Let's see if IR for Village Farms will return my call and then I'll see if I want to make the bet
Let's make a bet who has 1 m sqft done first .. I'll take EMHTF $100
R.E.M. er soon as there done they Can start to grow , will have a harvest ready for July imho .....
Good interview! Aphria projecting 1M sq. ft. capacity July/August 2018, but seed to sale another 4 months. November 2018 is there basic target for 1M sq. ft.
Village Farms should only be about 4 months max behind Aprhia. Aphria has the advantage of already demonstrating sales, but VFF has proven their sales in the produce markets with a great cost structure. Village Farms will likely have a lower cost of production. VFF only has 50% of the sales however.
I think it is fair to say that VFFIF should be trading at about $150-200M now. Approximately a 100%+ rise.
Probably will take receiving the license from Health Canada to get the move going. Assuming they did apply for it upon the JV on June 6th, and that HC is expediting the licenses to about 3 months as they stated in the CC, we should see the license as early as next week!
Crazy float got to be locked or will fast imho
MM has all these shares and they won't fill me on the bid with anything.
Yes, and the $20M from Emerald and additional funding they would receive should more than help that initiative.
Maybe they build another green house just for vegetables ....
why not ...lol 50% of 10 m sqft is 1 billion. A year lmao ...
They can move all over us with green houses for Vegetables ...
Ha! They emphasized they want to continue to deliver on the produce business and that cannabis would actually help them grow that side of the business faster.
Imagine if they announce all 10 m sqft !!
You are probably right! Go to 4:40 in this video.
Thinking when legalization goes through , they then announce the rest of sqft ...
Notice Vic harping on cost of production in greenhouse and nobody can match them. He didn't know about VFFIF at the time of the interview.
Trying to be conservative, but VFFIF has 50% stake. 1M square feet in 2018, will take another year or so to get to 2-4M.
I don't know, definitely something to continue to explore. Maybe $30 is possible late next year!
$30 a shares is only 1 b valuation.....
This looks to me like the best risk/reward play. The downside is more minimal due to not having a bloated valuation and a growing underlying business outside of cannabis. The upside is as large as any of the growers as I believe VFFIF has a very good chance of being the largest producer a few years out. Take into account this is undiscovered during the consolidation of the sector, and I think we have the best overall play in the space.
Capital Ideas TV interview with Vic Neufeld of Aphria to get an idea of what we should soon see from Village Farms.
My man .... agreed 109%
You like this most ? For Canada
Agreed. I listened to the conference call again this morning, and it's hard to not get incredibly excited about this opportunity. Village Farms may well have the largest market cap of all the cannabis growers in the longer run. I expect the top dogs of 600M - 1B will see 1-2B in late 2018.
Quick back of napkin analysis should mean VFFIF can hit 400-600M, or $10-$15 sometime in late 2018, and $30+ in 2020 and beyond. The ability to leverage their industry expertise in a highly commodotized market is unparalleled.
Both stocks are going to be epic ..imho
They being Village Farms International (VFF-T), North America's largest greenhouse grower of tomatoes. The company's CEO flew in from Florida on Tuesday just to talk to us in our Capital Ideas TV studio for a future episode.
But Michael DeGiglio wasn't there to talk about tomatoes. He wants the market to know about his company's plans tosupply half of Canada's marijuana needs in a few years time by converting much of its greenhouse capacity to marijuana cultivation.

should be a fun run when we get 1M share days in the future. Village Farms - the largest hydroponic produce provider in North America is going to become the lowest cost producer of weed in the world. Believe that!
Went from 1.20 to 1.80 with 200 k volume !! Wow

