a host of challengers in the civilian market, such as VF Corp.'s JanSport and North Face brands, but is counting on its brand recognition, new recreational models and a thrust into products for industrial workers to keep growing.
After branching out from cycling into running, skiing and hiking packs, CamelBak more recently has launched products for hunting, children and women -- a line that features tapered packs, softer materials and higher chest straps. Law-enforcement packs include easy-access pouches for weapons. A horseback-riding line is in the offing. Customers bombard the company with suggestions for packs designed to fight dehydration in every activity from fly fishing to plant watering. "Some uses could hurt the brand a bit," says Glenn Gross, CamelBak's chief executive.
Mr. Hunter's search for industrial customers has him pressing the flesh at events such as the World of Concrete trade show. But his work isn't done with the military. CamelBak must ensure, he says, that "the canteen is on the way out."

Smart Night Vision: The Digital Solution for Urban Policing
by Cameron Hopkins
Humans rely on eyesight for 90% of their sensory input about their physical world. Darkness is foreboding, even for well-armed, well-trained, and well-prepared professionals. That is why the ability to see in the dark is so important for law enforcement officers.
Our military counterparts use night vision devices to fulfill their primary mission, which is “To close with and destroy the enemy.” Cops are more concerned with the ability to conduct surveillance and gather evidence or collect intelligence. For that reason, conventional night vision goggles, which were developed for the military, may not be the best solutions for police work.
Without getting bogged down in a lot of night vision trivia and technology, a quick rundown on how military night vision works and why it was developed is important. This helps us understand why the technology of image intensifying tubes may not be appropriate for today’s officer and why the next generation of digital night vision may be much better.
Image intensifying night vision devices were developed during Vietnam to help soldiers see under a triple jungle canopy where there was no artificial light whatsoever and only ambient light that filtered through the rainforest from the moon and the stars. This ambient light is in the infrared spectrum, beyond the visible spectrum that our eyes see naturally.
Because triple jungle canopy is dense stuff, not much ambient light can make its way to the forest floor. Accordingly, the military officials demanded three things from the image tube manufacturers: more, more, more. They wanted more intensifying to amplify every last photon of light energy that penetrated the thick jungle canopy. And they got what they asked for. A succession of ever more intensifying night vision devices followed, which they designated as Gen I, Gen II and Gen III. They differ only in their raw power to intensify ambient light.
The “more, more, more” mandate did indeed led to better and better tubes, but it came with an unintended consequence. By intensifying every drop of light in a rain forest, these tube systems are over-matched for urban conditions where there are all sorts of man-made light sources that overwhelm the tubes in a phenomenon called “blooming.”
Blooming occurs when a tube system looks at something like a street light, a car headlight, a flashlight beam, light pouring from an open window, a billboard, anything. Blooming causes the tube’s sensor to overload, and the whole thing turns blistering white, like a whiteout snowstorm. This not only leaves you blinded as your goggles no longer work, but also that dose of bright light can permanently damage a tube system.
As a “dumb” or analog system (image intensifying tubes cannot discriminate between bright or dark sources), there is no ability to process or refine the “information” that comes through the tube. What you need to operate in an urban environment, obviously, is a “smart” or digital system.
A patented new digital night vision device called SuperVision™ recently was introduced that was designed specifically to address the needs of officers and other users in an urban environment with varying degrees of shadows, light and dark areas, everything from a shopping mall parking lot to the proverbial dark alley.
SuperVision also solves two other concerns with conventional night vision, the lack of resolution and clarity with its characteristic grainy green look and also the lack of magnification to get a clear facial ID on a subject or read a license plate at a distance.
SuperVision uses the most sophisticated CCD (charge coupling device) sensor available anywhere and couples it to the company’s proprietary digital signal processor (DSP) to reveal unimagined levels of detail and clarity from the night. The resolution on SuperVision’s display is so good, it’s actually the same quality as a high-definition TV!
What this digital night vision technology gives you is a “smart” device that can discriminate light from dark, bumping up the pixels from the inky blackness around a Dumpster in shadowy fringe of an industrial center while at the same time harmonizing the sudden glare of a car’s headlight turning into your view. No blooming, no whiteout, just clear, sharp black and white images. And then there’s the zoom magnification feature, which allows SuperVision to zoom from 2x to 8x for clear subject ID or other important detail resolution.
SuperVision is easy to use. There is an on/off button and two sets of controls, one that adjusts the gain in three different lighting modes, dark, light and normal, and the zoom adjustment from 2x to 8x. All are rubber coated waterproof switches ergonomically placed on the unit’s top where your finger naturally fall.
Perhaps the best feature of all is SuperVision’s affordable price. Thanks to the “electronics revolution” with everything from iPods to cell phones driving the price of microprocessors and computer chips down, SuperVision retails for $1,399, which is about a third the price of a Gen III goggle. Of course, there are law enforcement discounts on top of that too, ranging from 20% to 30% based on volume.
I tested one of the first SuperVision units to leave the Carlsbad, CA factory with three members of the Oceanside, CA Police tactical team. On an overcast night with about a quarter moon, the results were unbelievable. The resolution and clarity amazed us all, especially the ability to distinguish facial features enough to get a positive ID at 100 yards. It was as clear and as detailed as daylight. Instead of the fuzzy green look, it is black and white, like watching an old TV show.
We watched pedestrians from a rooftop and were easily able to distinguish them at 300 yards. When car headlights or streetlights came into view, there was no hint of blooming. We looked at light and dark areas, like a wooded clump of bushes next to a streetlight, looking carefully to see if we could see into the shadows. We could.
One of the operators had a sniper rifle with a conventional night vision scope, and the difference between the two systems was, no pun intended, like night and day. The image intensifying tube system could not discern into shadows next to a streetlight at all. The streetlight bloomed the tube so badly that you couldn’t even tell there were bushes beneath it.
For law enforcement applications, digital night vision technology is simply a better mousetrap—a mousetrap designed for urban lighting conditions, not a jungle canopy. And it is available for a third the price of the tube systems.

