X-Cal Resources Ltd.: Deep Drill Testing Continues at
Sleeper

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--Deep drill testing of the Sleeper
Gold System is ongoing in the Sleeper Mine Site area of the
Sleeper Gold Property, located in Humboldt County Nevada.

The geological and analytical results from deep drilling in the
West Wood Area are sufficiently encouraging to merit continued
deep drill testing. An area approximately 3000 feet to the north
of the first two deep intercepts is being tested at this time.

Drill hole BCP-01-03 (the third deep hole in the 2003 program) is
targeted to test the deeper volcanics in the vicinity of the
Sleeper Pit and also targets the volcanic/ sedimentary contact
beneath the Sleeper Pit within the down-dip projection of the
main Sleeper mineralized structure. BCP-01-03 is an angle hole
(-55 degrees) and is projected to reach a total vertical depth
from surface of approximately 2050 feet.

Deep drill holes WW-01-03 and WW-06-03, in the West Wood Area,
encountered a deeper, previously unknown horizon of volcanic
hosted gold mineralization (see press release dated September 8,
2003). Deep drill hole WW-06-03 also intercepted gold
mineralization in the sedimentary basement rocks at the interface
between the volcanic pile and the pre-Tertiary sediments (see
September 8, 2003 release). Lab work is underway at this time to
determine the best method to achieve consistent and accurate
analyses of the West Wood Area drill cuttings. Two hundred and
fifty samples from the West Wood Area, which include portions of
all significant mineralized intervals from the 2003 drilling
program, are part of the ongoing lab work/check assay program.
Free gold particles noted in some samples and a sulphide
component are being considered in the lab work.

In general, the exploration team is very encouraged. A major
core-drilling program is recommended for the West Wood Area. The
Sleeper gold system is confirmed to be open along strike,
laterally and at depth in the mine site area. The structural
geology work that the exploration team has undertaken is
increasing the predictability of drill holes. In addition, a
recently completed gravity survey has delineated new targets with
coincident magnetic and IP anomalies south of the mine site area.


This update has been reviewed by Keith R. Blair, M.Sc., C.P.G.
and Rick R. Redfern, M.Sc., C.P.G., who are qualified persons as
defined in national instrument 43-101.

The one from August isn't really a gap, it just traded the next day at the next penny, there's nothing open there imho ..... the one from July is open yes, needs to print .425 to close it, but .... but but but .... the share was pretty cheap then, i wonder if it ever needs to close, not all do ..... and if it does close, it can be after quite a run, which we've already had ..... so to answer your question, do i worry about it, well yes a bit, but not that much ...... generally the golds are a great place to take profits right now, imho, since this summer's run has given everybody profits ..... that's just a wild guess, i'm not that tuned in, just got to start studying charts and stuff this evening .... but overall hunch at this point is that several [thinking of ivn..to and k.to mostly, maybe wrm.to soon as well]] are due for a rest, maybe a little retrace ..... ??? ..... dunno, but that's the way i'm playing it, probably will take a little profit in xcl soon, just on principle, but not much, and not on account of that July gap-up, really .... cheers

A fair bit of distribution going on around the ~.70 level, looks like eh ..... not wise, i wouldn't do that, i think those folks are letting stock go too cheap, in fact i'm thinking of adding even though my last trading entry averaged about .34, lol ... This Time It's Different, New Pair-o-dime, whole new trading range coming imho .... would you have house positions for today and yesterday, by any chance? .... i dropped the stockwatch account for this computer, and won't be near another till next week at least .... just curious to see if any patterns show up, it's probably random and largely retail though, usually is in the last couple of years

I feel a little guilt for not continuing support for various threads, don't feel i have a lot to offer though, haven't kept up with study of all details, haven't been to sedar.com for many weeks, been doing all trading based on stockcharts.com gallery pages combined with distant memory of fundamentals ...... right now i care a lot more about getting horse manure worked into next year's strawberry patch than whether any of these productions ticks up or down on the next day's trading ..... Few people have ever talked about X-Cal, until about a year or so ago anyway, it used to be just John and i and a few others periodically ... a few months ago i checked out the stockhouse thread, and was surprised to see it quite active now ..... friday's release is really something, a placement at usd1.50/sh, yee-haw .... equity in Sleeper being used as sweetener in the deal, true enough, but still these folk are taking down paper at about forty per cent above xcl's all-time high of cdn1.50 ..... that has to mean something, eh, looks like it validates Shawn's unconventional approach to financing, for which he's received criticism from some quarters, snotty remarks even from the wetcoast houses of ill repute, whose deals he presumably turned down

Looks like k.to will hold about 15% [i forget what it is now, a little lower than that i think, maybe 11 or 12%?] -

The X-Cal Resources drill program at the Sleeper gold property, located in Humboldt county, Nevada, is continuing. Results from the new drilling in the West Wood area of the Sleeper mine site should be available for publication by month-end.