For low floater , CSTI got a lot shares lol
Day to Day not an issue, 2018 big picture!
Agreed .... in not worried not selling until way later :)
LT play I wouldn't expect this to break above 1.60 significantly until the MJ license is approved. Sounded like a 2 month process right now. Hopefully by November.
Well damn where was he earlier ... SMFH
Alot more $$$$ in MJ
With 36 m shares going be epic $10+ 2018
Marijuana is the new crop for B.C. produce company Village Farms
http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/village-farms-emerald-health-greenhouse-1.4149509
A major Canadian producer of greenhouse-grown fruits and vegetables plans to turn at least one of its B.C. greenhouses into an enormous marijuana production facility.
Village Farms, based in Delta, B.C., has announced a joint venture with Emerald Health Therapeutics, the parent company of licensed medical cannabis producer Emerald Health Botanicals, also based in B.C.
Under the terms of the deal announced late Tuesday, Village Farms will provide Emerald with an existing 1.1 million square foot greenhouse in Delta, in exchange for $20 million cash and a 50 per cent stake in the joint venture. If approved and licensed by Health Canada, the greenhouse could yield more than 75,000 kilograms of marijuana per year, the companies say.
Emerald has the option to lease two more greenhouses from Village Farms in the future, for a total of 4.8 million square feet of growing space with an estimated annual yield of 300,000 kilograms. Village Farms CEO Michael DeGiglio said he expects the first greenhouse to converted for cannabis farming by 2018.
Avtar Dhillon, executive chairman of Emerald Health Therapeutics, said his company hopes for Health Canada approval of the site "fairly quickly." The federal agency recently announced it was speeding up the application process for new licences and facility expansions.
Cost advantages of greenhouse growing
"Using exclusively greenhouse growing facilities, we are confident that we can be the low-cost provider in the industry," Village Farms CEO DeGiglio said during a Wednesday conference call. Greenhouses, DeGiglio noted, can harness free sunlight instead of relying on costly electric lights, and don't require energy-intensive heat extraction.
"Based on our extensive modeling, we believe we can achieve a cost of production less than $1 per gram," said DeGiglio. "For context, the average cost of production of the largest licensed producers in Canada is currently above $2."

Keeping growing costs low will be important once the recreational marijuana market comes into force, according to Cannacord Genuity analysts Matt Bottomley and Neil Maruoka.
"We believe the key differentiators between high and low cost cultivators will be the efficiency in the method of grow (outdoor greenhouse vs. indoor cultivation) and the input costs of hydro, water and labour, which can vary significantly from province to province," wrote Bottomley and Maruoka in a November 2016 report on the future potential of Canada's cannabis industry.
The joint venture between Village Farms and Emerald Health Theraputics won't be the first legal Canadian marijuana operation to take advantage of greenhouse growing.
Licensed producer Aphria, based in Leamington, Ont., also touts its medical marijuana as being greenhouse-grown, with the slogan 'powered by sunlight.' Tantalus Labs, a recently licensed company based in Vancouver, is also focusing its business model and marketing efforts on greenhouse growing.
A number of other licensed cannabis producers are already operating greenhouse growing facilities, or building them out for the future, like Aurora Cannabis is doing with an 800,000 square foot greenhouse in Leduc County, Alberta. ?
Village Farms International and Emerald Health Form Joint Venture for Large-Scale Greenhouse Cannabis Production
VANCOUVER, June 6, 2017 /CNW/ - Village Farms International, Inc. ("Village Farms") (VFF.TO) (VFFIF) and Emerald Health Therapeutics Inc., together with its affiliates ("Emerald") (EMH.V), today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement to form a joint venture for large-scale, high-quality, low-cost cannabis production. Under the terms of the agreement, Village Farms will initially contribute a 1.1 million-square foot (25-acre) greenhouse facility in Delta, British Columbia, located on a 50-acre parcel of land (with ancillary buildings) (the "Initial Greenhouse"), which will be converted to ACMPR (Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations)-compliant production and, if permitted by applicable law, production for the non-therapeutic adult-use market.

Thanks! Frankly, I think VFFIF is the better own. I'll probably do a 70% VFFIF/30% EMHTF split on my position.
Now That's a Switch: Longtime Tomato Grower to Fill Greenhouse With Weed

Through 10 k .... long term
Sweet! Loving this idea even more after looking at some YT's.
The recent 50/50 JV with Emerald Health Therapeutics is a big step forward for Village Farms. I love this deal with Village Farms having the expertise as one of the largest produce providers in North America in a highly commoditized industry. We are talking about 6% margins!
If they can do that with tomatoes, bell peppers, and cucumbers, imagine what they'll do with cannabis. There is very little risk for Village Farms in this joint venture, and they have the ability receive an even higher premium for future leasing with Emerald or whoever they choose.
The risk/reward here is outstanding. Especially, when you look at the huge premiums people are paying for the already established players that Village Farms has every chance to catch, possibly beat.
I think Village Farms is the one to own, but both VFFIF and EMHTF should do very well.