Item 4.02 Non-Reliance on Previously Issued Financial Statements or a Related Audit Report or Completed Interim Review.
On June 8, 2007, management and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors of Xenonics Holdings, Inc., a Nevada corporation (the "Company"), concluded that
(1) it is necessary to restate the Company's consolidated financial statements for the year ended September 30, 2005, and (2) the Company's consolidated financial statements for the year ended September 30, 2005 should no longer be relied upon. During the year ended September 30, 2005, the Company had reported a gain on settlement of litigation of $306,000 attributable to the return of 112,500 shares of common stock to the Company by a former officer of the Company. In the restatement, the litigation settlement will be reported as a capital transaction and not as gain, as previously reported, resulting in an increase of $306,000 in additional paid-in capital for the year ended September 30, 2005. The net loss for the year ended September 30, 2005 will be increased by $306,000, or $.02 per share. This settlement will have no impact on the Company's shareholders' equity. The Company's consolidated financial statements for the year ended September 30, 2005 were included in the Annual Report on Form 10-KSB for the year ended September 30, 2006 that the Company filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (the "SEC") on December 15, 2006. The Company will include its restated consolidated financial statements in an amended Annual Report on Form 10-KSB/A that it will file with the SEC as promptly as practicable. The determination to restate the Company's consolidated financial statements was made following the receipt of comments from the SEC on these consolidated financial statements. Authorized officers of the Company have discussed the matters disclosed above with Eisner LLP, the Company's independent registered public accounting firm. On June 13, 2007, the Company issued a press release relating to the restatement of its consolidated financial statements. A copy of the press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1 to this Current Report on Form 8-K. The preceding matters were addressed in a Current Report on Form 8-K that the Company filed with the SEC on June 14, 2007. Xenonics to Restate 2005, 2006 Results

Xenonics' Restatement of Fiscal 2005 Results Means Full-Year Net Loss Will Widen by $306,000
CARLSBAD, Calif. (AP) -- Xenonics Holdings Inc., a developer of low-light vision products for the military and other customers, said Wednesday it will restate its financial statements for its fiscal 2005 and 2006 years due to an accounting change.
The company said the restatements will mean its net loss for the year ended Sept. 30, 2005 will increase by $306,000, or 2 cents per share. It doesn't expect any change to its previously reported results for the year ended Sept. 30, 2006.
The restatement centers around Xenonics Holdings' accounting treatment of a lawsuit settlement in the company's favor. The company is restating its financials to show the settlement as a capital transaction rather than income.
Shares were unchanged at $2.81.
XNN Forecast. Link to more accurate forecast with profit margins corrected and product pricing corrected. It is hard to know if Supervision will sell in bulk for $1100 or not. I hope so. I think worst case is it will sell for $1000.