X-Cal has recently added new claims to the Sleeper district land package. Kinross Gold Corp. will be offered the opportunity to participate in the new claims, as per the agreement between the two companies. At present, X-Cal has 100 per cent of 5,000 acres and 50 per cent of 15,000 acres at Sleeper, and an option on the Kinross mineral rights in the gold district. (Various payments have been made to Kinross toward exercise of X-Cal's option. Bonding of the mine site area by X-Cal is the remaining step to complete the purchase.) The new claims will add approximately 800 acres to the 30-square-mile project area.

Three major companies are actively monitoring X-Cal's work at Sleeper. The monitoring includes property visits and access to X-Cal data.

Exploration work at Sleeper is being coordinated by Keith R. Blair, MSc. Richard R. Redfern, MSc, certified professional geologist, who is qualified per the standards outlined in National Instrument 43-101, has been contracted to produce a new report on the Sleeper gold project. Mr. Redfern and Mr. Blair have reviewed the contents of this news release.

Real companies don't know anything beyond what was in their last press release either. I keep hoping to find companies that have something to hide, besides the Enron and Bre-X stuff, but so far it's pretty boring out there.

If they hit the "lower boilerplate" rocks for real, they will tell us about 3 months later "when all the data is in", and in the meantime they will issue statements that "they have no idea why there is any unsual activity in their stock."

They did say something a while back about being in some kind of "sleepy formation", they had indicated by geophysics. We can surmise that it was not auriferous. It occurred to me that this might dash their hopes of this having the potential to be a really big operation. They never alluded to it after that, so this just might be the case.

They are hitting gold here and there around the minesite, West wood etc.. It is not a really convincing picture yet that they have anything that will make tons, grades notwithstanding. It is in part the way that they announce it. Redrilling old open pit mines is a bit iffy. People need a lot of convincing to see the excitement in that. It just may be that the picture they are presenting is not bad, but their presentation is not that definitive in terms of potential. In other words, what is the risk of their targets and what targets to they have?

Companies I am looking at which may have a chance of a gold mine in near term, are American Bonanza, Imperial Metals, Metallic Ventures, maybe Geomaque..

Until a mining company hits gold in assays, it is geofantasizing.. as we don't know what he means by "geology"... Whether he is Franc Joubin, or DeGuzman.

Nevada. There has been substantial new staking in the area. As a claim holder in the
area X-Cal is awaiting further announcements with interest.
X-Cal’s 100% owned Mill Creek Property is located over the next lower plate window
northwest of Placer Dome’s Pipeline gold deposit in the CJV area. (Cortez and the
Pipeline Gold mine’s are both located on lower plate windows.)
X-Cal’s Mill Creek Property has a drill hole intercept of 10ft of 0.52 opt. AU and
untested lower plate drill targets. Several offers for the property by a major company
have been made, but were not considered to be realistic by X-Cal’s management.

Glen is Uncle Crusty on the blower, and also by correspondence. Don't try to sell him claims. He is in the business. It would interfere. But in person it is like night and day. Mild mannered clark kent type, and agreeable as a levantine rug salesman.

I have no idea what the numbers mean either. But they keep hitting them. Do you suppose they could eventually be promoted on the stock market as a potential geo-fantasy mine?

It is interesting. I like wide widths. Durham is a past master at hitting them. All they need is 1000 metres of that stuff and I will be up there mining it with an arrastra and a little red wagon. It does not have Raglan grade cachet everywhere, but it appears so far to be the kind of thing that could entertain open pit action.

Canamax was a phenomenally incompetent company. With anything they dropped, they had missed the target. All sorts of strikes in ex-Canamax properties. Even more than ex Noranda properties. I believe they acquired the level of sophisticated failure by hiring geology graduates who made sense and were team players. If it wasn't for a real deep lack of depth in Canadian mining there would be literally no properties left to mine or even explore. As it is the field is dizzyingly rich with left over opportunity from half baked attempts at probing the metallic potential of the land. Half the mines in North America left a mine behind in their tailings alone. Skills are the key. Or the lack of them. Sure to hit the mining hall of fame someday is Royal Oak. Every single large low grade property they ran was so large and so low grade that it just made negative return by a hair's breadth. If these people were generals, you would hire them to work for the enemy.

X-CAL CONFIRMS SLEEPER DRILLING UNDERWAY

X-Cal Resources confirms that the 2003 drilling program at Sleeper, located in Humboldt county, Nevada, is under way (drilling commenced Jan. 31, 2003). An initial exploration budget of $1-million (U.S.) has been set for the phase I program with $5-million (U.S.) as the proposed minimum for the year.

The Sleeper gold property is a 30-square-mile "district scale" gold project, with an existing resource base. It is one of the prime North American gold projects with potential to contribute to the reserve hungry, post consolidation, gold industry.

