First, let me apologize for taking up a post on this board with a totally off-topic request. But since I do not have Premium service, I could not post it ont the WAVXOT board. Therefore, this will be my only post for this request, so I hope it doesn't get deleted, or offend anyone, and all will consider helping.
There is a band called Jupiter Sunrise that my family and I are well acquanted with. They are a bunch of good people that are trying to make it in the music industry, and they have a chance to win an MTV contest that would almost certainly elevate all of their careers. However to win, they need votes ~ as many votes as they can get between now and Sepetmber 4th when the contest ends. Voting is done online, and anyone can vote as often as they like.
This band has been traveling the country (several times) over the past 5-years trying to make it. Your vote(s) would certainly help. I couldn't imagine a better community than this one to ask for support, and I wouldn't ask if it wasn't important to them. Anything you would do to help would not benefit me, or my family in any way. It would only be offering a hand to some good young kids with some talent that I believe could use a break.
If everyone spent a half hour, or more of their time voting we could make a difference. My family and I have been voting for several days now, and we plan to continue to do our part.

Suspect Arrested in JonBenet Ramsey Case

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- A former schoolteacher was arrested Wednesday in Thailand in the slaying of 6-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey - a surprise breakthrough in a lurid, decade-old murder mystery that had cast a cloud of suspicion over her parents.
Ramsey family attorney Lin Wood identified the suspect as John Mark Karr, 41. Federal officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the name, and one law enforcement official told The Associated Press that Boulder police had tracked him down online.
The head of Thailand immigration police said Thursday that Karr admitted to the killing after he was arrested at his downtown Bangkok apartment Wednesday night. Karr arrived in Bangkok on June 6 from Malaysia to look for a teaching job, Lt. Gen. Suwat Tumrongsiskul told The Associated Press.
re: shares and the RS...the math works something like this (numbers used for clarity -- not actual authorised for Wave)
Suppose there were 10,000,000 authorised and 6,000,000 issued. There would be an additional 4,000,000 available for pipes, employee stock plans, etc.
A 1:4 RS would leave the authorised at 10,000,000, but reduce the issued to 1,500,000, leaving 8,500,000 available for future sales.
Potential dilution would, as a percentage, increase.
There is nothing inherently illegal or "wrong" with doing this, but it greatly increases the exposure to the shareholders.

The Origin of TAPS

In case you ever wondered where "Taps" came from and the words to it. We have all heard it many times but few know its origin or the words. In 1862 during the Civil War, Union Army Capt. Robert Ellicombe was with his men near Harrison Landing, VA. The Confederate Army was on the other side of this narrow strip of land. During the night, Capt. Ellicombe heard the moan of a soldier who lay wounded on the field.
Crawling on his stomach through the gun fire, the captain reached the stricken solder and began pulling him toward his encampment. When he finally reached his own lines, he discovered it was actually a Confederate soldier but the soldier had died.
Suddenly, the captain went numb with shock. In the dim light he saw the face of the soldier own son. The boy had been studying music in the south when the war broke out and, without telling his father, enlisted in the Confederate Army.
The heartbroken father asked if he could have a group of Army band members play a funeral dirge for his son at the funeral. That request was turned won because the soldier was a Confederate.
Out of respect for the father, however, they said they would give him one musician. He chose a bugler, whom he asked to play a series of musical notes he had found on a piece of paper in the pocket of the dead youths uniform. That music was the haunting bugle melody we now know as "Taps."

A family in Central Coast (an hour and a half north of here) moved into a rental and were told that they couldn't keep their dog...a 7 year old Border Collie named Mynx... The Border Collie Rescue folks place a notice on their web site and we picked her up this Saturday.
Settling in just fine, except for the OCD behaviour around the tennis ball. It's so bad my son and I now refer to it as the YFT (yellow fuzzy thing) because if we actually use the word 'ball' we'd be playing fetch for anOTHER hour.
And that weird habit of eating carrots.
But other than that, fine.

brisket, ribs, hot wings (with Franks hot sauce) and the works.
They sell Coors too...but I won't hold that it agains them. (Victoria Bitter being a far superior beer)
While I'm a strong proponent of living like the locals (and nowhere has it been more fun than here) it was great to dig into those hot wings..