Yes,
Management is very strong IMO. I believe your profit percentages were calculated too high as a result on not taking into account the excess (dubbed obsolete) inventory that the Company wrote off in a previous year. They have almost worked through this entire inventory amount and will be going forward with margins in the mid to high 40% for Nighthunter products.
From SEC filing:
The gross profit percentage was positively impacted in the quarter due to the sale of NightHunterII product from inventory that was identified as excess inventory in fiscal year 2005, as opposed to the prior period of NightHunterII product which were not identified as obsolete. NightHunterII sold during the six months ended March 31, 2007, included products which were marked down in the year ended September 30, 2005 with a value of $998,000.
The management changes at XNN I see as a good thing. They have what appears to be a good product as well as some better management. This should give them a decent chance at executing their business plan. I expect to either be boom or bust.
The most important thing when investing is to find a company with good management. A good product is nice but lousy management can fail to exploit a good product.
XNN is also anticipating about a $3 million Nighthunter 2 order from miltary at any time.(approx 1200 units at base $2,300 per unit; probably $2,500 with all the goodies). I believe that the military budget bill hold-up caused the delay in order. I don't know if this temporary two month miltary spending bill agreement this wekk will release funds for the pending Nighthunter 2 order.

You just have to register with Name, e-nail and put in private investor for company.
Profit percentages. Where did you come up with those numbers? Thanks.
You need to change your profit percentages to about 48% for NH and 52% for Supervision.

Xenonics is rolling out SuperVision, an earth shattering 8x optical zoom night vision system weighing 13 ounces and costing $1399 retail. It is remarkably better than any military or domestic product in its class. Go to www.xenonics.com for details.
The short of it is that the product is in high demand and they are just ramping up production for it. 1000 units should be manufactured in May and 2000 in June. They have orders for 3000 SuperVision units in the quarter ending in June. The following quarter they should be able to produce and hopefully sell 6000 units of SuperVision. The NightHunter II infrared beam/camera remains a smaller but profitable market primarily used by the military. Since the Supervision is a product with many non-military applications it will likely have a much larger market appeal.
Xenonics SG&A should be stable. Increases in revenue will go to the bottom line and ultimately EPS. They have $14M in tax credits so I don't think they will pay taxes at least for a couple more quarters.
Kudos for MSGI bringing this to my attention as his "stock of the year". Nice find once again MSGI! You are the man!
Disclaimer: This is now my largest position and I have a vested interest in this stock doing well... of course. I am hoping for $10+ by the end of the year as borne out by the forecast above.
I agree, lots of good stuff to come down the road. Will definitely be a bumpy ride, as this is an easy one to play games with at this point. Once the steady stream of news starts for both Nighthunter and SV, this one will appeal to a lot traders and LT investors alike.
Holding Tight...

Wednesday December 17, 7:30 am ET
CARLSBAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--XENONICS HOLDINGS, INC. (AMEX:XNN - News) announced today that revenue for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2008 increased 104% to $10.2 million from $5.0 million for fiscal 2007. The net loss for fiscal 2008 narrowed to $1.4 million, or $0.07 per share, which included $963,000 in R&D expenses and $241,000 in non-cash stock-based compensation expenses. For fiscal 2007, the net loss was $4.0 million, or $0.22 per share.
"Xenonics' improved operating performance for fiscal 2008 versus fiscal 2007 was driven by higher shipments of our NightHunter high-intensity illumination devices to U.S. Army, U.S. Marines and military distributors, and sales of our patented SuperVision high-definition night vision products to more than 100 police and government agencies throughout the United States. Looking forward, with more than $11 million in Operational Needs Statements requesting funding for purchases of NightHunter 3 already submitted by military units, and the growth we are generating in our SuperVision customer base in both the U.S. and abroad, we believe that revenue can double again in fiscal 2009 and the Company can deliver a profit for the year," said Chief Executive Officer Chuck Hunter.
The CEO noted that selling, general and administrative expenses for fiscal 2008 decreased 18% to $4,926,000 compared to $6,007,000 for fiscal 2007, while R&D expenses increased 35% to support the development of new products, including NightHunter 3, NightHunter Snyper, NightHunter Tactical IR, SuperVision Tactical Package and SuperVision Long Range Surveillance System. "New products that enhance the capabilities of our customers in the field and help them do their jobs better and more safely are an important part of our growth strategy," Hunter said.