X-Cal Resources has assembled a team of well qualified Nevada explorationists to direct work at Sleeper. (See news in Stockwatch on Jan. 10 and 13, 2003.) The entire "Sleeper team" is scheduled to meet next week to continue with planning of the 2003 Sleeper work program. The geologic due diligence report by Larry Kornze and Jeffrey Phinisey provides a view of the potential of the Sleeper gold district. The current drill holes are testing early stage targets located east of the mine site.

XCL closely follows the price of gold. In comes off pretty hard when gold dips and rises at a slower rate when gold rises.
Unless they have a PP being set at 75 cents there is little else that would cause thestock to come off.

My opinion is that Wildcat Resources has more experienced personnel, they have better acumen geologically, and better properties with more gold in general. Wildcat does not arm-wave about maybes as if they were sure things by virtue of how many unemployed PhD's they can stuff on their board. They are quietly saying that small scale high grade gold mining and low cost placer mining can be done, as it is an ignored field. We don't talk to brokers except when we have to. That is their funeral.

I started out to make a facetious post, with no sarcasm intended but, in fact what I said above can be relied on 90%!

The risk reward of chasing lower plate BM rocks and what we are doing is actually about the same. I will not explain that. Explanations are for children. The smart money goes with the brains.

Unfortunately for the most part, most money does not look long term and is not too smart as to where it does look.

If you had been asked, what would you have said about X-Cal? Have you looked at it? Do you think it has potential?

Nowhere does it say E. Charters likes the property, has vetted or approved of the work. In my opinion that alone speaks volumes. If he did not look at it, or say it had potential, then it is at least doubtful.

News Release, Sleeper Exploration Team Appointments, January 10, 2003

Ken Synder & Larry Kornze, both respected Nevada "mine finders", have joined the X-Cal Resources Ltd. Sleeper Exploration Team.

The other members of the team are Win Rowe, MSc., Keith Blair, MSc., & Larry Martin. … The combined experience of Mr. Rowe, Mr. Kornze and Mr. Snyder will be utilized for overall direction of the 2003 work program at Sleeper…

Drilling is scheduled to begin this month and is expected to continue throughout the year.

X-Cal Resources Ltd. News Release January 13, 2003 Geophysicist Completes X-Cal Sleeper Team

Terry White, a top geophysicist, has joined the X-Cal Resources Ltd. Sleeper Gold Exploration Team.

In a news release dated January 10, 2003 X-Cal announced that respected Nevada mine finders Larry Kornze (previously of Barrick Gold) and Ken Synder (known for the Ken Synder Midas Mine) have also joined the team.

Keith Blair, MSc. (formerly Placer Dome), a 3-D model expert, is the team
co-ordinator. Winthrop Rowe, MSc. and Larry Martin (structural geologist) complete the team.

Mr. White (formerly of Placer Dome) is the author of a very high quality magnetic survey of the Sleeper Gold Property. His work will be integrated with all other data as part of the drill hole targeting process.

The team has been given the mandate to continue the targeting process with the objective of prioritizing drill targets throughout the 30 square mile property, located in Humboldt County, Nevada.

Early phase drilling is scheduled to begin this month…

The release of this data to the novice may seem trivial & inconsequential. It is important to realize that geologists of these men’s professional caliber only work on projects where they see major league potential.

Summary

2003 will see a major drill program initiated on the Sleeper Project.

X-Cal’s multi million ounce potential has been recognized by respected Nevada "mine finders".

Presently X-Cal has a market cap around 27 million US dollars & a stock price .70 Canadian. Based on the present gold resource already outlined X-Cal’s stock price is in my personal opinion very UNDER VALUED.

In my last article I discussed the ongoing dialogue between GATA & those individuals that do not support GATA’s allegations of organized gold price manipulation. Tim Wood, of MineWeb, responded to my article & made the following statements.

Tim Wood is a joke. Debate who? Him? That gets us nowhere. The GATA camp has better things to do with our time. I am going to Vancouver the next two out of three weeks to educate investors about the gold market.

In April, I go to Atlanta to a conference to benefit autistic kids.


What kind of moron sets up a debate without telling a debater who its opponents will be? If he (Tim Wood) can produce the World Gold Council, or GFMS, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, or a Barrick, GATA will be all over it.

Anyway, I would like to say that while this type of back & forth debate sounds nasty sometimes it is very healthy in a democratic society. This type of debate between opposing views is what has made our culture strong & versatile.

But to really sum up the whole gold manipulation debate let’s listen to this next statement:

The chances seem good that there are more high-grade veins there. Well, nearly certain, at least in small quantities.

The drill program will hopefully provide a few of those big assays.

Will, A safe assumption.

From what I've read, I have come to the conclusion that Sleeper is one of the best exploration properties in North America. I am enthusiastic about X-Cal's prospect, and have even put some of my money where my mouth is.

I've been speculating in X-Cal since the early 90's. I hope that the planned drilling produces some results that gives a kick to the price. Either that or $400+ gold.
